My thoughts on YCH and Adoptables
General | Posted 11 years agoBefore I start talking about my personal view of this subject, let me pop up a little disclamer, since, as I learned in the past, some people accept everything that differs from their point of view as attack on their own persona : this is my PERSONAL point of view, my PERSONAL thoughts that make sense by MY OWN logic. I dont expect ANYONE to accept this point of view and if you are against it, you may leave a comment, but dont expect me to change my point of view as much as I dont expect to change yours. And what i really dont expect that any artist stops doing this! I wont pressure or hate on anyone when i see them creating this kind of stuff out, but I really, REALLY want to get this of my chest.Understood? Understood.
# What I will write sounds really accusative and hatefull, so dont read on if you are easily hurt by written words by some dumb fuck on the internet
So, without further ado...
YCH and Adoptables are cancer that destroys whats little left of creativity in furry fandom! I understand why they are here - quick buck for the artist, quick art for the customer - but they are really, REALLY a bad thing. Why you ask? Since that has nothing to do with art any longer, it's more of a business, totally laid out to replicate your usual everyday capitalistic exchange.
"But art is like that Pav" some will say "An artist does a pic, and the person who likes it buys it". Well, Furry art is not same as Art you see hanging in galleries - it's an art created by ideas from both side (we are talking about commissions strictly now). Artist has the know how, customer has the character and idea he likes to see. And both sides create (usually) something great. But, with these two fiends, that hit the shitter, didnt it?
Adoptables first, since i think they are the biggest crap idea I've ever seen. As said, creativity was never big in this fandom, not because people are boring, but because you have just so many animals you can morph to anthropomorphic character and still be likeable (There are bugs out there too, but most people dislike these for eg.). And some people went ahead and took what creativity was left and made a ready made characters you can buy for few bucks and be happy for a while. See, if you didnt created something in the first place, you dont feel as bound to it as something that is fruit of yer mind-loins. It's a toy that makes you happy for a short while, like a barbie doll without any accessories compared to lego. Ergo, you wont be happy at all with your purchase, since an artist just took almost all of your creativity. You can add a background story at least, but that is still kind of limited due to the fixed looks of the character.
YCH on other hand just makes me puke. You are paying for something that a) isnt your idea and b) is already done. Artist mostly only has to add few things to the placeholder and he is done! I can tell you this - if an artist, or a person, isnt ready to give you a time of a day to draw you character doing what YOU want them to do, they are not worth bothering. I know that most people defend these, since it's a chance for them to get a pic from their fav artist, but what did you got in the end? A premade pose, none of your input past the character (even less if you opted for adoptables) and a assurance for the artist that yes, he can get away with this. Just drawing what he darn likes and get money from you while hes at it.
If it may sound that im fairly negative against artist doing these kind of things (which I am), dont think that you, the customer, are less guilty for this. By buying the YCH and Adoptables, people just say "Yes, take our creativity away!". It's like going to a prostitue and paying her to tell you about a BJ she gave earlier. I also know that people use these to get away paying less for the "commission", but really, a well made commission with your character and YOUR idea is far more worth than 30 ych put together.

How to Draw - Basic Shapes
General | Posted 12 years agoHere I will talk about basic shapes. I was thinking about drawing this chapter, but seeing that i need to write a lot and dont have to draw anything past few basic shapes, I think a journal would fit here better ^^ So, without furhter ado, lets begin :D
Line
Line is the one of the most basic shapes around - and as such, you will use it a lot in construction and design, so be prepeared to befriend it soon enough ^^ People almost always tell me "I cant even draw a straight line!", and no, hardly anyone can, but you dont need to draw it straight at all :D It should only be more of an direction giver and frame work. But, if you want to draw the straightest line you can without using any tools, just put your pencil down and quickly draw a line in one direction - the faster you do this, the straighter the line will be, the slower you are, the more inclined you are to stray away. Its also important to draw a line in one go, since putting a pencil down for another time will hardly ever continue the line straight.
Circle and Ellipse
Circle is also one of the most basic shapes you will need to work. As with line, the secret in good circle is drawing it fast and in one go - this will give you sumwhat eliptical circle, but it will do for most of your needs, since you will need it mostly for the construction of the pic itself ^^ In nature, there is hardly ever a perfect sphere or circle, so you dont have to be perfect either ;3 Even a ball will change a bit when flying around. You will use this form mostly to construct head and torso of your character, but you can also use the elipse to show the thickness of a certain object or body part, like fingertips and such.
Square, Rectangle and Triangle
These three are more advanced forms of the line, and as such are drawn the same - quick and without too much thought put into it. You will use these less for the construction of the body (altho some people use upturned triangle for torso) and more for the construction of the objects - furniture, clothing, weapons and such. Due to their nature, they are more of a framework than a real construction drawing, but you will meet them when drawing technical objects.
These would be the basic shapes - everything else builds up upon these, seeing that even the last group is just an closed off version of the simple line. Word of warning - you can use tools like ruler or shape tools in the program of your choice, but only for construction drawings. Never, NEVER use these for lineart or finished drawing! The perfect, straight line will stick out like a sore thumb in your free hand drawing, due to the fact that a) it will be way to perfect for human hand to do on their own and b) the line will look more thicker and longer than the ones you use in the rest of the drawing. Ive seen some people doing this - found it mostly in older comics and pictures that include an architecture in background, where people would draw characters free hand and everything else with tools - DONT. DO. THIS!!! It will let your picture look all wrong! Either draw the whole thing with free hand OR whole picture with tools - you shouldnt mix these together! Some people manage to pull it off, but you can still clearly see where there is tool involved. There are ways where you can mask this, but i will come to those later if there is a chance.
Also, if you want to add sum actual work in your doodling, aside of practicing your hand, you can draw these shapes. Draw a circle and make a smiley out of it. Draw a rectangle and make an cereal box out of it - the things you can do are endless and you can get familiar with these shapes from early on :3

I will cover variety of Topics i think are needed to start drawing your furries, but also those that requested by the people and I deem will fit with the overall theme. The Art stlye displayed here is my own, an simplistic, comic-style with furries that have digitigraded legs. At this point, i asume i wont be working with other artist, so i wont be covering anime-style, realistic-style and such. Look at these as a guideline only!

General | Posted 12 years agoIn this journal i will write about several topics that people asked me about at some point or another, but just dont fit in the basic introduction ( see here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5347834/ ). What i will write here is purely my opinion, but has proven to be (mostly) right, so if you are drawing for a while, read on :D If you are just starting on, read on too!
Traditional or Digital?
This is the main question that people seem to be having - shall they start with traditional art or just plunge head first into the digital art? I could list the pro and contras of each, but it would be better if you dropped the whole notion to see them as the same side of the coin and just treat em like two different things! True, art comes out in the end, but the processes are quite different, so lets see both of them, starting with...
Traditional Art
IMHO, if you are new to Art, start with Traditional art! It`s easier, since you have the hand-eye coordination and can work faster and easier. This kind of art is easy to learn, but hard to master, since there are tons of different ways you can take! There are different kinds of tools to work with and on, so it also offers lots of ways to express oneself. The only downside that I can mention is the sheer cost if you decide to move into the "profesionall" corner of art and buy the more costly tools and art mediums like paper and canvas. But, what do you need to start off?
- Paper or a notebook (clear white)
- Standard Lead Pencils (With either soft or hard lead, soft is better for shading, hard is better for drawing)
- Eraser (Simple white one, preferable the small one, but you can have a big one too for cleaning out larger portions of drawing)
- Pencil Sharpner (Buy bout 10 of these, since you will lose them all the time ;3)
All this will cost under 10 bucks and will hold a while - For my sketching needs, i usualy get bout five A5 format clear white notebooks, two packages of soft pencils (10 per Pckg.), an good sharpner and two erasers and come under 10€ and have enough material for next 4-5 months, depending on my doodle needs - in case i need to doodle all the time, i might go back to get more sketchbooks ;3.
And that is your standard equipment - cheap and easy to aquire. But as said, going deeper into Traditional art will soon get costly! Since, you can draw with bunch of stuff - coal, mechanical pencils, pen, ink, water and oil colors, markers, colored pencils just to name the few. The paper cost will also rise, since not every tool works the best on every paper - Hammer, the thick white paper is quite good for ink and watercolor, but is waste of money to spend on if ya work with other, non aqua based tools (as far as ive tried it out). Working on other kinds of paper can also yield interesting results - water color and coated paper can be hard to combine, but the outcome can be REALLY good. I wont dwell on this for too long since i made the jump to the digital art in the time i had money problems and couldnt afford dishing out much for the tools of the trade and regrett it ever since - but seeing that i still have the lackage in money department, that wont change soon ^^;
Still, if you are new to Art, start with this! You can take your tools everywhere and doodle anytime you want. Also a big plus is the fact you can actually SEE where your hand is and can also easily turn the paper around, quicker and faster than on PC.
Also one thing that can put a dent into your budget is a flatbed Scanner. Dont bother with digital cams and such, since the bad quality of them will let your work look blurry and unpresentable. You can get good scanners for about 50 bucks and on. Skip the cheap crap and get yourself a HP or Cannon scanner, since they are the best for your needs - mine is Cannon CanoScan LiDE 110, flatbed scanner i got for 70€ back in the day (not a reduced price, as far as i can remember) that is fast AND usb powered. Only thing i would advise not to use at all are combined Scanner+Printer set ups, since the heat that printer creates will bust your scanner pretty soon. Every scanner comes with scanning software, but get yourself Photoshop or Gimp - its easier to adjust pictures that way.
Digital Art
Digital Art is the vile temptress - it offers tools that you need to get once every few years and also the magical undo command! But, dont be fooled. Digital art is hard to learn- If learning to draw is like learning to drive a bicycle, digital art is like trying to drive without hands - you will fall and steer away from your destination a lot in the beginning! Thats why i say - if you are new to art, DONT START WITH DIGITAL!!! Starting out with digital is expensive comparred to the starting out gear for traditional art and you will cheat yourself out of doodling all the time too, since you cant take a PC with ya all the time. True, you can take a laptop, but you will need a table or at least a way to balance both the laptop and fat-ass tablet! And the main reason is - you arent looking at your hand, you are looking at the screen! While starting out, you NEED to see what the heck you are doing down there, you NEED the eye-hand coordination! So, get that idea out of your head and get pencils and paper and doodle! In few years, you can do the jump, or even earlier if you are practicing like maniac ^^ But, lets see the starting costs -
- PC, preferably with Internet Connection (provided, or you couldnt read this=
- Art Programm (See below)
- Picture Editing programm (optional, see below)
- Tablet (or mouse - and i mean that one! There are people around that can do magic with your standard logitech mouse!)
- Printer (also optional, see below)
I work with Wacom Bamboo Tablet with drawing space of a size of an A6, that i got for 60€ back in the day. The model i am using is out of production, since i got it in 2008, but support is still going on for this lil rascal :3 My experience with wacom products is VERY good, so you should try to get one of these! I worked with an borrowed one for bout a year, also an wacom, and had also good reasults with that one. The support is good and they are quite sturdy too. You can get tablets in price range from 60€ (30 if you count the wacom touch, which is piece of crap and not suited for our art needs) up to 350€ and more! The main price factor is the Size of the tablet and also what product line - bamboo line is more cheaper than others, but can be quite hard to get (havent seen much of those lately, but maybe its just the big names/big prices clogging the search). Also, get sum reflective tape and glue it on the pen - that bugger loves to roll down the table and bed every now and then.
You will also need some art programms to get you started. You CAN draw in paint, but it is very limited. My advice would be to go with Sai, which is free and has variety of tools to choose from or with OpenCanvas, which costs bout 30 bucks, depending if they have a sale or not, but also has variety of tools and interesting fuctions like saving your art progress which can then be replayed by other users using OC. I was working with Open Canvas 1.1, 4.06E and not the 5th edition, which has settings of previous editions implemented into it - It`s a good art programm, but Sai is slowly gaining up to it lately, so you might as well start with the no cost variant :D Other kind of Programs you can use are the Tool Simulators like Art Rage and Corel Painter, the later having more options but both needing a lot of ram to actually work properly! So, its something for current generation PCs that can work with it, but you can make an Art with it that mimicks real Tools quite well! Also, there are Vector based programs, oposed to the pixel ones listed above (i will explain the difference below), You can go with either Flash, Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw - i sadly dont know any free vektor programs at the moment, so if anyone can tell me about a free one, i will implement it here later on :3
Picture Editing programs are ones like Adobe Photoshop and Gimp (the last one is for free). You CAN use them, but you dont have to! The problem of the most Art programs is their lack to adjust colors, size, switching between RGB and CMYK (will come to this later) and DPI (Will also come to this later). Open canvas can handle himself very well on it`s own in this regard, but still cant do some things or overly complicated compared to photoshop. You will need this Programs if you want to give your pictures the last polish before tossing them online, but can also be useful to quickly resize a part of body that you messed up - it aint no shame, i use it all the time :D But, i want to stress it - PHOTOSHOP AND GIMP ARENT ART PROGRAMS!!! You can be super good with them, but they arent meant for creating art, merily touching it up. You can use a plane to drive around highways, but why would you!!! There ARE bunch of effect avaliable in photoshop and such, but trust me - add them later instead of drawing there. Ive been using Photoshop for a while - i started with legally owned (!) Photoshop 7 and Im currently using Photoshop CS6, to which i have a year of use thanks to a lenghty print course i went to. I tried Gimp now and then, but will know more when the free license is out :3
You need a printer only if you plan to print out your work. Try getting yourself an InkJet, preferably Cannon. HP is also good, but cannon is a) faster and b) the color is easier and cheaper to refill. Im aware there are laserjet printer out there too, but i never bothered to try them out, since laser printer pictures tend to "break", thin white lines apearing there where the color layer has cracked. Also, Im not making an free advertisement for Cannon or HP - they are just one of those machines with a good price range and that i spent using the most in my life. I also tried Lexmark once, but the colors are expensive, at some point costing MORE than a new mashine!!! This is because the color packages you get with the mashine (as with every other printer) are only up to 1/2 - 1/4 full, so just dont bother with it... Also, when it comes to printing, there are some things ya need to know...
DPI: Dots Per Inch, tells you how much dots are found withing an inch of the picture - the higher, the better for the print. For a good Print, you need around 300 DPI. For screen, you need 72 DPI - the higher the DPI is, the blurrier the picture gets on screen! So, 72 DPI for FA, 300 for print :3 Also, if you rise the DPI AFTER you finished the pic, the picture will get smaller! It will have the same size in Pixels, but the size in Inches (Or cm) will decrease! Just keep this in mind before ya wonder why your magnum opus came out at a size of a post-it note after you increased the DPI from 10 to 600 ;3
RGB/CMYK: These two are the most knows color spaces, LAB being around them too, lurking in the shadows. RGB (Red Green Blue) is an additive color space, meaning that when you mix all the colors, you get white. This is the Color Space of Light - so, anything that hits your eye as ray of light is RGB, like your Screen! CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Kontrast/Black) is a subtractive color space, meaning that when you mix all the colors, you get black. Many people referr to this one as CMY Color Space, since you get black in the ending, but this is the color space used in print and black is also used there, so you get that K hanging in the back of all dem letters. This Color Space is used for the objects that dont shine, so you can say that the world is CMYK...sumwhat.
You need to know the difference, since if you want to print, you will have a bad time if you try to print your RGB picture on your CMYK printer - and EVERY printer is CMYK based! You can change the color space after you have finished the pic, but you will notice that the picture will a)look wahsed out and b)be a lot darker when printed. This is because some colors cant be found in CMYK color space and vice versa ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.....comparison.png ). CMYK also has diffculities showing transparency and such, so be on the lookout. You CAN work in CMYK, but do only so if you just plan to print it. If you work for screen only, stay in sRGB or the better, Adobe RGB. ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.....Colorspace.png )
And last but not least, the difference between Pixel and Vektor based Programs. Pixels are used most of the time when it comes to art, since you have the freedom to draw lines as you please and can actually work on every little piece of your work. It also offers a much better coloring options. Vektors are not easy to use, but have one major advantage - you can resize them at will at no loss of quality! You can make a 1 in x 1 in picture in vector programm of your choice and resize it to A0 format if you like to, with absolutelly no loss in quality! But vectors are pretty wonky to use, so people mostly make logos or little graphics with these programs, but ive seen few artists work with these (as i did to at one point or another) and can say that i find it limiting, but enjoyable :3
And that would be it! As said in the begining, what you just have red is purely my own opinion - some people will say that im wrong, others that im right. But, same as with art styles, there is as much opinion about these topics as there are artists around :3 So go ahead, see it for yourself and make your own opinion! Listen to others, but never limit yourself to their words only - try stuff out, see the world and learn!
As with the last journal, im open for any questions, so feel free to ask :3

How to Draw - An Introduction
General | Posted 12 years agoSeeing that more and more people keep asking me how to draw furries lately, I`ve decided to write this tutorial about drawing. Well, you might ask "Pav, How can you describe how to draw something?" and "Havent you already done this at some point?" and you would be right about both points - I cant teach you how to draw with written word and I`ve done this once years ago (there is even a youtube video). But, seeing that might art has imrpoved since then made me think about doing a new tutorial, much deeper than the old one. Also, in this journal, i want to discuss some misconceptions about drawing.
Since this is a furry site and im an Artist that draws furries, most people come to me with wish to learn how to draw furries. What i hear mostly is, that they already bought bunch of books and worked with bunch of tutorials, to no avail. There is also two kind of people - the ones that want to start out with drawing and those that have already worked in different style, so I will adress both groups. In the end, i will give some tips for the aspiring artists and also some concepts about art you have to get in your ehad before you head on on the long way to become an active artist. So, without further ado...
People that are just starting out
Working on sumthing and having no success is quite a bummer - art is no difference here. Trying to follow all the tutorials there are out there, with bunch of ideas that go through your head that you finally want to bring down to the paper, will leave most new artists dissapointed and sad/broken, since they spend hours and hours just trying to get the head right. The reason is simple - you cant draw! Not right now, but you will in the future :3 Dont start out trying to bring your best ideas to paper - start doodling! All the time! It doeasnt matter what you doodle - i started with big titted ducks and swords, thousand of those, until my room was looking like downtown of new york with all the paper towers. See, the reason why those tutorials doesnt seem to work is since people who write/film them make them for people that are already into drawing for a while - they dont make them that way specifically, they just end up that way. You need to start out practising your hand. If your art outpur was limited to the stuff ya did in the art class, your hand is not ready for this task, thats way - doodle. All the time! As said, they shouldnt be finished art and nothing you aspire to show online - the goal is simply to get your hand used to holding a pen and soften your wrist. And trust me, this might take a while - just think of the times ya held the guitar hero controller for the first time and your wrist hurt like hell the next day? You were unprepeared, but with doodling all the time, you will be prepeared for the art :3 As soon as your wrist has soften up (you will notice this when drawing certain forms and objects like circles and lines become easier and no minder), you can draw. You now only need to widen your knowledge and fill it with the things you can draw - this will also take a long while, so be prepeared for that. At this point, you can start consulting tutorials and keep doodling stuff, but now stuff like eyes, hands, muzzles - things you want to end up drawing sumday, furries. Before i head on to the other topic, let me recap and add sum tipps...
- Forgett about the tutorials for a moment
- Doodle all the time, it doesnt matter what
- Keep doing it all the time - you can actually hurt your progress by taking long breaks
- Everyone can draw - the only thing that matters is if you want to invest time into it
- Never give up after a setback - keep doodling and look forward to days when you can draw all dem cool stuff!
- Important Rule!!! If you just started out drawing, DONT BUY A TABLET!!! Just dont!!! Tablets are nice and fine, but you need to learn how to draw in the first place, and you need to have your eye and hand coordination at work at all time in the beginning. When using the tablet, you dont look at your hand, you look at the screen - even artists that are drawing for years will have a setback until they get used to this.
People who already have a style and look to get into furries
So, you are drawing for a while, but just cant manage to get into furry art? It is quite easy, if you a) want to invest the time and b) find the entrance point. What do I mean with the entrance point? With that I mean an furry art style that is similar to yours. Like, if you draw anime and want to move on to furries, i would suggest looking into sum furry art styles that are mixed with the anime (
MARIAN0 springs to my mind) and use that as starting point. Now, most people would object that this is just copying a style and not art at all, to which i say - no. You dont have to pick that style and stick to it - you just need the "crutches" to get started - as the time progresses, you will not need those crutches any longer and can start personalyzing the style. I started with copying the style from
driprat , best known for the Jack comic, which you can clearly see in my old pictures ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/968287/ ). You can choose to upload art before you started with personalyzing or after you are done, that is yours to choose - just never forgett those artists :3. At this point, you are fitt for tutorials and such, so you can either use those or work yourself up with sheer muscle power and bunch of time you have free - that is yours to choose. The time you need to assimmilate to new art style will vary, depending of how much you drawed before, but it will mostly take you not long - you will be drawing your furries in bout a half a year/year (min/max, depending on the time you invest) and can start personalising your art. Ill say just this one thing - if you enjoy the style of another artist, chances are good that you can work along that style. Dont be ashamed about it, since every artist, new or old, are working towards a goal set up by an artist that is more skilled than them at their current point of learning. Just dont go copy-pasting the art and call it your own - it doesnt help you at all, aside of few nice comments before fanboys get the wind of it and insult ya to the ground ;3
Good things to know about art
- EVERYONE CAN DRAW!!! And i mean it! The only difference is the level of skill, and skill comes with time and practice, so get on with it!
- Talent is optional! Art talent is same as Music talent - the later lets you hear the fine tone differences and learn languages quicker thanks to that while the first one lets you see the nuances in the things you draw like shape, size, anatomy and so on. It makes your progress faster, but a talented artist that doodles once a week will be on lower lever of skill than an Talent-less person that doodles every day. So, again - PRACTICE!!!
- There is no good or bad - this is an art, not a competition! You can look up to an artist, aspire to mimick the style of your favorite artist, but you should never see them as better or others as worse - its just the question of skill. Many people have called me out on this view, but i remain firm - grading how good/bad a person is can either make you sad, loose interest in art cause you just cant seem to reach your goal or turn you into elitist that forgott how they started out. If you dont like the style, dont look at it! It just means there is nothing to learn there.
- You cant compare art styles! Eeach and everyone is as different as the people who practice them - different art style doesnt mean good or bad, there is only the level of skill as mentioned above. But you cant compare apple and oranges, and thats why you cant compare the art styles. Also good to remember and make community a better place ;3
- Once again: DOODLE ALL THE TIME!!! Keep yourself in shape, draw ten circles for example a day as if they are sit ups for your drawing hand. As the time progresses, you will get your standard pose, but i will talk about that some other time.
- Art is an perpetum mobile of ideas - the more you draw, the more ideas you will get!
- Learn new stuff! You can only draw what you know, so get to reading :D Find out how guns work, Look into inner workings of a Vehicle, understand how plants grow etc etc. The more informed you are, the better you get at drawing and the better will the stories be that you put your characters in. For the projects ive been working on, ive read several books on Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, Weapons and so on. You have ideas - give these ideas a stable fundament ;3
- If you arent in mood to draw - DONT DO IT!!! Never push yourself to draw - art has to come out and cant be forced out. If you are having a bad day and need to unvind and you REALLY want to drav, doodle instead. Lineart a Pic you made at sum point or color it. Finishing touches are easy thing to do, requiring only time, while creating art itself is a process, so dont ruin your day even further with unseccesfull art tryout :3 Leave it for now, unvind and try again later/tomorrow.
- Again and again - keep doodling! If there is an art block, dont fret - just keep doodling to keep yourself in art shape. When ideas pour in again, you can continue drawing without having to go back into drawing again for few days. Art is a bitch - ignore it for a while and you need to work yourself back into shape again!
- Allow yourself to be influenced! You arent ripping off anyone if you see that an artist is drawing ears the way you like them more and you decide to start drawing them that way. In the end, that detail will look much different than in the style you saw it in first time as you keep fitting it in into your style.
- There is a beginning to your journey to become an artist - but there isnt an end! You will never stop improving, unless you decide to do it :3 You will always find a better way to draw something, keep adding new ideas that come with your growing knowledge - Art itself is an adventure, so enjoy every second of it!
- And last (but not least) - have fun! Enjoy art and the feeling of being able to put your ideas forth not only in written word, but also visually! The road will not be easy and will require lots of work and dedication, but trust me - there is nothing more enjoyable than to see yourself progress and see people enjoy your work ;3
And those are the main things I wanted to say and that i kept saying to anyone that asked me about art. I will work on some tutorials in the future - How to draw Male/Female, How tod raw Heads and Muzzle (most people seem to having most difficulities with them), Standard pose, Anatomy, Stances, Movement and such. Ill just note here that im not a teacher - im just giving some tipps on how to draw certain thing. I never went to art school, never did an course and have never read a tutorial in my life - i kept working until i reached the current level, doing the good old trial and error method. I was influenced by bunch of sources, like artists (
MadPolar as the most important of the bunch, since his art got me into furries to beginn with ^^), but also movie, litterature, games and such. The career was full of up and downs, but in the end, i remain happy :3
Also, If you have any questions, dont be afraid to PM me - i will try to help you as best as i can ^^ Also, if there is any topic you guys would like me to cover, write it in the comments! If its something i can, i will do it, if its something i cant do yet, i will learn it - just dont ask for sexuall or heavily-fetish things, since i want these tutorials to be viewed from as many people as possible, in hope i can help sum aspiring artist out there ;3
With that said, I wish ya all to have sum fun and enjoy your Hollidays ;D

# AND KEEP DOODLING!!!!
I am so mad right now!
General | Posted 12 years agoMajor rant and spoilers regarding "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "Game of Thrones" ahead - you have been warned!
As i grew older, i became less and less invested in things i did - video games, books, movies...whatever happened there hardly glanced me, with few exceptions like "Lost Odyssey", that left me sobbing for a character that was in the game for 10 minutes. One can argue, that the ammount of Media ive been exposed over the years left me with thicker skin or the "Seen in already..." attitude and i was hardly vexed by anything - this might explain why i failed to see why MLP was such a huge deal, even after giving it a shot and watching first five episodes - things just hardly click for me any more...at least, thats what i thought before yesterday!
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and I have a history together - i got to read first two books at the time i was still young and unspoiled and even kinda enjoyed the first one, although the second one was pretty dull for me at the time. I kinda forgot about this piece of work for a while and now, ten years later, decided to finally finish the whole thing. Seeing that im well equipped with kindle and long trips back and fro to serbia, i got myself all the 5 original books and sat down to read them - and by bob, I am sooooo upset! Even more upset than that time i read that Catelyn Stark, my least favorite character from "GoT", came back to life! What got me so upset, you might ask? Well, Im about to tell you that-
Before i indulge deeper into this territory, let me give you a quick recap of the books:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - classic! In my opinion, if you need to read one to get all the references that float around the internet, read this one. It was based on a Radio Play, so the humor is something to get used to, since it depends highly on the things that we dont see, but ill get to that in a moment.
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe - Quite dull, but better than third
Life, the Universe and Everything - worse than 2nd, has the "Will Smith" thing, where you forgett about it as soon as it ends.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish - Different than the rest, gives a (imho) perfect end to the story that begun as an open play.
And thats all the book you should read - by all means, DO NOT READ THE FIFTH BOOK!!! Its the very one that got me soooo upset, that i even sat down to write it! I know, many people told me i shouldnt read it, but i have this perverted joy in watching the series to the end, as it lies down crumbled and utterly destroyed, just to see what happens when the crativity dies out and jumping the shark just doesnt cut it - very reason i played "Silent Hill: Homecoming" in the first place! But, nothing could get me prepeared for the utter and complete bullshit snadwich that was "Mostly Harmless", the last of the original books writen by Douglas Adams!
The fourth book had a good closure, a bit kitchy "love always preveails" kind of end, but i didnt mind! I was actually happy that Arthur Dent finally found love and peace in universe that is filled to the brim with assholes (even more than in Faster than Light video game, mind you). It was a nice thing to do, a gentleman thing to do, letting your (main) charakter finally have sum rest after being dogged around for three books like luggage. Its not a great book, mind you, but its as good as the series could get after the first one. Even the god awful humor was put to rest for most of the time. Yeah, the humor is bad in these books. As mentioned earlier, its based on Radio Play, so the humor sounds mostly as if someones hyperactive kid who saw a movie is giving you a recap of the best scenes and wont budge, even if begged by the parents to finally shut up and go play with their legos. Yes, these are highly unfunny books, but i liked the lingo in them so good that i sat through to the end. And the other thing that plagued me through my reading was the ammount of assholes that float around the universe - its 100 percent asshole density! And i dont mean only the main cast - everyone is pure breed asshat! If any conversations that play in that books would happen in real life, i assure you people would die after the initial exchange. And dont go "But Pav, thats what funny about it! Everyone being asshole is funny!" - No, it isnt! Reading through this is like sitting at McDonalds children party where they only sure sugar puffs and trying to strike a conversation with the drunkards that raided the party while bothered by the local hippies high on weed to protect the animals every five seconds! Its annoying and really tiring, reading through 2nd and 3rd book took me longer than it should because how tired it made me. But, im strafing off the topic...
Yes, the fifth book, the REAL closure to the series - its garbage of unseen proportions! Arthur Dent is return to status quo with Fenchurch, his GF from fourth book, dissapearing during one flight and out of the book for good - really!? You want to tell me that, love of his life and a person that Arthur here is so connected to, just dissapears? And its atrocious! She isnt even mentioned again the whole book! Even Marvel did best retconing than this!!! And what for? So we can put Arthur back into more danger and useless wandering through the galaxy to meet more assholes of course! Everything this character learned and gained through last four books is gone, just to excuse more of sensless wandering and falling down the ditch! But i wouldnt mind if the story would focus on him alone - after all, hes the least assholey of all the characters. But no, guess whos back? Trillian!!! Shes the most boring and bland character ive ever seen in a work of fiction, even blander than Kratos' wife! And we are focusing on her version from different timeline too, which is blander than the usual one? Well, color me excited! And yeah, Ford Prefect, the biggest butthole of them all, is also here, whoop-tee-doo.
I just cant convey how painfull it was to read through this one, since i had that nagging "Whats the point of all this?" question nagging through my head the whole time. I even thought about stopping reading all together, which, in retrospect, might have been a better idea.
But yeah, what do we gain from all this? Arthur crashlands on another planet and works as sandwich maker for the local human-like tribe. And i would be ok if the story ended here - it was the shit, compared to the ending from the last book, but its better than the REAL ending. Out of nothing, Trillian (The original one) apears and hands him a kid, since hes the father - basically, he donated his dna and spunk to pay for the trip around the galaxy and Trillian impregnated her bland self with it and now its arthurs duty to care about the bland-spawn. The kid is even named Random! If the whole premise wasnt sounding as if it was pulled right out of Douglas' (now deceased) ass, this one drives the point home. And that kid is one of those terible, TV kids that you just want to punch in the face until they stop moving. And this whole plot serves only the sole purpose to get Arhtur, Ford, Trillian and Bizzaro-Trillian back on earth so they can be destroyed for good by the Vogons - and thats IT!!! The only likable character you ever wrote in all of your fucking books, and you kill him off Douglas? And not even the good way - he just dies. The Paragraph ends and in the next one hes no more. Gone for good.
Now, im the one fully for the freedom of expresion and such, but this is just bad. It's the most stupidest way to end the series possible. I know, the thoughts of his soon-to-happen demise might have colored his disposition. Maybe he wanted to prevent anymore of those being written (which failed, since there is one more). The fact in the end remains, killing off your character is ok - killing them off in such a stupid manner is not. Their death serve nothing - they dont serve the plot, they dont serve their characters, it only serves to waste more pages and more of my time.
I am aware that some (or most) people will disagree with me, but this is just how i feel - i feel cheated. I could have stoped with the fourth book and be happy and carry on with my life. But the fifth book just jumped the shark by killing off all the cast for nothing. And that remains my problem - they died and went through the last adventure for NOTHING!!! And just the fact that we established that there ARE different timelines and dimensions, there are more of Arthur Dent, running around and asking for tea, so there is no purpose in this plot. True, it sounds like the vogons destroyed every last planet earth there is, but its so convoluted and stupid i dont even want to think about it.
But here I am, brain the size of a planet, rambling about books that are seen as classic by the most, yelling betrayal at writer that is dead for almost 13 years, and for what?
...I think im starting to understand the MLP and Fandoms in general right about now, so thanks for that...

Taking a prolonged break (It's official now :O)
General | Posted 12 years agoAs most of you might have noticed, there's hardly been any update lately from me - two months to be exact - and it looks like it will stay that way for a while. As it is, i lost any interest in Art lately, well, actualy lost my interest in everything and spend most of my days either gaming or just lying on the bed and reading - long story short, i reached my all-time low. Until i manage to get back onto my feet and start giving a damn about life, world and everything, there will be maybe just a few to none pics from me. And because of that, i can no longer keep the people who commissioned me waiting and rather choose to cancel them all-together, im sorry for any incovinience.
Game of Thrones *Spoilers*

Price change on the commissions
General | Posted 13 years agoHeyas People,
Since im going to college from march onwards and cant really do any full time job to keep my costs covered or save up (still, ill manage to cover the basic costs and even feed now and then ^^), I have to, even tho it saddens me, up the prices by 10/5€.
From now on, the price for full color Commish will be 40€ and for lineart 20€, costs for extra chars and BGs remain the same - i allready updated the Journal with the Pricelist.
I also wont do any Second Life commissions any longer, seeing that im hardly there and wont be there for quite a while.
Just to get this out of the way - People who commissioned me before i wrote this journal will get their commish at old prices!
Im sorry for the incovinience

My little pony... conclusion
General | Posted 13 years agoI want to thank everyone who decided to share their thoughts on my plea in the (now deleted) journal - it offered me valuable insight on community and humans in general and, to top it off, helped me a lot with my current work :3 As for my true thoughts on MLP - i coultn't honestly care at all, since it doesnt really affect me in any way ;D
But, let me mention the three winners of our little project, that decided to ragequit and unwatch my page:
1) Why so srs?
2) read this, it will help you a lot in future http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ar.....of_Being_Right - it's more or less a guide how to troll efficiently. That one is for free ;3
3) Dont let the door hit you on your way out.
But, before i end this journal, i want to explain what my "current work" is about. Well, beside the fact that im working on my eristic is a test i wanted to engage for a while after a talk with
regarding the mlp and similar fandoms, that saying anything against it would lead to shitstorm. Well, im happy to conclude, that most of the people who commented in defense of MLP absolutely missed the point of my plea while few managed to form a question based on what i actually stated. Let me begin:
- Even tho i never stated that people should stop drawing MLP Characters, few of the guys sumhow got the hint that i was against ANY kind of MLP art and im actually ordering people to stop drawing anything regarding the mentioned show. It's either the fact, that said people never read the sentence i wrote to the end or decided to shift the whole thing into other perspective, trying to turn tables and insert meaning into the sentence that was never there. Even tho its effective, this tactic is quite primitive and easely to avoid, even offering an opening for counter attack - do try to avoid that, there are better ways to make OP looks silly and stupid.
- Since we are on topic - you cant compare things from different planes of existance to mlp. by this, i mean a single comment that decided the best way to win the argument is to compare my hate towards MLP to sadly still widespread hate towards Homosexuall Rights and Pro Choice. It's a cheap shot and it didnt worked at all - it was an overblown commparriason and you could just spare yerself the typing time and call me a nazi, its same thing you wanted to say in first place.
- Sum people tended to come into the discussion, believing themselves smarter and better than the rest - it's sad, but to be honest, I wasnt surprised to get at least one person with this attitude to comment here. So, here are my thoughts a) You shouldn't be the first to insult the Intelligence of the other Person first, leave this to your rival - stating that you are smarter shows either ignorance or endless stupidity, leaving you open for counter attack, even the weakest arguments can get you down at this point and b) If you decide to use any tactic to discredit the rival, expect it to come back :3
I could really go on with this, but i think i allready said enough on this topic ;3 So, for everyone that missed the fun and to those who stayed - see ya later ;3

Narthena RPG - LFG
General | Posted 13 years agoWhy I lost my faith in humanity...
General | Posted 13 years agoSumone explain me this - why can i NOT buy the newest Mortal Kombat on crappy austrian Amazon, but why can i get the official strategy guide for that game? And while we're at it, why are there still new copies of Mortal Kombat - Special Forces? Why does that crap still exist and, most importantly, why does it cost 35 € !?!
Open for Commissions
General | Posted 13 years agoLast few months were quite harsh to me - the Job was taking even more of my time, the constant 12 Hour day shifts were really wearing me down to the point that I wasn't able to do anything productive once i got home, except a pic or two ya guys saw. Well, that's over now since i quit my Job as security on April the 1st - bet they did'nt saw that prank coming, did they? Anyways, one more shift stands between me and my jobless state and dont worry, I allready have some weird Plan formed in my head.
The main thing about this is that im again able to take commissions and that they wont take a month to be done :D Before anyone asks, I'm not planing to live off my artwork, but rather use the downtime to hone my skills further, draw sum silleh stuff and, ofcourse, commissions.
So, if yo're interrested, just drop me a note ;3

Some of my Fav Horror Movies Part 2
General | Posted 13 years agoContinuing my list from yesterday -> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3356146/ . This time, I'm going to adress some well known franchises and a gem or two :3
Alien (1979)
I'm sure its a sin if you enjoy any sci-fi horror movies and dont know about Alien. Created in year 1979 by Ridley Scott, featuring Alien design by H.R.Giger, this Sci-Fi horror is a cult Movie that spawned countless copy cats. The franchise counts four movies with a prequell Prometheus coming soon. For some reason or another, my personal opinion is that only first movie is ture horror while the others are action movies with horror elements - Aliens by James Cameron was more of an action flick but actualy incorporated all the things we connect with Alien. Alien three was a troubled production and what David Fincher brought us is either a great Horror Sci-Fi or a bad alien movie - depending enitrely if you started with alien 1 or 2. Alien Resurrection is a mixed bag - from design perspective, its a great movie and has a distinct Jean-Pierre Jeunet flavor (who brought us City of lost Children and Amelie) but isnt everyones movie. All in all, Alien is a great series, from first to last, having a perfect mix of themes for anyone to enjoy. My Fav still remains the first one :3
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
This i also one long series, counting seven movies, one Versus movie and a remake, that brought us the wisecracking killer Fred Krueger or Freddy. This is a very well known franchise created by Wes Craven which started as real Horror movie to end up as a horror Comedy by the 6th part - there are only few horror series that changed their tone this drastically (the texas chainsaw massacre for egsample). The problem with this, you can either be a fan of the Horror or the funny Fred which can quickly divide the fandom of the movie - I quite enjoyed parts 1 and 3 while 6th was a pain to sit through, but then again, it depends entirely on mood and what you expect from Elm Street movies to give you :3 I cant tell much about the 2010 remake, since i dont really want to watch it to be honest due to the lack of interrest while Freddy Vs. Jason is a mixed bag - you get a nice monster mash or a really cheesy movie. And speaking of jason...
Friday the 13th (1980)
First movie of the series is a great cheap ass Horror while the rest of the series quickly ran the whole thing into the ground - i mean, they had ten movies, mentioned versus movie AND a remake to wear the formula down. Firday the 13th, Halloween and A nightmare of the Elm Street are the best examples of slasher genre of Horror where theres are mostly bunch of people being stalked and taken down one by one by the killer - most horror thropes come from this genre (Fat guy dies first, Sex equals death and so on). In my opinion, best movies from the series are 1,2 and maybe 3 - one being the original and having a nice twist at the end, 2 and 3 for introducing jason to us (altho second one had me laughing thru most of the movie, so im considering everything after first as horror comedy, ill just say one word - sack)
Candyman (1992)
Another one based on short story The Forbidden by Clive Barker and brought to us by bernard Rose. Together with Hellraiser, its a second movie based on Clive Barkers stories that is watchable - Book of Blood and Midnight meat train being god awfull movie addaptations. Why i like this movie is its good atmosphere, sickness that only could come from Clive Barker and a perfect early 90s feel that only few movie managed to bring over to me ;D As with most 90s horrors, the decade that didnt brought us many legends, it's a mixed bag but still one of my favs. And yes, there are two more of these, although i never brought up the interrest to actualy look them up :<
The Omen (1976)
This is one of often overlooked Horror series, brough to us by same guy who brought us Superman - Richard Donner. The series counts four movies and a remake which flew under my radar (dunno if its worth anyones time, but ill check it out ;3) and is your typical Antichrist story with great atmosphere, sum disturbing imagery and likeable protagonist. If you havent, really check this one out - the other three are quite meh~
Halloween (2007)
This ought to earn me much hate, but to hell with it - i like the Rob Zombies remakes better then the original, same as with dawn of the dead. Why i like them better? It's probably cuz i love the fucked up view of the World and Humanity Zombie pictures in his movies and an unique atmosphere, but the main reason is cuz i didnt went meh while watching the movies. But yes, the original series was brought to us by John Carpentner in year 1978 and spawned seven sequels with the third being the one most hated due to the fact theres no Michael Myers in it. As said, i like the remake better and the second one is still giving me chills for most unpropriate usage of "Love Hurts"
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
One of the most famous Tobe Hoopers movies, Texas Chainsaw massacre is a gritty, atmospheric and sick horror movie that doesnt involve as much splatter as the title would suggest. I skipped on its sequels and gave one of the remakes a try, but they were either meh or (as with remakes) forgettable. The first one might be hard to sit throught, but its a must for every horror Fan - after all, you want to know where Leatherface comes from ;3
The Others (2001)
If you hate Nicole Kidman as much as i do---still, give this movie a look. It's an great, atmospheric piece of Horror Cinema with great chars and scares. I wont give much of the stories since this is a Fight Club style of movie - once ya know how it ends, you dont need to see it ever again ;3
Day of the Dead (1985)
I mentioned this one as i talked about Dawn of the Dead remake and i consider this one to be the best of Romeros Zombie quadrology. It's exactly what you expect from Romero - the zombies are just an obsticle and the whole thing evolves around the People who are caught in the middle. If you considder trying any of Romeros Zombie flicks, go with this one - Dawn of the dead being too boring and Land of the dead being just an Abuse of good taste. And speaking of zombies...
The return of the living dead (1985)
As far as im concerned, this is a spoof of Zombie franchise, a horror Comedy with great effects, atmosphere and story. But to be honest, it contains the Zombies that will scare the shit out of you as soon as ya learn more about them. Dont trust me? Take a look, it's worth your time ;3
Wolfman (2010)
Here is the movie that earned quite an ammount of hate - truth be told, the acting isnt always the best, the CG is sumtiems piece of crap - but if you overlook that, you're left with one great monster movie, one of the best that hollywood spewed lately. I've watched original 1941 The Wolf Man and i can assure you - you cant compare these two, they are entirely different kind of movies. Where the original was a psychological, story driven movie, the 2010 remake is atmospheric, splattery action - in my opinion, both movies are good for what they are, but i just like the new one better :3 And since we talk bout monsters...
Marry Shelleys Frankenstein (1994)
As with most 90s movies, this one is also quite overlooked, even if it one of the closest addaptations of the otiginal novel. It's a entirely different kind of movie then the well known Universals 1931 flick - 1994 Version is simply 90s, gritty, atmospheric and leave you feeling desperate. Give it a look, its a great movie ;3
Well, that was about it - I named the movies from top of my head without actualy checking out my collection or all the movies that i've seen - the movies i've mentioned left an strong impression on me and still "Haunt" me till this day :D Im sure there are more good movies out there that could easely sweep me from my feet - after all, i still got The Sentinel, Vampyr and several other movies planed in my "Got to see list", so this list might get longer ;3

Some of my Fav Horror Movies
General | Posted 13 years agoSeeing that I've spent good part of my young life watching (and not so much) collecting Horror movies, its only natural that most of my Best Movies EVAH list consist entirely out of - go figure- Horror movies. Since i dont want to make yet another Top 5/10 of my Fav movies, since most of the Movies i like are dependant on mood im in, here they are, my must see list and also thoughts on some horror franchises with cult following. I will leave most of the exploitation gore flicks i saw like Zombi 2 and such, since Explotation movies are living off a great scene or two that swim on the ocean of dullness that the rest of the movie is. Without further ado, here ya go, few of my Favs
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
In my humble opinion, if someone wants to start with silent era horror movies, this is the place to go, even before giving Nosferatu a look. The Sets are expristionistic with painted shadows, harsh lines and unreal geometry, giving the movie a dream like feel and a unique tone. If you're interrested, give it a look, its on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALqnSUMHPrA&feature=watch-now-button&wide=1
The shining (1980)
This is probably one of the best known movies by Stanley Kubrick, righte there with 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's a great little piece of cinema, with great sets, soundtrack and acting - it is a must see for every horror fan :3
Hellraiser 1,2 & 5 (1987, 1988 and 2000)
Hellraiser is quite a long movie series based on book The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker that brought us Pinnhead and nine movies. As far as Horror Novelist go, Clive Barker is probably my Favourite, bringing animalstic needs and desires of human nature better then any other Writer i know. The first Hellraiser is, as the beginning of the franchise, a must see - its bloody, gritty and fairly disturbing. The Hellbound (Hellraiser 2) has a entirely different Tone, turning into your standard Splatter fest movie but is still one of my favs. Third is a letdown and fourth is Hellraiser IN SPACE!!! The fifth movie in the series has a great story and is, in my opinion, right there with first movie - hey, it was so good, they reused the story for part 7. The rest of the series is quite a dissapointment, with Hellword treating the Hellraiser as a online VG ( shitty one too). If you are interrested in the series, Part 1-4 follow the "Main Story", while the movies after that have their own story with use of Cenobites. I havent watched the ninth Movie, but yeah, ill give it a shot ;3
Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive (1977 and 2001)
These two movies got only one thing in common - they are made by David Lynch. They are not, technically, horror movies - but damn, they are uncanny. Both movies feel like fever nightmares and survive (for most part) without jump scares. If ya want sumthing to scratch your head for next few days, give 'em a try.
Nosferatu (1979)
If you ever wanted to watch Nosferatu - well, you could give the 1922 Original a try...or, you could go for Werner Herzog#s remake which, in my opinion, still holds water and saves you sum unwanting hillarious scenes from the original. The Movie has its own tone, a gritty and uncanny one which makes you uncomfortable, but still, ya want to see it to the end. Can't really describe, see it for yourself ;3
Suspiria (1977)
If i would name a masterpiece of Horror Movies, i would'nt know what to place on first place - Suspiria is a close call tho. In this movie from Dario Argento, everything is set to make an disturbing and unique atmosphere - from the lighting, to collors, set design, acting and music by Goblins - everything works together so good to scare the living shit out of you.
Silent Hill (2006)
Silent Hill is one of those movies that failed catastrophicly because of the Fans of the video game. The common complaint by all the fans are that theres no Harry Mason and Cherryl and that the cult crap is making them cringe - and also, Pyramid Head cameo. Compared to most Horror movies of last decade, Christophe Gans made - in my opinion - a great movie, even one of the best Video Game Addaptations. Im happy he didnt went with Harry/Cherryl combo and remade Silent Hill 1, but rather based the story loosely on it with New Characters in familliar roles - if i wanted to see a movie 100% true to the game, ill just play the game, i wont go out of my way to buy a ticket and see the whole thing again on big screen. As for monster Cameos - hey, its a VG Addaptation, at least they added sumthing familiar, not them creepy goombas from Super mario movie. Trust me and give the movie a chance ;3
Dawn of the dead (2004)
Speaking of underrated - i might end up stoned for this, but I think that remake is better then original. Really. I slept in on the original and that happened to me only on 1-2 movies. I wont go in detail on this one except to say it's just what i expect from a zombie movie - running zombies just seem like a bogger threat to me then the slowpokes they used to be. When i think about it, original Day of the Dead was an awesum movie, give that one a look too ;D
The Exorcist (1973)
Ah yes, the movie that made me run for the light switch. Its a classic for a good reason - creepy atmosphere, feeling helpless against the odds...this movie is to Horror Movies what Citizen Kane is to Movie Crittics. The less i say about it, the better - more for ya to discover ;D
The Thing (1982)
This movie by John Carpenter is considered as a must see by most people and once you watch it, you will know why. It is one of those movies that make me feel Nostalgic for some reason or another, but as far as Sci Fi horror goes, this is on par with the Alien, if not even better. Give also the 2011 Movie a try - it aint so bad as people make it out to be.
Evil Dead (1981)
Ah yes, the Movie that made a living Legend out of Bruce Campbell - it's good for scares and for laughter, depends on mood and people you're watching it with ;D A Must see, just for the fact to know what launched cheap, cabin horrors to mainstream.
Braindead (1922)
Last, of what i like to call, Peter Jackson triology that includes Bad Taste and meet the Feebles (which are both great, entertaining movies on their own). braindead is a Horror Commedy, overly gorey and a splatter to the bone. For any Zombie/Splatter fan a must see.
Ok, there will be definetly more comming, since i still havent mentioned some Horror Classics and remakes that are actualy good. tbc

Looking for minecraft server
General | Posted 14 years agoHeyas guys...lately, i started gaming minecraft again with two friends of mine (
and
)on the survival server im hosting. Due to the fact i dont trust my internet connection or my PC either to sustain more then ~players simoultaniously and seeing that i crave for a bigger group, im officialy looking for a server :o Im interrested in survival and possibly non-pvp server (or if pvp is optional, i had my share of ganking in wow while collecting flowers).
As for my play style, im support builder (farms, generators and similar). I also like to experiment with redwire and tnt a lot, altho i try to keep the damage to the surroundings low ^^; On top of that, i tend to go exploring for a while and build underground lairs - so please tell me if this kind of behaviour is disliked on the server

Three questions meme...again
General | Posted 14 years agoIm at work, bored...for sum amusement, lets do this one again - ask three questions concerning my art, characters or persona, and ill try answering em as best as i can ;3
Oh, the irony...
General | Posted 14 years agoYou might think that Double Hellix studios, developer of the craptastic Silent Hill: Homecomming (ranted about it here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2723975/) couldnt add any insult to the injury they allready inflicted to me as a silent hill fan - but they managed. I know, im notorious for finding about stuff after every person and their cat allready heard about it hundred tiems, but this kinda gave me the "reality slap". I actualy love few game companies and enjoy (almoust) every game they brought to existance - Blizzard, Bullfrog and Shiny entertainment. After playing and enjoying such classics as MDK, Earthworm Jim 2 and Sacrifice, i must say i only could utter the darth vaider NOOOOOOOOOOO after finding out that double hellix IS Shiny entertainment - well, half of it, but thats enough to ruin my will to live. If everyones looking for me, ill be on the bridge railing...
Skyrim
General | Posted 14 years agoIts been roughly a month since i bought this game and as a big fan of morrowind, i can only say - meh...
Its a great single player expiriance, thats true - IF you are looking for a time sink, easly comparred to WoW or such, since Storywise, this is a quite weak game. I mean, Oblivvion was far more worse, althought it had sum interresting quests, or at least an interresting way to solve them - Skyrim, with all its technical cappabillities turned to be a boring "Go there, fetch me this" quest-galore executed in most dull way possible and with most uninterresting backstory that they could find. I still havent beat the game, but i allready finished some of the quest lines and had to concentrate hard to be invested in them. Dark brotherhood is weak as hell, and dont let me start on Thieves Guild and Companions - even the daedric quests (where Morrowind and Oblivion shine with their creativity) are just a bore fest "Go and kill that guy and bring me XY item". It just seams they invested all the time they could to dumb the interface and gameplay down and concentrate on exploration to give us, the players, an valid reason to be invested in the whole crap that is going on - even the dragons get boring after ya slayed 2-3 of them. I wish i could bring a specific egsamples of bad storytelling, but the main problem is also, the whole quests are forgettable, so i cant quite remember of a good one...
But lets talk about the interface - first off, i LOVE the dual casting, well, dual wielding in general - its a fresh wind in the series and allows for interresting combinations. The Menus are good for the consoles (i own a xbox 360 copy), but show its weakneses in enchantment menu. As far as ive heard, the PC version is worse in this matter, but yeah...cant really tell. But let me go over my main complaint - the Skills and Leveling. All possible roleplaying is taken away as soon as the character can advance in Level with ANY skill - you can literarry level up by farting all the time (at least, thats how i call the speech skill, which degenerated to gimmicky skill...well, one of the skill that took that way - ill just say alchemy). I know i dont speak for everyone, but i just cant expiriance the game if i cant give myself and act as a certain role. Leveling up in Skyrim has no tactic to it and really no right or wrong timing - there is no possibillity to "level wrong" or be overpowered - it doesnt matter how you skill up, the challenge is always medicore, well, as long as you dont run into enemies with instant kill moves. Also, lowering the mass of attributes to three is just plain dumbing down. Also, i cant wrap my head around the skill points - no matter how hight your skill is, it feels like ass unless you invested sum points in the skill tree. Its a lazy design and i could think of hundreds of better ways to improove it, I mean, how do you learn off the bat how to chop someones head off? Why cant i do that automaticly when i reach a certain level? Why do I have to bring a star to shine in order to learn that? Would, I dont know, a QUEST be too much to ask? Find a blademaster, fetch a thing for him (since thats how everything gets resolved in skyrim - oh wait, you can start a brawl too) and hell teach ya how to chop heads off yer enemies...The whole "Skill points to make little stars twinkle" doesnt make any sence to me, at least not in Elder Scrolls game.
All in all, Skyrim feels like a wattered down version of Oblivion, which is wattered down version of Morrowind which, again, is an more accassable version of Daggerfall - yeah, make a game like Daggerfall again, ya Bethesda Chipmunks (Not the City, the Company). From twenty something diseasses in that dos game, only one didnt killed you - or is that too complicated for the general audience? I just want a game with a good story and a giant world - you allready did it with Morrowind (and Oblivion to much lesser extent) - why is it hard to get a quest in skyrim that doesnt feel like made in Quest Generator 7? Every single line feels like the whole writing staff decided to win "Who can write the blandest text" tournament.
But yeah, Im spiting on a game that ive been playing CONSTANTLY for past month - as said, exploration is a key word and only thing you want to see is whats hiding behind next corner, whats adventures are to be found in a dungeon or if the next dragon fight wont be won without using glitches...speaking of which, the Bugs arent as sewere as i feared - at least, there are no bugs that make you start a new game (yet). But yeah, Bethesda game without bugs just doesnt feel right and no matter how much a bitch about skyrim (trust me, the same ammount and allmoust the same things as when i bitched about oblivion), im still interrested what will come next? How much can they dumb it down? I - for once- hope its going to be TES Adventures, since redguard just wasnt enough ;D
And now, out of order, more reasons why i dislike Skyrim (even tho i cant stop playing it)
- Fighting skills are fucking overpowered! You can bash everyone and everything to death with your shield, and once you wish upon certain stars, it doesnt matter what you wield - you always pound enemies to the ground...
- Theres no Athletics and NO Acrobatics - sorry, i just dont feel like a thief if i cant jump more then a feat up in the air.
- Turning into a Werewolf is equivalent of drawing a bulseye on your chest and run nakked on battlefield. You do no damage, sustain little to none damage on your own ( i was killed with one hit, even tho i was pure strength character) and look like a sumthing i would draw 10 years ago.
- Vampires walk in broad daylight - let that sink in...
- once again for the record, Alchemy is USELESS!!!!
- Enchanters cant refill your magic items - not that you needed it, since the items have more charges then all items i found in morrowind put together.
- Marriage feels like an "Achievement get" thing - i cant get less invested about a ingame character that sprouts three different sentences all the time.
- Hand to Hand is overpowered and doesnt even has its own skill!
- Pickpocketing shouldnt be a extra skill - since morrowind, its same as sneak. Why cut a perfect working skill in two when you could put in - oh, i dont know- FUCKING ACROBATICS!?!
- merchants are bugged as hell - sometimes they wont sell stuff at legitimates time, restock at pure random or dont show up at all...really, i lost a merchant, imagine that? He just didnt showed up to work one day and i never saw him again...guess he decided to enjoy a good life after i invested 500 coins in his smithy, clever dude...
- why do the guys in newly explored dungeons, at high level, still drop such a bad loot?
- why is smithing so overpowered? Not only you can access the best weaponry as early as lvl 15 (really, i ran out with daedric weaponry and full glass armor just cause i happened to find two unintended daedra hearts - figure that out...speaking of which)
- why are daedric hearts both used in Smithing and Alchemical skills? Decide game! And also...
- Why cant i create anything exotic with smithing skill? If the game tries so hard to be like WoW, let me buy some Smithing recepies off traders around the world.
- Houses are still a joke - i want my Morrowind Like stronghold back!
- Question: who reports me killing the last eye witness? Shouldnt that take away my bounty instead of increasing it? No perfect crime in Skyrim, i guess...
- Everyone fucking knows where you are, no matter how good you sneak...
- Why can a dude still atack me with three arrows stuck in his head?
- and some more...
And, as a treat, ill tell you about my funniest Story from this darn game:
In whiterun, i decided to upgrade my weapons and headed off to smithy. Adrianne was sitting there, sharpening a sword on a grinding stone, so i forced her away and sat myself down. As i was working, she started talking "Have you met my fathers, hes UGH". I was kinda currious what happened, so i stood up and found that she fell from a feet high slope down to the watter stream which killed her instantly. As a true hero, I ransacked her body, leaving only her naked rump to be carried away by the stream. Knowing i cant sell anything to her now, i went inside the Warmaiden in order to sell my stuff to Ulfberth, only to find him heart broken over Adriannes demise from just few seconds ago. "News travel fast here" i told to myself, leaving the Warmaiden only to be greeted by a postman who gave me Adriannes Last will and 100 coins - while her still warm body was being washed down the ditch just few feet to the left...I think i spent next five minutes laughing out loud about the absurdity of the whole situation and really, who wouldnt ;3
Help needed indentifying a sega mega drive game...
General | Posted 14 years agoEdit!
The game in question was found by
- it was Doom Troopers Chronicles all along X3 http://www.consoleclassix.com/genes.....hronicles.html
As i was just a young lad with a nekkid beard back in serbia, i owned an used sega mega drive. The game library i posessed was humble at most, counting just few games in it like Sonic 1 and 3, Street Fighter 2 and that futuristic Phantom game (Phantom sumthing a.d.)...as you might imagine, i spent most time borrowing or swapping the games with local gamer dens and played such all time classics as Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, FIFA and NBA 96 and little mermaid (i never said i knew better...). But theres one game thats been haunting me to this very day and i just cant remember its title, even if my life depended on it! It mustve been quite a generic game for the system and i doubt it ever gained a cult following, but seeing that the games in Serbia back then were a rare feast which you couldnt simply buy at the next store (actualy, there was just one, ONE official game dealer called Beosoft - the rest was bought privatly all around the planet...what can i say, one of the whidespreadest consoles was Terminator 2...just dont let me start on that one, it was horrendous...) the games i played found its place in my heart (xcept little mermaid, it fucking suckd!). Yea, its my piece of nostalgia...i havent heard about Zelda or even Metroid for years to come. But anyways, back to the game - as said, its yer basic shoot-em-up platformer, sumwhat liek contra with better graphic and funky music (at least, i nthought that back then...actualy, scratch that, i didnt know what contra is either at dat point). It was single/ two players co-op game where ya could choose between a bulky marine with heavy Maschinegun, wearing sum kind of blue armor AND a gray robot guy with dual MPs and (what i thought back then) a beautifull, sandy yellowish mane. The game had several levels, consisting of two or more parts and an boss fight at the end, spreaded over several planets of our solar system . i think the first was venus, then there was also jupiter and pluto. The game was bloody as hell, with enemies getting their bodies ripped and shredded appart, featuring a lenghty death animation before they dropped thru the floor (now that i write it, it does sound silly...). The bossez were also quite sick, the first one being a canibalistic skeleton sitting on a pile of bones and throwing sum at you, which you have to deflect before drowning in that guys puke - yeah, he pukes constantly and you can drown in it...
Anyways, if anyone knows this game, please share the name - at least ill have a chance to put it at a test and maybe finaly rid of my nostalgic glasses - or, in case with Castelvania 2 on game boy, relive my childhood again <3

The only good way to celebrate Valentine's Day
General | Posted 14 years agoPeople who are unfortunate enough to know me and actualy talk with me know that i loathe "Be nice for a day" celebrations, liek christmas, valentines day and such. Love should be spread equaly over the whole year, gifting flowers and heart--shaped chocolate boxz just wont cut it. So, in my endless wisdom, i bring to you all the only good way to celebrate this corporate crap of a day - play a prank on your partner. It can be as simple and nice as lotion in the sock or super glue instead of toothpaste, up to sum serious ones like chair-to-the-head and (my fav) suckerpunch - the possiblities are endless! Fight, break up, cry and come back together - all in one day and then go on and love eachother the rest of the year - cheers <3
Warhammer 40000: SPACE MARINE review
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, Christmas came earlier to me this year in form of an unexpected gift by an anonymous fan or hater and seeing what He/She gifted me, you be the judge. First of all, Christmas is over, I know, but seeing that I spent 95% of my time working since 14th, you have to bear with me why I decided to post this one now, few hours before New Year. So, what was this gift I’m talking about? Warhammer # SPACE MARINE for most excellent X-Bawks 360 – now you understand why I cant decide if its Fan- or Hate mail, even more due to the note that came with it “Have Fun, lawl <3”. I’m at loss of words, but then again, thanks to the person for sending me this game – at least I even lost sum calories while banging my head against the table, so I guess it’s a plus? Ok, unlike with the Silent Hill 5: The Movie – The game I already talked about in one of my journals, I haven’t spent a single dime on this game to feel sorry for (and yeah, it ain’t worth a dime to begin with…), but still I can’t put my finger what pisses me off more about this game – the fact it’s yet another fail from Games Workshop or the fact that there are people out there who like this – then again, people like “God of War” series, so that shouldn’t surprise me at all. Seeing that I didn’t beat the game yet since I got my hands on Guitar Hero 3 and 5 (It’s a bad start for a game if dull hit-the-buttons-as-they-roll-at-you game play is better then being SPACE MARINE…), but then again, the opening sequence which I already put in a comic was such kick in a balls that nothing could elevate the game from the pool of crap it dug itself into (and it doesn’t). Really, the opening and first level already made me throw my hands up in resignation with amounts of stupidity and lore defying deeds and every normal person asks himself “If it starts like this…how bad can SPACE MARINE still get?”. So, before I start criticizing the game play, let me first summarize the sheer idiocy of the opening. As the game finally enters the main menu, we see the main hero of Warhammer 40000: SPACE MARINE – Captain Titus. He peers into the distance, his eyes looking around franticly – I don’t know what emotion developer tried to induce here, but only thought I had was “He looks uncomfortable to be here”. When you press start, Titus starts smashing orcs in SUPER SLO-MO – wow, how original! Not at all seen in any other game yet! Truly, SPACE MARINE is the high polished gem of video game history!!! Sorry, I shouldn’t be whacking at start menu, but the dullness and already-been-there-feeling of this game just gets me every time. The game opens with a video of MSN chat between two guys we never see or meet, discussing what to do with planet which name I forgot at the same moment I’ve read it. Apparently, it’s a forge world overrun by orcs and in the chat, they over think what to do with it. Exterminatus? Hell no, the world is too valuable! Army? Too far away! What to do? Send the two troops of SPACE MARINE down on the planet and kill everything. Apparently, there is a warlord class Titan down there and FOR EMPRAH, we must save it. Ok, we’re not even out of the opening sequence and the game already pulls out the Bullshit card. So, what game tries to tell us, there is a planet named Graia (thanks Wikipedia), a forge world somewhere in nowhere which hosts a GOD DAMN TITAN LEGION and is unable to defend itself? And to top it off, there is NO OTHER military in the sector that can jump in? Seriously? Apparently, it wasn’t that much of important world, moving on to next stupidity – Extreminatus. You drop down extreminatus on a planet that’s a) Consumed by Chaos or b) about to be consumed by Tyranids, since it’s lost either way…but orcs? If orcs are such problem, why didn’t they blew Armageddon up long ago, even thought there are CONSTANTLY new orcs pouring in? To top it off, extreminatus is the last possible option, and here, its first they propose!? What the hell, lets just blow Graia up for shit and giggles, since imperial guard will take more then two weeks to drop by. And we’re really concerned about ONE warlord titan? What will happen if orcs get it? Make yet another stompa? They already do that from scrap metals, they don’t need that single warlord titan. Anyways, I’m putting too much thought in this. We see the “Troop” of SPACE MARINES, consisting out of three guys…yeah, guys, reading through codex won’t be such a bad idea. Captain Titus, our hero, suggests they use the Jump Packs, since every thunderbird comes with Jump Packs nowadays, ugh… A dude with a helmet and voice filled with such emotions as if he’s lines been read by a lobotomized crack addict brings up that jumping out of thunderbird in lower orbit with jump packs is against the teachings of Codex Astartes to which Captain Titus just says “Just try to keep up” before jumping out and trolololing the Russian guys song on his way down. Ok, let me summarize that – an Ultramarines Captain just told his fellow SPACE MARINE to fuck off with the teachings of Codex Astartes, the Codex written by their Primarch Roboute Guilliman and which is being followed blindly by Ultramarines, defying it earns you one way ticket to hell. Did Developers even realize what they we’re writing? Suppose not, since throughout the game, they take a srs amount of lulz making fun of the Codex and generally don’t care about it. When Titus finally lands on top of orc airship, he dons his Knife and Boltgun combo and…wait, wait, wait! KNIFE? BOLTGUN!?! What kind of a pussy whipped Captain is Titus to still have Knife and a damn Boltgun!? Where’s my energy sword and plasma gun, for fucks sake!?! Oh, I have to find them first? Well, fuck you game! I have better things to do with my time and…wait a second, he just dropped his Jump Pack!?! Why would you casually drop such expensive technology down on the ground Titus? And now it disappeared too, swallowed up by the floor underneath! If a Techmarine was around, he would casually put a bullet in your head, you twat. Jesus Christ, first level hasn’t started yet and I’m already chewing on my controller – God of War 2, you can come back, everything is forgiven. Ok, this was (almost) word by word summary of my thoughts as I watched this. But enough of that, on we go with the review!
Story
As the opening sequence suggest, it hardly gets any better and, thankfully, it doesn’t get worse either, but only cause the game already hit the floor with the trolololing Captain Titus. The story is as dull as you can expect from a game that evolves around SPACE MARINE kind of guys (see Gears and God of War 2). You run back and forth, killing orcs, have a nice little twist you could see looming behind horizon since you casually discarded your first Jump Pack. Really, there is not a SINGLE REDEEMABLE THING about the story! Only thing it does is to provoke your good taste and knowledge of Warhammer lore. For example, what in the flying fuck is 203rd Cadian Regiment DOING there? Why are there Bolter variants you never heard of before? Why is there a drop pod filled to brim with Jump Packs ever three or four levels? Why is there even a game!?!
Enemies and AI
For great part of the game, you’re fighting orcs in all sizes and variations. Now and then, there is one big orc you have to SUPER STUN to kill, but that’s about it. From tenth chapter, there are some chaos space marines and bunch of Khorne daemons too, but that’s about it. The boss fights are silly as hell – to beat the orc Waaaaaaagbboss, you just have to dodge when he runs towards you, clearly something new and unique to this game. I haven’t beaten the game yet, but I guess the final fight won’t be any different, if not duller. But, I need to mention waaaagh boyz, which scream waaaagh when they get mad – and believe me, I can do a better waaagh scream then they do, its just pathetic…About AI, there isn’t much to say – melee fighters charge at you, ranged enemies stand still and take pot shots at you…there is no tactic or thought put into it. Speaking of which, your AI comrades – they don’t do fucking anything. They just stay around while you get perforated by enemies, sometimes firing a single shot or engage in melee duel if enemy doesn’t, for some reason, target you (since they target you AND ONLY you!). At least you don’t have to keep them alive ;3
Weapons and Combat
Weapons as weapons are the ones you expect from Warhammer 40k game, with exception of some special weapons made entirely for the game. There are only four melee weapons which comes quite weak, seeing this game is mostly melee focused, but whatever. The game suffers the same problem as Silent Hill 5. There is not much difference between the weapons, and not a single one feels particularly better then others. Well, yeah, you can kill an orc with two shots from Lazercannon opposed to third of a clip from a bolter, but seeing that I entered a game play induced torpor every time I tried to comprehend the usefulness of single weapons, I can only tell you this much – Energy hammer is the only weapon that differs from other melee weapons, seeing its most useful for crowd control (And you need cc for this game, trust me), all handguns suck, bolter is underpowered as hell and really, sniper bolter? I’ll make the remark that Meltagun is quite useful, but seeing it only has ten shots, you’ll learn to avoid it soon enough. That is, if the game feels like it, since I noticed on few occasions that game changes up your arsenal or even the weapon you’re currently holding – great programming there guys! Combat is not difficult, but is a mess in every aspect: you can hardly control Titus when he gets into fight and you’ll have hard time keeping an eye open for hazards that stay concealed due to horrendous camera. Also, the person who thought the only way to heal yourself while doing the execution on stunned enemies, but make you as vulnerable as ever while locked in animation (which frequently bugs out – I spent good portion of game hacking through an orc that stands two feet behind me) and it mostly ends in you dying while you desperately try to get some health, well, that guy deserves to be sucker punched every time you see him on the street. Not that I had any rage outburst due to the combat engine compared with my constant swearing while playing God of War 1 and 2, but it still sucks that you have to play again from the last checkpoint – oh, did I say that there are only checkpoints and no saves aside of that? Good luck if xbwaks dies during saving…
Collectables and Achievements
There is only one kind of collectable – servo skulls. Game blatantly tells you how much there are in any level and tells you also how much levels there are left if you just push the start button. As for achievements, they are unmotivated and dull, as to be expected by a dull game. The reason why this game can only kiss my ass is the fact that 25% of achievements are multiplayer only. Any game that pulls this shit deserves to be broken in half and jabbed in Developers dogs’ rump. Look at Dead Space two – it has a multiplayer, but does it have a single multiplayer achievement? No? See, that’s how its done. Even if the game sucks, it still gets five points by default.
My Thoughts
This was a lengthy text, so ill keep it short and rant about GW and their Ultramarines fixation it some future journal – game sucks, avoid it, isn’t worth neither your time nor your money. The only way to show how much you loathe this game is not to pirate it, its to buy it off some crook that stole the shipment of this darn game – not only that you neglect them any profit, you even give them a nice minus :3
Final score - 2/10
