I Posted Something
Posted 4 years agoIf there's a more irregularly-updated account on here than mine, I'd be surprised.
I still write stories once in awhile. I've got a bunch of half-baked, half-written, half-imagined ideas, but they don't seem to get completed very often. Oh well- it's the thought that counts, right?
Anyway, I posted a new one. Spoilers: there's at least one fat character!

Clack-clack-clack... ding!
Posted 12 years agoIt'd been so long since I'd submitted something here, that I had to remember how to do it. Oops. I figured it out eventually! :P
Anyway, it's a short story. I haven't been motivated to write in a long time, but I recently bought a vintage typewriter, and that made me want to write something. I feel so... hipster. But maybe it means I'll be writing a little bit more again. We'll see!

Writer's Sloth
Posted 13 years agoI've been trying to write a story for about a month. I write in a funny way, wherein I sort of bunnyhop around and write chapters, vignettes, and paragraphs out of chronological order. Sometimes I even think up a great sentence or phrase to use, and then have to find a way to work it into the story somehow. And then I have to tie it all together in a way that things make sense, which usually involves some re-writing.
I know the legnth of story I'm shooting for, and I'm about 40% of the way there. But lately, I just haven't had the drive to write; or, I'll leave Word open for a few hours and do nothing but re-read what I've already written. I don't know that it's writer's block, exactly, because I know what I'd like to do with the character. It's more of an issue of motivation. So I'll call it Writer's Sloth.
Ah well. I think it'll be a good one when it's finished. :D

Yipes! Stripes!
Posted 13 years agoI've spent most of the last 12 hours watching Warner Bros. shorts- not a bad way to spend the day on the sofa, fighting a little cold.
In my hours in front of the TV & computer today, I've come to the decision that Cool Cat is under-appreciated. It's not his fault that he pales in comparison to Bugs, Daffy, and all of those other characters that found their legs in the Golden Age. It's not his fault that he was voiced by Larry Stortch instead of Mel Blanc. It's not his fault that for some reason he was a '50s beatnik in the late '60s and therefore was probably pretty uncool at the time.
If you compare Cool Cat to the other shorts (and some of the hackey TV animation) that were being produced at the time, he's not so bad. He's a pretty cool, pretty laid-back guy. I'd even say that he could face off against the Pink Panther and hold his own in the cool department. Even if he is sort of a Panther ripoff.
So, in honor of Cool Cat, I've made him my avatar. I salute you, you stripey, beret-wearing, mechanical elephant befriender!

Posted 14 years agoI'm a little embarrassed to admit that I freaking love the Kia hamsters. Sometimes I almost wish the commercials were longer. I would by a Soul if a person-sized hammy came with it. Squee!
Submission Storm
Posted 14 years agoI have to admit, I've been pleasantly surprised at the positive response I've recieved from posting things that have been sitting on my hard drive for years. It makes me think I should've shared it ages ago! There's a little bit more in the pipeline that might be worth adding to the gallery, I think- and no doubt there'll be some new things, too!
This is part of a little resoloution that I made to myself not to be so "lurky" in a few of the spots that I frequent online. We'll see how long I stick to that, but it's been rewarding so far.
