Hey, everybody come in here for a second
Posted a year agoYo. Life has thoroughly been life-ing. Especially as of late. I have been dropping some messages and sending out a few DMs letting everyone know that I'm not on FA as much any more~. Thanks if you have responded!
However, with the sudden passing of Dragoneer, this changes things. Everyone has different perspectives of the guy. All of them are true. Life is messy. People make a lot of (choices) that can really change the trajectory of other people's lives-- for the better, and most unfortunately, for the worst. When its all said and done, though, whats left is what you've left behind. I hope everyone can find some peace and satisfaction.
In the meantime, FA is probably one of the few independently owned websites. Dragoneer bought it back from IMVU a few years ago. I will always be for indepedent media. Always. Us down here in the community will always know whats best for us. We're always gonna be the most innovative, the most compassionate, and have the most opportunities to see and embrace our community, period. A lot of the friends that I have and cherish now are because of this silly site with furry butts on it.
So, this is another post. I'll send some DMs again in the next few days. Please respond with, like, the places you'll be now.
I'm primarily on discord these days:

And heres my facebook page:

Take care of yourselves everybody.

Reminder: Leave your Artists Messages~
Posted 4 years agoJust a little update-
I had the worst day today... Its been two weeks since I had to rush home and take care of my mom for a bit. She's doing fine, things are just difficult.
Today wasn't as productive as I would have liked. Very overwhelming. I finally sat up maybe a few hours ago to talk to a friend. It was really helpful. When I signed on, I had such a nice message on my FA from one of my followers. It really hit on a day like today~.
Message your artists and leave them good tidings often. It can really improve a bad day. <3

COVID-19 Struggles- A vent.
Posted 5 years agoMentally, I'm not in a really good place right now. I couldn't talk to my therapist last week and it's getting really hard for me. It's hard living with my mother and she's constantly on my case for 'not doing enough' or 'being selfish'.
I normally live alone. I can focus on taking care of myself and building my business. Since I've been here, I've also been trying to take care of my mom and some of the things around the house and it's really taking it's toll on me.
My niece is here now too visiting and she's really too young to take care of herself. Plus she's a petchulant child, as 15 year olds tend to be.
Everyones complaining about my cooking.
Everyones complaining about me not doing enough chores.
Everyones complaining about how I take care of the dog.
My room doesn't have a door, so I can't even talk to my therapist at all. My mom overheard my last session and was calling me selfish among other things.
Eventually I got frustrated and said "I want to go home" to which she responds, "no one is asking you to stay."
But honestly if I leave right now no one would be here to help my mom out. The floors are falling in upstairs and I have to pack everything and get ready for it to be repaired. My mom had some legal things that still need to be handled that no one else is doing for her.
I want to cry but I'm just too tired. I have to take care of myself because, if I go down, there won't be any one to take care of me whatsoever. I just feel like I can't derive joy from any thing these days, and my depression is kicking back in. I was supposed to take medication from my doctor, but I didn't get started yet. I don't think medication would even help in this instance. I Just need to be by myself for awhile...

Thanks for the Memories! --How /you/ can get involved
Posted 5 years agoI just wrapped up the 2020 Iron Artist Challenge. It went great! I just wanted to talk about some take aways from the challenge and future stuff.
I did 12 pieces in two weeks. Even more importantly, I enjoyed the art I was doing! The challenge had just the right amount of challenge too, so much so, I will be changing how I do things:
-I will be staggering my commission schedule. I'll be available every other week for commissions, writings, character development stuff, dramatic readings, you name it.
-I will be asking for shout-reviews on
fireside.cooperative for my services. If I worked with you in the past, sometime in the next few days, I'll be sending you over to Fireside to talk about our experiences together and what you like about your art! I'm expecting a rad review on sexy chest hairs in a bit. >u>...
I'll be taking orders for headshots and flats on my Journals and Notes. Leave me a comment here if you are interested~~
If you worked with me in the past- leave a review for me on

New Years Resolutions- Year of Original Characters
Posted 5 years agoThis is kind of late, but, when I wanted to post this FA was imploding. I'll put it here now~.
While I was making my 2019 best works gallery, I noticed that I hadn't drawn my own characters at all. And if I had, it was a warm up for a stream only. It's deplorable. So I made the resolution this year to make time to design and draw my own characters.
I have been roleplaying and designing characters for a very long time, I have a lot of content. I feel like it's important to do that for myself. I was much happier when I was drawing and designing my own character things v3v I have a very colorful internal life-
So on to the list! I'll post the link/art of the resulting work here. c:
PD's list of Original Characters
-Senegien Saturna (Moth)(SFW done, NSFW pending)
-Pandora Pendragon (Munskin wild cat) (SFW pending)
-Faiqa Fenralis (Albino deer)
-Calhoun Mageuy (Jackalope)(Streaming cover)
-Acadia Mageuy (Spnyx cat chimera) (Sketch... in FA somewhere right now.)
-Mattieu Laverdiere (Sasquatch)
-Gosheven (Dire Elf)
-Absalom the Spawn of Cthulu (Humanoid)
-Alberan (Armadillo)
-Belle (Porcupine) (Her whole gallery is here)
-Schoed Seirra (albino cayman)
-Gwendolyn (Human, I swear-)
And maybe I'll add more later~
These names don't mean much right now, but I hope to flesh em out soon >u<

2019 in Review- Year of Death
Posted 6 years agoHey--
I'm not gonna lie, this year was rough. I lost a lot of people in my family. I also lost quite a few friends. I've also faced a lot of disappointments
However, you cannot grow as a person without going through some loss. This year had some positives too. The Fireside Cooperative is up and moving along, I'm really learning how to collaborate with other people!
My day-time business is coming along too. I have a lot of (better paying) clients since the summer. I might also have an anchor client soon that I'll be doing more traveling, which is exciting.
2020, we are moving forward~. And I'm definitely going to focus on the beauty of growth.
Happy New Years! I'll be creating a best of gallery in a bit. =u=/
Did you guys have any resolutions?

And Update: PD is on their Hustle Bustle
Posted 6 years agoThis summer is goooonnne~.
Right now, I am firmly on a self employment path. I have my own firm for day job stuff and I do commissions for night time stuff. However, my daytime stuff as been bleeding into my night time stuff. TAT
I have commissioners who have been waiting and I hate making my commissioners wait.
At present, I can't make any promises without having an anxiety spell. However, I will say that I have been feeling better and making a little more time to be creative and draw. When I have that space then it's easier to commission.
If you want to see me when I stream, I highly suggest following me on picarto. I have been doing more podcast style streams lately, talking and doing art. =u=//

Would you be interested in an Artist Cooperative?
Posted 6 years agoSo my recent depression spell has really gotten me thinking:
It would be so much easier if I was part of a group of artists supporting each other. I've also had ideas to do a couple cooperatives for my day job.
First, a definition:
I want to get some trusted and cool people together and we do a small cooperative. I got the idea while considering starting a subscription service for myself. However, I really didn't see the value in just doing one for myself. Especially because I would want any sort of subscription service that I do to be of high value to its subscribers, with a lot of great content. That is easier achieved with several artists then just me chaining myself to my desk. I'm also pretty business savvy, making my own business, so I feel like this skill would be valuable to artists wanting to grow their business.
I'd like to talk to some artists to get to know what things they would want from a cooperative. Here are some things I can think of right away--
--Sharing premium services for Ko-Fi, Picarto, Youtube and others: Ko-fi and Picarto have subscription services to help you recoup the cost for paying for their service. They also advertise and promote premium accounts more. Being part of a cooperative gets us access to these services and we share the burden of paying them among ourselves.
--Sharing a pool of trusted commissioners: There are a lot of risks people don't talk about when commissioning. One of them is the amount of time it takes to gain a relationship with people TO commission. Another is unscrupulous people who dispute their payments to artist to rob them of their money after the art is complete. Its devastating and Paypal favors the commissioner over the artist. Sharing a pool of people who already support you with their dollars gets around that.
--Access to paying subscribers with less content burden: Being a content creator is extremely demanding. Having a team of people to help you makes it easier. Its a lot more fun.
--Ownership and Comradery: Unlike other subscription services, you don't gain ownership of things. In a cooperative, ownership is divided among the workers. The dollars we put in, we are investing in ourselves, fellow cooperatives. We get a say in how the funds are spent, and the cooperative will even help with money making activities like going to cons. We can still continue to work independently on our art without having to answer to any one. All is required is to subscribe to pay our part into the cooperative and make content.
--Opportunity to get better and guidance: Members of the cooperative can help each other and give each other constructive criticism, something that doesn't always happen on FA. I personally can offer guidance on freelancing, since I've been doing that for about 5 or 6 years now. I also help small businesses as my day job, so I'd be happy to help.
It's been my dream to have a farming commune/cooperative for a very long time~. I've been talking about it with my friends for years. I'm excited about this because this is a step in that direction.
Comment with your thoughts below.

A cooperative is an organization thats owned by it's workers. You see this for service industries that specifically serve a community, such as nursing and grocery stores.

Health Update-- PD has to make up for a Depression Spell
Posted 6 years agoHey everyone!
As you may or may not know, I spent all of June taking care of my grandmother until she passed.
I then had to take another 2 weeks to try to recover, but since I work for myself, this exhausted my savings.
I need to make $500 a week for the next few weeks to make even while I expand my business (both my day job and my art).
I have my ko-fi campaign set up already! If can spare a few dollars, I would really appreciate a contribution--
https://ko-fi.com/percyd
I also need to get more commissions, so I am also giving referral rewards to people who suggest me to others! If you have a few friends who need reference sheets and character designs, I'll slip you a few dollars if you refer them to me. ^.~
Message me if you want to learn more.

Health Update--
Posted 6 years agoHello everyone~. Just a quick update.
In the last week I was fighting some bad crud. I got a chance to walking to my doctors last week, got my antibotics for a bad chest cold, and I finished them a few days ago. I'm feeling better but... here comes the depressive episode-
What I am thankful for, my job is such I can work when I'm well. But the symptoms are rough-
Body pain, lack of motivation, my attention span had taken a GREAT hit.
The other great thing is that I am totally aware of what I'm going through and I can attempt to reason my way out of it.
Its still challenging, today I didn't get nearly the amount of things done I needed to. I also need to get a 'solid anchor client' for my day job so I can have some security. I have one, and its going well, but its just not enough money to make rent. *huff*
My commissioners have been ultra patient though~. I do really want to get these done so I can open up my slots again.
Until next time~~
In the last week I was fighting some bad crud.

Is it 2009? --PD Writes a Diary
Posted 6 years agoMood: Overwhelmed TAT
It's been a few days since I've gotten back home and I'm desperately sick, lol.
Just... weird weather, being around people, and general stress.
I'm getting ready to go on vacation in July, because I desperately need a break. I can't wait to go either, I'm visiting friends. c:
However, its a bit stressful because I don't really have the money for it...? Not after going home twice. TAT;;;
I'm thankful I didn't have to pay for the flight. However, it's a lot of money I had to spend on food and gas. I spent a lot of clothes, but at least I'm prepared for the rain and chill- it hasn't really been very warm this summer. Not that I'm complaining~.
If I can make a cool 1500 in the next three weeks, I would feel a lot better. I've got to cover rent, supplies, debt. *Phew*
How I'm going to do it, I'm not sure... I have me current day time gig developing a dictionary for an investor. I'm thankful for that.
I need to build a database and get some proposal writing gigs together. I also need to schedule some meetings with people in the community, working on a community writing lab and - *Sweats*
For my art stuff (the things you are interested in)--
All of my slots are full! I'm very thankful for that. It's helped with paying my phone bill for certain. I will be working on those throughout the week. I've met/about to meet a lot of my goals I set for this month because of my commissioners suggesting me to people. TuT
Very good commissioners~
I'll try to take it slow, even though I feel pressed for time. I'll get better, eventually... I just kinda feel like a mess~~.

Community Care & Self Care- Thanks everyone for your support
Posted 6 years agoEvery once and again, I like to diary. Out of all of my channels, even my personal ones, I feel like this is the safest place to talk about these sorts of things (for better or for worst).
I have had a lot of great support from my little circle of friends here, though.
As you may or may not know, I had a death in the family. It was my grandma and we were very close. I was her favorite grandchild and I got to spend 2 weeks caring for her before she passed. People have been saying she was sick, but... My aunt was neglecting her.
My mother was doing all she could to care for her mother. Preface though: my mom is 70 years old going on 45.
My mother does well for herself, but that 70 part. She could only do so much and she wasn't getting any support from the family. It was a very frustrating time.
If we had it our way, though, we would never have to say goodbye to our loved ones. However, my grandmother was severely neglected and I'm glad she doesn't have to suffer any more.
So on to the topic, "self-care and community care." When my father passed four years ago, one of the lessons I learned was to take better care of myself. I'm very proud of my mother. One of the reasons why I started going to a therapist is because of her. Unfortunately, my mother hasn't been able to keep up this regimen since our family is from the South and social services are SEVERELY lacking. We both started taking rest days, setting out time to exercise outdoors, and really doing the hard work that self-care requires.
However, the lesson I learned from this juncture is about the importance of community care. We as people, we need people. We need someone to ask us "mom questions." -Have you eaten? How is your sleeping? How is your life going?
Community care is a little harder because we all need people to reciprocate with us...
Sure, I can ask the mom questions. However, I need people to ask about me.
I have plenty of friends who call, text, and get me out of the house. I also have church family that ask me mom questions.
My mother though, she felt so isolated- especially after becoming a widow. However, our family church really stepped up. Even our old church sent someone a city over to represent.
Another thing I've learned is that people aren't perfect. Thats appart of community care and self care too. Its not always going to be complete. People are not always going to reciprocate. Things are going to be pushed aside, people are going to fall through the cracks. These imperfections are just what make up life and our experiences. Thats why being gracious and giving people a chance takes a lot of strength.
With that, I'll close with this: one aspect that self-care and community care share is monitoring the narratives we have about our life experiences. Chronic loneliness and isolation have a direct correlation with the stories we tell ourselves to justify our lonliness. It can take the form of seeing yourself as undesirable or undeserving. It can also take the form of perceiving the people around you as hostile or threatening. This makes it more difficult for community care to happen.
Part of self care is assessing these narratives. Some of them may be true. For myself, I have to be honest with myself and really assess my thoughts. Sometimes we have to admit that the stories we tell ourselves aren't based in any thing but our loneliness, our bitterness, our disappointment, our dissatisfaction. Those things are okay, so long as we are honest with them and that we know what they are. Thats the only way to addresss them and start on the path of wellness.
I'm really grateful to my friends, and to you if you got this far cx
Feel free to tell me how your life is going. Consider this my good mom/ good dad check-in.

Update: Death in the family...
Posted 6 years agoA quick update- my grandmother passed last Thursday and I'm pushing things around that. Though, if I'm honest, while I want to stop I don't feel like I can. I still need to make rent for next month and money for bills.
The commissions are really helping me out.
I don't want to close my commissions for now, since making art helps and I like to feel productive. v3v Things will just be slow as I take care of myself and take care of my mom.
No time is ever a good time for these sorts of things~. I loved my grandma and if any one loved me, it was her.
