On set, Tuesday night's re-shoot
Posted 11 years agoI didn't start off having all that much fun during Tuesday night's movie filming. It was quite a bit different than the shoot I did on the 11th. Then, although they didn't do anything with us drivers or our cars until the last half hour or so of the session, it was still fun hanging out with the other drivers and having our own little cruise-in, and being so close to Ewan McGregor that we could have been part of the conversation he was having with the crew about his daughter was an added plus. In addition, it was easy to feel part of the cast when we were allowed to mingle with them; the cop that was assigned to secure the set was laid back and didn't really mind outsiders as long as they weren't getting in the way.
This time, however, I didn't have any of that. The lady coordinating with the drivers told me on the 11th that I would be needed for Tuesday's re-shoot to keep continuity. Well, come Tuesday damned if I was one of only two people who came back for the re-shoot; the three other cars were newcomers, with their drivers nowhere to be seen. So, I pretty much had nobody to really hang out with and commiserate with, and the late-night dinner with cast and crew felt just as isolated (although I did have a nice convo with the movie's second director). If not for my Michi joining me for the evening (and being able to stay for the whole evening), it would have been a very long and lonely time. Even worse, the cop assigned to secure the set was a real Nazi about keeping people back - and even extended that exclusion to me, a driver!
However, things changed quickly after dinner break. The cop left or was somewhere out of sight so a freer, more inclusive air settled in. Then, one of the directors asked for Betty specifically ("I need the green car, the LeSabre...") to go into position for the next sequence, followed by her BFF Betsy to spot behind her (tho, unfortunately, her owner, my friend Chris, wasn't there)! Betty and her pal were FINALLY sharing a scene at last. This one was an exciting one - it involved gunshots and the start of a high-speed car chase as Don Cheadle and McGregor's characters take off in their Jag followed by some guy tearing off out of the parking lot after them in a Caddie! From the setup and our angle, it was a little disconcerting to us as somewhere in the back of our minds we worried about Betty being sideswiped, but everything was well under control. Together with a near brush with a crazy stoner during the chase filming and me being completely oblivious to a between-takes convo McGregor was having with someone DIRECTLY beside me, it was quite a night! And, everything was wrapped up and we were released by 3 am. :)

Made it into USA Today!
Posted 11 years agoLooks like this movie project Betty and I are in made it into last week's USA Today! Picture #6 is my fave: up close and personal! ;)
http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/.....nati/12382329/
Had some more all-night filming on Friday into Saturday, tho they didn't do anything with the autos until the last ten or fifteen minutes of the work session...about 5 am! So I and the other drivers had little to do since 6 pm the previous evening. Which struck me as a waste of time and made me reconsider doing any overnight work moving forward. Until, that is, I was tagged to take Betty through this one scene they were working on. Then it made it worthwhile.
Interesting thing, that shoot. They staged the cars (which only included four others) for additional filming, but they didn't get to it. So, to keep continuity, I have to come back for ANOTHER all-night session on the 25th. I'm hoping, however, that this time will be a lot more exciting, as a car chase scene is started from here. If nothing else, I should take some pride in the knowledge that Betty was among those five hand-picked luxury cars to help recreate 1979 Greenwich Village, NY (which included a '66 Triumph, '67 Mercedes, late-70s BMW, and a '71 Pontiac).
Not that my weekend was complete just yet, mind you. Am I REALLY that bat-shit crazy to put in a full day at work, then immediately head out for filming going all...night...long...and then soon after set out to spend the day in a wool uniform in the summer heat at a local CW re-enactment? Apparently, the answer is yes, yes I am...

BAM! :D
Posted 11 years agoIt was by complete accident that I happened to catch this segment on the local news after I got home from work. Yay, I got caught in the shot - TWICE! First time at :36; look fast, you'll see Betty advancing JUST behind the crew member's head as he moves it out of the shot. Second time at :46; she's immediately in the foreground. From Monday's filming, apparently. :)

Man, what a day yesterday!
Posted 11 years agoOnly about eight classics turned out for the movie shoot, including a late-'60s/early-'70s Crown bus and '73 LTD done up as a NYC taxi. Mechanical problems with the bus and taxi, and some of the others were starting to run too hot from all the idling and going back and forth through the shot. No such problems with Betty and I. We had just enough camera time to make it fun, and not too much to cause overheating or carbon buildup. Some cars were used more than others, which was just fine with me; better their gas and wear and tear than mine. Also graduated to being an extra walking through in the background, which was kinda cool. At one point I and another driver were standing less than ten feet from Don Cheadle and Ewan McGregor like it was nothin'. Food was catered and kicked ass (Cheadle even had a tray full and ate with the crew)! Shortly before wrapping up the scene when I went back to check on Betty, I happened on McGregor who was chatting for a moment with the owner of a '68 Beetle that was parked in front of me. Turns out McGregor is a Beetle fan, too, and has a '54 ragtop. Seemed like a nice enough fellah.
If we make it into the movie, we'll be highly visible. And best of all, I was able to get everything in and Betty home before the rain came. :)

I'm gonna be a STAR!
Posted 11 years agoOr, rather Betty might. Maybe.
A movie production company hit town looking for classic autos ('65-'75) and extras for an upcoming Don Cheadle movie bio about jazz legend Miles Davis. When I first heard about it on the local morning news, just on a total lark and for the complete hell of it I responded, using the "Bunneh and Buick" pic you see here (simply because it was right at hand on my comp's hard drive).
Imagine my utter surprise when I got to work and later that morning saw an email from one of the casting people saying she loved Betty and wanted to use her in the movie!! Not only that, but said person wanted to know if I also wanted to drive her in it, too, and asked for clothing info for wardrobe! And, I get $164 a day for it all!
BAM!! :D
I quickly let my car show pals know about it and my one friend who has a '72 Olds 98 applied and got accepted, too. I have some vacay time coming to me this month; I figure why not take a break from working on the house and do something fun? Final details are being worked out as I type this.
Not sure what's gonna happen - or even if something happens and I can't do this - but if everything actually goes down, and even if I'm relegated to the BG or a quick drive-by, should be a blast! :)

New Disneh bunneh moveh?
Posted 11 years agoLooks like I'll be around here more often, then.
Posted 11 years agoQuite a few changes have been in the offing for this bunneh, one of which will be me hanging out around FA more often. Why now? Mainly because of work. My company moved our warehouse further into the industrial complex where it's located, and whereas before I had wifi I could mooch off of, I don't in the new location. When I did have wifi, I'd spend my work lunch time catching up mostly on Facebook, as that's where my closest friends and family are. While I can hook onto the company's network anywhere with this POS laptop I'm currently on, the network itself is pretty much locked down. FB is blocked, and I'd rather not incur the wrath of IT by streaming audio/radio (did that a while back; don't make enemies of the people who fix your computer). However, FurAffinity and ComicGenesis is wiiiiiiide open, so looks like FA will be my new workday lunch hangout. ;)
Home-wise, I'm still busy as I have been, and mostly away from my drawing table. Michi and I are currently getting our house ready for sale, so unfortunately, I can't begin to tell you when I'll have new stuff coming out. Getting ready for moving is our priority now. Sucks, but such is the price of being a grown-up. If I can get new cartoons or pics out, believe me - I will. But I'm not gonna stress about any artwork I can't do currently.
Well, that's what's been going on in a nutshell. Just got three skids of copier parts in that need receiving, so I gotta run. I'll be getting back to people directly, finally. But rest assured, the bunny's back. :)

Hoppy Holidays!
Posted 12 years agoJust wanted to wish all you guys a belated Meowy Christmas and an early Hoppy New Year! However you spent the holiday or wherever you found yourself spending it, I hope you found the day exactly the way you wanted. I hope you find more of the same for NYE. :)
Don't get much of a chance to get to these parts anymore, it seems. Generally if I have such time I'm usually on Facebook (as that's where my close friends are). So, needless to say, I generally have a mind-blowing amount of journal entries and artwork waiting for me. You'll have to forgive me if I miss something.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of eps of my pal
ellen-natalie Furry Experience to get caught up on. Hoppy NYE! :)

Hoppy Halloween, everyone!
Posted 12 years agoOkay, so I don't have anything artwise yet, but here's my Halloween moment of the day:
Yesterday morning I helped UPS when they made their daily drop-off. The driver and I were in the back of his truck unloading in our usual way when suddenly, out of nowhere and with neither of us anywhere near it, the heavy bulkhead door that separates the driver's compartment from the cargo compartment started to slowly slide from partially open to fully open!! O.O
Both of us looked at each other with the appropriate "WTF...just...happened...?!?" look. Being a rabbit of science, I figure there has to be a logical, reason-based cause for the door to open like that, but I'll be damned if I know what it is! Although the driver parked his truck ass-end towards my dock door and on a slight grade that that part of the parking lot is on, it's not a steep grade at all nor did he park sideways that would have allowed the door to slide to one side on its own. It's never happened before; it was almost like the truck wanted someone up front for some reason...
And to put a capper on things, I watched some scenes from the Steven King movie "Christine" on Youtube before coming in to work. Here's a few as a Halloween treat (NSFW, obviously):

So, what's been going on?
Posted 12 years agoWith Michi and I, quite a bit, actually.
Still been more offline than on, mostly busy at work and working on getting us set up with Obamacare and making our place more affordable.
Well, to the latter point we were able to find a little luck with our finances and are now in the process of leaving for Canada on Wednesday for a kind of wedding anniversary-slash-weekend getaway kind of vacay - our first real one in almost three years! Come Friday, October 25, Michi and I will be celebrating our Ten-Year Anniversary, and man - it amazes both of us how long it's been! It's pretty kick-ass that we'll be able to celebrate it in my Silly Girl's hometown of Toronto, and we can't wait (especially Michi, who's starting to bounce off the walls at the thought of it). :)
Art-wise, I am determined to get SOMEthing out by month's-end, either the zombie bunneh pic I was going to release last year, or another ep of Critters. Or, both! We'll see. Our attention might be to packing right now, but when I get back I'll be sure as hell wanting to turn it to drawing, so, stay tooned... :)

Posted 12 years agoTo my drawing desk, that is!
Betty's mechanical restoration has been taking up the bulk of my attention of late, not the least of which are electrical gremlins that manifested themselves after I got her back. Then, of course, I work in Dante's Inferno and usually come home from work too tired (emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally) and generally uninspired to draw, and some other RL distractions going down this month as well.
However, a new alternator and voltage reguator later, electrical gremlins seem to be gone now, and with Betty back to tip-top shape I can turn my attention to other things - one of which is my ongoing cartoony work (most of which is currently fleshed out in thumbnail format). I gots a week's vacay coming up in two days, and new Critters artwork is on my list of stuff to do (along with improving my job forecast), so...
Thanks for your continued patience, those who still follow me. Your wait really is coming to an end. Honest!

What's up?
Posted 12 years agoMan, I can't believe it's been so long since I did any kind of updates! Just been busy, is all, working in our basement and figuring out finances for our house. Oh, the joys of being a grown-up, I guess...
I posted some pics of the other big thing taking up my time, namely, Betty's mechanical restoration. Otherwise, I need to get back to my drawing desk! It calls to meeeeeee.... I'll get a sketch together for the next ep of Critters and post it directly. Then, I suppose it's drawing time again.
See ya around!

You know what I don't get?
Posted 12 years agoTaurs... No, not guitars. I'm talking animal taurs. You know - centaurs, cattaurs, bunnytaurs... Anything half horse and half whatever. I mean, physiologically-speaking, how are they possible? Unlike traditional anthros, that one could argue are simply animals that evolved like primates and took a different evolutionary path parallel to humans, how do taurs work? Take away their flesh and what kind of skeleton do you have? Some weird-ass contruction that looks like a science experiment gone wrong - one skeleton for that for a horse, connecting to that of the lower body of another animal...with two sets of ribs, two shoulder assemblies, and a spinal column longer than US Route 66. Where are a taur's internal organs? Are they in the upper part, held by the human/animal skeleton, or in the lower part held by the horse skeleton? Maybe they have two sets of organs? Again, how does that work?!?
Artistically speaking, I guess it works. But when you start getting into the anatomy and biology of the thing, taurs make no sense to me.

Hoppy Easter!
Posted 12 years agoHope that everyone is having a fun and enjoyable holiday! Unfortunately, however, between church stuff and family stuff this is one bunny who won't be able to deliver the goods on time. Had this been a normal weekend and not Easter weekend, I would have finished one tier on Sat., the other today, and then upload. But, as it is, I just didn't have enough time.
Sorry about that, guys. Will get this thing done and released as soon as I can.
