Aug. Update
Posted 5 years agoWell it feels a little weird to make a monthly journal when we're only half-way through the month but someone played a prank on me and changed every available calendar to say it was August 1st today so I guess I'll just roll with it.
Unfortunately, I've been dragging a bit on commission progress. I've been making excuses but I really need to improve my work ethic. It can be hard for me to stay focused on one thing, always has been. Hasn't helped that I've taken on a bit more than I probably ought to have. It's times like these I'm glad I don't charge in advance. If you're still waiting in queue, thanks for your patience. I'm gonna see what I can do to keep myself more on-task for the rest of this comm season so I don't have to make you wait another month.
This also means that I probably won't be opening slots again at the start of September. Depending on how fast I get through my remaining queue it might be mid-late September or the start of October. I desperately need some time to work on personal projects and to work on my art-style, So I really just need a solid couple of weeks without any queue on my shoulders.
It's been a month since I opened the Discord server (Anyone is welcome to join!) and I've got a nice little community together. If you're at all interested in having an influence over what I draw, seeing WiPs and sketches, or knowing when I'm going to open commissions again you should join. You don't need to be super active or anything. I also have plans for a super secret project that I'll probably be doing via the server.
Anyways I still have plenty of work to do so I won't drag this one out. Take care!

Jul. Update (Discord Server)
Posted 5 years agoI've gone ahead and created a Discord server! I'll be posting WiPs and sketches there, and I'll be using it for polls to help decide what I should draw. I'm also hoping to make it a nice place for artists to get together, show WiPs, get input, share resources and all that.
Everyone's welcome to join (as long as you're an adult of course). You can join with the link below (please throw me a note if the invite link is dead)
https://discord.gg/SNHxtn5
I hope to see lots of you there!
In other news, this month I'll be working on a batch of commissions. Sorry I wasn't even able to open them properly, already had so many people lined up. The good news is I'm going to be trying to take commissions relatively more often for the rest of the year. Current plan is to take commissions at the start of every other month, though I may do more depending on how things go and how busy I get. If you're really hungry for a slot, you can join my Discord to keep up to date on my plans. I'm also considering down-prioritizing repeat customers for future commission openings, just so more people can get a chance at a slot rather than the same few people each time.
Anyways, I'll be uploading a Wednesday special shortly, and you can expect plenty of content from me this month while I get through these commissions. Take care!

Jun. Update (Furry Art Platforms)
Posted 5 years agoHey people. I feel bad that I haven't posted any art recently. I've been having a lot of trouble focusing on stuff and not abandoning pics halfway through and I really need to do better. I have a pic I've been inching along on and hopefully it comes to fruition. There's a lot of stuff I really want to draw, just getting myself to see it through has been a bit of a challenge recently.
One thing I've been thinking about is platforms for ero furry art, or rather, the frustrating lack of them. Ever since Tumblr banned NSFW, FA has basically become my base of operations with my InkBunny for redundancy more than anything (I love you IB watchers too!). I don't think I really need to tell any of you about FA's shortcomings; Lack of features, shitty search system, clunky uploader, and a front page constantly flooded with endless YCH reminders, non-artwork, and straight-up e-begging (also they made it display LESS images recently too???).
Now, because of the dearth of platforms Twitter has become the de-facto furry nsfw art platform. It's become increasingly common for artists to upload exclusively to their Twitter. Now Twitter is great for discoverability because of retweets and the sheer amount of users on it, but for everything else? I could go on a bit about everything I hate about the user experience, the culture, the management of that site, but instead I'll just focus on the relevant topic: Twitter isn't designed as an art gallery. It auto-compresses images, gives no way to distinguish between artwork uploads and everything else, and lacks a satisfactory search system for finding specific content. This ultimately means that an artists older work isn't easily accessible. Many artists just use the same account for everything which makes things even worse since now to even view their art you have to sift through memes, animal crossing screenshots, and political hot-takes. The most concerning thing of all is the looming threat of a NSFW ban. It happened on Tumblr where adult content was a MUCH bigger part of the site's identity, it can sure as hell happen on Twitter.
Anyways, I feel like this journal is just becoming a self-indulgent rant on Twitter so I'll shut up. At the end of the day, as long as I can draw weird fantasy animals having sex and get someone to see it, I'm pretty much happy. It's nice to see numbers go up of course, passed 800 watchers just recently! If I really wanted more attention I'd have a Twitter already but I'm just a bit too stubborn for that I'm afraid. Last thing I'll say is that if you know of any other sites that are geared towards the kind of things I draw I'd love to have a better idea what my options are. As it stands though, I don't intend to stop uploading to FA or IB unless they really fuck something up.

May Update
Posted 5 years agoI hope you're all doing well, Spring's going by fast. I hope you're all enjoying the art I've been putting out recently, sparse as it may be.
I've been a bit distracted by other things. I've had a picture inked for a while but I've been a bit distracted as of late. I'll color it soon!
I'd like your opinions on what sort of content you want to see from me. I'm also considering doing more sketches rather than fully inking and coloring every single thing, just to improve the quantity of my output a bit.
I'm also definitely going to stream again sometime soon. It felt like that helped me stay focused on drawing rather than being sidetracked with all sorts of other junk. Keep an eye on your journals for stream announcements!
Anyways, my mind's a bit spacey and I don't have much else to say, so I'll end it here. Expect more art soon.

Apr. Update
Posted 5 years agoAnother month's gone by. Hope you're all hanging in there, it's been a rough time for everyone.
Apologies for the lack of uploads recently. I recently underwent a pretty life-changing surgery so I've been taking it pretty easy. Besides, I just built my new PC and you know I gotta be a lazy piece of shit and play some video games on this thing. The new machine is running great, though I think it's about time I try drawing with this thing.
Hopefully I'll have something to post within the next few days. For the next couple months I'm going to be focusing on personal art and self-improvement. I've got a long list of things I want to draw, lot's of skills I need to get better at, and lots of potential for improving my workflow and experimenting with my style now that I have a beefier machine.
In last month's journal I got your opinions on that resolution I should upload at. The majority seems to agree that what I upload at currently is fine, so I'll keep doing that. In the future I may look into finding a way to provide source resolution versions of my art. Maybe if I ever draw consistently enough to open a patreon, that could be an incentive?
As far as commissions go, my plan is still to wait until Summer to open them up again. I doubt many people are trying to spend all their money on furry art currently anyways. If you can afford it, though, I suggest supporting an artist who actually depends on it for their income. I also suggest supporting any local small businesses you can.
I look forwards to drawing more smut for you weirdos, stay healthy, stay isolated, wash your hands/paws/talons/tentacles, etc. etc.

Mar. Update (comm progress, strawpoll)
Posted 5 years agoHey, peeps. February really flew by fast.
I'm nearly done with commissions! I lost my momentum on the second half of them, but I hung in there. I should be putting up the last two comms tonight.
The last part for my new PC is due tomorrow. Thanks you to everyone that's commissioned me or donated to me, this will be a huge upgrade over my current machine. I already have some ideas on how to improve my workflow with the extra power.
Related to that, I'd really like your opinions on what resolution I should be uploading my art at. Obviously, the higher quality the better, but I also know some people's internet/device can struggle with images that are too big, and it also makes pics hard to share when they're too big. Let me know how you feel in the comments and with this strawpoll: https://strawpoll.com/g225gf9z
For the next few months I'm going to focus on personal work and self improvement. I'm hoping to take on some more commissions during the Summer. I have a whole list of stuff I want to draw, and I really want to experiment! I'll try and keep a steady flow of content coming for you guys.
Lastly, thank you all for 700 Watchers! Not too far away from 1000 now, that's crazy. I really appreciate you all.

Feb. update (Commission progress, resolutions)
Posted 6 years agoI figured I'd start doing a monthly journal here to keep you guys informed on stuff. Typically I'd just dump this sort of stuff in the description of whatever pic I happened to be uploading, but maybe more people will read it if I do it like this. I won't pretend you all want to hear all the juicy details about my personal life and shit, so I'll keep these short and relevant.
So first off, I'm really amazed by how quickly my commissions filled up this time! Thanks to all of you. Sorry if I had to turn your commission down, but alas, I am but one bird. I can't say for sure when I'll be open again, unfortunately. Spring is going to be super busy for me. I might try to squeeze a couple in somewhere though so I can get myself another monitor. Otherwise, I'll probably open sometime in June or July. Sorry I can't do more.
As far as the current commissions go, I'm making good progress. Currently I'm well on my way to finishing number four out of eight. Thanks to recent workflow improvements I've made I've been keeping up a pretty good pace on these. My current goal is to be completely finished by the 15th. Thanks for your patience!
I've started ordering parts for my PC, which is super exciting. I've wanted to build my own PC for a literal decade. I'm doing a Ryzen 5 3600/RX 5700 build, so it should be plenty powerful for my needs. Once I get it all put together I want to experiment with working at a higher resolution, which should make stuff like coloring and shading a little bit easier for me. I've heard it's possible to go really high resolution and use aliased brushes and stuff, then downsample to a more reasonable resolution for publishing. Any artists that know what I'm talking about?
One thing I want opinions on is this: Currently I post my art at source resolution (typically 3.2k) which some people have already noted as being kinda huge. If I start working at higher resolutions like 16k or something it won't really be viable to post source resolution though. My current plan is to downsample to 3.2k to maintain the standard. Does that resolution work fine for people? Is there anyone that wants higher? Lower?

500 Watchers! [Voting Closed]
Posted 6 years agoSo first off, I finally hit that 500 watcher mark! It's been a lot of fun, learning and sharing my art with you guys. I really appreciate you all! I hope you're enjoying the art I've been putting out recently, I have plenty more things I want to draw and a couple commissions and a raffle prize to get through, so expect plenty more art.
Along with that, I wanted to do something neat for this milestone so here's what I'm gonna do. In the comments on this journal you can nominate a picture from my gallery, and I'll redraw whichever picture gets the most votes. Along with my gallery on here there are some pictures on My e621 Tag and on Trashdump that never found there way here (the latter has some really old art from when I was just starting out, beware). I think there was also a few more things on my Tumblr but for obvious reasons I can't link those. One final thing: The picture has to be at least 1 year old from the day this journal is posted to be considered. I'd prefer to do something that would really benefit from being remade.
Finally, this week is finals week for me, so don't expect any art from me until later next week. I think I'll open up commissions again later this summer, probably July or August. It really depends on how busy I am trying to get certifications and work experience. I also may be going in for some pretty serious dental surgery. So Summer's looking to be a bit busy unfortunately but I'm gonna try to keep up this pace as far as art output goes. I have my eyes on that 1k milestone now, baby.
EDIT: It was kind of implicit, but a tie will be settled with some good ol' fashioned RNG. Voting will next Wednesday (Jun 19).
EDIT 2: It ended up as a 6 way tie, with the winner being https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21452930/
It's cool it ended up being something so old, there's a looot of improvement I can do to this one. And I'll never complain about drawing Weavile or Zangoose of course.
It's neat to see so much variety in the picks too. Thanks to everyone that voted.

Raffle Results
Posted 6 years agoAs it's now June it's time to draw the winner for the raffle
The winner is
barontheraichu
I think I'll wait a bit before doing another raffle like this. If anyone has any ideas for the next one I'd love to hear them as admittedly this one didn't go so well.
I'm not complaining, though. I was able to put together enough money to buy the pen display regardless. Next goal is to build a new PC as what I'm working with now has a hard time with higher resolutions and large brushes.
One final thing, there will be a bit of a drop in activity from me in the next couple weeks because of finals, but after that I'll have much more free time and I plan to use it breaking in my new toy-er tool.

[CLOSED] Ko-fi Raffle & Commissions
Posted 6 years agoNo more commissions for now, and the raffle has ended as May is over
So first of all I've created a Ko-fi page to raise money for art equipment (a pen display and a new PC). You can find it at https://ko-fi.com/perfectlynormal
I don't really know how much to expect to make from this, but it doesn't hurt to have it. I really appreciate anything you're willing to give, but I also understand not feeling up to giving your hard earned money to some perv on the internet that very occassionally draws smut that you slightly enjoy. Still, I'm going to try to be more consistent moving forward and put out more stuff for you guys. I feel guilty going months and months without posting anything.
I'm also offering a bit of an incentive to donating. Every $3 donation will get you an entry into a raffle. The raffle winner gets to pick two characters for me to draw (either one duo pic or two solo pics), SFW or NSFW. I'm excluding OCs from this (I'm willing to flex a bit on OCs heavily based on existing characters such as Pokemon OCs). I may pick multiple winners depending on how many entries I get. So if there's a character that you really want me to draw it might be worth pitching in a few bucks.
If you want to be entered into the raffle, please be sure to give some sort of valid contact information (either FA/IB username, Discord ID, or Email) so that I can contact you if you win. I'll be choosing a winner at the end of the month.
On the subject of monetization, I just want to make one thing very clear. My core content will always be free. 'Core content' meaning the most complete, high resolution, uncensored version of my artwork. I want my art to be enjoyed by as many people as possible, and paywalling it is counterproductive to that. Any incentives I might offer behind a paywall would be supplementary, such as WiPs, timelapse videos, or raffles.
Finally, I'm offering a few commission slots. If you're interested in commissioning me you can PM me here, on Inkbunny, on Discord (perfectlynormal#8009), or email me (perfectlynormalartist at gmail.com). You can find prices on my Commission Info page.
UPDATE
FA now has it's own built in donation platform. I'll also be taking raffle entries from that of course. To account for the different donation increments between Ko-fi and FA (3 vs 5) entries will now be on a per dollar basis. That means a $5 shiny object will give you 166% the odds that a $3 Ko-fi donation would give. Hopefully that's reasonable.

Commissions are OPEN / Thanks for 300 Watchers, 1k Favs
Posted 7 years agoHi there!
First of all, thanks for all the Watches and Favorites. I really appreciate all the support you guys have given me! Drawing's been a great creative outlet for me over the last couple years, and I've really enjoyed improving and sharing my art with you guys. I hope I can be a little more productive moving forward, I know I've had lots of dry periods.
Secondly, I'm opening up commissions to the public. There will be 8 slots, though I have a few people who've already shown interest. If you're at all interested in a commission just throw me a note or a DM on Discord. You don't have to pay up front or anything so if you don't know what you want or change your mind it's no problem.
