Wow, been awhile since I've been over here on this account! Gonna try and stay a little more active over here if I can.

So some life updates, I'm now a full-time self-employed freelance artist, with all the freedom AND financial stress that implies. It's been a very steep learning curve but on the bright side, it does mean that I'm taking online commissions MUCH more frequently than I used to so hopefully I'll take a few on this account soon if there's any interest.

I also made a Ko-Fi account on the off-chance that anyone who wants to support me but can't afford a commission right now wouldn't mind tossing a few bucks my way. No presh, but it's there if anyone's inclined to use it!

Other than that, just hangin in there and working my butt off.

AND, two weeks later, I'm also going to be at Anime Boston on March 31st, and April 1st and 2nd! I'll probably do another announcement down the line with more specific deets, but you'll certainly be able to find me there.

3. Foxfeather Adoptables!
So as some folks may have noticed, I decided to try my hand at making some adoptables. I'm in a kind of transitory period of my life right now, so I'm trying to explore some other ways to generate cash while I get back on my feet. I'm pretty new to this sort of thing, so any sort of feedback would be appreciated! The species I came up with are fox/bird hybrids, with the first batch all based on birds I grew up seeing in New England! There are six available, priced from $20 to $40.

What sorts of things do people like to see in adoptables?

I'm thinking of starting to offer them, but I've never drawn or bought them before so I'm not really sure what the scene is like.

So as I'm sure some of you noticed from the GIANT GLUT OF ART I put up the other day, I finally decided to get this gallery up to date after awhile not not poking it much.

I'm still also uploading over on Weasyl and will likely be uploading art there FIRST, but this page was pretty out of date so I figured I'd fix it up.

OKAY so while I don't plan to leave FA entirely, I've finished setting up shop on Weasyl and I'm going to try and be uploading mainly over there from now on. The environment on this website just leaves such a sour taste in my mouth-- it's not a matter of "drama", it's of the constant and unapologetic rape culture that's being reflected in the staff's decisions. Just found out about all the shit going down. As an assault survivor myself, I'm pretty disgusted with what's going on. The staff on this site have always seemed rather unsavory but this crosses a line.

I'm not going to leave the site-- I have adblock so as far as I know they're not making even a penny off of me, and I've met some cool people here. But I'm thinking about setting up shop in Weasyl so that I don't have to waste much time looking at this place outside of uploading my own stuff and checking out my watchlist.

SO yeah.

That's probably gonna be a thing.

As some of you know, I'm from the Boston area. Lived here my whole life. My parents work at MIT, I've been in and out of that campus pretty much my whole life, from early childhood onward. Same with Boston itself, really.

I don't really know what the point of this journal is aside from to say that we're kind of reeling in shock. Nothing has ever hit this close to home before.

My boss let me come home early today-- obviously my parents are safe (we got an emergency phonecall last night so they didn't even go into work this morning) but it's still horrifying to imagine.

But yeah, uh, we're safe, we're staying home and being glued to the television.

Just trying to keep my mind off things while still paying attention to the news...

So um, guys.

Aside from Heathen City and commissions, I am pretty much a jobless bum. But I wanna be able to have some cash on-hand for Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver so I have been thinking.

How many of you lovely people would be interested if I did one of those 100 50-cent sketch commission things?

I highly doubt anyone looks at this account enough to wonder about the lack of activity, but on the off-chance that anyone does, here's the skinny:

Turns out I had the excellent luck to wind up with a psychotic bully of a room mate right off the bat. For awhile, it was looking really grim-- I was already getting behind in my schoolwork and I couldn't leave the room without having to worry about my possessions being in danger.

It also turns out that no matter how intimidating they are, most bullies are still just a lot of hot air, even in college. Although I didn't know it at the time, it turns out:

"I am absolutely, 100% staying in this room" = "I will be looking for another place to live within two days once I realize you actually WILL go to the authorities about my threatening you and I actually get in trouble"

and

"No one will ever believe you" = "No one will ever believe you except for everyone, including all your friends and also the Assistant Dean".



So I now have the room to myself, at least for a week or so, until someone new moves in. I'm hoping it will be someone better-- but I know I've done all I can do, and I'm just a little bit proud of myself.
But I couldn't have done it alone-- I have the most wonderful friends and family that anyone could ask for and they got me through it. You all know who you are.


Commissions can resume now.  shadwalk, you're first-up.

Let's see if I can actually get something done now!
