I've decided to do a two part old artwork weekly thing. I'm starting from the back and moving my way forward so everyone has a chance to look at the artwork they might avoid from two years ago because its hidden in the back of the gallery. One will be in the Featured Submission and one will be under the red text in my profile information.

And only comic covers will be featured, not pages of the comic itself although those are easy to scroll through because they have their buttons.

I'm back, just to let you guys know hee hee. Did I do much art there? Eh...not so much haha. I started two pieces which I might scan and show you guys later. I've been working on something else lately though. I went shopping and bought a little set of models of dragons you put together and paint for dirt cheap and have been working on them. They're not super-cool haha but I couldn't resist. I've finished painting the one that looks close to Searanox and am adding his mane as we speak. I'll try to take a decent picture and post it as soon as his mane dries and I can trim and cut it.

I went to see the Paulding Light in Paulding/Watersmeet MI for the second time in three years I think? That thing is CRAZY. Saw lots of deer, a wild Barred Owl flew over the roadway and landed when we were driving into town, FOUR wild ermine and of course Loons (the bird you crazy people) and the bald eagles. Always see fish and crayfish in the lakes and waterfall pools too.

I read some, knit some, and mostly just relaxed which was totally fine. Its nice to slow down for a bit.

Already, Angel?

Yes. I'm posting this now in the hopes those usual friendly of friends read at some point over the weekend that I will be GONE this coming Monday, the 25th to the following Sunday, the 31st.

Where am I going? To Artemis' cabin this time round (yes the one in Wolf's Den) for those six days. As far as I know I will not have internet (I might not even have phone service....who knows up there, every time I've been up there I've never had it) so there will be no way of alerting you kids if I get abducted by wolves, or bears, or crazy people.

Lets just hope I see them from a good distance, that includes the crazy people.

On another note, I rescued a deer mouse a couple of days ago (again, I think since I've been on here I keep telling you guys when I do haha) who is still very much so little. Well, this morning I found another mouse trapped, this one full grown and he's definitely not doing as well as the little guy. I'm hoping that his little body can come down from the stress so he can be saved like his probably baby.

Breaking news, Angel does not eat mice haha. I like fish and shrimp but not mice so much.

So, title withstanding, it is officially just after 3am.

I went, dressed up in Gryffindor Robes, tie, sweater, and skirt as well as the time turner, Hermione's original wand, one dragon on my shoulder and the other wrapped around my wrist, to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 midnight showing at the IMAX 3D theater.

Yes, for all those who didn't notice, I am a nerd.

Harry Potter came out first in 1997. I was in Middle School, prime same age as Harry and the lot when I started reading it so I've been with it for a while so just accept the fact I am a Harry Potter fan and not a Twilight one. People seem to get those confused, or say if you like one you MUST like the other. On the contrary not so much in my case.

The movie was good, I loved it and will probably go see it again without all the nerd garb.

I realized something tonight though. This movie kind of is the ending of my childhood.

Now I'm 25, have a bachelors in arts education and have, for all intensive purposes, two jobs so...I've been an adult for a little while now.

But it still is kind of a brutal thing, the end of it all. It is an epic and violent end it feels like to me. Do I feel sad? Naw, not really. I know I'm never going to really grow up, but it is bitter sweet. I have many memories of Harry Potter, the novels and the movies and it feels sad I won't have any more of those sudden new flavors to chew on, but it ends the way its supposed to.

Kudos to J.k. Rowling, hopefully she can breathe some what after helping produce the last film and seeing it on its way.

I will miss growing up, and I'll just have to look forward to growing older.

Maybe growing younger, that might not be so bad either.

Alright guys, I hear you! What I do is all up to me and I need to appreciate what I have right now . Do you guys respect me more because I don't post yiff/porn? I've had this thought lately. If you post yiffy/sexual images you get triple the hits, doesn't matter if its good or not. I just wanted to ask aloud if any of you...I don't want to use the word appreciate but I think I have to, do any of you appreciate me trying to keep it clean?

Yes I have nudes occasionally, and as of lately I've hit a brick wall for art. No Wolf's Den, no WYDS, no nothing, not even sketching.

So I have my after school art job and had a blast with it starting in January and thought the summer would be filled with more of the drawing camps.

My last camp just got cancelled today so no teaching art to kids this summer . Which means one less pay check, which means less money which means not a very happy Angel camper.

On another note, I'm teaching an activity of sorts at a Festival this weekend in one of the school districts I got involved in through my after school teaching company. I'm working on that these last few days to get it squared and ready. Of course I had last minute epiphanies...last minute so I have to go on a shopping trip to get the other materials I need which I'm hoping to be this afternoon.

I also might have another after school teaching job at an arts center nearby this coming fall. Once again nothing of course during the summer when things slow down on my part but at least its something to look forward to. I'm meeting with them Friday morning, so wish me luck with that.

Next week went from filled to dead in one email, geez...

Just wanted to announce my return to the masses who are around and didn't know I was back!

And  az_the_wox has a job interview Monday so wish him lots of luck and send good vibes his way!

NOW...Angel has loads of projects to do, which I will do them on my time *big grin*.

Did I get anything accomplished while I was on vacation?

No not really. I got to practice with my colored pencil skills, been reviewing the Dynamic Anatomy books I own and having the urge to write but having no outlet/avenue to write in as of recently.

Didn't do Tygar, WYDS or Wolf's Den while I was there even though the computer was around. Honestly I dunno if I got it out more than once while I was there. I showed my geeky cousin it cause he wanted to see it and that was about it HA. My cousins are all like ten years older than me, all of them on both sides of my parents so he is older, but he's still a geek. He claimed I couldn't call him a geek since he got married and has a son now, no he's still a geek.

ANYWAYS, saw lots and lots of wildlife including wolves this time round. Fishing was awesome there, even though the cooler temperature and the rain kept me in sometimes.

So I am back, greetings! Hee hee.

I found the freaking FONT!!!

After some thinking I've decided to really change up Tygar's original story line and take it down another path that I think will be more...I dunno it will be less graphic and sad. Originally something very bad was going to happen to Ira and the way the "Illusionists" meet her is more like a Star Trek episode rather than what Tygar has evolved into. This other storyline makes more sense I think, personally. The other storyline was a lot harder on Ira and was developed like five years ago so since Tygar took a break I think that the story can change too, to what ever I like of it.

What does this mean? Well, it means that I'm going to develop a new Cover Page and Title to it. It will no longer be the prologue but the first chapter. Most likely the title will just be called "The Predators" versus "The Predators and Capture".

I'm doodling the next page of tygar currently, sort of...well got the first shot (can't call it a panel haha) drawn.

Yeah, I got there and they had two female rats waiting to be adopted. One was a chocolate/siamese mix so she was tan and grey with white front feet and a white belly and having some allergic reaction to the bedding they had her in originally so she had little bald spots which made me very very sad/guilty. The other one was a little chocolate dumbo rat who seemed very skiddish but dumbos usually are, and more snuggly sweet. They were in the same aquarium.

Needless to say, I got them both.

So now I have TWO names I need to come up with! But I see some people have already started naming the babies haha.

I had to put my rat, Mocha-chino to sleep this morning.

She was four and a half years old.

I stayed up with her when I heard her convulsing this morning. I'm not sure why she started to but I know somehow in her convulsions, it paralyzed her back legs. She couldn't walk anymore but she was trying to. I couldn't watch her starve to death.

Lack of sleep and downer mood are back.

If you didn't know, I dun sleep well sometimes, and just about 10 minutes ago a bad storm rolled in and is raging outside my windows so its not easy for me to sleep.

Next part, the 400 submissions piece where I asked for those 16 furs to be in the image? I'm scrapping it, sorry. I just do not want to do it anymore, it is one of those added stressers to my life that just doesn't need to be there. Thanks for all those furs who responded to the free cameo in the piece.

Third, I came to a realization earlier. I was feeling bad and stressed because I thought I was doing too much art, drawing too much stuff and that soon you guys would just get sick of seeing my junk pop up in your new submissions thing.

And I thought, hey, if I feel like drawing then I should. But, half the time I think I was drawing just to please other people or make sure something was posted in the gallery for you guys to look at and enjoy. I'm scrapping those ideas. What does that mean?

It means that I'm being selfish and drawing only for me. I'm not going to be drawing unless I feel like it and drawing the things I want to draw versus trying to draw things to please you guys.

Now is any of this your guys' fault? No, of course not. This is my fault for wanting to have those little comment messages and favorites and new watchers and all that jazz. I wanted to be popular on here, and thusly neglected my own needs as an artist and a furson. I love it when you guys enjoy my artwork, don't get me wrong there, I appreciate all the comments and favorites and time you guys spend looking at my stuff, but I've been drawing some of the pieces I have for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to win the popularity contest, which in itself is a selfish act but I also wanted to please everyone but myself.

I can't do that anymore, its just making me have mood swings up and left and down and right. Now, since my emotions are so interconnected to my art and dreams and such, I'm hoping that putting those drawing emotional venting needs first will help with my rabid to depressed mood changes.

Will this affect Wolf's Den? I'm not sure yet. I still have a few weeks worth for you guys to look at. Am I currently inspired to draw more of it? No, but it will come as a wave where I draw three pages at once so we'll just have to see when that comes.

What else will this change? Mostly the characters I draw. I'm going to attempt to only use strictly my own characters and settings and all that jazz, no outside influences so it is purely me on the page. I am addressing my needs head on, because I've pushed them so far back lately I don't know where to begin or end.

How long will this last? That, I dunno either. Until I feel like I've mentally gotten myself right. I don't want to be disappointed anymore because others don't favorite/comment/like or even look at a piece of mine. I need to get passed that point before I start to let other influences creep back into my artwork I think. I need to understand again that I do my artwork for me, and to help me as a furson express feelings that are hard for me to express in words, and practice to make myself better at what I love to do.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

Watchers! In need of some help! I need to practice body/form!!!

I need poses, with a male and female character but NOT in the act of sex please. Think of this as a romance novel cover pose, but less cheesy. I want you guys to POST the LINKS below of the pictures that you find on here or other places (I don't care if they're furry or not as long as I can see most or all of their bodies) so I can determine what I want to use. If you have or find an image that you just adore that has females only or males only, I can work round that I think but I'm more trying for the female/male posing first.

Now, why am I asking this? Because I want to try to do a romantic picture with a pose I have not tried yet, or several different pictures. I haven't quite decided how many I'll do, it depends on how many good ones you guys find. I am in need of challenging myself and need practice drawing male characters. More than likely they will be nudes but the images you guys find DO NOT have to be nudes. I can guess/understand a pose with clothes on.

Dancing poses are a very good start in searching, but I don't want to do a bunch of just dancing y'know? The examples below are for you guys more than me, I love the images but I don't want to draw them.

New Journal:
Here I am again, sitting and just sitting. I haven't drawn in days, I'm hoping to change that today. So far, no luck...

Good news though, I called around to humane societies in the area, but there were no rats. Then I called the Petco Adoption Center and lo and behold they had two little two month old rats up for adoption. I adopted them both because I overheard another "adoptee" that he needed a feeder rat and adopting one was cheaper than buying a feeder...
So now I have three rats in total, Mocha (she's been the eldest and came to me at about 1, she's about 3 now and still feisty) and the two new little ones are named "Ink" and "Espresso". Mocha is a siamese/albino cross ratty, and the two little ones are brown hooded rats.

Finishing up Christmas shopping. Um...that's all for now.

The Old Journal:
One of my pet rats died last night. She was adopted from the humane society and had mange and respiratory complications all I had her. Still, she was doing just fine that morning. I had her for one year, she was about 2 1/2 years old we think, hard to tell when the original owners just dropped her off with her sister at the society's doorstep.
I named her Turtle, I actually posted a picture of her on here when I got her so people could help me name her, but since i named her I deleted the submission. I don't know if any of you were around or remember that.
About a year ago (Dec. 17) my cat of 11 years passed away, so December is looking to be a grim remembrance for me.
This December has thus far been very very hard, and I'm beginning to feel like I just want to stay away from everything.

Good Question!
Answer: Average time is a couple of hours, if its a comic page with four strips and at least two panels per strip, about 4 give or take. If its a large pin-up or no bg picture, about an hour and a half, if its a picture with a complex bg, usually at least 3-4 hours. If its a new pose or a new character then 4 hours is the minimum, 5-6 hours maximum. There are some averages for you! lol

Answer 1: Well, maybe lol. I'd love to have an art trade maybe of them sparring?
Answer 2: Ira is the motherly/more strong side of myself. Most of this side comes out when I teach. In the comic she's from she is the leader of an entire clan of other tygars, so she's a natural leader and knows how to keep others calm and just wants to make sure everyone is alright.

Similar, but not so namey is:

Can you name a fictional character that has left a lasting impression on you and become a permanent favorite character of yours?"

Answers: Merlin, or Emyrus has stuck with me a lot. It used to be my screen name for everything but I've never named a pet after him. When I name pets its more their personality that comes out, and with kids names I'm SUPER specific like when I name characters. Other fictional characters I keep in mind when I write or draw or do any story boarding is...The Phantom from the Phantom of the Opera (book and musical) Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Gwenvyll and Dogmar (horrible name lol but she's a hoot) from a dragon book series I read (Azzy got me into lol), Merriman from the BOOKS the dark is rising, B'Elanna Torres and Tom Paris from star trek voyager, Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity, Dean Winchester from Supernatural (all these bad boy characters are popping up...)
Lots...lots of characters keep popping up lol. Those are the ones that really have stuck with me.

It takes me about 3-4 hours. I start with the layout of the page, so the bars and panels are first. I do this all in Adobe Photoshop, and use layers generally. First layer is just the black bars and white panel space. I do another new layer, and sketch with a grey color the subjects and what they're doing in each panel. Then I get another layer and re-draw them in black with more easy, crisp lines. I delete the sketching layer, and flatten the whole thing and save it to make sure I have the line art at least lol. Then I give the subjects flat color and delete the spaces around them to put the backgrounds in.

I try to make the bg's beforehand, on a separate picture and copy and paste them as separate layers to go behind each panel. This saves me time and it makes the bg's consistent.
Then I flatten again and save.
After that its shading time, so I add a new layer, make it only 15% strong (its opacity) and use black to shade the flat shadows.
Then its flattening, saving, and putting my signature in the corner.
And I shrink it down and save it on the "Save For Web" setting for the comic sites.

And Jimmy, he's actually a character made LONG before I met Az. He was actually developed from my brother's ferret Jimmy and he was mostly made to give Angel an excuse to leave Brady in the roomies hands lol, but then I started putting more personality and a past that a very close friend of mine has and let me use, so he's evolved into a character based on a ferret and a close friend. If he has Azzy tendencies now, its because I'm around Azzy LOL. Jimmy the ferret was a silver-albino cross ferret (he died earlier this year ) so that's why he's white with pick eyes.

Answer(s):
Well, lots of things can make me happy. I like being active though, I'm a multitasker for sure so when I do things, I do a lot of other things at the same time lol.
Drawing/Artwork in general, Azzy lol, getting surprise presents, singing to the radio when a good song comes on (I know I'm in a good mood when I sing in the car lol if I like the song and don't sing to it, I'm tired or I'm not happy), writing, watching movies, reading books, playing Spyro and other games, watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, knitting, baking, cooking, love shopping for certain things, like shoes, art supplies, socks, messing around on the internet lol, talking to people who generally and honestly seem like good people!
What makes me giddy with joy...when the radio plays a song I love lol, getting a commission, trying something new/making myself be brave and accomplishing something important. Getting inspiration, no matter where it is, to do a piece of art or writing. When a new idea for a comic blazes into my brain, I get super excited and really just want to sit down and attempt to do it to get it out of my brain, usually however I'm at work or in the car when that happens lol hard to draw or write then.
I miss being in college, at school with my roommates a lot now. When I was there, my friends and I would just sit in the living room, watch a movie and do creative things even if they weren't together. I got a lot of the good vibes and creative juices from them. They like to write, so when we'd sit together and they would write I would write and draw as well. I didn't get my graphics tablet until after they graduated and I still had student teaching to do.
Holiday Season....hhmmm...the one thing I was hoping did actually come true already. We had a dog at work who had been there since October and needed a home very badly, but last week she actually was taken in by a foster family until they can place her permanently. Her name is Sadie, and she's a good girl. Mostly now I hope that at some point if people are able, they donate to something they believe in, whether its money or time or things. There will always be needy families and pets.
And I hope to get some commissions lol, that would be nice.

My cat died Wednesday morning at 4am of what my mom thinks (she's a veterinarian) of heart complications. I came home to her unable to use her back legs and breathing strangely the night before. She was diabetic so my mother thought it was something that I can't remember and sent me to the pharmacy twice to get things for her. I sat with her as long as I could before I had to get some sleep, teaching the next morning. My mom stayed up and checked on her every hour to see if she was better or worse and at 4:00am she stopped breathing. She was 11 years old, and this came out of no where even with the diabetes, that wasn't what killed her.

Because I have had to teach this week, I haven't been able to really let anything out without being a major mess in front of the kids or my co-op teacher. I can't let that slip into my teaching while I'm student teaching but I REALLY wish I could just let go. Now with the holidays coming, I have a break from teaching, and maybe this weekend I'll let myself go a little, get something out.

Hardest part was the empty pillow beside my head when I sleep, coming into my room and naturally saying a greeting for her, remembering to give her the insulin in the morning and at night and then having to tell myself that won't happen anymore. I came home today from teaching, getting out of my car I thought "Oh time to give catcat her insulin" (yes, that was her name), and then the voice pops back in "no, she's dead".

This is a grieving post, since right now in my life I have no other means or outlet that I can do without having a complete meltdown. She was my first cat that was all mine, and I love her.
