Posted 12 years agoI'm one of those crazy commissioners that loves being involved in the artistic process. I like WIPs, I like asking for revisions, I like asking for the artists' opinions on a certain idea while we go over a sketch together.
Hell, I've even sent extra money to some artists whose first update to me in months was they they were sick. Why? Because I care. Because it's a human experience, human to human interaction.
When I hand an artist access to my wallet, with the prices they set, I am expressing confidence and trust in not only their ability, but in their potential to interact in a human way with me. They're paid to create and capture my idea to the best of their ability. I know that it's relatively painful, considering how most are paid below minimum wage for their labor, but I do my best to make the process as easy as possible.
So, when you've gone around and gotten yourself in a heapshit of trouble, and make me wait almost half a year for a commission that you promised to me HALF A YEAR AGO, please take into consideration my wants. When you send me that WIP, please consider that, yes, you're the artist, and yes, you have your style, but if I ask you for simple revisions, even if you feel uncomfortable doing them, please reply with the simple courtesy of "I'll try, but I don't think I'll be able to, because it clashes with my style."
Effort's what counts. I think, that after waiting patiently, with a smile, almost half a year for a piece that I invested a large chunk of money to, the least I deserve is the effort to get what I paid for. I'm not paying you to pretend a veil of consideration for me and my wants. That's not what sending WIPs is about.
The least you can do is try.

all you're doing is contributing to this so-called "popularity" that you're complaining about.
