I'm planning on shutting down picklejuice13.com's "anyone can see the dangly bits" setting, and making it so that ONLY REGISTERED USERS can see The Office Bitch and Manspider.

Basically, anything with adult content.

The reason for this is twofold. If, in the future, I wish to be employed in a "Regular" job, hosting my own website might be a selling point. I'd like to be able to throw up "picklejuice13.com" and say "I did that. All of it. Mostly." I'd like to, but right now I don't feel I can because many adults are quite childish when it comes to taste and dangly bits.

Maybe I'm being paranoid.

Secondfold, 300,000 views on my video "dragonwish." ... pretty big name recognition there, and anyone who goes to "picklejuice13.com" right now... after hearing the atrocious and disturbing song I made ... can currently see even more atrocious and even more disturbing images. With nothing but a "uhh hey. there's adult content on here" message.

Maybe I'm being paranoid.

Maybe the damage is already done.

I'm conflicted. I hate censorship. It's stupid. We're all adults here. And I don't think it's right to treat children like children.

Thirdly, children exist, and there are laws. :P

So, yeah. I'm going to be shutting down the adult content for ANYONE to see on picklejuice13.com.

My name?

"pick1ejuice" is a search engine term that brings up a plethora of adult stuff. At a local furry gathering, in a conversation, it was agreed "don't tell the kids to search for pick1ejuice."

I have nieces and nephews. I have parents and classmates. I have potential employers. I have a significant fanbase that is completely uninterested in the adult things that pop up when that term is used to search for art.

There's nothing wrong with adult stuff in my opinion. But in respect to the "norms" when I'm asked "Well, what have you been doing for the last 4 years?" I'd like to be able to give them a google search term that won't throw penises and vaginas at them.

It's only polite.

However, such an undertaking is epicly huge. I've already made tentative tiptoes into the vast domain of transforming my name. Swap out the # for a different letter when you search for "art#urjeremypearson deviantart" and you'll see a few public pieces of art I've done that I currently never intend to display under the user name "pick1ejuice." They exist solely as things I can show nieces, relatives, potential employers, and possibly a portion of my small fanbase.

Then along comes the inevitable "oh! You're stealing from pickle!" or "oh! you're stealing from art#ur!" Such headaches only waste one's time.

I want to be polite to the non-furs closest to me. But is it worth it to create an alternate identity, even if it's your RL name? Or, should I continue as I have and omit some facts when telling people what I do?

And I apparently started it in April. :P

I forgot to get a hotel room, I forgot to register, I got a scare and some hospital bills from a kidney stone, I don't feel like it this year, I've been feeling some exestential ennui, blah blah blah. Not going this year.

Told a bunch of people I was going to go, but it's just not in the cards this year. I'll be there next year, everyone.

RANT:

So, Central standard time is GMT -6, except for when we're observing Daylight Savings Time, in which case it's GMT-5. Only, they don't call it GMT anymore, it's UTC. Exact same thing, they just changed the abbreviation. Because of all this, I've been advertising livestreaming an hour off all summer long.

Well, no more! I no longer trust "GMT-6" as my time zone, and will manually check GMT / UTC / whatever they call it now/ before posting a livestream notice.

So, as far as my flawed human brain can understand it, I will be starting at 5 PM Central Standard Time (Daylight Savings Time) at GMT/UTC -5 on the 14th day of the 8th month of 2012.

Is there a better way of doing this? Some sort of automated thing I could post to indicating the time?

The hard drive ate some pictures and some of the database. I've restored it as best I can.

Your rss by category settings might be off though. Let me know if this is the case, and I'll try to figure out how to put it back for everyone.

My comics website is currently down. www.picklejuice13.com - but it should be up again before grease-moss.

My sysadmin helped me getting the beagleboard up and running, and was able to set it up to be a little more stable. The files and comments and user IDs are all preserved in the database, and the database is mostly uncorrupted. It's mostly just a matter of me getting all the files put back together in the right order.

It's an all-day project, so I've been putting it off in favor of getting commission work done and doing family stuff.

What sort of topics do you think would be good to bring up for the panel?

I'm going to MFF this year and probably hosting a panel on transformations. Otherwise, I'll be in the artist's alley or wandering around drawing stuff.
