Typing it down for the weird sense of closure, since FurAffinity is where I both started getting into digital artwork and gaining a lot of penpals back in the day. That, and it always sucks to see dead accounts of unexplicably vanished artists on this site, so at least I could type down an explanation for why it's not active anymore.

- Frankly, just tired of how FurAffinity handles things in general - the site is 10 years out of date at this point, a lot of promised features haven't been implemented, and excessive self-promotion posts still remain a major issue that haven't been addressed in a proper way. There's just better platforms for discovering and sharing furry artwork nowadays, and I've found myself completely replacing FA with other sites over the years. I also have issues with Dragoneer as a project leader (and was unpleasantly surprised by his return as owner of FA), but his poor handling of the site was extensively covered by the internet, and I don't want to turn this journal into a drama piece.

- While I still like and draw anthro artwork, I've also spread myself in a ton of other fields (programming, 3D modelling, etc.), so I don't have as much to post to warrant updating this userpage. That, and I've used to indulge in anthro critters as a respite for my personal issues and struggles, but now I'm in much better place mentally than I used to be, so there's not as much need for it.

- As of 2022, there's an ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, and I happen to live in Russia, being literally stuck in fascist dictatorship - not to mention that I'm a member of LGBTQ community, which paints another target on my back. I'm currently working on potential migration/refuge opportunities, and updating my art pages is the least of my priorities at the moment.

Speaking shortly, I'm on a diet and exercises right now (doubling down on improving my body again after giving myself some slack for a couple of months or so), so aside of full-time job, I spend a lot of my time outdoors. Well, I dunno. Honestly, I just became disappointed with the site more and more with each passing year - from decade long problems with making promises about updating the site and not going through with them, to constant donation pleads to buy new servers (instead of hiring an experienced sysop and optimizing the thing, which would be much cheaper), to repeated downtimes and password leaks, to staff's incompetence in dealing with said leaks (the great 2016 password reset that left many users without an account access for a couple of weeks or so), to IMVU sellout, to practically allowing the browse feed to be spammed with YCH and Patreon reminders without giving users proper options to hide the thing (something they didn't do a good job of controlling to begin with, but at least they kinda tried at first), to anonymously "hiring" volunteer mods to do all the dirty ticket sorting work for free (on a heavily monetized site, yeah). Same can be said about the audience - it's dwindling, with more and more people leaving the site with each year, and browse feed being a barren wasteland compared to what it was before. There aren't really many exclusive FA artists either - most of the people out there already have a Tumblr page or a DeviantArt account, which gives me less points to stay around here.

When I planned to write this journal, I really expected it to be more on a short side, and in the end, it turned into a bit of a rant - I guess, that's because I genuinely loved being here half a decade ago or so, and, welp, I'm not anymore. There's no reason to stay here due to most of my favorite artists already being on better artwork galleries, it's not safe to stay here due to severe leaks happening every year or two, and I don't want to stay here because that would mean both Neer and IMVU get some money on me seeing the ad banners all over the FA, and I don't want to give them a penny even indirectly. As cheesy as it sounds, I'm kinda ashamed of what this site had become. Althrough to be honest, FAF is still a relatively good (if small) community, but I just don't like the mods there - they're a good people, but they're just too eager to ban slightly questionable threads (like the one on discussion of digital piracy) while not doing a good job at actually locking out toxic and rule-infringing ones (like the religion shitstorm threads). I don't really blame them, considering what it's kind of a hellhole behind the scenes, but I just think there are better forums out there with more healthy environment for a good discussion.

It was a fun experience for 8 days, but the whole Inktober thing takes too much time for rather samey (if cutesy) returns, the time I could use for more ambitious stuff. Honestly, I started the whole thing to bring myself back to drawing stuff, so it was a successful week, since I finally eliminated my artblock and revived my passion for drawing/animating things. I guess I'll just finish the trades and return to my backlog of ideas from now on, so expect better stuff from this point .u.

As much as I like chatting with people out here, I have a rather tight schedule (with my full-time job, all the personal projects, or just real life things getting in the way) so please don't get upset if I don't answer your post for several days. Thing is, English is not my native language, and sometimes it's rather hard for me to put my thoughts together properly without wasting a lot of time, which is why I occasionally postpone my answers. In my opinion, it's much better to give a proper and genuine response later than a lazy and incoherent one (as I said, writing something in English is sort of a challenge for me :D ). I'll eventually get to everybody - even if I remain silent for several days, that doesn't mean I forgot about ya .u.
