The Fence: Checking In!
General | Posted 5 years agoHello everybody! It's been a hot minute since I updated my journal (You can thank my 3rd shift job and painting my 40k minis for that) but over the last couple of months, I've acquired quite a few adoptables and had an idea for a series to upload. I want to call it "Checking In!" and it would involve illustrating my take on some of the adoptables I've taken in for my graphic novel series with a side-by-side comparison.
While some could call me uncreative for this take, what I love about adopts is that my book series takes place in a grand multiverse and has a diverse array of species and involves multiple planes of existence. While I am not crossing into any other established properties (this isn't fanfiction) even my own creativity has it's boundaries and I like crossing bridges with other creators as well as wanting to support other artists. It's really satisfying to me to find inspiration from other artists because as creators, I have this strange belief that we're all connected on some level or another. I know I'm creative enough on my own, but to be able to help other creators is a life goal of mine and it's cool to see how other people bring certain characters and creatures to life. When I do write my book series, Fablefold, I even wanted to hire a cadre of trusted comic artists to illustrate different chapters, though I'll still be providing my own art and direction to the series.
But I look forward to showing the creators I've purchased designs from what I've been doing with them and would be a great opportunity to reconnect; I feel like we need to given the times.
As a bonus, I'd also love to show pictures of my Warhammer 40k miniatures, but I often debate if that is good material to put on a furry art site, lol. But given the jokes the 40k crowd likes to make about furries, I think it would be kind of ironic to come out as both a furry and a 40k player. Eat shit, stereotypes!
So long for now, and I will be uploading more!

The Fence: A Poll to help me out
General | Posted 5 years agoI am coming up with a catchphrase for my anthromorphic graphic novel Fablefold: Defy the Narrative. The most pronounced theme is essentially socialism vs. fascism. The promotional phrase will feature conflicting headshots of two key characters split down the middle in a typical "both sides" kind of narrative, but one side is objectively worse than the other; the moral of the series is that sometimes there isn't a 'both sides' and sometimes it just comes down to good vs. evil. It's a criticism of our modern day politics in a fantasy/sci fi setting and how we have a tenancy to try too hard to justify the beliefs of all parties involved. I.e "enlightened centrism"
"What phrase below sounds the catchiest and/or rolls off the tongue" best to you?

The Fence: Salutations!
General | Posted 5 years agoHello! And welcome to the DeviantArt page of Pixelgoat, where I am a mixed media artist from Connecticut who is looking to branch out onto the art world after leaving a decade-long marriage that I originally started with another artist from Deviant Artist a long time ago. This page is a testament to my will to try again after all of these years to try and overcome my anxiety and shame and re-explore my creativity as I feel comfortable to do so. I'm ready to turn over a new leaf (possibly eat it too, having goats as a spirit animal lol.)
I am a graphic novelist who is developing the universe the setting takes place in called FableFold that is a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid world filled with anthromorphic characters; while some of those characters will appear here, this page is more for non-project related art. You can find my FurAffinity page for FableFold here: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/fablefold/
You can find the DA page dedicated to the FableFold universe here: https://www.deviantart.com/fablefold
While I am not feeling emotionally committed, productive and/or safe yet to take commissions (I've never done so before) I do gift art for other people when I can.
Thanks for dropping by the fence of Pixelgoat; there will be more to come!
(The Fence, ey? I like that. Gonna call my regular journals that from now on...)
