My time in the furry fandom
General | Posted 10 years agoI've met so many wonderful people thanks to the fandom, fantastic artists, great friends, many of whom i consider family, and memories of a lifetime.
I can't name everyone individually, but to everyone,thank you, for welcoming me into the community, and I hope we all continue to have a hopping good time :P

A shift of personality, a shift of species

I've been mulling over the recent events of my life, and noticed I've changed a lot since joining the fandom.
To begin with, I was very shy and mostly inactive when I first joined the fandom a few years back, just not confident in both my drawing and being social.
Now, I'm in multiple groups, made great friends, drew a ton of new stuff, and have just been feeling, well, more open.
As for the species change? Well, there is a story behind that one. (caution, lots of reading)
In my clan, we have a couple furs, and they were unaware that I was one too, since I was still awkward and shy about it. One night, while selling glowy flashy thingies, I noticed a pair of rabbit ears that were green. To amuse Karden, I put them on, took a picture, then sent it to him.
From then on, for almost 2 years, he nicknamed be "Rabbit" from that one amusing photo. My fursona then was a House-cat. Over that time though, the nickname kinda seemed to sink in, catching myself saying "I'll hop into there" and what not.
Then, one day on Tumblr, I saw a picture of a Rabbit, and thought "Oh hey, that's an awesome Rabbit", commence double take, it was actually a Cabbit! (Notice that it is tagged as NSFW : http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13509389/ (all rights to the respective owners))
It just seemed to just.. click. This was something that I connected with stronger than a house-cat and bunny separately. Since seeing that, I have mulled over changing. With the help of my friends, I have made the decision to identify as a Cabbit.
All in all, Pladim, my main character and my fursona, is now a Cabbit. (I'm sure I will come up with an elaborate back story for in-characterness at some point.)
