So on Monday, my birthday, I'll be hopping on a plane back to Nevada! And will be back to posting stuffs.

I won't officially be home home until the 18th though because it'll be like 11 at night when my plane gets in.

Hey hey guys! Just swinging in to give a quick little update, this is written on my phone so I'll apologize now for any possible mistakes.

First, sorry that I didn't post the next page. Can't really do that without internet or a computer haha. But on the plus side I will have enough done that in should be able to do two a week.

So far I have been really enjoying myself, hanging out mostly with family and got to have a horror movie night with my friend.

I had two funerals to go to, one was for my brother's grandma who isn't related to me but I still count her as mine because she was a grandma to everyone. Her death was very unexpected, she was only 60 some years old. I'm really glad I got to make the service though.

The second was for my great.... great uncle John who was 93. My mom said that at 93 he was ready to go. My great great aunt Rose said "I'm not gonna cry, we were married for 65 years. I am thankful for that." Which is why I love my family, we don't get upset about much and look on the brighter side.


I'm going to end it here because typing on a phone is annoying but I hope you all are having a great summer!

I have such rotten luck with streaming, the only one I can really use it seems is Join.me. Which is nice but I would really like to have some music play for you guys.

I have this one, broadcaster but it is soooo touchy! I mean it's horrid!

I have live stream producer but I can only seem to run it in preview mode... and that's the one that does work with my webcam!

So can anyone give me a hand here? I'd love to be able to run my webcam so I can do traditional stuff and have some music playing.

Pretty much as the title says, how do you bitmap?

I figured out how to get bitmap up, but how do you do it with something colored? Cause I know you have to apparently do it grey scaled but I have no clue what to do next and how to make it all happy colorful

Also, for those who know Manga studio/ Canvas pro. Is it possible to do bitmap on there or is it only photoshop?

Alrighty! So one thing I want to do for my comic is have artist do the Chapter/issue covers. One of my favorite things with comics such as Fables (I bring that one up a lot because it is one of my favorites) is that they have different artist do the covers, than the ones that do the cover themselves. Make sense right? ...I hope... Kinda ramble-y today

So, now you can see me work on comic stuff and... sadly have the possibility of hearing my awful awful voice XD

What kind of annoying nicknames do you give your pets?

My cat Delilah has several: Gibbers, keekee, baba, Jelly belly (haven't used that one in a while), oogers
My Guinea pig Dandy, his aren't actually all that annoying: Wooker, fella, monster, wook wook

XD I feel bad because it's mostly my cat who gets the most of my obnoxiousness


Welp, got a storm rolling in, my cat finally got tired of it and angered the thunder God, she admitted it!

I really need to rant about this because of how bad it pissed me off!

Ok, so we have this new girl, she's been working here a few weeks yet, getting better but still learning. She's an older lady, about her 50s, and she apparently likes to take joy in arguing with me on how to do things.

Counting money for example. We have to be very specific on how we count money out to people, we have to lay it number side up, except for the 100s, and in groups of five. So if you were to ask me for a count down for 100 it would be: row 1: five 1s row 2: three f5s, row 3: two 10s and row 4: three 20s. This is so that the camera can see what is being laid out. And when I was training her she was laying out how a normal cashier would hand you change.

So that's exactly what I told her, "Oh Jill, we have to lay it out, number up, and in groups of 5 so that the camera can see it"
Jill: "Well someone else taught me how to do it this way!"
...everyone does it the same way I do, ev-er-y-one!


And just last night I went to the restroom. I'm pretty sure I was not out for that long. I came back I had two costumers at my window and Jill was in my area working out of my drawer. I came in and told her

"Jill! You can not be working out of my drawer when you are the bartender!"
"Well they were waiting!" So I got her out and finished taking care of the customers. After they were gone I came back out to her.

"Jill, when you are bartender you can NOT be working out of my drawer! Just like I can't work out of your register you can not be in mine, you can get in serious trouble for that."
"Well they were waiting and the one guy was getting mad! He asked me if I could take care of them!" In this case, what she was supposed to do was tell them, 'she is in the restroom, and will be right out.' no matter what happens, she can not can not can NOT work in my drawer! No one is allowed in that drawer except for me and me alone!

"Well the get out of my bar!"
"I am allowed back here!"
"That's not what Kitty said! Get out of my bar!" This too is wrong by the way, the cage person is allowed back there because on grave shift, a lot of my cleaning supplies are back there and I am the EOD, which is basically a supervisor. Also, I am allowed to get people drinks in the event that the bartender is not on the floor or is busy, but only if they are the free drinks. I am still not allowed to go into her register, that is why, even though I do not work the bar, I had to get a bar card. So I said,
"You know what... fuck you too then" So I left the bar, when it came time to clean somethings I didn't, I left that to her, my last day is next week, what are they gonna do? Fire me? I even verified it with my morning relief who happens to be one of the ones who has worked there for quite a while, about 5-7 years I think. And guess what? I was right! Fucking imagine that!


I should also add that she was a school teacher, this is her first time ever setting foot into a casino. I have been working here for about a year, may not be as long as most but I am damn good at my job, to the point where they offered me a job in town because they do not want to lose me. So you know what? She wants to argue with me, fine, she can have fun with that, cause I am done.


One last comment, is it just that because I am 24 and she's like 50 something? Is it really so hard for an older woman to take orders from me? I am not a dumb valley girl, I do my job, and while I can be cheerful and friendly, I take my work seriously and do it correctly. I'd imagine that it would earn me some respect in that regards! That, and I have worked there longer than she has!

Hey all! So as it says above I have been having some thoughts of late of where my life is going and came to a kind of revelation

Here are the two things I have been thinking about lately:

1: Art style
2. Going to an art school for the wrong reason

Art style:

As you had probably noticed, if you have been watching me for a while, I have slowed down when it comes to uploading. For a while I thought it was just because of my job. And yes, my job is part of it, I'm often too tired and drained for energy to really want to draw and lacked a lot of inspiration. It also doesn't help that, as it turns out, I liked visiting out here more than I do living out here... Anyway, it wasn't until someone made a comment that actually hit me like a ton of bricks that I realized something else that was holding me back, I was trying to be something I wasn't, a full on digital artist. As well as, try to adapt to a style that didn't fit me.

Let me explain: Since my discovery of digital art at 21 I have focused on improving my own digital skills to match those around me, if not better. *See my scraps for my digital evolution, just be warned... it's scary...* Smooth lines, sketchy lines, all kinds of lines! And coloring styles, shading styles! Because of my lack of experience in digital unlike most people who seemed to have discovered it at an earlier age, I had no clue where to start when it came to adopting my own digital flare. I depended too much on how other artist did their work to really figure out how I should do mine. And even as I became more experienced in digital it still never felt right.

Then I got a comment over on weaysl, the person stated that the style I have been doing for "Spring Fever" reminded them of the underground 1960s comics. So I looked it up. And it may seem silly but that is what hit me. That was the kind of thing I grew up with, those that don't know me may not realize this about me but, I love strange, I love freaky things, I grew up knowing strange and freaky people. The art I grew up with was bizarre and rough, not smooth or clean, and since my discovery of digital and art sites, smooth and clean is what I tried to become. It never felt natural to me, even as I evolved, it just never felt right. When I set my pencil on a piece of paper, I just go. Spring Fever is probably the fastest comic I have pumped out for some time now. When it comes to digital, I freeze, "Am I doing this right? That seems off, I better zoom in and fix that. Oh no, that lines is askew, better redo it. Ah hell, the proportions on this background guy are all off. People are going to notice" And the story starts to become lost in my thought process.


I have since realized several things:

1. My traditional lines have more energy and life to them then my digital lines, and I tend to flow more naturally
2. On the other hand, my digital coloring is stronger than my traditional coloring, it's good, but not as strong
3. The reason I have trouble with shading is because, my detail is in my drawing, not my shading. When it comes to shading, I do better when I keep it basic, it fits my style a lot better and spares my sanity
4. The underground 1960s comic look actually... fits... my main comic is a serious psychological comic. Smooth lines kind of make it seem bland in my opinion, the harsher, rougher lines give it more mood, more feeling, and actually give it a more serious tone. Also, what is perfect is... the story takes place in the 60s, makes sense dun it?
5. I have tried for the longest time to mimic art styles that were more on the "cute" side of things. Yes, I can do cute, however, my main style is not cute or at least meant to be cute *or... it's cute in it's own way... huh... hope that makes sense* (or what most people consider to be "cute")



Will you still see digital stuff? Oh yeah! I actually hit a point that I do feel pretty happy with it, most digital stuff you will see will be ref sheets and the cute toony style *clean lines are perfect for those* And of course if someone commissions me for digital work I will do it :3

Going to school for the wrong reason:

This is something that has hit me recently... I'm actually glad I didn't get into SCAD... I didn't think I would say it but... I am... I want to do comics... however, I do not want a job in making comics for other people. I want to write my own stories and hopefully get them published. Do I still need to learn things about comics to make my own? Yes. Wouldn't I have to make some connections in order to, in hopes, get published? Yes.

However, I can do that all on my own. Would it be a little more difficult? Oh hell ya! No one said it would be easy! But so far I seem to be doing pretty fine on my own. Being on this site, and going to cons I have met people who have experience in comic work and have been extremely willing and helpful in aiding me with my own. Meeting people kind of works the same way, go to cons, talk to people, be friendly. Even before I went to cons I had an insane amount of luck running into people with connections. I mean I worked with a gal who's friend got a $2000 tip from Johnny Depp. No, I'm not kidding! She also grew up in the town where Ted Bundy lived. Neat right? (not really connections just proving how likely it can be) I worked and talked to some amazing people, as long as your nice and pleasant, it's not impossible to run into someone who knows someone. Like the gal who runs my writer's group has connections with a gal who works as an agent, getting comics published is her thing.

Defining and improving my craft is also something I do well on my own, if not better! I improved faster on my own than I did going to an art college, maybe that is just me and how my brain works but yeah, the one thing I am thankful for in my college experience was the life drawing classes and the Photoshop classes. Those have always been the most helpful.



Where is my life going? Aren't I going back to college? Yes, a local community college to become a teacher of sorts. Either for a head-start or Kindergarten. I can not be with out a job, that much is true. However I want it to be one I will actually like, one that has good hours, pays decent, and won't get in the way of my art work. One thing I also learned, ...I fucking hate working graves... thought I would like it but no, biggest mistake ever!

Many people agree this is a good choice, so I'm feeling fairly confident :) And even though I haven't uploaded that much yet, I actually have been getting past my art block and drawing a lot lately! Since this realization I am pleased to say I feel comfortable with my art work again :D



I guess the perfect way to end this would be: Just do you. Don't do something because it is popular, MAKE IT POPULAR! Be amazing and soon everyone will see it as such, even if it may take a while :D

A big congrats to all gay couples out there! Was at work watching the TV when I saw the ruling :3

Though I really wouldn't want to be back home right now, got a bunch of gun toting angry red necks out there don't think they will be too happy about it, but they can get over it, just tell them you wanna take their guns away that'll change their focus XD



And also, yes! I am planning to open commissions soon! I'll be quitting my job next week so I'll be in need of some funds. I am debating on just when I will open as right after I quit I plan to go back to PA to visit friends and family, then preparing to make the move in town, I'll be attending a local college there :D

How do you feel about it?
Is there anything that you feel could be improved upon it?
Is it pleasing visually?
From just one glance do you feel it interesting and appealing?
Can you make out the images and characters ok?
Do you notice the digital corrections I make to some of the lines?
Is it clean enough?

Most importantly: Is this a style you feel comfortable with seeing in a large story? My comic could almost be 200 pages, do you feel the style could carry?

So finally I decided to do a profile revamp, pretty much move alll oooold art work to my scraps, like... really old art work, if you guys want to see it you can, just be warned it's pretty terrifying! And fixing up my profile page to be a little neater ^^

*Disclaimer: If this is a mistake you've made, I'm not gonna be mad at you ^^ I'll pretty much just politely correct you. I used to let it slide but it's happened too much and I feel it's time to bring it up. I don't want to come off as hostel but this does get pretty aggravating after a while, I hope you can understand why, these are my babes that I've put decades of work into, I do get passionate. The only time I will EVER get mad at you, is if you try to argue with me about it. So read on and understand, this is not meant as an attack but more of a "Clear the air" type of deal :3 *


I try not to rant too much because I don't want to annoy people with rant journals but this one has happened quite a few times that I feel it needs to be mentioned (I'm just gonna focus on the big man for right now to keep this not so long):


Kezhon is not human.


This is something that has always annoyed me about some members in the community, if something looks like something, then that is what it is. If it looks like a cat/wolf/fox/chicken, it is a cat/wolf/fox/chicken, if something looks human, it's human . And never seem to read much more into it (I actually read a similar journal on this once from another artist who had this problem when her closed species was criticized for looking like cats, despite all the really well thought out info that explained other wise. Not everyone does this of course, sometimes if it does happen it's just a misunderstanding, it's no big deal). This bugs me as much as it does because to me, calling Kezhon a human is like calling an elf, dwarf, vampire, Medusa or a hobbit, human. They look human yes but there is a lot about them that makes them inhuman.

Granted, Kezhon has some human ancestry, but it is so small, it's pretty much... a zero gene. It's there, it exists, it causes him some problems but next to everything else, it's kind of obsolete.



What makes Kezhon inhuman:


1. His height, he's probably well over 8-9 feet. He is huge!

2. He can actually run at 30 mphs per hour. It's rare though as in his time period, it's not needed as much. And also, he just prefers to take his time.

3. He has amazing jaw strength, same as a tundra wolfs, if not a little greater. Pretty much, put your hand in his mouth, your gonna lose it, he bites your throat, you're dead.

4. He may not look it, but he is very powerful, as I have said before, getting punched by him would be like getting struck by a sledge hammer.

5. Senses: smelling, hearing, and things of that nature are greatly heightened. He can also see pretty well at night, not as well as his maned wolf brothers because being a hybrid something are weakened, but still a hell of a lot better than we can haha.

6. Mentality, morality: Mentally I'll just talk about the one thing, and that's his, only having one mate for his entire life. It is impossible for him to take on another partner, even in heat (which I'll write about later) he will still seek her out and no one else. Also, despite being part solitary animal, he is also part pack animal, so he does have a small desire to be part of a small pack.

Morality: This is something I'm still working out (trying to put together human and animal moral), but pretty much, if he feels like some one a threat to his family, he will attack (with a warning first of course) and if one does not back down, he will kill them and not think much of it. Pretty much just "Ok, threat is gone. Everything is fine now"

7. Culture: This is better written out later but their culture is greatly different than ours, too much to get into now at the moment.

8. Attitude: He is pretty much an animal being in a humanoid body, he has habits that his species would have, his personality has some traits of the animals he has in him, even when they clash (which is why he can be considered to be short tempered): Shy, and non confrontational from his maned wolf side, aggressive, protective, and powerful from his tundra wolf side



Humans in their world:

Being called a human is actually kind of an insult in their world as there is a strong prejudice against them. They are pretty rare in his world and are thought to be endangered, mainly because they are considered too pathetic to take care of themselves.


I hope this didn't come off as mean or anything, I just really wanted to do a correction type journal and hopefully show how frustrating it can be when you put a lot of thought, heart, and love into something and people just look at the surface. If you guys have any questions, discussions of your own pet peeves when it comes to your characters, feel free to comment here ^^ I'd love to hear from ya

Hey all! So lately I have been debating on how I want to do my comic, "Dissociative" Because I found a few... peresonal faults when it comes to my art work and seeing as this comic is my baby, I want to give it the best of what I can do.

For example, my detail and inking is a LOT stronger traditionally, yet my coloring tends to be much much stronger digitally (shading I'm better at traditionally but I think I'm ok digitally) So I had the idea to ink the comic traditionally and do the rest digitally. I would reeeeally love your input on this, to make sure it looks it's best.

I WILL be uploading the first page to my mini adult comic "Spring Fever" today, and it is being done with traditional ink and digital coloring. Please feel free to tell me how you feel about it, and be honest!

Eventually I will be uploading a side by side comparison so you can really get a good feel of it.


Personal input:

I like the clean-ness of digital but I feel that, with this comic, it shouldn't be clean, it is a heavy story and quite serious, so I think the lines should reflect that. I like the graininess of the lines, it feels more like a traditional styles comic that you would find in most comic books.


Other:

I kind of want to play around with Kezhon's mentality... I have him with Dissociative Identity Disorder but I kind of want to keep it up to question if it is DID or a severe form of Schizophrenia where he believes he is becoming different people, his alters are of course, broken fragments of his personality, all of which are trying to force him to acknowledge all the pain in trauma he's had in his life so that he can face them and actually start to heal. zhe does hallucinate and hear them, which... can happen on SOME, repeat, SOME occasions in DID. Hmmm... either way it's going to be slightly exaggerated for the sake of the story but, let me know what you think.

Hey all! So yeah, I fell off the radar again. And decided to pop on to give another update!

New Plan:

So I decided that instead of art school I would go for child development. I have someone helping me out with my comic and I have been pretty good with exploring and improving on my own so I decided that I'd save some money and work towards another goal. Which is a job I will actually like. I love kids and have always been good with them so I decided that would be a good option. Not to mention everywhere has kids so it'd be a little easier getting work and work I'll actually enjoy. Half the reason I have been so slow lately is because I am just so miserable. I f-ing hate this job, I feel so under inspired and it's hard to gain any motivation any more. So yeah, that's what's happening there. *Go for a job I actually like, and improve my mood so I can do arts ^^*

Update:

Another reason why I have been so slow lately is because I had no vitamin D, I started taking the vitamin and it has been helping a lot but I'm still a little sluggish.

I have some news though! I am still working on my adult comic, I slacked off a bit because again, just no drive. But I'm going to try and pop back into that.

I am also working on redoing *again* Dissociative. I won't be posting any of it until I get at least 20 or more pages, or at least past the point where we left off. I have someone helping me out so it should DEFINITELY be a lot better than before! I'm rewriting somethings, fixing the layout, and even changing around some stuff, so it will be pretty much new! The process will be a lot slower than before *haha* because I am taking it a lot slower to make sure every thing is just right and I'm not forced to redo it once again!

World of Warcraft:

Not much to say here except that I just started XD Yay! Only took me 10 years!

Let's talk about some dicks! ...as well as some other stuff, but there is dicks involved down the road .3. *Well I just made things awkward...* Anywhoo, this is pretty much just some design and world stuff I wanted to discuss with some people to get a clear idea of what is a good direction to go in.

Kezhon and the people in his world are supposed to be a kind of hyper evolved animal race, some are full anthros, some are more human looking like my guys and all those in between. And I really want to work with giving them animal attributes so they aren't just.... human's with animal parts. I have been working on things like their culture and belief system, things like:

1. They do have religion, a belief in God but their religious practices tend to gravitate towards more naturalistic practices almost pagan. They do have Christianity and our types of religions, because humans that have found their way into their world have brought their beliefs with them and some beings of the world have adopted them, even our holidays because they found them fascinating.

2. Nudity is pretty well accepted. Like females can go jogging with out a shirt, it's not really seen as odd in their society nor is it shunned. The standard rule of no shirt, no service applies though because come on, who wants to stare at someone's nipples while they are eating? I know I don't! ...Maybe there are people out there who do but... that's your business... weirdo...

3. This idea comes from an OC question I answered once of, "Would your character kill someone?" And thinking about it, yes, Kezhon would kill someone, and he would do it in his sane of mind. He'd do it if he felt he or a loved one was threatened, or if you did attack someone he cared about. He may be more maned wolf in his genetics meaning he is a loner, but he is also part tundra wolf so he does have a desire to be part of a *small mind you* pack and protect it as the alpha. *More info about this will be added later to my info dropbox later* So yeah, if he feels he has to, he would kill someone, and feel it completely justified. *I'm still working out the laws regarding this*

4. Marriage, this one I think will be fun to work on, a fun fact is, marriage is more important to polygamous who decide to enter into a monogamous type union and semi-monogamous. Marriage makes no sense to strict monogamous like Kezhon because they are already bound to their partners for life, why do they need a ring or a ceremony to confirm it? They find it tedious, they do have celebrations where the new partner is welcomed to the family though.

I'm going to end those there because there is a LOT of information to put in and this journal would be stupidly long if I put it all down but you get the jist right?

Anyway, along with culture and beliefs I wanted to toy with some design stuff. It's not going to be major complete redesigns, just a few upgrades and add ones to make them seem a little less human ya?

And here is where dicks come in, I once got a commission that delt with gender bending. Kezhon was female and O'neice was male. And the artist actually did something really neat with it and gave O'neice barbs: (NSFW) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14040693/ this made me thing, you know, O'neice is a cat, it would make perfect sense for the males to have barbs even if they were more humanoid. And it makes them more distinct and interesting. This lead me to think about Kezhon's bits. ...he is a canine, so maybe he can kind of have a knot type thing going on? It'll probably look completely human while flaccid but will of course be more noticeable when erect. It's not going to be exactly like a canines of course but a kind of mix. I do have a few designs worked out for it that I'm rather fond of. If you wish to see them, let me know and I'll show them ^^


More hybrid?

Along with showing them as being more than human with animal parts, I also want to show more of their hybrid sides.

Ravenna: Tundra wolf, Rabbit
Kezhon: Tundra wolf, Maned wolf, human *rare*
Liam (is actually just a mix): Arctic and Red fox

Nothing too major though. A few physical things as well as mental and health.

Ps. Poe... your story is more serious, about things like abuse, mental disorders etc etc. How come it takes place in this kind of world where something like fantasy would make more sense?

Well for one thing, each animal means something. Ravenna for one, is in a situation where she doesn't know how to feel or handle things. She is an odd mix of rabbit and a wolf,meaning she can be either skittish or aggressive, run from a situation or confront it. I feel like it best represents her position in all this. Kezhon is also a mix of a gentle and an aggressive species. His overall personality is gentle and shy. However he can hit severe extremes of emotion, making him generally unpredictable.

And two, I feel like the story taking place in this kind of world shows that these kinds of things can happen anywhere, in even the most unlikely of places. Make sense?
