Badge Commissions Are A Go!
Posted 10 years agoFinished up my current badge queue before Christmas so now I've got a clean plate for the holidays. It's nice to be able to take a bit of a break before real-life things get crazy again in the new year.
I am still open for badge commissions! You can see an example of my work here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18571676/
Badges are $30, which includes lamination, clip, and shipping. Payment must be upfront and paid through PayPal.
Merry Christmas everyone!!! :)

Update!
Posted 10 years agoSurprise! I'm not dead! :D I've just been taking a bit of a hiatus. But I'm poking my head in to say hi and give a brief little update on what's going on. Hubs and I went to our first furmeet this weekend and it was AWESOME. I don't think either of us was prepared for how much fun it would be. It was great to hang out with folks and it kinda gave me back some of my enthusiasm for making art, which has kinda been lacking lately. :P
THAT SAID, with my newfound art muse I'm thinking about opening for a very limited number of badge or icon commissions for folks. Would anyone be interested? :) If I get any nibbles I'll post another journal with more information.
It's good to be back :D

Placeholder Journal
Posted 11 years agoI'm horrible at updating my journal. Everything I write usually goes out of date pretty quickly, and I just don't remember to write something new every so often. I dunno.... I'm lazy. :P
Anyway. I'm still alive, I'm still drawing, and God willing I maaaaaaaaaaay be becoming more active in the near future... we'll see. Stay tuned! :P

Apologies for the lack of uploads. I'm alive, I'm just VERY busy at the moment. This wedding won't plan itself!

Personality Test
Posted 14 years agoSoooooo, I've seen this around in a couple of places and I love personality tests, sooooo yeah. I took it. It's pretty accurate. You can find it at http://www.signalpatterns.com/psych_central/ to take for yourself. Only takes like 10 minutes and it gives you a cool pie-chart breakdown of your personality afterwards, so it's cool :)
Anyway, on to the results!
Your Results You are Scrupulous, Responsible, and Organized.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Responsible
You fulfill your obligations and responsibilities, are true to your word, and generally obey the rules. While the majority of those who have a high score on the "responsible" trait enjoy traveling, they are usually very happy to return home — and don’t mind staying put for a while.
You're opposed to making hasty decisions, you don't insist that you're above the rules, nor do you feel compelled to color outside the lines.
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Competent
You strive to master everything you undertake. You tend to learn quickly and do not shy away from challenges.
You are not a "que sera sera" type of person, nor do you go easy on yourself when attempting to master a new skill or get a job done.
Warm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Upbeat
You enjoy being around others and others enjoy being around you. You have a "live and let live" attitude; because you know that no one's perfect, you are forgiving and happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
You don't feel the need to be controversial or express contrary opinions all the time. You see no reason to go around rubbing people the wrong way.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
Sympathetic
You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.
Anyway, on to the results!

Commissions fully OPEN! And, FREE ART!
Posted 14 years agoOkay, so. I decided to ditch the headshot/icon idea and just open up for full commissions. No one seemed interested in the headshots, so I figured I might as well dump my headshot-only sale in favor of just doing everything. x3 Commission information is as follows, and you can feel free to contact me with questions or to reserve a slot. I'll open up 5 slots for now, but...
I have a special surprise! (drumroll please) I am starting a referral rewards program! I am looking for more watchers (and thus more commissioners) so I want all of YOU guys to help me out, and I will reward you with free arts!
Here's how it works:
1. You tell people about me and my art.
2. If someone you referred to me commissions me, when I receive their payment I will also give YOU a free digital sketch or icon of your character of choice!
All the commissioner has to do is mention that you were the one who referred them to me, and I'll be in touch with you once payment is received to ask you what you want for your free picture!
Nothing like free art, huh? This program starts NOW, so go go go! Get those fingers typing! :)

Headshot Commissions Now Open!
Posted 14 years agoI've decided to open for a few headshot commissions for some extra cash and to try to get back into the swing of doing commissions. I'm not going to go all-out for full-body commissions yet, but consider this a small step toward that ultimate goal. :P Anyway, I'm only going to take 5 of these right now to gauge the amount of interest is out there. Depending on how quickly these fill up and if enough people respond, I might take more, but we'll see how it goes.
Anyway, on to the Prices!
Rough sketch: $3 [Example]
Refined/inked sketch: $5 [Example] [Another Example]
Full-color: $10 [Example]

Merry Christmas!
Posted 15 years agoMerry Christmas, everyone! I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday. As for me, I'm home visiting family until Sunday. It has been great getting to spend Christmas at home after having missed it last year. We're even going to have a real white Christmas, after about 6 years of not having one! But alas, I'm heading back to Florida Sunday, and I have to return to work on Monday (ugh, don't want to think about that), but it's been a great vacation. I miss Indiana.
Anyway, everyone, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you may celebrate) and Happy New Year!

Hooray Placeholder Journal!
Posted 15 years agoI don't really have anything to say, I just wanted something on my page to take up space that isn't horribly outdated. :P
That said... I've really been getting into WoW lately. Anyone else on Silver Hand or Wyrmwrest Accord? Alliance all the way, baby. :P

I'm BACK! ....Sort of?
Posted 15 years agoSo there's good news and bad news. I'll lay it all down straight for you so no one's confused.
Good news first! My computer is running again!
But now the bad-ish news.
So here's the dizzle. My friend Mark fixed my computer after much trial and error, during which we discovered it wasn't a hardware error after all, it was just Windows being a witch. Windows absolutely refused to install back onto the hard drive, so to make absolutely sure that my computer didn't have a hardware issue, he installed Ubuntu. It went off without a hitch. And with his (and Whirlbat's) help, we've managed to get my tablet working with Linux (it wasn't easy) so theoretically I should be able to go back to arting post-haste, right? Does that mean Poim's finally back to FA so she can get back to procrastinating?
...SORTA! Because my computer is not only old but it is very pathetic, hardware-wise. It was slow before Windows jizzed all over itself, and now it's worse. When I try to draw a nice curvy line with my tablet, instead of a smooth path I get some sort of gross polygonal shape that I have to erase and go back to do over again. And then it happens over and over, making the whole process very frustrating. If I wanted to draw with straight lines I'd use the line tool or maybe a ruler like I used to when I was, like, 8. >.>
So bottom line is, I'm using Whirlbat's computer. It's not a convenient arrangement in the least, but at least his works a whole heckuva lot better than mine does. Smooth lines ftw!
So yes, I am coming back to FA. But not nearly as frequently as I was before, and until I get the computer situation sorted out (I'm considering buying a new one with all the fat paychecks I'm getting from my new job) arts will be slow. Sorry, guys! And a special thank you to the people whom I owe art. You guys have been so patient, you're the best. <3
Time to work on commishkins nao. Bbl lulz.

Computer STILL Down.
Posted 15 years agoYep. My computer, which broke over a month ago, is still out of commission. My only option now is to use whirlbat's computer until either my friend Mark fixes mine or I save up the money to buy a new one. So thank you for your patience, aurasoul, and thank you to the rest of my watchers, as well, for sticking with me during this dry art spell. My apologies and I hope to have the situation resolved soon!
Computer Down. :(
Posted 15 years agoYep. My computer is currently down until
and I get the problem figured out. Until then... I have no internet, no instant messenger, no watching
stream (!!!!), and, worst of all, no way to work on commissions. :/ Sorry, AuraSoul. Once my PC is back up and running I'll haul tail to get your things done, I promise. You've waited long enough. >.<
If it should happen that I lose any data on my computer, I'm going to be in a very sad state indeed. I have a lot of stuff on there that are not backed up... like commissions. Here's hoping that that I don't lose everything. v_v

Cons and Chillout Music
Posted 15 years agoThanks to
spottyjaguar I've gotten myself hooked on Trentemoller, which is really awesome chill-trance-techno that's just awesome. I'm a big fan of techno music but up until recently I never discovered or realized how perfect it is for rousing my muse into action. I've stuck with mostly the fast rave stuff for the most part, but now that I have Trentemoller I've dedicated an entire station to them on Pandora. Anyone else out there have any suggestions for similar music?
Also, Megaplex! Who's going? I'd like to, but I've never been to a con before and I'm kind of at a loss for what you actually... DO... at them. I know there are dances and fursuit games and such, but what activities are there for the people who can't afford to drop that kind of dough on a good suit or lack the skill/sewing expertise to make their own?
Just wonderin'. :)
Now, back to working on commissions and long-overdue arts! One of these days, I'll be caught up... one of these days.
Also... Woohoo! Broke the 200 watchers mark! Cake and starfruit for everyone!

I'd rather be streaming...
Posted 15 years agoToday seems like the perfect kind of day to settle down and do some live streaming as I work on commissions like
spottyjaguar and others I watch do. But no, I had to be saddled with a computer that runs too slowly to stream AND run openCanvas. I've done a disk defragment, I've done disk cleanup, and I've installed whatever unnecessary programs I don't foresee my using anytime soon.
whirlbat suggested I start getting rid of some of the (several) unnecessary processes running on my computer, which is a good idea but at the moment I'm too lazy to go through all 43-odd things eating up my memory.
Anyone else out there have any other ideas that I can use to get my computer running faster? It's a Dell, a few years old, (the exact number I'm not sure), and has 512 MB of ram and like 33 gigs of hard drive space.

Good news! Now Accepting Commissions!
Posted 15 years agoAlright, folks, the time has finally come! I am opening myself up to commissions! (*cheers!*)
In light of recent developments at work (none of which are my fault, I might add- our scheduler is an idiot), I have found myself cut down from nearly full-time to about 25 hours a week, which is decidedly not enough. I have also whittled away at my commission/gift list to a point where I feel it's reasonable. However, until I get my two big projects from Whirlbat and Anbessa done, I will only be accepting a small number of commissions at a time.
Pricing Information:
Icons: (Example) $3.00
Flatcolor Body Meme: (Example) $5.00 [Add shading for $2]
Single Character:
____Sketch: (Example) $5.00
____Shaded: (Example) $6.00
____Colored in Grayscale (in the color of your choice): (Example) $7.00
____Flat Color: (Example) $9.00
____Full color with shading: $10.00
Add one Character for $3.00
Add simple background for $5.00
Because I no longer have access to a scanner, until further notice all commissions will be in digital form. And if you have something in mind that you would like me to do that is not on this list, send me a note or comment on this journal. I am very flexible and willing to work with you!
Fine Print: You must have at least one reference picture and/or a detailed character description. Payment is due upon completion.

NijuBluPoim's Triumphant Return...?
Posted 15 years agoHello loyal watchers! It is I, the Poim, returning at long last from an unexpected and unnanounced hiatus.
I sort of fell off of the face of the earth there, guys, and I apologize. I haven't been doing much in the way of art lately, and that's a shame. It's been hard getting creatively motivated for a long time, but something has finally happened that I sincerely hope will kickstart my butt back into art-action. For I have purchased... a TABLET!
After literal YEARS of wanting one, and after months of salivating over the Wacom Bamboo upon
sulacoyote's glowing review of it, I finally gathered the resources and the motivation to buy one. It arrived in the mail this past Friday, though I'm afraid I had very little time over the weekend to play with it.
Again, I'm hoping that this will signal a return of Poim-artz to FurAffinity. First on my priority list will be finishing commissions and those free sketches I promised to several of you on my 100-watchers anniversary. :P
Here's hoping!

aheriaCharacter Meme
Posted 16 years agoYeah, I know, long time no see, right? Well, I've been around. Starting a new life in a new state away from everyone you know (minus one person) has been quite a ride. Things aren't quite finished for me yet, either. I still have a ways to go before I can really settle down.
I haven't been drawing much lately, but if/when I scan something I don't hate, I'll share it with y'all. :P In the meantime, enjoy this meme-thing that
whirlbat tagged me in.
Rules:
1. Choose a few of your own characters.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag four people.
-
The characters I choose are:
1. Vagus
2. Jikininki Akeldama
3. Gabriel Renard Carver
Who/What are you?
Vagus: Pure awesome.
Jikininki: The governor of the city of Paradise, located on Exile Island.
Gabriel: I am an abomination to furre-kind, rejected by society and ridiculed by my family. I am a dark-arts-practicing vampire who sold my soul to the sake of evil.
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Vagus: No surviving ones. >)
Jikininki: A half-brother, unfortunately...
Gabriel: An air-headed disappointment of a sister.
What's your height?
Vagus: 7'10"
Jikininki: Irrelevant.
Gabriel: Tall enough.
How old are you?
Vagus: I am ageless.
Jikininki: Old enough to be bored by all these trivial questions. There's work I should be doing instead.
Gabriel: I've been on this earth for about 20 years, but I'll be walking it for eternity.
Who's your mate/spouse?
Vagus: Ieros would be if he knew what was good for him.
Jikininki: None, and no current prospects now, thanks to Mary. B****.
Gabriel: Even if I were to have a significant other, she couldn't look into my eyes without losing her soul...
Do you have any kids?
Vagus: HA! Like I would let any of my spawn survive.
Jikininki: One of my ex's has one on the way...
Gabriel: No. That would be a very bad idea.
Have you ever killed anyone?
Vagus: That's a stupid question.
Jikininki: When necessary.
Gabriel: I try not to, but sometimes it's unavoidable. People need to learn to leave well enough alone.
Do you hate anyone?
Vagus: Paul Alkatraz. Nil. F-ing Saroe.
Jikininki: My brother. Most of the world. Mary.
Gabriel: None specifically. I generally don't get along with anyone.
Do you love anyone?
Vagus: Love? No. Have an overwhelming desire to shackle someone and do dirty, bloody things to them in a passionate way? Yes.
Jikininki: I thought I did. But then I discovered that the person I loved didn't really exist.
Gabriel: I'm not answering that question.
What is your job?
Vagus: Whatever it is I want to do, gosh!
Jikininki: ...As I said before, I'm the governor of the city of Paradise. Get on with it already.
Gabriel: Summoning ancient maledikt lords, freaking out my family... you name it.
What do you do to relax?
Vagus: Ieros. >D
Jikininki: Work.
Gabriel: Swimming in the arctic ocean.
Let's say there's a person you really care about but she/he doesn't know your feelings. How do you tell her/him?
Vagus: I chain him up and beat the snot out of him with a whip made of the innards of children. <3
Jikininki: I'm not going to dignify this question with an answer.
Gabriel: I don't tell them. Romance is not an option for me.
What kind of powers do you have?
Vagus: Being drop dead gorgeous. Impenetrable skin. The ability to make one's blood boil, stop, run cold, or explode. Extraordinary sense of hearing.
Jikininki: I'm an electricity elemental, also trained in the art of telekinesis.
Gabriel: Just what I need to survive, and nothing you need concern yourself with.
What’s your favorite color?
Vagus: Blood, blood red.
Jikininki: Grey.
Gabriel: Pitch black. It's comforting.
What do you do before you go to sleep at night?
Vagus: Watch recordings of my favorite torture sessions.
Jikininki: Go over in my mind what tasks need completed tomorrow.
Gabriel: Bar all the doors and windows, and do a nightly ritual of protection.
Do you know the other characters in this questionnaire?
Vagus: Jikininki is an ignorable commoner. And Gabriel was the one who summoned me - and I am immensely grateful to him for calling me up from the underworld.
Jikininki: I try to avoid Vagus when I can. Gabe is my ex-wife's son from another man. I have disowned him.
Gabriel: Jikininki is my mother's ex-husband, her second lover after she split from my father. And then she left him for her first lover after my father... she's a loose woman, my mother.
-
What do you think of the person that tagged you?
Whirlbat is my best friend in the world and the man of my dreams.

Erm... kay. Quick Update!
Posted 16 years agoOkay, so. I moved to Florida! ...a month ago. Annnd my computer is broken, but it didn't work with the scanner I have access to anyway! So... yeah. I won't have much by way of new art except for when I drive 2+ hours to Orlando to visit my boyfriend on the occasional weekend and use his computer with his roommate's scanner. xD
I will keep working on what I was commissioned/asked/volunteered to do, it will just come at a much slower rate. x_x
Sorry, guys! Thanks for your patience!
