Pokmeon Sun/Moon and the effects in the PCA
Posted 9 years agoNew elements brought in by the up coming Pokemon games will officially be allowed once the game has come out and we have a full understanding of what everything is. So new forms of established pokemon will be allowed once that game is out and we know what all the new forms are.
I would say, since the new forms is really region specific, students who are the new forms would probably be considered exchange students from that region to the PCA.

Event Challenge #1 is UP and NEW Sun/Moon Pokemon
Posted 9 years agoOk folks, the first official challenge is up and running as we take a step at creating our joint shared universe.
Also, the official starters and series legendaries for Pokemon Sun and Moon have been revealed and I know there are people dying to make students of them. As for the Starters, We'll give the green light on them, however (obviously), until an official move list has be revealed for them, they can not officially have PCA stats attributed to them and they (for now) will be automatically submitted as incoming Freshmen.
As for the Legendaries, there will be a temporary hold on allowing them to be used as students (as we have no idea what they even actually are supposed to be or do).

PCA EVENT #0: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL SELFIE
Posted 10 years agoStudents have arrived at the PCA and are waiting to register for the year's classes. They have found friends, roommates, and potential team mates and as teenagers are want to do, they take a moment to take a Selfie to commemorate the moment.
Artist: Draw your teams taking a selfie, and identify who they are and what their team names are. (This will be used as a way to make a sort of data base of team names, and to familiarize people with your characters).
Writers: Write a short story telling of your team's first day experience of waiting in line to register. Also indentify their names, what type of pokemon they are, and what their team name may happen to be.
Event will last one month: 3/10/16

PCA MEMBER ACTIVITY (Post links to your work here)
Posted 10 years agoSchool Is Open For Business (New PCA GUIDELINES)
Posted 10 years agoPoke Combat Academy Character Creation:
- Participates in the PCA may select from the (currently) 721 Pokemon found in the pokedex to create a character with the exceptions of Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. These four Pokemon will be NPCs (None playable characters) within the PCA universe and will be considered singular in representation. It has also been requested that people with Celebi characters put a cap limit on the student’s ability to ‘time travel’ to minutes, hours at best, and not days or decades. (Just know the 4 NPC Pokemon mentioned previously will be keeping a very close eye on students who try to violate the laws of Time and Space.)
- All characters created are to be considered High School Students of a private boarding school like environment where they are housed on a campus with dorm living.
A. Students will share dorm rooms that consist of 2 bed rooms [which have 3 level bunk beds in each (which are separatable, but room dimensions may limit how the beds can be placed within the confines of the room), 2 work desks, wall cabinets and dressers, dress mirror, and a closet], a common/living room, a toilet w/sink, and a small eating ear with a refrigerator and sink. There are no stoves in the dorm rooms, for insurance purposes, and most of the hot meal eating will take place within the campus cafeteria, which is open 3 times a day for main meals, with a school store for snacks and cold food eating.
B. A dorm room may have a max of 6 occupants, but no less than 3. The dorms are NOT co-ed. There are 3 types of dorms, Males, females, and unassigned (who have an option of choosing to stay in either 3). Each Dorm will have a Dorm Master and R.A.s (who would be college level students working a work study).
C. Each dorm has a common shower area, laundry area (with workers who will aid in the washing of clothes), and a common social area, with TVs, games, and furniture for students to gather for interaction.
D. There is a central campus law enforcement that patrols and protects the students 24/7. They are also on guard for wayward students who try to break curfew in areas they aren’t supposed to be in or at.
- Created characters are to be assigned a Grade Level (this may influence the type of pokemon they happen to be while at a grade level if they are a Pokemon with a natural evolution process, but does not exclusively have to be the case. Ex. Charizard line may start out school as a charmander and progressively advance throughout the evolution chain as they get older and move from grade to grade). The Grade Levels offered by the PCA are, FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, and SENIOR.
- Students are expected to attend classes. The PCA is considered the top school in the region and thus attracts the top students in the respective Types. A class day consists of 7 individual classes that would last from 8am to 4pm. Each class lasts 55minutes in length with 5 minutes to move from one class to the next and a one hour lunch period. Participants are to create/consider making a schedule for their characters created from the list of teachers shown in the PCA gallery. (Teachers in the PCA gallery are also considered to be NPC characters who have been given permission to be used in stories for individual people’s plots. Just give proper credit where due when using them, of course.) Please do not create NEW TEACHERS. If there are positions for teachers that have not been filled, a character may be submitted for a public vote to add that character to the Staff roster. If the character receives more YAY votes than NAY the character will be added. A student’s study can be broad from Professional Battling, Contest, and standard academic study found in the real world.
- LINK to Staff Members: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/.....combatacademy/
- When the school day is over students may use their free time as they see fit and appropriate. It’s not uncommon that some students may bet off campus jobs (like at McPoffins), or go and visit off site locations by way of campus shuttles. However, students do have a curfew and are expected to be back on campus by no later than 9pm for students of the level of Freshmen to Junior and 11pm for Seniors.
- Character’s moves and abilities will be determined by theirs species Pokedex move available lists. They will have access to their Natural move list by way of leveling, available TM/HM availability, Tutoring availability, and Special Event/Egg.
A. Each character may only be assigned 4 moves PER school Year, but retain the knowledge and usage of the moves they learned during the previous years. By Senior year a character will have a total of 16 available moves they can us at any time during combat.
B. Game LEVEL moves will be restricted to the year the student may happen to be in with a max move level of 72. All teachers and adults are to be considered to be levels 80 and higher.
1. FRESHMEN- will have access to moves from their pokedex entry between Level1 – 18.
2. SOPHMORES – Will have access to moves from their pokedex entry between Levels 19 – 36.
3. JUNIORS – Will have access to moves from their pokedex entry between Levels 37- 54
4. SENIORS – Will have access to moves from their pokedex entry between Levels 55-72.
C. TM/HMs are to be considered class taught moves. IF it’s a move that they can learn that they would naturally learn at a higher level than they currently are considered to be at, they are to be considered a novice at using that move since they are acquiring it ahead of when they should naturally be able to do it. (EX. A Freshmen Pikachu learning Thunder (a lv 50 move) by way of TM would not be as effective using that move as a Freshmen rather than waiting to natural have access to it as a Junior. It’s to be considered the student’s body hasn’t developed fast enough to fully handle the power produced by the move). Choose these moves wisely though. Front loading your character with TM/HMs may actually make them less effective in a battle because they will not be expert level at any of them, making them unreliable and unpredictable in effectiveness. Suggestion would be to select one of these types of moves per year, but will ultimately leave it up to the creator.
D. Tutoring Moves are also considered in class taught moves (and should be reflected upon by the schedule the student has. A teacher of the move’s type should be on the roster of the student learning the move. Unlike leveling movies, Tutor Moves are to be considered effectively learned and used at a close to expert level (They are kids afterall). But, no draw backs from learning a move as they aren’t considered level required.
E. Special Event/Egg Moves. These moves are to be considered specially born with. This makes the Pokemon ‘unique’ from your standard Pokemon since some of the moves gained are not ‘normal’ moves the pokemon would purely have. These moves are considered to be expert level used since they have had them all their lives and are considered automatically listed as one of the four Freshmen level moves, leaving 3 slots open.
- FAMILIES/BREEDING. When creating a character, student parents may be of similar pokemon pairs, or bred from any of the combinations found in a pokemon’s Egg group for breeding. The Breeding pair’s offspring may visually be either of the parent’s species, though special movies will come from the Father’s line if they posses an egg move. Offspring may have some characteristics visually of it’s non-typed parent (like slight color changes), but try to stick with game/anime official color schemes (Just because a Pikachu can breed with a Luxray, let’s not have blue pikachus). Some Pokemon have color schemes beyond the standard and shiny due to various other games (Like Smash), those are allowed as well. Finally, Albinoism is also allowed because it’s a phenomena that happens in the real world in animals and people, just make sure the standard white with red eyes is still a thing to show it is albino. Characters DO NOT gain extra appendages due to mix breeding (You will not gain wings or an extra set of arms because one of your parents had them). The Offspring will visually look like one of the species of one of the two parents as it’s base visual design. Pokemon who DO NOT have a GENDER may only breed with pokemon of their like. Voltorbs can only bread with Voltorbs for example. This includes Legendary Pokemon who do not have breeds EXCEPT FOR Mew + Mewtwo and Latios and Latias, who will follow the “offspring being one of the two parent’s offspring”. This is because it’s strongly implied that Mewtwo is just a genetically altered Mew, thus making it basically the same species . It has been shown that there have been multiple Latios and Latias in the anime of various ages, however, male offspring must be Latios and female offspring must be Latias. Nidoqueen can breed with Nidokings. Kangaskhan is still a female only species with no known male counterpart, so it’s assumed its mates are exclusively Dittos.
- EVOLUTIONS:
1. Natural Evolution will occur from gained experience in competition with a strong emotional reaction being the trigger.
2. Stone/Held item Evolutions will occur from physical contact with the stone and a mental willingness by the pokemon to evolve (Not just an automatic touching of the stone. They have to accept the change).
3. Environmental Condition evolutions may take place when the conditions for that environment is met (Like Time of day evolutions, or weather condition).
4. Friendship and Trade evolutions will occur due to emotional connection with another that triggers a strong reaction and willingness to change.
5. Evolutions can be stopped with Everstones, which are usually fashioned as jewelry and worn by the Pokemon, wants to guarantee non-accidental evolution. A Pokemon can also stop their own evolution with focus and concentration, but will always have the potential for evolving afterwards.
6. Ritual Evolution (AKA The Shedinja question). When a Nincada is ready to evolve it must perform a right of evolution ritual to represent it’s coming into maturity. It must perform this ritual alone and must be holding a Pokeball. When it feels it’s energies are high enough to evolve, it must mentally accept this change, which will trigger it’s evolution. The parts of the energy cast off by the change will be siphoned into the pokeball. After it’s change into a Ninjask is complete, it may open the pokeball and a newly formed Shedinja will appear from it.
7. A Mantyke will only evolve if it has a Remoraid helping. There does not need to be a romantic or personal connection between the two (It could be a friend, or a trained evolution professional). Pancham must also meet a similar condition, where it must have a Dark-Type of some kind around to help it evolve.
8. MEGAEVOLUTION: More of a temporary metamorphosis than a true evolution, this is a state of being where the student is hyper charged by the combination of a Mega Stone and strong emotional reaction. Then physical change alter their body and gives them higher power level, but only temporarily, because the change can also alter their psychological state, make them more aggressive, and is very taxing on the body physically because it’s drawing more energy and power output from the student’s body than it normal produces. It is strongly encouraged that students do not abuse this state of being because it could have long lasting effects on them mentally and psychologically. Think of it like taking a performance enhancer that has short term benefit, but could have long term consequences if abused. To try to cut down on the abuse of such items, Mega Stones are very VERY expensive and must be mined and crafted into wearable jewelry made in pairs, A Mega Stone and A Key Stone. These are usually gifted to those in intimate relationships as the emotional energy of two is required for the evolution to work properly (Popular as a wedding/engagement gift).
- TEAM BUILDING:
1. Students will compete in classes on teams of a roster of 6 max and a minimum of 4. Teammates are not expected to live together on campus in the dorms (in some causes this is not possible depending on their genders). Test Battles may have the following pairings: 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, or 4 on 4. Any additional team members will be considered in reserve and sit on the sidelines in support or in wait to replace an active teammate on the field (Swap out). Full roster battles (where all 6 members would participate) would only happen during the 4 on 4 battles, where 4 members are active on the field and 2 wait in reserve. 1, 2, and 3 member battles will only see those number of teammates participate until the battle’s conclusion with the others sidelined in support.
2. A student MAY be a solo independent, BUT this puts that individual at a dramatic disadvantage on test. It is strongly encouraged by staff that an independent student find some other students to pair up with for battle exams, as they are something that is in the curriculum and must be passed. It’s very possible that a solo student may have to participate in a 4 on 4, where it would literally be 1 vs. an entire team. The encouragement of teams is to foster social skills and learn cooperation skills.
3. Teams are to register with the Administration officer with their chosen team names and team roster. (Rosters can fluctuate as students come and go to the school, or members decide to join or leave a team.
4. Teams may be mixed in types, gender, ages, and grade levels. However, lower grade level students do not get an artificial boost just because they are on a team of Seniors. They would still fight at their age/grade levels.
5. Teams are also encouraged to try to make some sort of unified look to uniforms when in competition. While this is not a rule it is encouraged.
COMMUNITY NOTES:
- The PCA is a community built out of a number of people from different genders, ages, ethnicities, nationalities, and cultures. It’s strongly encouraged that people learn how to relate to someone different from themselves, with differing ideas and beliefs. It is encouraged that problems between members, be it on creative or personal disagreements, be handled in a mature and adult fashion with direct communication with the offending party be made first, before attempting to seek out a third party mediator. It is expected that individuals will take the guidelines set up for the PCA and interpret them in ways that are unique and individual to that specific creator. There should be no expectations for third-party control over an individual’s creative output for PCA related content. Material that falls well outside the core set up for the PCA will be encouraged to become more in line with the guidelines previously established, but your slice of the PCA is your own and there is no obligation from the community as a whole to accept your slice as official ‘canon’. Members may attempt to gain support for their ideas by way of their works, but they cannot force those ideas on others. There is a possibility that others will completely ignore what you are doing. or that you may have a small core group, from the whole, that follows along.
- Places and locations created by individual creators outside the area of the school itself are considered the rights of that creator. If you choose to use similar locations, first ask for permission from the creator and then give them credit. Outside PCA locations will only be considered ‘canon’ if a large enough number of people are also using it for their own stories. (EX: A common Shopping mall location. A food hangout spot. Etc).
- The only singular group Canon situations will be school only related events announced by the PCA account. Ex: Announcement of MidTerms. Announcement of a Home Coming game and dance. Each person considering themselves a ‘member’ of the PCA is expected to do something with their characters that acknowledges their character’(s) awareness of said event. This can be done either illustratively, or in writing. Otherwise, PCA members will be left to their own creative endeavors.
- The only requirements to “JOIN” the PCA is to create characters either in illustration or written story, submitting it in your gallery with “PCA” in the title and in the submission tags, and posting a link to said material in a special PCA journal titled “PCA MEMBER ACTIVITY”. Just post the link in the reply section of the journal.
- PCA Battle Art & Story trades. Negotiations for trades between members will be left up to the individual members. Just know, there is no obligation by any member to trade with you as some members may only exclusively trade with people they personally know. Allow someone to politely decline your request with there being no hard feelings behind it. For one, you never know if that individual even s available to do a trade since RL issues can often take artist or writer’s time. IF you do manage to get into a trade with someone, try to do your best so that each participate feels they are getting equal quality out of the trade instead of one person phoning it home.
- ROLE PLAYING. Role-playing proved to be a very popular component in the original version of the PCA and there is certain to be a strong desire for this to be included again. However, this time, there will be no centralized RP mechanism. A special journal will be created titled PCA ROLEPLAYING Request and Scheduling! Individual members may make their request and arrange RP sessions among themselves listing time, date, and where they will take place. A theme for the RP session is also suggested so that people know what they are getting into ahead of time and they can determine if there’s an interest or not. The official PCA site does not endorse or sponsor any Role Play and the results of such sessions do not have a lasting canonical impact on the PCA as a whole.
- Person to Person Pokémon Gaming: A special Journal will be created titled “Friend Code Gaming”, where people can leave their Nintendo Friend Codes for possible person vs. person Pokémon game battling. If you’re creative, you could actually make your PCA team in your game and battle them out. Again though, arranging battles will solely be the responsibility of individual members.
