You can make it happen, it's just one click away.
General | Posted 13 years agoKickstarter, you may have heard, is a 'crowd sourcing' venue. Where anyone with an idea can make a pitch to tell people while their project is worth doing. It's a very simple and powerful way to cut past the old way of doing things. To speak straight to people who may want something and let them decide what they want.
There's only one problem: Not many people know about kickstarter.
Ironclaw is an anthropomorphic RPG setting that, when i'm not hip deep in work and two commissions (I'm still working!) I host. The creators want to continue doing what they love but not many people are eager to invest in a product filled with 'cartoon animals', intended for adult consumption. But we can change that, if enough people spread the world we can make this happen. As of this writing they have 26 days to get the funding they need:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....e-ironclaw-rpg
Whether or not you want to pledge or not, I think it'd be a good idea to spread the world about this funding drive, the more people that know the better. Kickstarter got a bit boost in visibility thanks to video game developers turning to it, but there are still a lot of people that don't know. If things like this are successful, we can rest assured that things which interest us will be more available. It's not just a pledge in the moment, it's the promise of what is to come, if the initial projects such as these are successful. So I invite you, click the link, watch the pitch video, see if you want to help them make an excellent product, either by pledging or by spreading the word.
When we rise up as one with a united voice, we can make ourselves heard. Thanks for listening, now, I'm back to my writing!

Time is coming
General | Posted 15 years agoThe skittering of hurried feet and jittering of anxious hands against freshly oiled scabbards all provide a drumbeat, a warning, a countdown.
Time is coming.
The apprentices leave their magic colleges and step boldly into the world. They will remind this age of reason why the ancient wisdom should not be ignored.
Time is coming.
The nobles plan and plot and ponder. There is a dangerous wind on the horizon, and nothing may be the same after it has blown past.
Time is coming.
From the song of the ancients, to the ears of every child. From passion to pride, from fear to hope, all reasons and all roads converge on one, undeniable, truth.
Time is coming.
My Ironclaw party is full, they have committed themselves to the adventure without hesitation. Where the road will take them, and if they return, will all depend upon their actions. Their journey is soon to begin.

General | Posted 15 years agoHey everyone!
Well I just happened to see that the person who made my icon,
neko-daewen is having a birthday drive for her boyfriend!
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3943582
To help her out, I will also be taking a limited a limited amount of 2 dollar per page commissions! Please note me if interested. :)
If I get takers, I plan to commission her with the money, like a whacky zany circle of art.

OpenOffice Problems
General | Posted 15 years agoWell I finally got sick of my new open office documents being very naughty little buggars when created in windows explorer through Windows 7.
Basically, the problem was that if I wanted a default language for my new files and I wanted to make them through the windows explorer context menu, the 'default' that openoffice uses does not apply. I went around and saw this same issue as 'solved' in open office help, and it involved creating your ideal default template and saving it as "Soffice.odt" to documents and settings/all users/templates.
All well and good, but Windows 7 was quite uninterested in my machinations. Any attempts to view or access documents and settings resulted in a denial of access, even as administrator. "For Vista, go to Users/All Users/Templates, simple!" they say! Sadly, that too is inaccessible in Windows 7.
For anyone who uses OpenOffice, or if not just so that I have a note here of what I did...this solution finally worked, make the language-set blank document, save it as Soffice.odt. Go into windows safe mode (command prompt) then use the good old 'copy' command to copy Soffice.odt from the place you saved it to "users/all users/templates". It should ask you to overwrite but, while in safe mode, NOT deny you access. The big trick here is that if you go to users/all users/templates then it will show no files. When you try to copy it however it will ask yo overwrite. Say yes and it SHOULD, rather than giving access denied if this is done from regular windows 'cmd', indicate that one file was overwritten. Did that, and I was back to normal operations in open office. Sadly this was my third attempt at solving this problem, and this time I got stubborn about it.
That meant I lost three hours trying to fix the silly problem just to create a secondary notes file for my current work. BUT, at least it's done!

Writers Meme
General | Posted 16 years agoI saw a meme on
omegawolfj's page and flew away with it! :)
~How often do you get writer’s block?
Rarely on short stories. However, for my larger works, it can happen! Mostly if I let differing potential outcomes outweigh my driving need to progress the story.
~How do you fix it?
Usually through music and study of related materials. The combination of renewed knowledge and emotional stimulus often gives me a rush of inspiration.
~Do you type or write by hand?
I am a typist.
~Do you save everything you write?
Yes, though most of the works I created in my younger life were lost in a fire. :(
~Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
Yes, and I've rewritten a few older works because of this.
~Do you have a constructive critic?
Sadly, I am not blessed with someone who would be a dedicated constructive critic to my work.
~Did you ever write a novel?
Write, no. I do have three I'm 'writing' if that's a legitimate statement for this answer, but only two have serious headway. The depth of commitment is one thing, but it's made all the worse with my constant desire to go back and change the plot because I've decided that what I've written is awful.
Though, to be fair, what I've written might BE awful! :)
~What genre would you love to write but haven’t?
Since I have not published the work yet, I can safely say slice of life literature. That, however, is changing as we speak.
~What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Non-fiction. I may write some at some point, but I can't see it.
~How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Four. A slice of life, a modern day fantasy, a pirate epic, and a children's story told in rhyme.
~Do you write for a living? Do you want to?
Not yet, but it is a life goal.
~Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Yes, but not for money! Just a favor for a friend.
~Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Not outside of academia.
~What are your five favorite words?
Passionate, Reckless, Furious, Interminable, Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.
That big one up there? For those that don't know, it means 'the fear of long words'.
'What phobia do you suffer from?' (Patient runs away screaming)
~Do you ever write based on your dreams?
Yepperoo!
~Do you favor happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I'm gong to say, historically, happy endings.
~Have you ever written based on an artwork you’ve seen?
Yes indeedy! My first time was only a few weeks ago, here.

Feature an artist:
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm running a feature an artist because EmeraldSkunk did the same for me!
[Edit] I'm ignoring rule 2 here, you don't have to feature me, but if you'd like to be seen, let me know!
Rules:
1- For each of the first 10 people commenting here I will put their avatar and three pics I like on the list.
2- If I feature you, you'll have to do the same in your journal, putting me in the first place, completing this way the list with 10 people.
The idea is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone!!
