I have no idea what OpenBSD uses, but it's not the script command as it doesn't output timing information for playback. ttyrec seems to be in OpenBSD ports though.

Someone once added Xprint support to glxgears, but removed it because trying to see how many pages you can print per second wasn't such a good idea

Few changes since that post

I have switched to Plasma 5, I also no longer have anything on my desktop other than the panels as they obscure the desktop wallpaper. I also written a custom wallpaper app that uses librsvg to render svgs as QtSVG sucks.

I use mosh over ssh when I am outside of my home network as it responds quicker over slower connections

Plasma 5 went without XEmbed support for a long while until they got xembedsniproxy working, since a few apps only supported XEmbed and not SNI, I had to switch a few apps. XEmbed now works again through xembedsniproxy, but I still stuck with the other apps as the interface seems a bit better. Some apps I switched from was Ario to Cantata (mpd frontends) and liferea to RSS Guard. Some advantages to RSS Guard was the ability to see all feeds as well as filtering rather than just search. It can also use an in memory database and shrink the sqlite database. It's also Qt based. Some advantages with Cantata include viewing the lyrics, higher res album covers, and an info page. it is also Qt based.

I now have my own email server (OpenSMTPD from the OpenBSD guys as they write pretty good code) , but I don't have IMAP or POP3 setup as I access the mbox file directly. If I want to send a quick message I usually use mailx, for reading or sending HTML mail, I use Thunderbird.

I don't have one of those calender apps with alarms in them as I just use cron with the wall command. Does what I need it to do with almost no extra overhead.

I now use mksh instead of Bash, for both my login shell and /bin/sh. it is a lot lighter and more compact while still being decently powerful.

I still use mpd for my music player, but I switched gui frontends. for videos I use either SMPlayer or plain mpv, depending on whether I want a gui or not. I used to use vlc to generate my playlist, but I now use beets for that. The reason I didn't use "ls *.ogg > playlist.m3u" is because it's sorted by artist, album, and track number, which ls can't do.

I tend to switch between Neovim and Kate as my text editor

I use OpenNTPD instead of the official NTP daemon, mainly because I've seen several security issues with the official NTP implementation in the past and lack of resources, switching to OpenNTPD was one solution.

My server uses LibreSSL instead of OpenSSL when possible and feasible for obvious reasons.
