So hey. I haven't been posting much, and not just because I had no computer for a month. But I do have things I want to post, especially since it's Multi May. I'd better get on that.

WolfieCanem has a muscular vixen up for adoption at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35212440/ . Go and bid!On another note, I saw a bug in the site the other day, but I don't know if it's still there. I saw a journal notification on my "others" page, but I couldn't seem to use the title as a link because the subject line was No Subject.
Now, I managed to read the journal anyway, but unfortunately, I deleted the notification, so I can't directly test for the bug anymore. But you may have noticed my own No Subject journal in your notes, which I set up for this purpose. So please go to your notes, then to my No Subject (hopefully in just the one click), and tell me in the comments there whether you were able to reach it directly or not.

Hi there. With the dawning of a new year, I've decided to make some changes. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to try to post on FurAffinity every day. I certainly have the backlog to keep up for a while, and I intend to put out more of my own stuff too.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Any takers? I don't see any existing examples on FA or EQD. It's all full-body or two-pieces, usually on anthro shapes. (And au naturale, of course, but that's just something else I'm not asking about.)
Update (11/11/17): As of December 2016, one artist has answered the call.

A feature or two I'd really like
Posted 11 years agoY'know, I haven't needed that last post for a while now. Here's a comment I made on Fender's latest journal.
I want to be able to remove notifications of old journals. It could be by browsing old notifications, and this might have to come first. But I think giving journals a "remove notification" button would help me and others a lot.
Let me illustrate with some examples. One user I follow is probably not named "Gerald," but I'll use that name for him. Gerald posts long journals that are sometimes interesting and that carry some things that interest me, and some that don't. But his paragraphing is not conducive to skimming for the interesting nuggets.
Under the current system, I glance at Gerald's journals and figure I'll get back to them later. Often, I don't. Then journals from other users pop up, and journals of Gerald's I'd otherwise delete are lost off the bottom of my notification page.
It's not just stuff with a high barrier to entry. Another user, "Edith," sometimes posts videos in her journals. If I have time, I watch the video once and then delete the journal. But again, stuff from other users pops up, and even if I watch the video later, I can't delete the original journal notification.
And what's the stuff that's pushing the other stuff down? Well, "Ricardo" posts commission prices and stream notifications in his journals... but quite often, his journals are not single-subject. I'd have to read each such journal to be sure there's not something extra. But I don't read all of Ricardo's commission/stream journals because I can't participate in every sale and stream.
However, if I go to a user's journal page, I can read all that user's new and old journals. Since it's not too difficult to find a particular old journal, a "delete notification" button on each individual journal would let me clear out journals while seeing what I'm clearing out.
And if, for each user's all-journal page, I saw a label on each journal entry saying that I do or don't have an old notification for that entry, I don't even have to check journals I don't remember de-notifying. I could see directly that I hadn't deleted a notification for that journal, read it right there, and then click through if I want to delete the notification. (Buttons on the all-journal page might be annoying, because I risk deleting the wrong notification. I already run that risk on my "new submissions" and "other notifications" pages.)

munesol is also taking commissions. His FA gallery also has examples, as does his DA gallery, but virtually all of his most recent work is on Tumblr, mostly this one. He's listed his prices here.

Project: Harlequin Romance
Posted 12 years agoHey there! Before we get into the main subject of today's journal, I want to announce that finally (at least, "finally" by my own definition), I am a brony. More specifically, I've watched enough episodes of Friendship is Magic that I don't feel silly trying to self-apply that label.
Now for the project! I recently commissioned a picture of a pony OC whose color scheme made the artist, MuneSol, very uncomfortable. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, meet John Hodgepodge: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10479343/ He is, I suppose, what human biology specialists would call a "chimera," and that's why his coat is four colors.
Whatever the reason for his colors, the artist was quite bothered by them. (Those of you who think this is my fault, I agree. If you've seen "Suited For Success," I was one part Pinkie, two parts Rainbow. I had one idea I didn't really like, but I didn't know what else to ask for.) Mune vowed that next time I wanted a color picture of Hodgepodge, I'd have to pay extra. (I'm not painting the artist in a good light here, but they were being pretty reasonable.)
And when somepony floated the idea of a Rule-34 of John with Rainbow Dash, Mune said that would be $1500. I asked how serious this was. He's serious. If I can gather that much money and pay at least half of that up front, he'll draw and color those two ponies going at it. So who'd like to make an artist squirm?
OK, I realize this is an unusual project. And I don't know how exactly to gather that much money fairly, from a journal solicitation. I'm open to suggestions, though, and I'll post my first thought as a comment here.

Posted 13 years agoCall to Action: NCIS: Ponyville
Posted 13 years agoArrite, essdew anudderwunna dese.
...Right, I guess Ponyville is a terrible setting for an NCIS, being nowhere near an ocean. But that's not the point of this type of exercise, is it? It's to see how well the archetypes of one show can match those of another show. And there are some pretty good matches here!
Tony DiNozzo/Rainbow Dash
Swagger. Braggadocio. 'Nuff said.
Abby Sciuto/Pinkie Pie
Nopony's very gothy (except Luna, perhaps), so that's not a factor. Seriously. Don't go there. But Abby is super-perky (often hopped up on Caf-Pow), has music playing all the time, and is generally hard to pin down (names and talks to her equipment, wins several offscreen fights).
Tim McGee/Twilight Sparkle
Tempting as it is to assign Gibbs's leadership role to Twilight, he's too intimidating and too technologically clueless. (Doesn't use e-mail at all, though he was comfortable operating the mimeograph when the power went out.) McGee, on the other hand, is a proper socially-awkward egghead. (A bestselling author, even! Twilight would like that!)
The last three are a little trickier, in that I see two good assignments and I'm not sure which I prefer. Let me put them in the context of the possible mismatches.
Ziva David/Fluttershy
Fluttershy being assertive is the exception. Even when Ziva isn't beating thugs into submission, she doesn't exactly whimper in the corner.
Rarity, meanwhile, can at least pull the role off. And I like the idea of Applejack, the only pony unsubstituted from Lauren Faust's concept art, filling the role of Ziva David, who came onto the team after Kate Todd was... yeah.
Dr. Donald Mallard/Applejack
Not to say that autopsies aren't hard, rewarding work, but running one farm over many years is quite different from thoroughly examining bodies, enough so that they don't need to be seen ever again.
However, I can see Fluttershy taking on the role of psychopomp, talking the dead victims through their passage to the next life. And Rarity should have plenty of stories to ramble through on totally relevant tangents. Plus, Spike as Jimmy Palmer would be funny opposite her.
Leroy Gibbs/Rarity
Gibbs is all business. Whenever Rarity is all business, that business is usually in service of pleasure. Alternatively, Rarity cares about image (her own and others'), and Gibbs can't.
Applejack, of course, would be a natural to rustle up the team and corral suspects. But even though Fluttershy doesn't strike me as the Marine type for the same reason she doesn't match Ziva, I should point out that Gibbs achieves a lot without raising his voice.
Actually, since Applejack can be very warm in public, whereas Gibbs has shunned awards ceremonies especially when he'd be receiving, I'm leaning towards Gibbs/Fluttershy, Ziva/Applejack, and Ducky/Rarity.

Posted 13 years agoSo I'm thinking of adding a snake head to my goat tail. Thoughts?
Of course, as an avatar, Prawo is a quasi-shapeshifter by default. So I'd reserve the option to revert to entirely goat, though going part- or fully-snake seems attractive. And almost obviously, I'd abuse this mixing ability.

This journal isn't about them, because that would be stupid, and I'm the one who made the mistakes in the first place. (And I'm not even sure posting this journal, even one this vague, isn't also a mistake.)
No, this is about me, and particularly how I talk to you. I have Asperger's Syndrome, and one big part of that is I am a bad communicator/listener. This latest conversation made me feel like I was trying to apologize primarily by throwing rocks.
I don't like making mistakes, so I like knowing when I've made them and how to correct them. So if I do that with one of you, if I say something I shouldn't, please gently correct me. And if I somehow misunderstand your correction, please note me and be more specific there. It might take a while, but I will learn from it.

Wiiiide Open for Commissions... plus raffle opportunities
Posted 14 years agoI need an upgrade for my laptop. Currently, it has the form of a hard disk sitting on my bookshelf. Now, I've never closed commissions for ambigrams, but I think I can make this a little more visible. I nominally have ten slots open for $15 each over PayPal, but now you have some opportunities for free commissions.
[ETA: my boilerplate definition of "ambigram" can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2652078/ ]
Here's how that will work: I will take commissions normally, by comment or note (with negotiations by note and e-mail), asking for payment upon completion. Negotiations include what you want the ambigram to say, its symmetry and style, what colors and other graphical elements you want, and revisions.
If you want a freebie (limit one per commenter), leave a comment here using the word "startle" so I can see you're paying attention. Then for every $50 I make, I will choose a random freebie-wanter from the commenters, and if that's you, I'll make you an ambigram with the same options as a full commission, except the only revisions I'll perform will be on huge mistakes.
Also, if you're a paying commissioner and would like to speed up my output of freebies, you can certainly leave a tip. You'll be a hero to some random person!
Please spread the word. Amabo te.

Renewing my offer
Posted 14 years agoChristmas is coming up, so now is a good time to snap up a quick gift. Maybe your friend would like an ambigram of their name!
(Full disclosure: copypasta follows)
Some of you might wonder what an ambigram is. The most common form of ambigram is a word or phrase written to look the same upside-down, such as this one of my handle: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3967222/ But the broadest definition, and I think the best one, is "any text written to have more symmetry than usual." This could be something that looks like something else upside-down, such as http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6166844/ , but it also applies to reflection, 90-degree rotation (120-degree symmetry also possible), switching between foreground and background, and even sliding half the strokes over an inch to make the other half.
Now, how might you get one of these? Well, I am charging $10 USD over PayPal for commission slots. Send me a note (or post a comment if you prefer) with the text you want ambigrammed, and I'll let you know if I can do it. Then we'll negotiate which of us will post the result, I'll note you my PayPal address, and the exchange will happen when I finish, probably in three days or less.
(End copypasta)
Still not convinced? Maybe you'd like to browse my gallery here on FA, or my Photobucket gallery here. (Sorry it's not entirely sorted. I'll be sorting through the albums and re-linking soon.)
