Aether Adrift TTRPG is Live on Kickstarter!
Posted 4 years agoI'm posting A journal too because I want to try to get as much visibility as I can on this project as fast as possible!
It's some time in the future - Humanity has sent out seed ships to colonize the stars. One such seed ship, the United Sol Albatross, has had a catastrophic failure near an uncharted world far from earth, causing the ship to evacuate in escape pods.
Upon landing on the planet, the crew and passengers of the Albatross meet the Mikwa - a peaceful race of bipedal rabbit-like creatures - that help them establish a home base. While investigating mysterious, technologically advanced ruins, they run afoul of another intelligent species on the planet - the Fulgori, and the Fulgor Empire.
King Fulgor wants the technology of the ruins for his own nefarious schemes, and humans need the technology to have any hopes of finding and restoring their ship.
In response, the Humans and Mikwa have formed an organization called the Voyagers to fight back the Fulgori, and discover the secrets buried in the ruins!

We've been working extremely hard on getting this ready for Kickstarter over the last couple of years. I'm afraid it will come off as pandering to say this, but we want to put minority and LGBTQ+ representation front and center.
The Mikwa, in particular, are very queer coded. They're outwardly affectionate and friendly, extremely colorful, and they don't have anything resembling traditional gender roles or... even gender, for that matter.
I'm having trouble organizing my thoughts into anything coherent, but I hope you'll take the time to give our kickstarter page a read. This has been a long journey, and I'd be honored if any of you want to walk it with us.

Aether Adrift Discord + Playtesting
Posted 7 years agoHey, I know I haven’t said much about it on this account, but I’ve been working on a pen and paper RPG.
The premise is that Human colonists have crash landed on a strange alien planet made of floating landmasses. They're too far from home to call for help, their ship is stuck in orbit and the escape pods containing colonists and supplies are scattered across the world. They form a coalition with one of the local peaceful alien species, the Mikwa, to help them fight back against an expansionist alien empire, the Fulgori. both Humans and Fulgori want the technology contained in the ruins of an ancient alien civilization. Humans hope it can help them help them repair or replace their ship. The Fulgori want it to further their military might.
As I mentioned earlier, it uses Savage Worlds Deluxe as a base and will build onto it with island/terrain generation rules and gear modification/crafting rules, as well as new Edges, Hindrances, Races, Gear, and a full bestiary. The game's focus will be on adventure and exploration. The core book and planned supplements will focus on wilderness survival in the environments and delving into those ancient structures.
We keep a weekly blog that updates with information on the setting, artwork, and concepts for things to come.
We're still early in production, so it's nowhere near ready to purchase, but we're hoping to be on Kickstarter in April, so we're pushing to raise as much awareness before then as we can.

Wayfarer, Echo 6 and my Blog
Posted 11 years agoHey, I dunno how many people actually check my journals here, but I have a couple of quick updates.
First of all: Wayfarer has been put on the back burner. It's simply too big of a project to do as my first RPG, so I'm hanging it back until I get a little more experience under my belt. I AM NOT abandoning it, and it WILL get done, it'll just be a bit.
Echo 6 is the new project I'm working on.
Echo 6 is an action oriented game where you play as custom built androids, you have a large amount of freedom when creating your character, and when advancing your character. Expansion Modules let you do things like gain the ability to fly, resistance to damage types, turn invisible, or move freely in water, and are designed to be switched in and out relatively freely, so you're not bound into one role when playing the game, but if you want to marry yourself to a role, you can achieve that cheaper than having a lot of hot-swappable options. The game's currency for upgrades is the same for gear, so if you only need one gun, you can pour your earnings from missions into upgrading your bot - or if you're settled with upgrades you can buff your arsenal or your skills. The idea behind Echo 6 is freedom and customization.
I need to try to check back here more often to do stuff, but lately I've been caught up in a bunch of stuff - one of which was the metric shit-ton of art I hadn't uploaded that I really needed to, so I finally got that shit out of the way, and now I'm all done with 2014. I can't let myself get backed up like that again, or I think I'll just stop posting, bluh :T

Training Points Update - WayfarerRPG

I’ve updated the Training Points page on the wiki to include several new stats and training options, I’ll outline them briefly below.
Dodge Rank
Dodge rank represents your character’s ability to avoid damage. This is put into place because before it’s introduction, characters can get better armor, wield weapons better, and gain more magic, but cannot get better at dodging outsider of gaining more Dexterity or equipping magic items.
You can add points to your Dodge Rank to increase your dodge score, making it more difficult to enemies to hit you, but it costs 2 TP to increase it, and armor will reduce your Dodge score based on it’s armor check penalty.
Parry Rank
Parry Rank represents your character’s ability to redirect and deflect enemy attacks. This is similar to Dodging, but is more active. Dodge is a number, but Parry is a bonus.
When you parry, you essentially roll a ‘counter-attack roll’, comparing your result with the opponent’s. If you roll higher, you successfully parry, if you don’t, you are hit.
Some attacks will automatically break a parry, but a successful parry will allow for a Riposte attack, which I’m still working out details on - it will either be a free attack, a higher crit chance, or something that makes it more worth it than a regular hit, however.
Magic Skills
Magic skills are much like weapon skills, but the categories are broken up into the different magic schools. Each point you put into a magic skill of a certain school gets you a cumulative +1 bonus to attack rolls made for spells in that school, and a cumulative +1 bonus to caster level checks.
Magic Training
Magic Training allows you to further specialize in magic, allowing you to increase the damage of spells that use a certain element, or increase DCs to resist spells, meaning that if you want to focus in spells that have saves, you no longer have to cross your fingers and hope your target rolls especially badly.
There aren’t spells representing most of the magic schools yet, but that’s on my to-do list. I also went through and alphabetized the section, so things aren’t just in a weird jumble now.
I hope you’ll all take a look at the new section and let me know your thoughts.

Wayfarer RPG pre-alpha rules are on the wiki.

I've been sort of scrambling to get all this stuff into a usable state, but it seems I'm basically at a mental wall.
So, here's what I've got at the moment. Please, any of you who are learned and familiar with P&P RPG type dealies, please let me know what you think!
Also: I know that this system is remarkably similar to D&D/Pathfinder, as that served as my basis (Wayfarer started out as a WIP campaign setting for Pathfinder, actually), so keep that in mind, but feel free to critique any way!
Edit: the rules aren't extremely well organized right now, because I'm not sure how to catagorize them and stuff. as soon as I get things more worked out, they'll be a bit easier on the eyes.

I've decided to make a wiki type database of Wayfarer so I can be a bit more transparent.. and organize my ideas a bit better. As of now it's sort of limited to the awkward folder hierarchy on my computer, and some widespread files here and there.
Now I'm gonna be putting mostly everything online, so you can see how things are progressing :3

Posted 16 years agoif you have ANYTHING AT ALL you want to say about ANY of my art, I'd appreciate a comment. whether it be negative or positive, criticism is always wanted and welcomed. just don't be a jackass o3o;
I write these descriptions and post these pictures ont only so you can see them, but also so I can have some feedback or some input. after all, most of the stuff going into this account is going to be for Wayfarer, my "furry" pen and paper RPG, and I want to know what you all think about my ideas for it.
