I have an idea for a sketch I want done (doesn't have to be colored but could be) and it needs to be inexpensive and either in the mail to me by the end of July or available to me to print off by middle of August. No wiggle room on dates I need it by because it must go with me to MFM this year.
Doesn't have to be the most amazing artistic abilities but I pretty much know exactly what I want and need someone to be able to create it. (it will likely include a tiger fur so you'll need to be able to draw felines)

I'm not planning to eat out much (I'm a charity worker, so one step away from charity case lol) probably just Saturday night at the Hibachi I don't yet know how many will be going with me but talk to me at MFM and we'll see if there is space. Friday, March 1st, marks 26 Fridays since MFM 2012 and 26 Fridays from now we'll be together hearing "Welcome Home"!

I'll tell you how things got even worse in a minute because I want to start at the beginning.
This is Elsa... We saved her life and promised her forever safety at Tiger Haven. Now, I think she's begging you

You remember, don't you...

When a handful of neighbors, most of whom moved here after Tiger Haven was already established...

Suddenly decided to sue Tiger Haven for $10 million (are you kidding me??).

They claimed they wanted to sell their homes and that Tiger Haven lowered the value of their homes!!

Can you believe it? Hasn't the value of everyone's home gone down in the past 3 or 4 years?? But somehow, these folks blamed us.. And just last week...

We had to spend over $23,000 on tests, inspections, lawyers (and more lawyers) and now, on depositions. It's money we don't have! Money we had to spend out of our budget to care for the Great Cats! Can you send us your emergency support?

It's not what we want to spend care money on...but when you think about it...Keeping Tiger Haven open is the MOST IMPORTANT THING we can do to keep our promise to the Great Cats of Tiger Haven...

I can honestly tell you, Amber, I came home from all that and sat down to have a good cry – wondering where, on earth...I'll get the $23,000 to pay for all this AND to care for our Great Cats like Elsa... And then I thought of Thanksgiving...

And I offered up a little prayer of thanks for you and your friendship and love of Great Cats, Amber.

Because...

Sometimes I just don't know what I'd do -- caring for almost 300 rescued Great Cats, and dealing with these ridiculous claims and expenses....

If it weren't for your help, your support and your constant friendship to Tiger Haven.

But wait... I haven't told you what I promised to tell you at the beginning of this letter.

Just as I sat down to write this email...I picked up the phone to hear:

And this is Zambia...and the crate he was in when we was dropped at Tiger Haven at 10:30 last night. Should we have turned him away because we have to pay these legal expenses?
"I've got this lion cub in a cage in the back of my truck. If you don't take him, I don't know what I'm going to do with 'it'."

We know the guy. He's one of the guys who gets a tiny cub to pose for photos with people...until the cub gets too big, or the season changes and people want their children posed with Santa instead of a tiny dangerous baby animal. We rescued Heman and Sparsh from this guy. And now..

We've rescued Zambia.

He is tiny, skinny – the way they keep cubs so they can use them as photo cubs for longer – so Zambia will need extra, expensive care.

But we're Tiger Haven. We rescue Great Cats from the cruelty and abuse of the humans in their early lives.

Please help us now, Amber, when our resources are being drained by this malicious lawsuit. Your gift of $10, $15, $20 or more if that is at all possible...

Will truly be a reason for thanksgiving at Tiger Haven.

Anyone else having trouble trying to get out of con mode?
I cannot get enough sleep!
I think this year has been the hardest for me as for transferring back to normal life. Dunno why.

Anyways, MFM 2012 was good and busy as always. I know Sunday is really my only day to just be at the con, I'm working the rest of it, but it wouldn't be the same to me to not be working on the auction. This was my 7th year helping with the auction. Since it was the 13 year they've had the auction that means I've been on this for more then half of it's life span. That's something. I never envy Hikaru (who ran the auction before me) and running it by himself. As hard work and stressful as it is with all my minions I would not want to imagine doing it without them. I said on the staff emails that my minions are not just anyone who was sucker enough to be there for a moment, they are people I know I can trust fully to do what is needed.

We brought in over $5100.00 in the Tiger Haven charity auction. Along with that was $1300.00 (or was it 1200?) that was a just because donation to Tiger Haven. There was also $300.00 or more brought in by various things like the quilt raffle and poker tourney.

Our dance went well. Lots of "you guys are awesome" and thumbs up. Due to the bad weather we were not able to retrieve the flashers and laser lights from the van for the dance. We didn't do requests for once. We kind of switched out all the electronics for beds for friends. That also made it so that I could enjoy the dance. Usually I'm working hard taking requests and barely notice the fun on the dance floor. This year I got to dance a bunch and take many pictures. Next year we will be back to taking requests (handcuff me back to the music list lol)

Yeah, you read that right, I said next year. I know I said we'd be skipping next year then be up in the air there after but apparently I lied.
My hubby and I do mostly charity work (not just the Tiger Haven auction) as such we make very little money. At the beginning of the year we start saving for MFM, after MFM we save for Christmas and that's about it. We rarely eat out, we never take a vacation unless it's a family or work thing, etc. We enjoy doing charity work, we are greatly needed (especially hubby) but it results in a very money-less life.
Sunday I had about an hour free before closing ceremonies and went back to our motel room and zonked out. Completely slept through Kitty moving off the bed, Journye trying to wake me, and didn't stir till I hear Wulfie and Sethor mention it was 10 minutes till closing ceremonies time. I seriously considered skipping, figuring that Tyger is often busy and may not even notice I'm not there. In the end I decided it was basically the last thing so I really should get up and go. I got to the staff holding room a few minutes before time to start, still blinking and willing my eyes to stay open. Then Tyger asked to speak to me privately. Uh-oh. He took me to the next room and said he heard I wasn't planning to be at MFM next year. I again thought uh-oh, he probably is unhappy I didn't tell him first (I was waiting till the con rush was over to tell him and had written up a auction how to so that Cirrel could try to make do without me). I explained that we mostly work charities and as such rarely have money for anything. He told me that word had gotten around that we weren't going and someone contacted to offer to take care of things for us. So basically I went from half asleep to stunned. I told him that would work and we started going back towards the staff room before it fully sunk in, and I teared up. Which of course Tyger loved, as we all know he loves to make poor ladies cry! lol So a couple minutes later when called up with the rest of the staff I was still trying to hold back tears because I was so shocked that anyone cared that much.

So my crew and I are already working on ways to make both the auction and dance even better next year. If you have suggestions, send em. Feel free to join the challenge to bring Tiger Haven lots of money and keep your eyes open for great things for the auction.

Is something I did this week! :)

A woman came across me as being a Nashville area fur and being fairly active in the local furs (planning meets for local furs, and being someone that many furs go to for connection with other local furs). She contacted me a short time ago and asked if I would be willing to talk to a college class about furry or know someone that would be willing to if I wasn't. Since I've answered "what's with the tail?" "What's furry?" an uncountable amount of times, and I'm open, willing to talk about pretty much anything, I figured why not.

It is a class at Belmont University in Nashville, TN made of mostly junior and senior psychology students learning about human sexuality.
Basically a group of students decided to do a report about the sexual fetishes in the furry fandom and wanted someone to come speak about furry in general.

So I set up with the teacher to come speak this past Wednesday. The class is 50 minutes long and she said I wouldn't have to speak the whole time, just give a little presentation.
I wrote up some points I wanted to cover, wore my tail, ears and a past MFM staff shirt and brought along my partial fursuit.
I told them I was open and willing to answer any questions they had so feel free to ask. I talked about some of the stuff I wanted to talk about, I touched on a few other areas I wanted to mention and then spent at least half the class time answering questions.
They had a different furry speak for them last year but a student stated that furry seemed terrified and the teacher had a lot of questions also so apparently they hadn't answered much well for them.
I kept answering questions until the teacher realized it was time for the class to be gone. We had discussed the furry fandom for the entire 50 minute class and then some!

Being a paid guest speaker at a university is certainly something I've never done before but it was neat. And I've explained furry so many times, this time instead of explaining it to a couple people I spoke to about 20 people at once. :)

Did everyone have a good Christmas (or chosen celebration) and New Year?

My Christmas was pretty great. Had all our siblings here (my two brothers and one sister, and hubby's sister). Hubby got me an awesome present. I had on my wish list a Nikon coolpix P90 digital camera, it was one of those "I doubt anyone will have the money for it but in my wildest dreams this would be awesome". But hubby found an epic deal and was able to get it and lots of extra stuff for it!
My mom also gave hubby and I a wii which we've wanted for years. So that is fun to play with. I spent part of Christmas day using my awesome new camera to take pictures of my family looking funny while playing with our awesome new wii. :)
Really enjoyed Christmas evening. I made supper for my siblings and then we played games and laughed till we couldn't breath!

New Years was enjoyable also. Had multiple friends come over. Friday a couple friends that we hadn't seen in a couple years came by for a visit. Then Saturday our friend Teric came by with his wife and four sons to meet us and spend the night as they passed through the area. Was really great to finally meet them since we've known Teric online for many years.

Years ago I started a blog, it mostly held my poetry and some favorite pictures from MFM 2005... Yeah, it's been untouched since 2005... We are going to have dinner meets at normal place: Subway 718 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 and time: 7pm on January 18th and might do the same thing again on February 2nd. (or might do the CiCi's a couple miles down the road, for the Feb 2nd meet)
Anyone is welcome to come to the dinner meets, and it would be a great time for new furs to come meet the group because there will likely be a weekend gathering Feb 17-19th but that will be invite only so need to know that new furs will be a good match for a weekend together. Usually something stupid or completely made up in their head (trust me, if I wanted to give a person a reason to hate me, I'd give them good reason and I wouldn't/don't deny it afterwards) When someone closes to be pathetic and play ridiculous make believe about how awful I am, they don't cross my mind too much afterwards. I might miss the way they used to be (pre-sticking their own head up their own rear) but life is today, we can't turn back the clock to yesterday, so I move on. But then those people who chose to be mad at me continue talking about me, stalking me online, etc. Obviously you miss me, if you miss me that much, remove your head from your rear, come back, ask to forget the past and promise to try to be better in the future. Quite likely your problems will be solved, because I pretty much always forgive. Look at the fact that just a couple months ago I reconnected with the bestfriend (who was like a brother) that hurt me horribly nearly 10 years ago, so bad that I had trouble trusting for some time afterwards, he asked to forget and be friends again and I agreed. Things are not as they once were, beyond the hurt he caused we have grown and changed a lot in ten years but we're friends again. It's not that hard, you chose to create an issue, now you choose to stop having an issue and you can stop missing me and thinking about me all the time...

Planning a couple meets. One dinner and one weekend with holiday dinner.

November 10, dinner at our favorite Subway (common, the regular worker knows us well and asks how we are, where everyone is, etc lol) At 7pm at 718 Thompson Ln # 125 Nashville, TN 37204-3612 Last time we filled the three tables we usually use and not even everyone came that had wanted to! December 2-4 weekend meet at our house in Pegram, TN. You will need to contact me and let me know you are coming.
Starting Friday at 6pm and going till midday Sunday.
We will be having a nice holiday dinner Saturday night starting about 5:30pm, even if you can't come for the rest of the weekend you can come for the dinner Saturday (but again I must know).
If you will be spending the weekend please let me know and plan to bring whatever you need for the weekend, clothing, bedding, etc. We have some bedding but likely not enough for everyone. Also bring munchies and drinks for the weekend, and board and card games if you'd like.
If you will be there for the dinner I'll need to know a full head count no later than November 25th. You will also likely need to bring something to contribute to the meal (I'll organize who/what but if you have a preference let me know, I'll have ideas for those who can't cook also). If we get things covered for the meal you might be asked to bring something for Saturday or Sunday breakfast instead so make sure I know when you are coming/how long you're staying.
We will also do a gift exchange Saturday night, a gift exchange game. No one is required to participate but if you would like to join, bring a wrapped gift around 5-10 dollars.

Please let me know via private message if you are coming to the December 2-4 weekend meet. At that point I'll cover what to bring, address, etc.

Last Sunday I shot my friends wedding, fun but exhausting of course. I found myself rather happy that my photography abilities put me out of the brides maid job. lol For a long time I was supposed to be a brides maid for her, she changed a year ago to wanting me to be her photographer. When I got there I found she had changed her colors from blue to hot pink. O.O It was pretty but pink looks awful on me.

Today is my birthday, I is 28 today :) Not a lot of fascinating things happening, had a staff party here at the home and in a little while my local furry friends, Wulfie and Kitty will be coming over to hang out some and spend the night.

Very busy as always. I certainly prefer our dance being on Saturday night (which is the con party night anyway) having it on Friday wipes out the rest of my weekend.

I put on my suit for a bit Friday but the a/c's were not really keeping up with the heat outside so I was dying in a couple minutes.

I was planning on skipping next years MFM but the looks of horror and begging I got to come back I decided that I will return next year, just Cirrel and I will be switching staff spots. When Tyger wants to harass and create drama I'll direct him to Cirrel and Cirrel will happily tell him where to stick it. That will alleviate some of my stress that Tyger so happily causes.
