Possible Uploads Incoming...? o.O
Posted 2 years agoAlrighty! I have a couple of questions for folks who follow me here...
1) Do you care if I post some of my comic stuff here?
AND!
2) Are there any particular strips/stories/characters you'd like to see?
Earlier today, I swung through & did my usual pouring through my notifications. The difference from previous trips is I noticed it'd been a good Six Months since the last time I'd drop by to do my "Usual". Six months away from here (and other archives) mostly because the main source of artwork folks get from me is my comic - Biff the Vampire. I've always had a hang up about flooding places like FA with my strip 'cause it rarely contained any critterfolk. That and I was worried that some folks might see the few times Vida (a catgirl) or one of the were-critters showed up, think that's the kind of cast you'll see often and be rightfully bummed that those are rarely the main characters in the stories. Never been a fan of bait and switch outside of the random April Fool's joke, ya' know?
Well... it's been a "Couple of Years" (2009 or 2010, I think?) since I made that decision. And the bulk of the last 80 or so strips have either directly had or was about one of the many critterfolk I've managed to work into the strip. So I've been wondering if folks would mind if I popped some of my more recent strips up here.
Figured I'd try for a little input from folks instead of doing like I planned & putting this off; probably forgetting about it for another decade or so.
You know... Status Quo. o.o
Anyhoo! For those who don't know, the strip I've been on about for this whole things is Biff the Vampire. Whether I go through with this plan or not, you can always find it at https://www.sillyvamp.com/ .

Posted 3 years agoHa HA! It's been a while since I last updated this thing, huh? o.O
Just going to do a quickie update since things are going to be (and have already) changing around here. No... not in the amount of new artwork. Although I AM thinking about mirroring some of my comic's strips here but, again, that's a conversation for later.
No, the changes are mostly in the links at the moment. You might notice a missing link on my Profile Page and a new footer on my journals with some much needed info. After that kerfuffle with Gumroad last month, I decided I'm simply not going to sell through them anymore. If you've ever bought any of my books through there, you have until the 20th of April - my birthday - to download them.
Honestly, the plan for this year was to branch out but after seeing that... "Tantrum"... on the GR Twitter feed, it made me say "Nope!" and I've phasing it out from my current linkage where I can find it and replacing it.
"With what?", you ask? Ko-Fi. I was planning to start using it for stuff other than sending folks cash later in the year but GR forced my hand! You can drop by here to find all my current digital books instead. -> https://ko-fi.com/propheteka/shop
Not sure when the next journal update will come but it will take this one's place as the "Featured" journal when it does.
'Till next time, folks! = )

Updates A-Go-Go!
Posted 6 years agoSO! Instead of writing up some crappy long-winded dealie, here's the scoop...
Art:
- Comic is still chuggin' along. If you're new here & like vampires, were-critters and old sitcoms; I have the Just the comic for you! = D
Biff the Vampire -> http://www.SillyVamp.com/ <- Updates every Sunday (unless otherwise noted)
I'll try to load up some furry-friendly stuff from the strip over here at some point. Currently working my way through a Bear Bros story bit. It's always fun to bust out those guys.
- I know I have a few pics I've done but haven't posted around to the archives yet. I'll try to get that stuff done soon-ish.
- Working on some newer merch over at my Redbubble page. Gotta' drop that link on my little header dealie, too, after I'm done with this. -> https://www.redbubble.com/people/ProphetEKA
Life:
- It's going. Forever trying to remember how to relax. Still wondering if I ever really knew. o.O
Work:
- Current plans are unchanged: Keep Moving Forward.
- I plan on getting footage of my art stuff soon. The idea is to make some vids of what I use to do the voodoo that I do on the regular. The A-roll will be the tools themselves. B-roll will be me actually using them to make something.
Part of this is to hopefully get me into making timelapse art vids more often than "Oh yeah! I was doing those.". Another is to drive more folks to my Patreon 'cause it's a thing I update regularly but forget to promote and what better way than to make the things that is the only goal I set up.
That's about it, really. Back to the Art Mines for me. A strip needs drawing, some designs need fixing and I should remember to drop a link to my Patreon at some point since I mentioned it.
Like now. -> https://www.patreon.com/ProphetEKA

Agenda 2017 - July to September

April to June:
- Finish old projects
Yes! I Actually accomplished this (to an extent)!
- Relax.
Sorta'?
This last quarter was fairly good. I got some projects done that have needed doing. Stuff like basic website maintenance and cleaning up my actual living space so my toes don't automagically find a misplaced piece of tech when I move away from my work desks. I even went in a did some cleaning of my main system since I noticed it's temps had started spiking pretty bad. Replaced my old stock AMD heatsink (circa 2013) with a New stock AMD Wraith heatsink (circa 2016). Generally, stock heatsinks are terrible. Seems AMD finally learned this and made their newer ones both pretty and worth using.
Another fun AMD Heatsink Fact I learned while searching: AMD kept the same basic CPU/APU footprint for years. I think they only just recently changed it with the higher end Ryzen chips. REALLY wanted to scoop that RGB-lit Wraith Spire, though.
On the "Relaxing" part... yeah? I've hit up a few movies. Stepped away from the comic when I really needed to instead of trying to force my way through. Worked on some computers. Drew some fun graphics and some non-Biff related stuff. Some of this might sound no different than the work I normally do but I assure you it was done to relax. I didn't need to update my oldest laptops or see if my G3 Blue and White would still boot but it felt good to dabble with them again. I didn't need to update the designs on my products but it was nice to apply new knowledge to old projects without a deadline hanging over my head. I even picked a bit more at some digital pics just sitting on my phone which I should probably get around to finishing.
It was work in a sense. It was just work that I could do free from a deadline or a heavy amount of stress.
Now to keep that ball rolling...
Basic vault rules apply:
In Spite of Everything, Keep Moving Forward.
July to September:
- Keep finishing old projects.
- Finish next Biff Book.
- Relax.
I still have a backlog - including a LONG Overdue commission for a friend - that needs doing: Two things that are Biff related, one thing that Biff-adjacent and one that also doubles as relaxing (hint: It involves a new GPU and possibly a new PSU). I also want to just hit up an event. I missed ConnectiCon 'cause I lost track of time. I really want to try for one of the newer cons in state that are coming up soon. Recharge the ol' batteries by diving into a crowd of comic folks. = )

Agenda 2017 - April to June

July to September (and straight on through March):
- Continue website redesign.
Nope.
- Start in on the next Biff book.
Not much beyond the basics.
- Work on the MBF-EA2 Astray Prophet Mk.II.
Ha HA! No. -.-
So here’s the long and short of it – Last summer, fall and much of winter were pretty terrible in me getting things done that weren’t the next Biff strip. The book has its basics done which is good but there’s a lot more that needs doing. The site redesign once again fell by the wayside. So did the Gundam but that was mostly ‘cause my old painting setup was destroyed thanks to time and my family’s habit of treating any open box as an empty box ripe for putting stuff in while claiming “It’s only temporary”. That and the weather decided that it could only be warm enough to paint when it was wet enough to mess up anything I’d want to do.
Not all was lost, though. I did a Drawlloween dealie again and stitched that up into a thing you can buy at this (Link). I also bought myself a Nerf Deploy that, in retrospect, was an odd thing to pick up but it’s a neat little thing I can fix up when it’s cruddy out and something I can use against my nephews in the summer. I also did a few drawing videos and popped them over onto my YouTube channel. Figured they made slightly more sense to post than having a bunch of terrible box openings on a channel belonging to a guy who draws stuff all day.
So not a lot of good happened in-between these posts. Thankfully, I’m slowly changing this as I keep working and keep on keeping on.

April to June:
- Finish old projects.
- Relax.
The first is self-explanatory. I have to clear this work backlog. I also have to clear this computer desk. It’s… it’s bad. The second is a reminder that I really should take a minute to breath. That’s something myself and others haven’t been doing lately and I think it’s driving us all to the brink of burnout and that’s So Not a good thing. Better to chill for a bit than to blow up on folks over some dumb stuff.

A Wild JOURNAL Appeared
Posted 8 years agoHa HA! I forgot to write a new "Agenda" post in January. -.-
I'll get to it for the April to June one. Needless to say, things were pretty much boned toward the end of the year. Things are looking up but, again, that's a post for a different day.
Anyhoo! This is pretty much a stopgap to say I still exist and I'm doing work. I tend to be far quieter here than on my various social media channels. Since I'll talk business later, I want to talk toys here. Folks may know I'm a bit of a Destiny fan. Now, I've been looking into picking up those neat Mega Bloks sets but I Think McFarlane toys kinda' blew those out of the water.
They're making a full-size Gjallarhorn rocket launcher.
Note: This is pretty much the fun gun that sold the game for many folks. It's so over-the-top that it was brought back from Year One with a new look and used to sell folks on 'Rise of Iron' - the last big expansion pack for the game. It's iconic. It's unique. It has 16 wolves on it.
I've recently gotten into Nerf modding and I kinda' wanted to do a Destiny build. I still have my eyes on doing something like a proper Hard Light build sometime in the far far future but man... That Gjallarhorn. It comes with a sound box and should get a proper scope that'll look like the reticle from the game. The only thing missing is the ability to fire big ol' squishy ammo at folks. = )
It'll cost a pretty penny ($100+ if I remember right) but man oh man it looks great. Kinda' wish Bungie went with JAKKS Pacific or Hasbro so we could get a working one but I'll be damned if the folks at McFarlane Toys didn't make the best looking possible prop to pop up on a wall like the massive geek I am. = P
Now I've got work to get back to.
'Till next time! = )

Agenda 2016 - July to September
Posted 9 years agoPreviously on “Agenda”

April to June:
- Get the rest of the stuff needed for Nerf mod.
Nope! Never got out to the store to buy it.
- Start redesigning my main website.
Yes and No…
- Try to get enough funds saved to make it out to some summer conventions.
Done and Done!
Cuttin’ it Close on this one!
The first goal is simple, really. Just swing by the beauty supply store and buy the hair net-type thingie to use as a mask for the paint effect I want. Don’t really go by that store all that often and it’s never on my mind when I’m close. o.O
The site redesign stalled a bit but not for the reasons one might guess. I was introduced to a CMS for comics called Grawlix. It neat, it’s flexible, it’s customizable without fighting the hellbeast that is WordPress… and it sparked an idea. I was looking into just adding function to my current personal site. You know, cleaning it up a bit so it doesn’t act like it was built before CSS was the designer’s equivalent to Bondo (not that it wouldn’t still Look like it). I wanted to float the sizes so it could work on more devices easily but that usually means DIV tags and all that comes with them. Then I found out about Grawlix and how they’re using Flexbox tags in place of the solid tables I build my stuff with.
I put my existing ideas on hold until I can get a better hang of Flexbox and all that it can do. I’m especially interesting in the whole shuffling effect that it can do. The idea of being able to build my navigation how I want it and not worry that it’ll be destroyed on different screen sizes makes me very happy. It’s always a good thing to remember that the “U” in “UI” stands for “User”. If someone can’t use your site easily or well, you kinda’ have to think about how you can fix it.
I’m very happy to say that I got out to this year’s ConnectiCon. Almost missed the window on the very last day of the con but I got in. Picked up a couple of items and ended up not going broke ‘cause of an issue with my card getting in. Turns out their system didn’t want to lay nice with my PayPal card (something that happens every so often) so I paid cash to get in. This also meant some funds were on hold on my card ‘till it washed. Turns out that I had Just enough that the remaining cash was a few cents shy of the foolishly high ATM fee.
Well… now for the rest.
Basic vault rules apply:
Keep Moving Forward.
July to September:
- Continue website redesign.
- Start in on the next Biff book.
- Work on the MBF-EA2 Astray Prophet Mk.II.
First two are pretty much work stuff that needs doing. Next volume of Biff needs to be made for October and the cover needs to be made up. I also REALLY need to learn Flexbox as I think that could be quite the option for a guy like myself who digs the steadiness of tables but need to make things fluid enough for modern mobile devices. That last one is something I should just really start. The bulk of that kit sitting around and it’s warm enough to paint for the moment. Might as well take advantage of this while I can.

The Grandaddy of all Contact Lists!
Posted 9 years agoWell... not exactly. It's a Link to a page labeled "The Grandaddy of All Contact Lists" which I update when needed.
-> Click Here To Find It <-
It's a better version of something I've been doing for years - Making sure folks can find me when/if they need to. Archives die horrible deaths all the time. Others (like here) get hacked and shit goes missing. I've found it a hell of a lot easier to simply make a page independent of this all this BS that points folks to every possible means of contact that I'll allow. The page I linked is from my Tumblr page so it also has the benefit of Tumblr-specific ways to yell at me. = )

Agenda 2016 - April to June

January to March:
- Get the rest of the stuff needed for Nerf mod.
Nope.
- Do “Something” for Biff in February.
Eyup.
- Start redesigning my main website.
Nope.
It’s been a weird first quarter. Thanks to wonky weather patters and my inability to find the fabric I need for what I want to try, the Nerf mod stalled. By the by, I guess the name for it is Lacing? All I remember is it’s an old car painting technique that works well and comes out pretty badass when done right.
Biff’s 10th Anniversary came and went. I dug up the original strips from Vol.1 (including some I thought were gone for good), cleaned everything up and updated the text/balloon placement a bit. I did this ‘cause I said some time back that I’d do it. I know that other cartoonists will go back and completely redo their earlier strips. Me? I’ll fix the text but leave the art alone as much as possible. I’m a fan of seeing folks’ rough beginnings. = )
As for redesigning my main site: Ha! Yeah… it slipped my mind. Not gonna’ lie, I’m more than happy to work on other folks’ sites (It’s my job every so often) but I don’t know why it feels like such a chore doing it for my own. I think it’s ‘cause I know what I need and I know I can pretty much play around to my heart’s content. It’s that whole idea of too many choices. I know I need something fresher than what I got that’s easy enough to update if/when I do something new. I also need something a bit more in-line with modern standards and more mobile-friendly. I have the skills to build it, too. Just gotta’ do it.
Now for the all important part…

April to June:
- Get the rest of the stuff needed for Nerf mod.
- Start redesigning my main website.
- Try to get enough funds saved to make it out to some summer conventions.
Two old goals and a new one! I know my friends REALLY want to get out to places like WWPhilly and other such cons. They also want me to go with them. It’s not a great time when your funds get drained by server costs and other necessary-yet-unfun bills around the same time as said conventions. The plan is to spin up production higher than bills can drain my account. If you want, you can help out in a bunch of different ways. Just check the (Link) for details.
Here’s hoping this all works.

Nope.

Agenda 2016 – January to March

October to December:
- Collect my recent pics into a Drawlloween 2015 book.
Done and Done! You can get a copy here -> Link
- Get more Non-Drawlloween Monster Girls drawn.
Nope. -.-
- Buy the paints and fabric for the Nerf project.
Yes (sorta’)! = D
So the 2015 ended fairly well for me. I got my Drawlloween pics all stuck together in a handy dandy Pay-What-You-Want book form. I only managed to get off two sorta’ non-comic pics this time around. I did manage to do something I never thought I could – Get my nephews not one but Two crazy gifts for the holidays. I got them a Nerf Jolt set so they can fire foam darts at each other. I also got them an Xbox 360 ‘cause I Finally had the cash to get them a game system (and it was on sale deep enough to pull off)! They can now play some of the games they keep watching on YouTube. = )
As for the rest… yeah. Didn’t get a new Monster Girl drawn completely but I did get a few sketches down. One I like a mermaid riding the inside of a wave. Just need to figure out arm placement and effects for the inside of the wave. I also didn’t end up getting all the paints I needed for the Nerf mod. I have the gun, I have the color-shifting paint but I still lack the fabric masking material and the black vinyl dye. I might also pick up some sanding sponges so I can wet sand and make it crazy smooth.
For first quarter of 2016, I’m going to keep things simple. Biff’s 10th anniversary is coming up in February and I want to do something special for that. I don’t know what, though… kinda’ why this is coming so late into the month. For now, I’m going to simply keep it as “Something”. After a not-so-fun heating issue recently, there’s a chance I might actually get the use my rattle cans thanks to some new tiny but powerful shop heaters.

That last one is sorely needed. The last redesign for my main site was back in like 2010. That’s back before I actually had a bunch of ebooks and thought I’d be working a regular job in no time. In other words: It’s light but slightly terrible for telling people about what I Actually do/have to offer.

July to September:
- Get Biff Vol.4 done.
FINALLY! = D
- Get some non-digital Monster Girls done.
Yes and No...
- Play some Destiny if I can swing it.
Lvl.40 Exo Hunter Guy (Main), Lvl.27 Exo Titan Lady, Lvl.25 Awoken Warlock Guy
The past three months were a real mixed bag. I got out to one convention – Terrificon (formerly ComicCONN) – for a few hours. I say “A Few Hours” ‘cause it was a pain to locate inside the casino it was being held in. This is despite knowing that casino very well thanks to years of visiting it and knowing some of the folks who have worked there. I didn’t make it out to either ConnectiCon or Wizard World Philly. Money and time conflicts pretty much killed all hope of getting there this year. Next year, perhaps…
One of the good things that happened is I Finally got Biff Vol.4 done. I took some time away from the regular uploads to do it but I did it and it’s done. The cover was really the only thing that was holding me back as I spent far too long overthinking instead of drawing. Once I got it all out, it not only helped make sticking the book together quick but I seem to have gained a bit of an artistic boost. I’m drawing more now than I have in years and the desire to draw is back. You better believe I’m taking advantage of it now before it dies out or drops back down to the usual low levels again. = )
The rest of the year seems to be all prep work for other projects. I’m making great time by doing this Drawlloween thingie. Once it’s done, I’m going to stick everything in a book and pop it up as another Pay-What-You-Want deal. I still need to get started in on Biff Vol.5 with hopes of getting that one done for the comic’s ten-year anniversary in February. Kinda’ want to do something extra that’d be neat for then, too.
Still haven’t finished gathering up all the stuff for my custom Gundam project yet but I’m pretty sure that will come together in time. Of all of my concerns, that’s at the bottom of my list. It will be joined by a custom paint job (and maybe a few mods) on a Nerf Rebelle Five-by-Five dart gun. Say what you will about Nerf’s girl-centric line, it seems to have scooped up all the nice smooth curves that scream “Toy” that were dropped years ago on their regular lines. It’s also a hammer-style revolver that is totally awesome. Although it’s just a repaint of sorts of Nerf’s “Sweet Revenge”, it sports mostly Covenant colors in the plastic along with a very Halo-esque shape. The goal is to paint one up with a color-shifting paint using a fabric masking technique to give it that hexagonal pattern. Stuff I’ve always wanted to try by never had the chance. Bonus: I get a new unique Nerf gun out of it.
Time to wrap this up…

By the by... Biff Vol.4 is Done.
Posted 10 years agoVol.4 comes in at 39 total pages, with 48 strips covering the tail end of 2010 to mid-2012 ('cause 2011 was a TERRIBLE Time for getting things done). It has the cover as you see it and a reverse of that set-up for the 'Meet the Crew' page. I will post both those pics up to my Art Tumblr later so folks can see how I went about making them. Now for the most important info...
Where to Get It:

April to June:
- Get Biff Vol.4 done.
Still not done.
- Get back on the "Ghouls'R Gals" project.
Kinda' doing this?
- Spend some quality time knee deep in Gunpla and paint.
Ha Ha Ha! Nope.
So... yeah. I got nothing done, really. Got hung up on the Vol.4 cover design. I've converted some of the strips over to the book format (droping the usual info for the date and title) but I'm not as far as I'd like to be. Things have been disturbingly slow these past few months. So much so, even this was pushed up until the last few days of July! Not a good look, I assure you. -.-
On the Plus Side, I got a new tablet in April. It's an Nvidia Shield Tablet, it's grossly overpowered and it's fantastic. I'm getting myself used to its method of handling the stylus - it's a "dumb" stylus with the machine handling the pressure sensitivity. This is a bit trickier to work with than the ThinkPad Tablet as you can't just isolate the pen 'cause that would make the Shield unusable. It's been a bit of learning to draw while not placing all of my weight on the screen. I'll pop up the first pic - a Monster Girl - once I've finished the colors.
The Gundam stuff has been pretty much on hold while I spend money on bills and other things that are not parts and paints. Again, I'd Love to go all out but that's being saved for when Vol.4 is done. I know, I know... seems like a ways away but one must finish their work Before they play.
Anyhoo...

Good News, Everyone!
Posted 10 years agoBiff Vol.2 is live and ready to go via ComiXology Submit! = D - (Link)
They did a real bang up job on the panel view. It makes the strips flow well without killing the jokes or feeling like you're missing something by not seeing the full thing at once. A trick I never quite learned to pull off myself via Graphic.ly.
The ComiXology folks make me look good. = P
So yeah! Vol.2 is up at ComiXology. Snag a copy if you haven't yet (or wish to have a version through them) -> (Link)

Agenda 2015 - April to June
Posted 10 years agoPreviously on 'Agenda'

January to March:
- Get the next Biff book done.
NOPE! And the reason will shock you... unless you follow me elsewhere then you probably already guessed why.
- Keep saving for those Gundam bits.
Yes and no? o.O
- Try not to hurt my dominant hand (or arm) so bad I can't work for an extended period again.
Done! = D
First quarter of the year went... interestingly? Yeah. That's a good word for it.
Spent a bit too long on getting Biff Vol.2 set fixed up for ComiXology. There were some things and I just had a hell of a time getting it prepped properly. Instead of trying to hastily build and send out Biff Vol.4, I decided my time was better spent on launching a Patreon for my work - both Biff-related and otherwise. This was a great idea! Why? 'Cause it seems I kinda' miss having a boss of sorts. I've been a bit more active in getting things done and I've been a bit smarter about not killing myself to get said things done.
I have a habit of doing things until I hurt if I'm doing them for myself. I'll keep on going until my spine is a column of pain and my eyes are useless just to get a single item out of the way. With folks monetarily on the hook, I've found I don't do such stupid things. This has meant a few late strips but it also means I've stopped drawing to sleep instead of soldiering on deep into the next day without a care on how that will affect me for the next week.
I'm also getting something I rarely ever get - feedback. Not sure why there's a sudden uptick in questions/comments but I'm really happy to see it. = )
On the Gundam tip: I got the cash I paid the government last year in estimated taxes back. After I sat on it for a while, I saw that two of the bits I needed were pretty much down to the single digits in quantities. Not sure when Bandai will re-release the good 'ol Astray Blue Frame without it being the extra crazy modded ones they've been pumping out, I dropped some cash on getting it and one of the extra fancy weapon dealies I wanted to get as an early birthday gift to myself. One that will come in May. Hopefully.
Now for the normal stuff...

ProphetEKA on Patreon
Posted 10 years agoIndeed, I have! After a long bit of thought (and a lot of unnecessary hand wringing), I took the plunge and went through with a Patreon page. = )
You might be curious as to what all this means. Have some bullet points:
- Why? Simple. I make stuff on the regular and I know folks enjoy it enough to support me. For that, I am incredibly thankful. They’ve supported me both by simply being there with moral support and financially - via ebook sales, buying physical products and even donating. Patreon gives folks another way to do that.
- What do I get? The chance to not take as much time away from my on-going projects (Biff the Vampire and my Monster Girls stuff). It also goes into the pot to help me pay bills and generally keep things going.
- What do You get? Less non-Biff work related interruptions, the chance to get some How-To videos on how I do the voodoo that I do every so often and the very real possibility of projects I’ve mentioned wanting to work on - stuff like Night of the Lepus and reviving Project: Alice - actually getting made.
- Is this a “Paywall”? Hell No. With the exception of a single item (the Official LUSR membership card*), everything this helps me make will be available to everyone. This doesn’t mean I won’t hook Patreon supporters up with other stuff in the future, it simply means that the comic and the possible videos and the projects it could very well help fund will see the light of day as they would’ve without this.
I hope this brief write-up covers things for folks. If you wish to become a Patron of mine, simply hit the link right here. -> (Proph’s Patreon)
*The card is currently a printable page but I do want to find out how to make these in plastic to sell at conventions some day.

Agenda 2015 - January to March
Posted 11 years agoPreviously on 'Agenda'
- -- - -- ~ -- - -- -
July to December:
- Make a solid choice on which non-Biff story to work on and flesh it out a bit using Tumblr as a way to keep myself honest and working on it.
Nope.
- Get the few Monster Girl sketches I have done and posted.
Thanks to tablet issues, nope.
- Save up for/possibly purchase more Gundam stuff: HG Astray Blue Frame (standard), AGE-1 Razor parts, AGE-1 Normal (for nephew), GNX-Ahead, Kansetsuwaza EX 144 posable mech hand, Build Booster Mk-II and the various paints for it all.
I got the Razor parts! = D
So... things kinda' fell apart in the second half of the year. My ThinkPad Tablet died, I spent far too long trying to revive it and I can't access my backed up drawings. That pretty much put the kibosh on finishing the Monster Girls pics I had left as they're quite possible gone for good. As much as I love SketchBook, their internal gallery is hidden and proprietary and I'm still holding out hope that the program I used to back up my app saved wherever they store their working files so I can get those pics back or finished some other way.
November came through with its own flavor of fail. My fave mechanical pencil crapped out on me. Then, thanks to a not-so-funny accident, my right thumb was messed up pretty bad and I've been working for the past few weeks to get it back to good again. As much as I play it off online like it's really nothing, my drawing hand is still not back to 100%. The scar wraps around the outside of the digit and along the joint. This damage limits my thumbs range of motion and makes drawing or writing a pain after a while. I'm doing stretches to regain what I lost but it's going to be a while before that happens.
One the Plus Side: Biff Volume One is available through ComiXology. Also, through the incredibly well-timed generosity of a reader, I was able to make this Christmas a damn good Christmas for my family and friends. I might have been down for a bit but I'll be damned if I let and injury stop me from making others happy. I even pulled off both a strip and my annual Christmas Tag despite my thumb still being pretty swollen and probably not good to work with.
This wasn't how I wanted my year to end. I wanted to go out on the highest of notes and not have to pull myself back from being kicked in my proverbial teeth. This won't stop me but it definitely slowed me down. That said, I'm sticking to my guns.
Basic vault rules apply:
Keep Moving Forward.
January to March:
- Get the next Biff book done.
- Keep saving for those Gundam bits.
- Try not to hurt my dominant hand (and arm) so bad I can't work for an extended period again.
An unofficial item is that I'm still looking into is starting up a Patreon but I don't have any real plans on that just yet. Just research and all that so... yeah.
I Think I can manage this list. I Hope I can manage at least manage that last item. We'll see. Here's to a new year!

Biff Vol.1 is Available on ComiXology! = D
Posted 11 years agoIf I were physically able to do backflips, I'd do them. = )
Here's the stats:
- It's still Vol.1. No changes have been made in its content save for it is High Res.
- It's priced at $1.99. Why a penny less than everywhere else? It's their pricing structure.
- It's rockin' their Guided View and they did a Fantastic job of it. Far better than what I could manage when I tried doing it myself via Graphic.ly's version of it.
Personally, I'm insanely happy about it. ComiXology is one of my all-time favorite digital shops. Along with my listings over at DriveThru Comics, I now have my silly vampire hanging out at the two most well-known digital comic shops. Now to figure out some way to get a physical version out the Brick & Mortar shops so I can take pictures of my randomness sitting next to 'Watchmen' and 'Bone'. = P
Anyhoo! If you're down for it, swing by & snag a copy for yourself. -> http://cmxl.gy/1tMfMtu

On Marathons and Patreons
Posted 11 years agoCopy-Pasted from the Biff strip
- — - — - — ~ — - — - — -
First and foremost, let’s get the Halloween Midnight Movie Marathon news out of the way. I’m going to run ‘Reefer Madness’ and ‘The Screaming Skull’. I figure a film about drugs followed by a trippy horror flick works out pretty well. More details later as things shape up. = )
Now to the more important (and longer) topic - Patreon.
As you probably know, many an artist has sparked up Patreon campaigns as a way to help fund their long-term projects as of late. Like the classic Donate button rebooted, it has been allowing folks on both sides of the equation - readers and creators - a way to keep the things the love going without the hassle of trying to constantly sell folks on pricier items or the always undesired “I need to stop for a bit so I can make money” breaks. Trust me on that last one. -.-
Some might be wondering why the post? Why not simply start one and run with it. Well… I’m old school. I like knowing that the things I do actually bring in funds. It’s also incredibly hard for me to do things that seem like I’m asking for something for nothing. Not that the comic is nothing, mind you. It is the longest project I’ve ever done and it’s the only project folks continue to pay attention to; some even paying Actual Money to have products from. That’s… outstanding to me. It’s truly incredible and I’m beyond thankful for each and every one who swings by and reads my silly vampire strip.
That said… I still see Biff as something I’d do even if folks didn’t come. Both a good and bad mindset to have. It’s good in that I love making goofy strips about monster folks living their day-to-day lives. It’s bad in that I more often than not feel kinda’ terrible trying to monetize it. My hand-wringing over something as simple as the donate button I have o my page is damn near legendary. I had to put stuff on the other side of that button just so my mind would shut up about it. Oddly enough, Patreon comes along years later and really seems to be something that suits me and my situation.
Here’s where you, the reader, come in. I’m looking for your input as you’re the ones most affected. Would you like to see it as a monthly deal or a “Per Update”-type of deal? What kinds of offers would you like? Know that I’m still going to post the strip and I have no real intentions on putting any kind of comic content behind a pay wall. What I am looking to do is give folks a way to help support the this crazy mutual thing we dig and give me a chance to possibly pay some bills without having to take so many slow downs and breaks from the strip.
To add your input, just comment on this strip - No. 320: “Twice” - and I’ll see it (as well as keep it all in one spot over here). Hope to get something good before I attempt to dive in.
'Till next time! = )

A Friendly Reminder that I have stuff for sale
Posted 11 years agoSince I don’t normally talk up money stuff and ways folks can support the voodoo that I do on occasion, I figured now was as good a time as any to remind folks of a few places they can purchase my wares.
- ‘Behold, A Pale Hobby Horse’ — http://www.redbubble.com/people/pro.....orse?p=t-shirt
- Various books over on Gumroad — https://gumroad.com/propheteka
- The House of Amill section over at DriveThru Comics — http://comics.drivethrustuff.com/br.....turers_id=6528
I’m looking at what I have for images that might work as decent product fodder at the moment. Figured I’d give folks a heads up as to what I have out there for sale currently. = )

Agenda 2014 - July to October
Posted 11 years agoPreviously on 'Agenda'

April to June:
- Sketch out a full-size comic book (thumbnails or full pages).
Nope.
- Get the few Monster Girl sketches I have done and posted.
Not yet.
- Hit up a gallery showing or a local convention.
I actually got to some conventions.
Still haven't sat down to work on a non-Biff story. I have a few and well... that's kinda' the problem. When I want to work on 'Night of the Lepus', I get ideas for 'Camp Bear Virus'. When I try to draw updated or new designs for 'Project: Alice', I end up thinking of new ways to fix the original 'Instinctive' story.
What I need to do more than thumbnails or pages is I Need to choose one story and roll with it. -.-
I got lucky enough to get out to both Wizard World Philly and ConnectiCon for a day this year. With as little cash as my friends and I have nowadays, it seems we can get the most out of simply hitting up conventions for a single day. Cheaper than a weekend pass and a couple nights at a hotel breaks the bank far less than one would imagine. I also had enough cash on me to get the items I wanted without going completely nuts and coming home broke. Always a good thing!
Now, without further ado... the rest of the story.

Keep Moving Forward and Relax a Bit.

RedBubble - Yay or Nay?
Posted 11 years agoFor the longest time, I've had places online for folks to buy my work on stuff. I started with CafePress ages ago, then moved over to Zazzle when their production got too expensive. Well... it seems like it's getting to be that time with Zazzle.
Now, I really can't complain about them all that much. The shirt I got from them was nice and it was all of 19 cents with the store credit I racked up from sales. My biggest problem is that price is an issue. They've slowly raised prices over the years while gaining more corporate folks - a double-whammy for folks like myself. I don't post new designs that often and the House of Amill doesn't quite have the eye-catching power of Harry Potter just yet. = P
That said, I'm curious about branching out. RedBubble seems to be a solid choice as their margins are fair, their products look rock solid and I can have products I'd normally have to order a fair quantity of as Print-On-Demand (like die-cut stickers). The question I put to you fine folks is this: Is it worth it for a guy like myself to attempt opening up a shop there? I ask you this in a journal 'cause... well, you can easily glance through my gallery and give me an answer. What you see is pretty much what you'd get if I opened up a new shop.
So what say you? Yay or Nay on an RedBubble shop.
