Midwest Furfest 2012 is over :( but at least I had a blast! this was one of my most fun cons ever! rode all the way to chi-town with Flyinfox and Rico and roomed with Gray wolf, Telford Fox and Yuumei whom I had never met before but they are awesome! on Friday myself and a bunch of other furs went ice skating at a public rink and I finally got to do something I've wanted to do since the day I got a fursuit and that is ice skate with it :) after skating some of us went to a different rink and actually played some hockey which was very fun! I haven't had a chance to see any pictures of the skating but if you find some please link me or share them! I fursuited a bunch but didn't do as much official con activities as normally but thats ok. The only bad part of this con is that I didn't get to spend NEARLY as much time with some friends that I wanted to. everybody always has so much stuff going on at a con it can be hard to just find time to spend hanging out :/ so if you are one of the people I didn't get to spend much time with I'm sorry! also I've found that since this was my first con in a year and I don't get much free time online to chat with people or even browse FA I found that I sort of lost touch with the fandom a bit :( I need to keep up more with news and people so help me out with that. Pester me and bug me until I make time for furries! I have ALWAYS been bad at remembering names of both people and fursuits but this year was even worse! I hate having to read the badges of friends and other suiters when they come up to me. I feel like I have disrespected them but I promise I doesn't mean I don't like you or whatever, I just SUCK at remembering names. Anyway back on track this was one of the best cons I've ever had and I'm so happy to have gotten to see old friends and meet new ones! I hope to see you all again very soon! lets hang out not at a con too!

Lately I have been doing a lot of thinking about who I am when I overhear random people talking about a group of people. Some of these conversations I have overheard lately have been centered around putting a certain group down. but anyway because I overhear these groups say things like "what would ever want to make you do 'X'?" and it made me think of us as furries and why we do what we do. since I don't think there will ever be a single correct answer I thought I'd share a song that said it all as how I see who we are and why we enjoy our fandom and why its not fair to make fun of us. well I have been gone for a while now and had a blast!

Rainfurrest was my first time to Seattle and Washington state and it was nice to add a new state to my list. I got to meet lots of new friends and of course spent some time with great friends I already had :)

did some fursuiting and had lots of fun playing in the fursuit games and gave hugs and all that typical furry convention stuff. got to spend a lot of time with  tocomawhitewolf  lucifur  qmick and  seylyn yea as you have already gathered, I had a good con :)
Please link me or anything if you have any pics of me in suit at the con cause I'd love to see! :D

The con was the culmination of a long trip into Canada I don't even know what day it is today as I've just been taking it to rest but anyway I started by flying to Edmonton to spend some time seeing Alberta and my good friends  wolever and  bloofox It was great to see them again since they moved far away. unfortunately Wolever had to work during the days I was there but thats what life is about :p I guess lots of things in and around Edmonton close after August but still there are some nice things to see. I did the zoo and saw some cool animals including getting much closer to their elephant than most people ever do as they had it out for a walk! I also got to see the last HP movie at the West Edmonton mall and saw a sea lion show there too :p

after some days at their house I jumped onto a train and I was headed west! first stop was in Jasper. Jasper is AMAZING! the scenery is absolutely epic and I must return there someday. the sad part is that I only had a couple hours there so all I could do is visit a few of the touristy shops in town and take a few pictures.

The scenery in the Canadian Rockies is breathtaking and I recommend taking the train to see some of them! I got to see some things that you can ONLY see from the train like Pyramid falls in BC. I also got to have some nice conversations with some other folks on the train from all over the world. After Jasper and many hours I had a quick stop in Blue River B.C. and it is a tiny little village but supposedly has the oldest general store in North America.

we did stop in Kamloops too but it was dark and I didnt get to see anything but a few hours after that I made it to Vancouver!

I stayed at  nitroshep house and also had the pleasure of meeting  foxy_porkchop during my days in BC I was lucky enough to see and do tons of stuff! including a bit of Stanley Park, seeing the Olympic flame, Whistler and riding the peak to peak, getting my ass completely kicked on the Grouse Grind, and did the Capilano suspension bridge and cliffwalk along with all sorts of other cool stuff!

and since I was in Canada, I got to try some new really good beers I can't get here in the states and I even tried Tim Horton's for the first time!

about the only sad part of the trip in BC was that  spark was not able to come join in the fun :( everybody please go wish him a fast recovery from his doctor/hospital visits!

I know that not a great many of you will read this, but I will write it anyway.

recently finished Kyell Gold's sequel to Out of Position, Isolation Play and as the first did a year ago when I read it IP impressed me.

The story picks up just as OOP left off in Dev's coming out press conference. Dev had just shocked the world, not to mention his friends, enemies, and boyfriend Lee by confirming that he was gay, making him the first openly gay professional football player.

The Novel sucks a reader in right away by completely pulling him/her into Dev and Lee's world. although this world is singular as they are together in love, we hear the same story from each of their point of view, as working for different football organizations each of them is in "isolation" which if a reader hadn't figured out from the title of the book is a major theme.

The two narrators alternate chapters one for one throughout almost the entire book, where the other will tell a short time line of events in their perspective, and finish the cliffhanger that the other has left off, most often because by the end of each two chapter couplet our tiger/fox pair are physically together, usually on a weekend, as that's the time they have together. Lee works for the Dragons as a college scout who is assigned to the Northeast territory, while Dev still starts on defense for the Firebirds, so Lee can usually get to Chiveli after his games, or sometimes even get to Dev's away games on sunday.

Dev constantly is dealing with stress issues which we saw him go through in the first book, where outside of football issues cause his play to suffer. Most of his stress is coming from his family rather than his partner in this case. He has grown up by leaps and bounds, however still holds the stereotypical "dumb jock" mentality when he displays is obvious inability to think too far beyond the immediate future, or that he is sometimes incapable of keeping his cool (I hope the cellphone salesman works on commission).

Lee has also grown up a lot for the sequel as his activist side seems to have been put to rest almost completely. He still has an affinity (although barely sexual) for dressing up as a vixen, but slowly he is fading out of this habit too. Lee's problem continues to be his ability to rock the boat in already rough seas. Just as any fox we all met at some point in our lives, Lee has never been able to keep his trap shut at the right times, or just leave well enough alone. This bad habit will end him up in the Hospital with a broken paw, and even in jail and some point.

Together our pair doesn't butt heads nearly as often as we saw in the first book. they seem completely happy with one another (minus a few almost tear jerking tiffs). As always we get some very passionate and descriptive love scenes from our author, and seriously who doesn't love that? but in all this book seemed much less focused on the sex than the first and rather more on the emotional relationship of our heroes. Which are more and more going out together as a couple in public despite some negative thinking from the public, members of the football team, and even family members. But for the most part Dev is still loved by his teammates for his football ability and not hated because of who he loves. Lee is even accepted by the football team members he meets during an off week party. He is able to use his fox-like slyness to keep his cool even in the presence of some of his idols from his favorite football team(for obvious reasons :p)

less drama and worry over our pair in this novel with the easily felt worry over the crap that Brian used to pull to destroy their lives. the struggles we watch our duo go through are very internal to them, which is often seen in the dialogue in "family business is not for the world" or a variation of that. But its hard not to have the public intervene in an private matter when asshole members of the TV press and tabloids keep pushing things to the world that just are not true in all cases. But just as their love is strong, the tiger fox mates overcome and keep each other happy. valuable lessons are learned about family and love. And as a reader I learned that you do not come between a tiger and his thanksgiving dinner! XD

I tried my best to keep it vague in case some of you have not yet read it, but if you have read it, or even just the first one I would be more than happy to discuss either in more detail with you. Or if you feel like waiting I will likely be hosting a round table in-depth discussion on 1 or both of these novels at an upcoming con after being given permission from both the author, Kyell Gold and Sofawolf press back in November.

Ok, so here's the deal. I want to give you guys a shot to help write this story. This idea completely came to me in my dream last night where I wrote the intro to I guess it will be a short story. I also got the idea for this little game in my dream.

Hello world, or rather the probably 8 or less people who will read this. how are you doing? I am not well atm but by the time I finish writing this, things may be different. I cannot sleep tonight because my mind is flooded with very bad and sad memories of my past. My past, and particularly my past in the furry fandom has had a dark black cloud over it. This is in thanks to a select few, but thats not what I'm here to talk about, nor will I even if you ask. But anyway aside from nights like tonight I have been slowly getting better. when I say better I mean where I can actually get out of bed or whatever, or the days where I dont just wish I had never joined furry, or that I had actually died in one of my incidents I have had that could easily have taken my life. Finally after years of trying to find out who I am and make friends that are truly friends and not just phony jackasses who will only use me to get what they want I am actually doing it (I hope). I still am set back by not only those who will only LIE to me just to get what they want, but by those who wont even take the time to lie to me, let alone get to know the real me (this is because they were possibly told lies about me from a third party) but onward time marches.

I recently got to spend a weekend with some of the most wonderful people anybody would ever have the chance to meet. It was the best weekend I have had in a long long time, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those I had the pleasure of spending time with, and I hope we can do it again soon. Also I would like all of you to know you are welcome in my home anytime you want or need.

Also in my weekend I was finally able to have some private time with extended family and tell them I am gay. This has been a long time coming and I had been waiting for an opportunity to do it, which I finally got. I have not yet seen the consequences of this yet, but they dont seem to be bad. hopefully when it gets back to my mom and dad nothing bad will happen. Best case scenario is that they will do their normal thing and not talk to me about it. "ignore it and its not true" :/ ...Now if I only had somebody special in my life for support should I need it.

Do any of you like stories? or know of another who likes stories? If so please let me know. I have been toying around with the idea of writing some furry stories. I haven't written any furry stories that I have ever shared here yet, nor have I written any fiction in quite some time, but I think it may be time. So here's what I want from you: what type of story do you want to see? and what characters do you want? I am more than happy to make up characters, but if you would like to see yours or a friends character in a story then let me know, I may be able to accommodate your wishes. Nothing about this is set in stone.

I have not been around for a while. I'm sure nobody here really noticed, but its true. I dont know when the last update I gave was so Im just going to go through the past few weeks.

Summer dwindling down, work was burning me out big time. I have had no time for any personal activities or socializing.

onto the real things that have happend, other than not seeing my in-town friends hardly ever or even talking to them for that matter I have not had a chance to speak with my out of town friends from college in a while up until about 2 weeks ago. On my only day off in weeks I was woken up early when my old roommate called me. He told me that a good friend of ours had been killed.
Needless to say I was shocked and absolutely heartsunk. That was a friday and since I am basically the only one of us that still lives in town I was all alone. the best thing I could do was cry, pour a drink and say some words to the memory of my friend that weekend. the next monday I worked like 17 hour day until about 2AM, came home and tried to sleep a bit. I got about 2 hours of sleep before I had to be dressed up and on the road at 6AM out to western north dakota for her funeral on tuesday morning. I made it there and just the sight of the church hit me like a ton of bricks. I pulled in and just sat in my pickup trying to pull myself together. I got together with a friend in the parking lot to say our somber goodmornings, when another good friend of ours pulled into the church. This is a friend of mine who was closer than anybody to Mary and I had been worried about him ever since the accident. I had talked to him every day since but when you see a guy who is a big tough guy with no "pussiness" about him get out of his truck with tears already streaming struggling to say good morning to me as he squeezed me in a big hug, you know that A: he was hurting real bad, and B: Mary meant a lot to him. Her funeral was what I would call boring, but if you knew Mary she would have found it just right. She was a quiet person who rarely did the "over the top" type of thing. she was however without a doubt the most intelligent woman I knew. I mean no offense to other women here, but most of you are crazy. especially those women that iv met with higher than average IQ the craziness tends to go up. Mary was so down to earth. last year she finished her Masters degree in Soils and was currently doing some really interesting work studying the movement of specialized hormones in groundwater. doesnt mean anything to most of us I know, but when you geek out like me over stupid stuff like this it can be very cool. ITS SCIENCE!
anyway for those of you that know me and have met me, know that im a very casual, lazy type who wears jeans and a tshirt or a hoodie. yadda yadda if it tells you anything of how much respect I have for her, Mary is one of the ONLY people in the world who has ever got me to wear a tie. unfortunately she didnt get to see it to make fun of me :/ (and she would have). but after her funeral some old friends and I went and had a drink at a local tavern and told some stories about our friend and we all at least got to have a smile and laugh.

anyway thats the big thing that happened lately, and I dont ever want to do it again. Im 24 years old and have burried too many friends. starting sophomore year in high school when one of my good friends passed away from cancer its been happening way too often and im FUCKING SICK OF IT so if any of you out there are planning on partaking in activities that are more dangerous than just walking down the sidewalk I beg you to please be safe. My friend was just killed in an ATV accident, which really made me feel weird because it is my job to send my 8 employees out on ATV's every day. I'm usually the first one to skip safety and just go, but I need to change that.

new topic: a friend of mine recently moved from his home to a new one in a new state and a new town. This is a big deal and I was helping him in the transition period of moving which im happy to do, but with all the stress iv had with my work, school, lack of social life, and medical issues(no I will not go into this so please dont ask) I basically lost my mind. ever since last winter I have been contemplating leaving the fandom simply to try to simplify my life. now, with school starting this week I think I really need to consider taking a break for a while. furry helped me a lot in my life a few years ago, but lately has been a stressor in many cases. I have a lot of furry stuff (plushies, art, fursuit etc..) that may be up for grabs soon. probably not for keeps, but somewhat of "long-term loan" some of the little stuff is no big deal but the special stuff like fursuit will have to go to somebody who really deserves it and will show it the love and respect suits deserve. I will think more on this, and am open to suggestions or input but nothing is written in stone.

I have lots more to update you on but I guess the main thing I wanted to write about was losing my friend, and I miss her. But losing friends who arent dead hurts worse than losing a friend to the reaper, and thats happend a lot to me too. *hugs everybody who reads this* I'm sorry this got to be so long and "emo" but I wanted to get it off my chest.

Ok well this will be kinda short but whatever.

I went to AC and had a lot of fun. there were some really retarded moments with furs but not going into that. all turned out fine in the end.

flew there and roomed with some nice furs and I hope to always be friends with them and all that random stuff.

Met some cool people there too. hung out with my roomies and  nitroshep and  spark mostly but then on saturday I was lucky enough to meet  drraccoon and we hung out until he had to go home and it was super awesome!

I suited a lot and had some fun. did the parade thing which is not really worth spending time talking about but the fursuit games were fun! my team lost but we all had fun. we got really screwed on the charades part. How the fuck to you charade "Barn" in suit? or even out of suit for that matter...

I brought like $1300 worth of photography equipment but did not even take a single picture lol! luckily  tocomawhitewolf used my camera for a time or 2 and took some shots, but he was shooting in RAW and my photoshop has lost its working ability so I cannot post them atm. I will have a friend take my memory card and post what he thinks is good :P But until then if you have any pictures of Prowler please let me know! Id love to see them!!!

but anyway I guess I had fun. This may be my last Anthrocon for at least a few years but who knows. but Thanks everybody for helping it be fun!!
