shows are done...
Posted 10 years agoPosters and Pints show was an incredible mix of fun, drinking, and widely varied artists who all express themselves in various forms of print and poster design. I can't wait to do it again next year...
Northeast Nightmarket turned from an invitation of 3,000, to 21,000 signing up. It was pure chaos, but a lovely sight; and certainly exposed my art to many new (and drunk) people...
CONvergence 2015 is always a great sales space and a well run art show. Should I become worldly famous as a fine artist, I will still bring my art to that event out of loyalty and nostalgia...
Hybrids Poster show went smoothly; met several professionals and was delighted to see who I knew and who they knew and who we each knew but didn't know the other knew, etc...
SO! --Two more large shows ahead, but they're on my terms. So no more holding back new art until the date of the show. Enjoy!
...back to keeping busy...

Posted 10 years agoBeen a while…
I’ve been working up and screen printing old artwork for sale; handling a lot of art events; and settling a lot of old business. All art shows are still local or at least within the state, so it's no big deal. But it's been constant; winter normally knocks the art events down a bit, but not this season; not for me. Nice money maker on the side.
Two major art shows are coming up, and they demand I produce brand new illustrations. I’ve reworked some old concepts, and started many new ones. I cannot exhibit everything, as I am being told to keep some of it under wraps until the actual shows. So… as before, I won’t be posting much till maybe the Summer.
Hope you are all patient.

BACK TO WORK...
Posted 11 years agoI have my free-time back... sort of... back to work -- for my work.
...calm the hell down...
Posted 11 years agoWhen I have more work to post, I will post it here.
Despite the professional gallery shows and other life events, I do not consider myself “above this” website, or it’s viewers.
I didn’t think it necessary to say this, but apparently some fear rejection so much, that a simple absence from certain online areas automatically equals egotism and aloofness.
There are several professionals here. There are several viewers and fans here who have professions higher than mine. That reality can’t escaped me, so I don’t want to hear anymore bullshit rumors making their way back to me about my motives for not posting! Whatever fears of artists or judgement you might have, they’re your fears, not my problems. See to it that it stays that way.
When I have more work to post, I will post it here. :P

Free screen-print poster: identify this music for me!
Posted 11 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQnhUtixTVQ
...wait till 2:10 in the video, and Amon Tobin goes into something beautiful. This is from early into his 'Two Fingers' DJ performance in 2013. When he released that performance (free download), it did NOT contain this track. I've been hunting it ever since I found the YouTube video.
Tell me what it is, and I will send you a screen print poster of your choosing (sorry, Mr. Wiggles is sold out), free shipping and so on.
...now, it's possible this is Amon Tobin's original work, and he's reserving it for the next album release due out later this year. If that's the case, you're all out of luck. But if not -- let me know. Please.

Recovery/catch-up -- back to work...
Posted 11 years agoAfter getting knocked flat by a severe cold, turned lung-infection -- I am now on the mend and playing catch-up.
This seems to happen every other year, thanks to the harsh environment of the twin cities: a beautiful place that makes an honest attempt to kill you at least twice a year. So no worries for me; while I'm tired of this shit, I'm also used to it.
With some new art in play, I will be going back to screen printing these and a few other older illustrations.
Main goals are to prepare for The Unicorn Art Show, ArtCrank: Minneapolis, Pancakes & Booze -- while at the same time, working my way back into several open shows coming this summer, including a print-themed show I will be helping to organize myself.
...I need help thinking up a name for the print show's title.
In the meantime, I still have artwork to complete for Silvergrin, Fenris, Tugrik... anyone I'm forgetting?
*cough*

Amon Tobin / Two Fingers -- live and free download...
Posted 12 years agoMy muse did it again.
After his audio AND visually stunning ISAM 2.0 performance, he went on tour as his alter ego, Two Fingers, for 2013.
Now he's back in the studio for the year to cook up his next album. In the meantime, as with past DJ sets, he's released his recording as a free download.
See a sample of his performance here:

Nearing year anniversary of move to screen printing...
Posted 12 years agoI can't believe it never occurred to me to poster the results of my screen printing...
I've uploaded some of them into the scraps folder. After Midwest Furfest, it appeared that the furry community was very happy to see screen printed artwork in their fandom. Granted, maybe only half the poster art I make now has any furry theme, but the examples posted should show that -- like the art links I've posted here -- there is a spot for furry themed art in the arts community -- if handled correctly for a wider audience.
About the posters: all are around 16x20-inch in coverage on a sheet of 18x24-inch paper. To get the best paper for the best price, I use French Paper -- 100-pound cover (AKA: above card-stock in thickness). The posters are usually a run of 50, limited, and numbered; numbers count from best in quality to least. Posters numbering 1 through 10 are usually best quality, and sell for collector price ($50 to $80); the last five to ten posters are usually not fit for sale, and given as gifts or whatever. When I run out of posters, I may print more, but what I really hope is that I will be too busy printing new art to care to do so.
Currently, I carry most of the posters for sale, and sell a few through two local shops. The prices range from $15 to $30 for the posters. The irony is that a decent 18x24-inch picture frame is worth twice that. Really, these are meant to be "disposable", meaning, if they are destroyed, don't cry over it.
If anyone is interested -- you can see me posting production updates as they happen on Istagram; you can find more either on DeviantArt.com, or on my Facebook page. If you wish to place an order, message me here, but for MUCH faster results, e-mail me at -- pseudomanitou[at]gmail.com
Generally -- if you google the phrase "pseudo manitou", it should show you everything I got online.

Midwest Furfest...
Posted 12 years agoThanks to the generosity of DJ Fenris *cough* even though I still have not finished his art *cough* I will have artwork at Midwest Furfest.
No, I will not be at Midwest Furfest. Maybe next year if I can find more reasons to go other than selling art (I'm already up to my eyeballs doing that here in the twin cities).
This will be the first time that a majority of my SCREEN PRINTING will be on sale. Yay.
Let me know what you think of it when you see it in person. If you know how difficult it is to keep posters in registration in screen printing, let me know how I'm doing with that. If you don't know shit about screen printing… well, I'll still read your comment.
NOTE: these posters are randomly selected out of print runs of 50. YES, there are additional ones you can buy, so DO NOT go into a bidding war when it's only going to cost you five dollars more for shipping. Thanks.
If anyone has any other questions for me during the con, feel free to speak up through e-mail.

Still working, just... not always on furry stuff
Posted 12 years agoBusy-busy-busy. The Summer here = art-show-season, so I've been setting up gallery spaces with… mixed results. Sometimes nothing sells, some days, enough sells to let me consider home-remodeling projects.
I've also been going strong on screen printing up the artwork. Not all of it falls under the furry theme, but it still applies, so check out my Etsy page if you're interested in something more 'collector' and 'fine art': http://www.etsy.com/shop/pseudomani.....ef=seller_info
…Squat screen posters will be added to the line-up soon.
One of my large drawing pads has gone missing/stolen, so some of the images I was working on are on hold until I figure a way to transfer the photos I took of the missing sketches.
Only recently have I had time to get back to drawing. Check my Scraps section to see what's coming.
I still owe five favors and one commission… which I believe I will be starting over.
I still have a contract with the local roller girl teams, and three professional commissions (does it need to be said?: they pay MUCH more). And I still have at least three art shows left to run through. So don't expect to see finished artwork till October.
If you're reading this, thank you for hanging on.

SCREEN PRINTING
Posted 12 years agoSo where have I been? Busy on a few commissions, but mostly -- switching up from digital printing to screen printing.
Three print runs so far -- Barfin' Bows, Mr. Wiggles, and Harsh Insight -- all 18x24-inches in size, with inset designs covering around 17x21-inches of area.
The prints range from excellent to piss-poor. I'm told people appreciate the imperfections as part of the print craft; I intend to just get better and sell prints accordingly to their quality. Perfect prints are in reserve either for individuals or for art showing. I've uploaded samples of the posters with their quality ranges in my DA scraps archive here:
http://pseudo-manitou.deviantart.co.....catpath=scraps
Pricing is set at $35/$30 for the decent prints…
…and $20 for the lesser prints.
Contact me however you can if you are interested.

MidWest Furfest 2012
Posted 13 years agoMy artwork will be hanging in the MidWest Furfest Art Show this month.
I will NOT be at the convention however.
A very generous individual has volunteered to act as my agent in trade for commission -- Fenris (AKA: DJ Fenris). I'm sure he is willing to be friendly and chat while he is hanging my art, but he will most likely not have any answers to questions that would be best directed at me -- so please don't pester him if you can simple e-mail/comment/message me online. I'm approachable, even if a little blunt in my communication.
As for the art -- all are 16x20-inch posters, printed for this occasion. There might be more prints made of those exact pieces, there might not. I would recommend you NOT get into any bidding wars over these posters. I will consider making more prints on request, so all you would really be fighting for in a bid-war is the amount of time it would take to get a poster from me.
The posters are seven-color digital prints on a gloss paper, semi-archival, but NOT UV-ink (don't hang them in the sunlight if you don't want them to fade over time). They are in plastic sleeves with some seriously tough cardboard backing them, IOWs, easily transportable. I hope you enjoy them.
Again, any further questions can be directed at me.
Thanks.

more than eight arms can handle... reasonably...
Posted 13 years agoOnce again, I have to apologize to four commissioners that have been waiting patiently for the final portion of their artwork. At this point, everything has been inked and vectorized, and awaits the design/color stage.
Two very large commissions have bumped everyone back down. However, they are rush jobs, so they'll be gone soon.
Meanwhile, this summer is not over. I'm down five relatively successful art shows, with three more to go. It should all wrap up by mid September. BUT THEN! I'm enrolled in silk screening classes. (Yes, a vegan using silk screens -- I'll ask if there are other options, but if not, I'll be breaking my discipline for the sake of advancing poster production technique.) That will not end till the start of November.
I should have all commissions taken care of by then.
In the meantime, it would not be responsible to take on any more commissions.
So... maybe hang on to Xmas money, and I'll try to be available then -- unless I also win the fine-arts grant I've applied for... in which case, I have no clue what I'll be doing. But I'll continue to post art here if it is relevant.

I'm still here; still working on art.
Posted 13 years agoCommissions haven't exactly piled up, by I do feel guilt for taking advantage of my more patient clients.
I actually took a week off my design job just to wrap some old shit up. There will be a flood of work posted, and then… I don't know. It's the gallery show season -- so I will be busy simply selling old art, rather than making new art. Making a play at fine arts is paradoxical that way...

More artist websites...
Posted 13 years agoThis list is normally longer -- but since the artists previously listed are doing well, the arts related news I use to hunt down these links are pretty much just full of repeated discussion with artists you might have already look into. But that's a good thing...

Posted 13 years agoI am here on business.
Drama doesn't bring in money.
There are people on FA who DO know me personally. Take a guess why only the people who DO NOT know me are scrambling for the high-dive platform derpflip-everyone-look-at-me-tumble into a pool of stupidity.
Seriously -- it's embarrassing to watch. Find your own life and live it.

greeted by icons...
Posted 13 years agoIt's a shame that I can only review the watchers list over again as a list of text.
The wall of icons and animated icons I first received when I started my account was probably one of the most entertaining things I've viewed online since I can remember.

Progress...
Posted 13 years agoI have completed
3 full commissions
1 dance poster
1 band t-shirt/poster (not furry)
2 event posters (not furry)
5 sporting event posters (not furry)
2 badges
This, was after opening up only 4 commission slots a little over four months ago. That was unexpected. But I am very happy with that response. I have been rather busy, though certainly not as productive as I had hoped.
Currently -- I still owe:
2 full commissions
2 sporting event posters
1 favor (full commission)
I'll just say that -- yes, I have commission slots open now. However, whoever comes after the next waits longer.
So there we are.

Something found, now for sale to highest bidder...
Posted 14 years agoYears ago, I added my efforts to this project: http://bestiarycards.com/
I got my card decks, and sold them out rather quickly. But over the recent holiday, deck #483, out of the 750 printed, turned up with the Xmas decorations. The card have not been used, and are crisp. The card case has a few scratches.
(Fun challenge: take this deck of cards to cons, and see if you can get all the artists to sign one of their cards.)
Last I heard, these were sold for $28.
I'm not looking to get rich off this finding, but I am still trying to substitute portions of my monthly budget till April.
So... I'd like to offer this to the highest bidder in this journal. Mailing costs will be included.
I'll close this bidding this coming Friday (January 20).
Thanks.
