First FWA was fun
Posted 5 months agoSomeone took a dookie in the skybridge :1 Can we get an F in chat for the custodian, he looked so distraught when we told him
I also traded a bunch of misc prints and prototype pins for goodies (there were TWO trinket trading panels!)
The next con I intended to go to was MFM to try out vending, but their website was broken and I literally couldn't register or contact someone about it because that was also broken :(
I would like to try again next year

FWA parking question
Posted 7 months agoI think I should ask this now instead of a week before the con lol
Where is a good place to park our vintage rustbucket so it doesn't get broken into or have our cool fish license plate stolen? I did try looking at lots and most don't have a functional website let alone several day reservation it seems...
We are staying at the westin and its like 40/day for valet only which is steep!

Moving soon!
Posted 12 months agoIf you're planning on ordering something from my Etsy store, pls get the order in before mid november! The store will close late nov or early dec so there's less of a rush for my non made to order items
We will be visiting the new place next week and passing through Columbus and Cincinnati on the I71/275, if you know any good places to eat there I'm all ears :y gonna need sustenance for a 15hr drive
Also we will likely not attend FWA next year because I had to spend the money getting my teeth fixed lel. Instead I will try to invest in selling at smaller cons later in the year

Furrydelphia was fun! FWA next?
Posted a year agoWe stayed in an airbnb this time because iirc it was cheaper than the hotel but also like a mile away, we wanted to make suits for next time so it might not be worth it then lol. I noticed a lot of artists would put business cards on some tables in the hallway, I would have brought some had I known it was allowed (I only have like 8 left anyway). Is this a thing at all furcons? Nice feature if so.
Since we are moving closer to fwa soon, we are going to try there next, any advice will be appreciated. Gonna be a big jump from a 3k attendance con to 17k but I imagine we wont have any downtime with that. I also wanted to try selling at a con at some point, the application for fwa implies the price is daily but I'm not sure if it's only for the artist alley raffle or all tables. Either way I need to make more products before doing it

Commissions are back for a while
Posted a year agoTl;dr opening again because I would like to make back some of the money we spent lol, will post an info journal shortly
Yesterday was quite hectic. We got a sweet deal on a small boat, lugged it home in the most ghetto way possible, then drove all the way to NJ for a folding trailer because harbor freight stopped selling them in PA (because it's such a pain to register them here). Anyway we may have spent too much money but now the fish can't hide from me and we can stop losing gear in the weeds. If anyone has any exp with those haul master trailers and Maine registration(aka the legal loophole for trailers) I'm all ears

Furrydelphia
Posted 2 years agoWe intend to go this year. My husband has never been to a con and I've never been to a furcon so its gonna be a new exp for both of us. I had a few questions for those that have gone before
- How early can/should we get tickets and lodging? we plan on staying 3 days
- How much are the hotels on average?
- Would you suggest driving there or taking a bus? With parking fees it would probably cost the same from Scranton, I suppose old rustbucket will be safe in paid parking but idk
- Anything we should def look into at a con outside of parties?
A more silly question but does anyone know a carnivore friendly place to eat in that area? Otherwise he's just gonna eat cheese/salami and I think that's ridiculous >:(

New twitter
Posted 2 years agoI had to abandon my old one because it asks for a password reset but cant verify because I used a phone number to make the acc and you cant receive sms unless you simp for them sooooo
https://twitter.com/SapientDreaming
I wanted sapientdreams but despite there being no acc under that name its "claimed" also the site keeps thinking I'm a robot I have verified 5 times
I feel like posting on like 2 websites is bad for growth but I refuse to use anything new lmao

Updatez
Posted 2 years agoHi. it's been a while I guess
We cut our hours at work so my husband can focus on learning code, and I'm using the extra time to focus on making fun stuff.
A good amount of people have asked if I could sell my files. I've been hesitant due to recasters but it seems the other makers have been faring just fine so I decided to join the club, selling files alongside prints and having a subscription for those that want to sell scaled up/different colored versions. I had a few larger doll designs I've slacked on finishing simply due to how long it would take to print, so this is a good compromise I think. I also wanted to make some fanart dolls and didn't want to get axed for copyright, so those will be sold as file only on my Cults when I make them
I updated my patreon and am open to suggestions on better perks and such. I don't really like having exclusive downloads tho, imo it just encourages leaks :/ maybe when there's a more sizable following idk
Store link, right now it's just Wolfie and Luka, I'll be adding the others over the next few days

Got an apartment/store reopening soon!
Posted 3 years agoPretty close to my job too, of course the next day they reduced the hour cap by half but I might get a second job nearby so whatever I guess, should only last a few weeks hopefully. Kinda glad I don't have to rely on commissions anymore since I'd actually have to pay taxes on what little money I'd make now. Also if anyone was unable to make use of the Etsy sale before I abruptly closed, I will be making another when I reopen :)
All my supplies are still in storage 33mi away so we won't have much to do until Sunday. Might pick up some free Craigslist furniture while we have the truck, adopt don't shop haha.
Also as I write this we have no electricity lol, we moved in so fast over the weekend there wasn't a chance to set it up
Oh yeah some more things I learned white being homeless lite, get a PO box at ups instead of USPS, it costs more but they don't gatekeep you for not having a lease or car registration in your name, also it's an actual address so when you need to get car insurance they won't reject you for not having a "physical" address (people who live in their car are supposed to just get fined because they weren't allowed to get insurance until they have a home I guess??)

Got a job!
Posted 4 years agoOnly took 28 years but I finally have a "real job". Kinda sucks that the only one that considered me is a company that pretty much hires everyone that applies :( but I'd rather run around a warehouse all day than get yelled at by customers so its fine, I like to stay busy
They sent the employee benefit card IN THE MAIL and I hope it doesn't say my worksite cause I don't need my sis spamming them. Also I can't seem to find and redeem the shoe voucher >:(

Moved faster than I thought
Posted 4 years agoIt was just too toxic there so we bailed as soon as we had enough, currently staying at an Airbnb for a month(it's a good option if you need a place quick but can't quite afford utilities or a security deposit). This place is too nice to use my printer so it's going into storage (I'll have some new designs when I'm back in business)
I do have my computer so I'll still be able to do commissions, I may be delayed a bit since I lost my wifi adapter and have some old one that might not work, might just take stuff I can do on my ipad
Also I hate box trucks

Posted 4 years agoHey frens, I intend to move in the next few months and created a coupon for my esty to help reduce the amount of things I need to pack. I also moved most of my storenvy shop over to etsy too since I get more reach there.

Update on computer
Posted 4 years agoI got a new gpu and it still doesn't work, I was close to the max wattage and figured maybe I need more power so I got a new higher wattage PSU. That didn't work either and it turns out my computer just refuses to use those with external power now???¿ Fren tested my cards and they both work just fine on his pc. My motherboard is really old and I haven't replaced it simply because it's so expensive since I'd need new ram and CPU if I wanted anything current age.
I hate this!!! I just want to play the jellybean game at more than 10fps :(
I hate this!!! I just want to play the jellybean game at more than 10fps :(
My gpu died lol
Posted 4 years agoIt was fine last night and this morning no signal, I swapped it with the old one that came with the computer and I'm mostly back in business but its a massive downgrade. Some programs tanked in quality and my screen is now a little oversaturated for some reason. The real victim is that I can no longer play the jellybean game even on low settings :(
The gtx 1060 is now almost double what I paid for it lol, gpus are stocks at this point
Anyway in other news I have a new bjd soon, well 3 including 2 in progress, which will likely be delayed since my slicer runs like a potato now
Posting updates feels weird

Taking 2 bjd commissions! [claimed]
Posted 5 years agoI think I got the craft down enough to take customs, but these first few will still be reduced price so I can gauge how long it actually takes. I might take 3-4 if some are stl only
I currently have 2 options (these are only base prices and may increase if the character is complex):
Small - 5in tall. 10 default points of articulation(11 with tail). base price includes a small 1 part tail, longer tails will be split. Can add poseable wings. Eyes can be a permanent attachment or interchangeable, I can add magnets onto the feet for better stability. I can use wolfies joints as a base or this modified one with articulated elbows/knees instead of hands/feet
.stl file - $50+ | Just the files, good if you have your own printer and want to finish yourself.
blank - $80+ | cleaned and assembled print.
painted - $100+ | assembled and painted.
extra head - $10, $15 painted
Medium - 8in tall, 14 default points of articulation(17 with tail). base price includes a 3 part tail that can be made into more if desired. Can add poseable ears/wings, horns, and removeable eyes. Anatomical accuracy at request. Made similar to this but you can have plantigrade legs
.stl file - $80+ | Just the files, good if you have your own printer and want to finish yourself.
blank - $120+ | cleaned and assembled print.
painted - $150+ | assembled and painted.
extra head/hands - $10, 15 painted
Other info
- Shipping is $5 within the US and $15 elsewhere
- Turnaround time is 3-4 weeks depending on materials needed
- Blanks are whatever color I have in my vat at the moment or white, you can request a specific color for an additional $5. At this time it cannot be a dark shade.
- I don't make clothing/wigs, but you are more than welcome to have someone else make customizations! I can make sculpted hair as long as it's short or tied up.
- Please note: these are 3d printed, you may see print lines in some places. Do not keep parts submerged in acetone or sunlight, it with degrade the resin!
- Thick tails that don't reach the ground may throw off the dolls balance, feet magnets can fix this.
- Just like with my other commissions, orders over $100 do not need to be paid in full upfront
LIMITED TIME OFFER: I have a selection of 12mm cabochon eyes that your doll can be fitted for, seen here. I have blanks too so if you want one but not any of those just ask! Not recommended for dolls you want to use standard domed eyes for later on
Speaking of eyes, I ordered eye molds and domed cabochons 2 months ago and they never arrived so eyes will be printed and domed or just a painted sphere if the buyer prefers that
I think that's everything :v

LIMITED TIME OFFER: I have a selection of 12mm cabochon eyes that your doll can be fitted for, seen here. I have blanks too so if you want one but not any of those just ask! Not recommended for dolls you want to use standard domed eyes for later on
Speaking of eyes, I ordered eye molds and domed cabochons 2 months ago and they never arrived so eyes will be printed and domed or just a painted sphere if the buyer prefers that
I think that's everything :v
Finally got a printer! [and I sorta fixed the issue]
Posted 5 years ago[edit] I'm dumb to expect plain paper to do a good job. I realized the printer came with a few sheets of glossy paper and everything looks better. Kinda sucks cause my plan was to print stickers alongside mailing labels but the adhesive paper is matte, so I guess I'll have to just avoid certain blues when designing.

SO yesterday I was at walmart and while my sister was scanning like every item looking for secret sales I checked printers to see if instore prices are as ridiculous as online. Managed to find a single pixma ts8322 for $90, prob a little inflated but that's as good as I'm getting.
Anyway after setting it up I did a print of some cat/dog stickers and found I'm still plagued by darkened cyan: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....98/unknown.png
Another thing is when printing from the pc things are always lighter. This was an issue with the old printer too, like the only way I could get pure black to print was if I printed it from word???(imagine importing a shipping label into word just so it prints properly lol). Black prints fine now tho. If I print from an sd card the colors are deeper but cyan is still messed up
I know its a color space/management issue but no amount of tweaking seems to help and I'm getting weary wasting paper and ink u_u
I found a few threads of ppl having the same problem but ofc there was no solution given

New budget printer recommendations?
Posted 5 years agoUpdate: apparently printers are inflated af rn. Prices are at least 200%, guess I'll hold off for now :(
I've been looking to replace my old and awful printer that cost $30 back in 2014, mainly for printing mailing labels but also stickers! My budget is $150-170 and it must use individual color cartridges.
I was looking at this. and this. The epson seems best but people say it uses a lot of ink(which is expensive, even offbrand) and has cartridge drm apparently... but dat toploader scanner/dual papertray. I might just go with the canon cause cheaper printer/operating cost, even though it's one of those "you need color to print b&w" ones
(I'm not buying them on amazon btw, other vendors have them much cheaper)

I got a 3d printer!
Posted 5 years agoI actually got it a month ago but it took that long to get the resin for it. This means any sculpture commissions can be printed by me in high detail resin for less than it would had you gone somewhere else. Debating on whether or not to take just regular printing orders(as in I'll print any model you provide) just yet.
Currently printing a cool lizard bjd, part 3/5 is almost done. I want to make bjds but need to make sure this water washable resin is strong enough first.
Also the whole apt stinks of resin now :(

Art twitter
Posted 5 years agoI reluctantly made an art twitter https://twitter.com/psycho_nauticB
It will likely just be personal art with an occasional commission batch
how do advertise art without sounding like a shill i may never know

Commissions closing in a week
Posted 5 years agoI'm taking a trip to the city and wont be available from the 7th-16th, just a heads up ツ
A lil change in my commissions
Posted 6 years agoI added an "experimental" variant to my 5-6 color stuff, It will have more detail and look closer to my animal portraits(like the fancy cat/sun deer). You will have to specify that you want this variant when requesting. In general I want to make stuff more fluffy and animalistic. Also probably not an issue for 90% of here but for now humans characters cannot be done in this variant because I'm really no good at making them detailed as of yet u_u
Both variants be the same price for now, but once I have enough practice the experimental will go up... maybe idk.
In general I'd like to close the gap in looks of my commissioned and original art. Personally I feel it looks watered down if not over-influenced by whatever references I'm given, a bad habit stemming from a small fear of disappointing a client because I didn't follow the reference to every tiny detail, including the style it was drawn in :/
Also I removed painted commissions because I don't like how they look and all those patterns hurt my hand lol. I think i'm better at cel shading and want to focus on perfecting it.

Back in business
Posted 6 years agoAfter idk how long I'm finally settled into the new place. My store is open again, and I'll have a new birdie up later today, plus some other stuff I've been meaning to scan.
...that's all I really had to say :1
