Terminator: Genisys and Jurassic World first impressions.
General | Posted 10 years agoNo, I'm not going to write, "Furst" fuck you.
Finally caught up on watching Terminator: Genisys and Jurassic World. Decent reboots each one. Both had a huge pothole here and there. I think I liked TG more then JW.
TG: Took a huge steaming dump on the previous movies with the new timeline. But I liked it. This is Arnuld in top form. The kind of terminator we want him to be. The T-800, nothing beats a classic. Not the T-850 like in T3 where he was just a cold asshole to a whiny John Connor.
I didn't like the casting choices for Connor or Reese. But Reese eventually grew on me. And I liked the new dynamic of instead of it being a father son thing a daddy daughter thing. Pretty much forcing it to be Sarah is the new John. The new chick, she's alright, but she didn't get to do much character development. I found Kyle a more interesting character than Sarah. I was hoping for it to be all taking place in 1984. But no, modern day. And I'm totally right again how the only thing that really changes in reboots is the cell phone models used in the movies.
I did like the chase scenes, they were very good. And with all the digital stunts Arny never looked out of place flopping around going through walls. Although I am growing wary of seeing people smashed through walls. And time travel everywhere, so much Dr.Who showed up! Wow, Matt smith sounds so... emasculated with an american accent. I guess with movie stars going to the small screen the made for TV actors have to fill in for them.
Jurassic World. It was good. I am growing tired of the "The military needs a superweapon!" plot device. And the Imdaonius Rex was scary but it seems like every dinosour with sharp teeth has only two emotions, psycho and hungry. Seriously, they are aggressive 24/7. Even great white sharks have a cool down/chill time where they aren't trying to kill everything that moves. I mean I get it, they're dangerous. But we don't need to see a tiger constantly eating to know it's wild.
I like the whole busy business woman loves business and passes off her family for business. I didn't get it when the park owner got mad at the scientist for... Doing his Job! I mean, everyone wanted bigger, deadlier, and they got it. In that debate I was totally on the scientist's side in the argument. They've been filling in blank spots since the beginning, that's was made the shit storm in the first one. But instead of gender swapping dinofrogs we have Predator... predators.
And another thing, the fucking raptors. Aside from being pissed off non-stop. How they just switch sides so fluidly just didn't sit well with me. Even the most trained dog or whatever isn't gong to switch sides once it sees a bigger whatever. I mean, yeah, they chatted, but as animals Indominuus Rex could have asserted her dominance more realistically than talking the Raptors to her side. At least fight first, or hump!
And the Dominus grew up in captivity, it shouldn't be that resourceful a killer. I get instincts and shit. Being bigger and teethy-er. Doesn't mean you'll win every fight. It's like, "Oh I love fight and killing, I Love Love LOOOVE IT!" Sometimes, I'm like, oh that's Bull shit!
And watching Kingpin and Starlord arguing stuff is cute. I guess Universal is catching Marvel droppings. I love Bryce Dallas Howard but this one, she was just there. And Starlord is just more of the same. But I liked it. I thought I wouldn't like the kids but they're believable as kids to me.

Yiff and loathing in SA.
General | Posted 10 years agoI was reading the Bible.. Well, Thinking of reading the Bible. Maybe not the Bible-Bible.
I really like using the word YIFF every chance I get. I don't cuss around my fur friends anymore. It's just, "Son of a yiff! Oh By the Power of Yiff! Those Yiffing yiffers, Yiff Yiff." I can see everyone is getting rather annoyed with it. Too bad I can't stop. I'm on a quest to take the word back!
Other than that I'm having a lot of fun with my fur friends. It's nice. Sure, there's drama here and there. But these people are there. I mean, my steam douche friends and cosplay douche friends were always busy with their own self important quests chasing con after con that they never had time to just hang out. Unless I was somehow useful to them costume building or some shit. And these people know how to have fun. It's not a bunch of pretentious self serving bullshit.
I mean, when I'd hang out with my “comic book artist” friends. I had to put up with people so full of themselves. Full of themselves and with the brittlest of egos. They just couldn't handle their own medicine. And you weren't important to them unless you served as a step stool for their own “career” of drawing fan art. With the furs, yeah they are my peers, my equals, but they aren't there to show boat. Most I've had experience with do their art for fun. There are different disciplines of art and crafts, drawing music, fursuiting. But very few, as far as I can tell, lord over each other. I mean you have a few awkward ducklings, but not enough to cripple the fun. Of the different skill levels, few are “I'm better than you!”
It's nice to see people that have lives between Cons. I'm so tired of “Are you this this to this con?” And if you weren't the conversation was over. Furs go to cons, but they go for fun. Some get involved but don't try too hard to make it revolve around them.
I've always been a furry, but it's nice to know that there are others out there. I mean, who aren't freakos.

TFF 2015 con stuffs (Wisdom)
General | Posted 11 years agoOf all my time going to Cons, I would have to say TFF is where I applied the most of my wisdom and shit as it paid off.
First, If you have a noisy roommate as I did, invest in a comfy sleep mask and earplugs. At TFF there were a few vendors/artists selling unique sleep masks, but I already had my own. Earplugs, I brought some from work, but if you need any on the spot, most hotel's general store will carry some.
Get the Thursday and Monday before and after work off to allow yourself to take your time and decompress after. I'm not a young buck anymore and can't bounce back like I used too. Taking those few extra days are really soothing in the best way. It was nice to hang out at the hotel for an extra day and not have to be busy during Sunday when everyone else was trying to do everything else all at once.
Be weary of stinky con goers. ...Uh yeah. So someone decided it would be cute to get me an "Certified Undecided" badge. I wore it because I thought it was cool. It was until it attracted the attention of a few stinky con goers. I was heading up to the front desk to ask about pizza delivery. These two stinkers I guess were checking out or something where they had business with the front desk started talking to me as if to try and help me "Decide" my fursona on the spot. Thanks for the help and good intentions, but please shower or something.
Drifter fur. I get we all part of the same yiffy fur-fag family and stuff. But Have some damn plans on how you will get to and fro. This one guy was like trying to hit up people, myself included for a ride. He just needed to go East. Even after hearing, No we are going South. He still tried to hitch a ride. East and South are two different directions last I heard. But really, just because we are all in the same fandom doesn't give you the right to just beg for hand outs and crap. Grow up and be responsible and plan things out better.
Yiff! If your going to do a panel, don't suck at giving panels. There were a few sour panels, but they were few. Adults only usually meant a panel was going to be fun! Not exactly this year. Some were just rinse and repeat of previous year panels, and some, well, not a lot was going on.
And have fun, spend time with your friends and do things together. It's great to get together and just have lunch. Simple things like that can add mileage to the adventures of fun you'll have with your con going experience.
Room parties, know your limit. Don't puke.
Post Con Depression. I get it, I understand and empathize with you on this. I know that this type of event you'd most like feel it hit harder and faster. Because unlike most cons this is one that's, let's face it, tailored specifically for you. So, keep in touch with the friends you've made and continue the pursuit of the fun activities like at the con that you enjoyed with your friends. Especially if they live near you. If they are long distance, write them, communicate. Keep in touch.
I had tons of fun. It was like going to an anime con, without the anime and just fun peeps. And no Diva uppity cosplayers. I know there were a few, but they weren't annoying and crowding and blocking the hallways with their egos and obnoxiousness.
Yiff out!

TFF 2015
General | Posted 11 years agoUgh, I haven't done a journal in so long I forgot how.
Figured it out. TFF Was a great vacation and thing to do with friends. I Really needed it. I got hang out with friends I hadn't seen in a long time and those I do see around but don't get to spend much time with. It was nice to stay an extra day and not be hauling ass out of there during Sunday when everyone else was hauling ass out. The rest of the con was good. There were a few of the adult only panels that kindah sucked, but in a bad way. And some other panels were fun. But what I really enjoyed was just hanging out at the corral and just drawing with other artists and stuff. That was a lot of fun. Saw a lot of awesome fur suits and costumes.
A few people's badge art reflected the theme. Next year's theme is Bayou something. I imagine nuclear rednecks and stuff. Oh well, doesn't sound too exciting to me. The next big thing for me is going to be San Japan. Everything else, I'm not really all that excited for. I just don't feel excited for much of anything too much. We'll see how things turn out. :)

San the Japan
General | Posted 12 years agoOk, so I finished watching birds of prey, epic tears.
Now onto painting for San Japan 6. I can't wait. But I has too.
oh I should mention, Secret phrase still in affect if you want a free sketch!!!
That's right, use the secret phrase and just walk up to me at SJ6 and say it and I'll give you a free sketch.
I have one panel, "Super sketch art fight turbo!" 10pm Saturday! Check your schedule and guidebooks.
Later furfags!

Friendly Update 8-4-13
General | Posted 12 years agoIt's been awhile since I've posted anything. I really think I should post an update every once in awhile and just talk about life and going-ons. I mean why not, that's what journals are for.
Ok, Most recently Ama-con happened in Amarillo, TX. It was a huge turn out and I was pretty busy through out the whole show. It's one of those shows, I just wish I could pack up all my steampunk/furhead/comic friends and take them with me. It was out there pretty far north. That 8:30 hour drive wasn't that bad since I left in the middle of the night and drove all night. It was so pleasant and peaceful I enjoyed it. Everything ran perfectly when I hit Amarillo. Next time I should leave a day early so I could enjoy some time hanging out with the steampunk scene there. I did so well at that con it was unreal.
My Steam pets portraits were well received. Unexpectedly my S-pets seemed to really strike a cord with, get this, Hetalia Fans. No, I'm serious. I think it's the military uniform I put the cats and dogs in sometimes. They would point and laugh, "Oh, this one look like Germany." and etc. I thought that was cute.
Con-wise, San Japan is the next big show coming up. I can never get a table there so I don't bother. But I found another method of making $$$ that I prefer to be honest. You see, they have a huge Art Auction. I submit a bunch of paintings. They go pretty fast and I don't have to worry about manning a table. Sure I may not make as much money as I would at a table, but I don't have to pay for a table, which costs money. Nor do I have to man it, which costs time. I guess I prefer to run around and have fun and make a little money then have the table and have hardly and time for fun while not really knowing how much I would make since I'd have to worry about traffic, table placement, etc factors. Art Auction for me. I prefer my play time at SJ.
Personal-wise. Had a fun time hanging out with friends and stuff. I hardly get time for fun, friends or drawing. It's like I go to work, come home and sleep, then do it all over again. I hardly have the energy or drive to draw. I think next year I'll cut the number of cons and events I do. I want to focus on making comics again. I love story telling and I want to get back into that. Fan art and cons are fun, but it's not really for me 24/7. I'll still attend cons, but won't always have a table.
Can't wait til summer is over and things calm down a little for me. After SJ will be Alamo City Comic con. ACCC should be the last show I vend for the year. I'm excited.
