Big update, got a lot to unpack so grab a drink.
Posted 2 years agoThis update has been long over due. I know I don't do a lot of interacting on here, but I still feel I should keep ya'll in the know.
on the 17th of April our house caught fire, neighbors next door saw and had already called it in before rushing over and banging on our door. I was in bed attempting to sleep when I heard the commotion, hearing "The fire's spreading fast" was all the context I needed to already be up and dressed by the time someone came to "wake" me. The fire was in the back, went out the side to inspect and didn't even have to going fully around the corner to see just how bad it was. The entire outer walls of the back porch and master bedroom were completely engulfed with the roof quickly about to follow.
So I ran back in, thankfully everyone else had already gathered to get out, we scooped up my brothers dog and got out just as the fire department arrived. Thankfully we got out ok and no one was hurt. Bro and I tried going back in for the cats but the fire fighters blocked us, insuring they'd look for them.
Sadly only 1 of the 3 cats made it, the other 2 could not be found in time.
By the time the fire was finally out, it was dark and very little was saved.
Ironically the master bedroom, and all the rooms on that side of the house, received the least amount of damage and had the most that could be salvaged. Sadly my room did was not so lucky.

A lifetime of collecting movies, games and books, all gone in mere moments.
we packed up what we could into the van and drove off looking for a pet friendly hotel where we stayed for about a week until our insurance(State Farm) got us rooms at a much better place(The Hampton Inn). They actually got to us sooner but we'd already paid the full week at the other place and didn't want to waste what little money we had left.
Side note: Don't ever stay at a Super 8, it doesn't matter how desperate you are or what little money you have, sleeping in a ditch would be more preferable. Longest sleepless week of my life.
the next week or so was just us running around getting necessities, paperwork/calls with insurance, getting me a new CPap and buying new clothes. We had to give our surviving cat, Silk, to a friend to watch, as pet friendly as the Hampton is we didn't like having to keep her in a kennel at all times while Ein(bro's Corgy) got to roam the room freely.
And this is where we have been since. Bro and I share a room while Mom gets her own.
After the investigation, Insurance ruled the fire an accident and we got the full amount. Currently we're trying to find a new place, preferably a place closer to town, but not having a lot of luck since places are either more expensive than worth or need more work to justify the cheap cost.
I will not be moving with them, instead I'll be moving in with

But since everything I own can literally fit in 2 suitcases, this seems like the perfect time to go.

Posted 3 years agoInstead of a long journal I'm just gonna get to the point; the Just Insane comic is dead. I know this isn't really a big surprise considering how long it's been since my last upload but I wanna make it official. The Comic is DEAD.
I've lost all drive to make any pages. Just staring at my screen day after day, hour after hour and nothing coming out.
Now even though the comic is dead, the world and my characters are not. I'll be uploading pieces done by others(mainly of the main duo) showing that they are still around.

Well it's time we paid Don Bluth back for these wonderful memories, over on Kickstarter he and Gary Goldman are needing help to fund a Dragon's Lair movie and as fans I say it is our duty to help see this vision come to light.

Posted 10 years agoAs we are all aware the right to marriage as finally been granted to those of us in the LGBT community in all states(Huge victory for us). Granted there are those who still don't believe in such rights, poor little things but we can just ignore them now like we do all others who spout nonsensical nonsense.
Late last night my brother showed me a conversation between 3 people in regards to the new marriage law and I'd like your opinion on who is right and who is wrong. Naturally names have been changed for anonymity.
John: Not trying to open that can of worms lol - edited.
Terrance: It's called marriage no matter what God they believe in man. There really is no other word for it.
Mike: Non-christians get marred all the time, Christians don't seem to give two shits when Atheists, Hindus, and Scientologists get married. He's just using his religion to mask his own inner prejudices. Which is gross. Thank you Terrance for not being gross.
Terrance: I was blessed with being raised by intelligent and open minded parents. Not everyone is that fortunate. Many have trouble overcoming the conditioning they've received since birth. John is open to the idea of marriage equality. His one hang up is the use of a word. I too used to have that same issue.
Change takes time. My views didn't change over night. It was something I too had to think on and consider before I came to the realization that it was just a word and how it was used really wasn't as important as the problem of inequality.
Wouldn't it be a shame if your angry words closed an open mind all because of an issue over one word?
Mike: Sorry, I just know too many people who are deeply and intrinsicly affected by this decision to be able to give anyone a pass on their ignorance. If Atheist Steve and buddhist Jane can get married and not have people saying, "I agree that you deserve to have a union but don't call it marriage" then there is literally nothing different except for internalized ignorance masquerading as religious devotion. As internet sensation "Sweet Brown" once said, "Ain't nobody got time fo dat."
John: I rarely say anything on here. I don't look down on you Mike I just think the term should be respected as I respect your right to union to have same benefits as married couples. Just my opinion not trying to debate. I'll gladly attend your ceremony with open arms mate.
Mike: I don't have a right to a union, I have a right to a marriage. Calling it anything different leads to discrimination, because if they are equal, they'd be called the same thing, regardless. I don't gay park a car, I don't gay study for exams, so I wouldn't get gay married, I'd get married. I would never get a 'union' because that's not equal, that's discrimination. You chose to be christian, people don't choose to be gay

Terrance: John is not an enemy of the LGBT community. If anyone here is an enemy of the LGBT cause it's you. You're actions are causing way more harm than anything else discussed here. So congratulations in showing that the only thing different between you and the people you're fighting against is what side of the line you're standing on.
Mike: I'm sorry you feel that way, but the LGBT community fights for equal rights, not "almost equal" or "separate but equal". Equal. Not half-equal, not equal on certain days, not equal if you make enough money, not equal if you're the right skin color. Equal. Calling them "unions" is the same thing as having "whites only" and "blacks only" water fountains. It's not equal. We tried that before, I'm sure I needn't tell you how it ended, dude.

In this social movement there are three groups. Those for equality, those against equality, and those that are in the middle. Generally when either side of an issue tries to win those from the middle they chose to show them how their side is right. They usually don't go around telling them how wrong they are for thinking they way they do.

Ori and the Blind Forest
Posted 10 years agoAs furries, you've more than likely already heard of/played/seen it but if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and purchase this game.
The visuals are beautiful, the music is enchanting and the story is an emotional punch to the gut(in a good way).
Where most games take an average of 10min for gamers to become invested, Ori and the Blind Forest sets the record at 3min. 3min was all it took for me to become emotionally invested in the characters and want to see Ori succeed in his quest.
Gameplay is 2D sidescroller, very Metroidvania in which there are a ton of upper and lower areas and so much backtracking. Completing 1 quest opens new areas in previously explored places so there's always something to go back and look for. The controls are pretty spot on, Ori moves and reacts in time with your button pushing very well.
The difficulty spikes pretty quickly so make sure you're platforming skills are at their best. Also the game does not auto save so it is up to you to remember to save at the Spirit Well or drop a Spirit Link, this game will not hold your hand for you.

The visuals are beautiful, the music is enchanting and the story is an emotional punch to the gut(in a good way).
Where most games take an average of 10min for gamers to become invested, Ori and the Blind Forest sets the record at 3min. 3min was all it took for me to become emotionally invested in the characters and want to see Ori succeed in his quest.
Gameplay is 2D sidescroller, very Metroidvania in which there are a ton of upper and lower areas and so much backtracking. Completing 1 quest opens new areas in previously explored places so there's always something to go back and look for. The controls are pretty spot on, Ori moves and reacts in time with your button pushing very well.
The difficulty spikes pretty quickly so make sure you're platforming skills are at their best. Also the game does not auto save so it is up to you to remember to save at the Spirit Well or drop a Spirit Link, this game will not hold your hand for you.

Been a little over a month
Posted 11 years agoand I wind up back in the hospital due to another allergic reaction, this time to medicine I've taken for years. Not only that but I was having severe stomach cramps before the allergies happened, doc said since they got to it early I'd most likely not have to stay over night, shot me up with some meds for my stomach and fell asleep rather quickly. Only to wake being wheeled across the hospital by my doctor, 2 nurses nad my mother trailing behind(she drove me to the hospital), turns out while I was asleep my heart and blood pressure drastically dropped, only for a few seconds but long enough for the doc to put me in observation overnight.
All better now got out this afternoon and got my prescriptions, also gotta make an appointment to get an allergy test done to find out what keeps doing this to me.

Posted 11 years agoHad to miss another day of work, Doctor didn't show up until nearly 3pm, had work at 4pm, meds prevented me from sleeping and rules of my job are a 4hr advance notice of calling in so I had to call in at 12pm.
Feeling so much better though, got some new pain killers that put me out like a light, I sleep so well now^^
Also the cocktail of meds I was on made me very ravenous, ate an entire Subway Footlong then 30min later was down at the vending machines and walked away with with about $20 worth of snacks.

Had a bad allergic reaction to Beano(yes you can laugh), started out as just a rash and swelling but after an hour everything got worse, Dizziness, Nausea, lighted headed, blurred vision and complete body weakness. Actually collapsed on the floor while talking to my boss about going to the hospital.
Mom had to drive me, showed up to give me some Benadryl when I only had the rash. Brother was with her, lol he cussed me out for still being at work.
Anyway was brought immediately put in a Room, to get shots, tests and x-rays. after a long while they moved me to a different room on the 4th floor, said I was pretty much good but wanted me to stay over night for observation since medical allergies can flair up twice.
Spent the entire night sitting watching TV and wandering the floors. also getting pumped full of meds every 3 hours.
Well that's now 2 meds I now know are bad for me and so far one is actually deadly.

If you're gonna leave FA because "the rapist is now a coder" then don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, I'm honestly not gonna miss you and most likely forget about your existence in the coming months. That was a matter for the police which it was never taken to, the story was full of so many holes/gaps in logic that a TV crime drama couldn't make it believable.
I'm gonna stay, continue to post and look at art. This will change nothing for me.

Sorry it took so long
Posted 12 years agoAs you probably already guessed we made it safely, we arrived on the 6th but just recently we were able to get a router so Andrew and I could have net(Too many things in the house already connected). The drive was a nightmare but not gonna make a journal, the sooner I can forget about those 600+ miles the happier I will be.
Slight delay in the move
Posted 12 years agoWe were suppose to be on the road last night, in fact we'd be in AR right now but things did not go as planned. First we had to delay on packing the truck because a neighbor was interested in looking at the house and we wanted to keep the place clean and clear of obstacles for her, well she never showed up and that was a couple hours wasted.
Later, around 12pm, I had to make a trip into town to shut off my Internet. Turns out our provider couldn't get anyone out to collect the modem so I had bag it up and head to Southwyck Blvd, which took over 5hrs since I had to go by bus(s).
We're hoping to be out of here tonight by 12am.
