So, in keeping with my pattern of posting thoughts when I actually remember to post things here, I thought a little bit about this US holiday tomorrow and what I'm thankful for...


Honestly, it's people that I've met in the last few years.

Yes, I still have all the love for the people I've known before and continue to cherish and love. But I've met new people in different mediums, that have been inspirations, confidants, and just new additions to the group I consider friends and family.

Ya'll are part of that, and everyone I've met has been pretty awesome.

So, apparently there's been some interest from some folks about the concept proposed in this bit of art I commissioned, and in  SettaFlamowitz's subsequent story.

Summary:

DigiTamer, techno-villain extraordinaire, has made a digital environment into which he kidnaps and imprisons various heroes and villains in order to a) get them out of his way and b) give his henchmen some much-needed entertainment in their off time.

The premise is that any hero or villain can be uploaded to the game. They are given powers and attacks approximate (roughly) to their real abilities, with occasionally hilarious (to the villain, anyways) changes and 'upgrades' - usually intended to humiliate the character (see: Purity's Super Attack in Setta's story).

So, figured I'd throw out the idea of whether or not anyone was actually interested in making this a trending thing. If so, propose your hero (or villain) that would be in the game, kind of attacks they'd have, and more importantly - their stage and the 'penalty' portion for those that lose. Here's an example:

Power Attacks:
Tier 1 - Nigh Invulnerable - Purity is immune to any damage except attacks from behind for a short time
Tier 2 - Pile Driver - Purity grabs her foe, flies up in the air, and pile-drives them into the ground with their head shoved between her legs. Embarrassing gasps and moans tend to abound when she's doing this.
Tier 3 - Perfect Pony Princess Beam - ridiculously humiliating magical girl-esque transformation scene and magical horn attack. Purity frigging HATES this when it's triggered.

Stage: Pretty Pony Princess Royal Stables, with a crowd of cheering spectators and 'cows' cheering on the fighters

Penalty: Purity, dressed in her Perfect Pony Princess outfit (and no doubt seething with rage at having tg wear it), drags the loser to the Processing Portion of Perfect Pony Princess' Stables. The losers are stripped of any remaining clothes/gear, redressed in a cow-outfit corresponding to their costume colours, and locked into a milking station. Female heroes/villains have breast pumps attached, while males are hooked up to penis pumps to start extraction (herm or shemale characters get BOTH). A big syringe of some rainbow-colored liquid also regularly jabs them in the ass, resulting in overproduction and growth of breasts/genitalia to appropriately humiliating levels. Losers stuck in the penalty are shown prominently in the background of future Perfect Pony Princess Royal Stable stage fights...

Another year 'round the sun. Now to spend the next 365 days being The Answer.

Finding that I am running into less issues where I don't have time to sketch, and more issues where I'm just feeling 'blah' about it. Other artist-y people, how do you break through that kind of motivational block?

Despite earlier in the week griping, there's something nice about digging in the dirt.

Of course, it being Texas, digging a foot-deep hole in the ground to unscrew a broken sprinkler head wasn't exactly the activity of choice for a late-august day. :)

To quote various memes I've seen of late online:

"I don't want to adult today."

Too much to do, and I don't feel I have enough time to do it all. Worse, the stuff I enjoy has to take a backseat to the stuff that MUST be done, which frustrates me no end.

</whiny ranting>

Changes are coming. Not sure what form they will take, but I've got some ideas on our heroine and the people in her little corner of the universe. Narrative first, artwork later is to become my new mantra.

Also, to give a little teaser of one of those ideas, allow me to add two new characters to Purity's rogue's gallery of fiends:

Coil and Strike

Superpowered Mercenaries and bounty-hunters, Coil and Strike pride themselves on always bringing their quarry in alive. Though not related, they view themselves as brothers, and would fight fiercely to protect one another.

Coil - reticulated python naga; powers include elongation, elasticity, limited growth, and ability to shape his body (in whole or in part) into nearly any shape. Particularly enjoys making prey struggle while he binds them ever more securely in his coils.

Strike - Cobra anthro; martial-arts and ambush specialist. Powers include a form of shadow-based teleportation - allowing him to step into one shadow and out of another, within line of sight - and the ability to generate any toxin or chemical within special glands in his body which he can then administer via fang, claw, or spit. Enjoys stalking his prey, either wearing it down with repeated ambushes from various quarters, or driving it into the waiting embrace of his partner, Coil.

Going to put a but more work into these two, but definitely thinking they're on my list of things to develop more.

Passed my latest exam, which means I don't have to do this re-certification thing again for another 3 years or so (yay!)

In the middle of moving, and even tho we're hiring movers for next Friday, it STILL feels like we're nowhere near going to be ready.

I'm going to put more time back into drawing, writing, ANYTHING to get my creative juices going again. I mean it this time. Honest. Really. STOP JUDGING ME! :)

To this end, I spent a bit of time throwing together an actual write-up of my masked mare; mainly for an RPG I'm going to be playing, but also as a reference for my artwork going forward.

Just bought my first house. It was equal parts stressful and awesome, and there was much celebration (and comforting application of alcohol aftewards). :)

Next up: recertify for my professional requirements, and moving.

Also, at some point, that whole 2nd honeymoon thing.

And somewhere in there (probably after the studying/test), more artwork.

Just started two weeks of vacation, and looking back at the past couple of years.

Lots of good things, some bad, some just kinda 'meh'. The future's holding a lot of 'maybe' right now, as far as different job opportunities, changes, and other things that I shan't go into here.

But there's two things I've been lax on, and that's inexcusable - namely, maintaining contacts with people, and trying to further my artistic skills. To that end, I'm making that something I want to improve upon this year, while it's still 2014.

Keep an eye out, I want to see if I can reverse some momentum.

Okay, that was terrible. I have no shame. :)

So, since I came up with a list of approx. 10 villains for Purity to deal with, I figured it fair to put together a list of allies/associates. It could use some fleshing out.


1. Wonder Colt - equine speedster. Young, heroic, brave, unfortunatelysomewhat easy to distract with feminine curves. © their player

2. Lady Midnight - Purity's sister. Super tough and strong, but less prone to headstrong frontal assaults. © their player.

3. Smoke and Mirror - twin male feline magicians, magic supports one another, specialty in illusions.

4. Hexslinger - wolfess witch with a western theme. Needs fleshing out.

5. DeciBelle - female nightingale with sonic powers. Needs fleshing out.

6. Judas Trigger - revenant spirit of justice. Wears a trenchcoat, gas mask, tends to dispense justice with a pair of tricked out ghostly pistols.

7. Nagata - naga hacker, infiltration and info gathering specialist. Sidekick. Fangirl. © they're er

8. ??? - [To be Determined]

9. Rose Guardian - red light-based powers, female mouse.

10. Purity - Mighty Mare extraordinare. Our Heroine. :)

So, on advice from  kernunnos I decided to do something I've been really needing to do for some time, and that's flesh out both Purity and her own personal Rogue's Gallery. So, with caffiene to hand and a few hours to burn last night, I sat down and put together what I thought might be a decent mix of villains for our heroine to have squared off against (or to square off against in future ideas).

List subject to change, additions, and deletions as I see fit. :)

1. Plasmouse - a possibly crazy skunk/mouse hybrid. Enjoys taunting/teasing Purity. Powers include a high aptitude with machines, energy manipulation powers, and the ability to turn into a gel-like form (thus allowing some limited shapeshifting). Plasmouse is © their player.

2. Stampede - a brutish, single-minded bull. Super-Strength, horrifically tough. Loves to build up speed and smash through things (his usual MO for robbing banks), or stomp right over police or heroes that get in his way. Usually accompanied by his enthusiastic henchgirl (and sister), a power-armored heifer named Barrage that specializes in ranged weapons.

3. Terror Firma - terrorist/mercenary with plant control powers. Pretty much just in it for the money, or because he likes breaking things. Likes to use various plant toxins, thrashing vines, and plant-based 'minions' to attack and defeat his enemies.

4. Widowmaker - robotic AI comprised of a harness of spider-like limbs. Believes its evolution is incomplete and seeks to merge with organics to uplift itself. It is capable of limited locomotion when not bonded to a host, but otherwise it is only really seen when it is attached to someone. The AI assumes complete control of the hosts body, and slowly consumes them from the inside out if they do not maintain a constant supply of energy (either through gluttonous acts of eating, or draining energy from other sources). Powers include energy drain, energy blasts, multi-limbed melee attacks with its sharp claws, and the sinister intelligence of the AI. Unless subdued and surgically removed within 48 hours, the bond will be irreversible without killing the host once Windowmaker has chosen a new body.

5.  devildoe - The Scarlot Harlot, a succubus doe straight out of Hell. Loves to corrupt and tease mortals. Powers and such are completely up to them.

6.  kernunnos - Kernunnos, an abyssal assassin, has crossed paths with Purity on more than one occasion. Powerful, sadistic, and scheming. Powers to be determined by them, naturally. ;)

7.  cetas - Ceyla the nightmare has also been a thorn in Purity's side, sometimes taking fights to nearly epic proportions. Powers, disposition, etc. are absolutely to be determined by them.

8.  darkgodAriaz - Ariaz the Hunter, while not one of her more common villains, she's been in his crosshairs more than once as part of some contract or another. Art trade needs to happen one of these days. ;)

9. Orifice Science - a shadowy, illegal science villain group. Specifically targets super-powered beings for capture and testing. For Science. You Monster.

10. Depravity - Purity's stereotypical, mirror-universe evil version. Where Purity possesses super-strength, flight, and nigh invulnerability, Depravity possesses raw eldritch might to accomplish many of the same goals. Draws her powers through summoning, binding, and consuming the powers of demons - basically reducing them to infernal batteries, and delights in corruption and suffering of her victims.


Okay, *NOW* that's all I've got. That's actually been kinda liberating, and something I think I'll work on fleshing out in the future...

So, I've been slacking a lot lately, after a very busy summer, a somewhat humbling stab at a very hard professional certification, and various work things keeping me busy.

Need to figure out how to get back into drawing, instead of doodling in the corners of my notebook at work. :P

Not to give away a bunch - it covers the trend of heroic female characters in media - both print and video - over the years.

Several things in there that I didn't know... and some inspiration as well. Definitely worth a watch, just to learn some of the history if nothing else.

3 years ago, I took a vacation to Japan for 3 weeks, and had a fabulous time, despite getting lost frequently.

On the way out, I realized I still had some cash left, and stopped by the Duty Free store to pick up something interesting - I happened upon a bottle of Yamazaki 18 yr single-malt scotch. It ran me something like 6500 Yen (or about $60 or so).

I'm almost out (like, literally, about 2-3 shots). And a little research shows me that a bottle runs about $140. :O

This is the last year of my 30s, as I'm 39 as of today.

Now I just need to figure out what I wanna do with myself.
