After being totally sick and making some trips to the ER and all that jazz, having my hubby fly to Utah to help me move cause heck knows I was too ill to do it alone -- Finally made it to Washington!
Can I just say, it's soooooo refreshing to feel like I'm not a crazy person anymore....
Moving has opened my eyes that I am not indeed on the loony truck and it's just Utah that acts like a country unto itself with it's own idea of what is "normal"... The only things that I have left to say about Utah are 1) it's great to visit, but don't live there 2) only live there if you are Mormon.
I got nothing against Mormons, but a state that is just oozing with that much religion is bad news for anyone who isn't a convert (and doesn't follow the same sort of principals as them) - I have never placed much weight on if a person believes in god or not so long as they are a good person overall, but to Mormons in management positions (which tends to be how one gets into management there...) it matters quite a bit apparently. And once you are in, you can seemingly do no wrong (such as telling a woman that she should have kids before her uterus rots out.... yeah.... it's a real boys club...:/ ) [i will point out - that Utah Mormons ARE in fact different from Mormons raised in other states - after speaking to some and knowing some in and out the state in questions - it's only Utah that this tends to be the case...]
So both my hubby and I are much happier to be free in a free state :3
And the yarn - they have YARN stores practically EVERYWHERE here. I've been in heaven with all the yarn stores. Also art supply stores ... and the general friendliness of the people here. It's all so much more relaxing. I love the rain. I love the smell of coffee (I can't drink it anymore, but still love the smell!). and I love the way that it actually feels snappy outside like fall :3
MY GAWD - it's so nice! I plan on working on somethings soon, just trying to find a job out here has been a little bit difficult to work out since it would be easier with 2 cars, but oh well - who can really complain when things are so nice :3

Posted 12 years agoSo, ... I've been alone for about a month now.... pretty much solitary....
I SO WANT OUT OF UTAH!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!
My husband is looking for apartments and hoping to find something this weekend or [god...] next week. We have a roommate who is a friend in the area thankfully. This is still cutting it really close though....
Also, I've lost weight... like crazy over just this one month alone. I apparently eat like crap when I'm around my hubby :c I've cut out soda mostly, but pretty much everything else too, while lifting and moving shit around. I just noticed today when I put my pants on and didn't notice that they were still buttoned and zipped O_O; I only bought these jeans like 3 months ago.....
I hopefully will be getting a moving truck or something together next Friday. I have to dump the last of my crap into some boxes and hampers, but I've lived pretty trim the past 30 days. I really want to go to my new home though. I'm so tired of living like this (oh and being sick alone...that has sucked too... :/)
Once I move and get settled I will be back and probably be wanting to open from slots of things that I have been cooking recently.

It is Official - We are moving to Seattle!
Posted 12 years agoMy husband got a job in the Seattle area of Washington. He just has to sign some papers and he starts at the end of the month.
I have to stay here for about 3 more weeks to finish packing, loading a u-haul and vaccinating our cats....
We're looking forward to moving out that way though - looks like there is plenty of fresh air and trees! I love rain, so it will be a blessing to me compared to life in the desert hole known as Utah. I'm also hoping for a bathtub in our new apartment.
It will be interesting to see how things work out once everything gets settled.

Still kickin' - life was heck
Posted 12 years agoSo, I'm still working on some art ideas and working on fleshing out the general story for the comic idea. I keep asking my mate for help on it, but my husband is a busy guy as of late (and I have the sunburns to prove it....). He's more into actual writing than I myself am, and I keep looking to him for help since he keeps saying we should collab on something together at some point (we generally don't work well together as business partners on endeavors), but we just haven't seemed to have much of the time or opportunity lately.
He has started to get into cycling with his father - it's the first time in the 5 years I've been here that I think I've seen them sort of bond over anything. It's sweet and I am so happy for him to finally feel a connection with his father in a healthy way. But it makes me a little sad cause I do feel conflicted on wanting to move back to the north country which we had been talking about more of late. I'm afraid of my family, and I would feel terrible to rip him from his just as things are starting to grow strong :/
I'm happy that my hubby has started to get out and do other things than just video games, but my gentle furless human complexion can't take much of the desert sun all at once. I've been sunburned about 3 times in the past month alone. I've started to carry a bottle of sunscreen with me just cause I usually don't know when I'm getting pulled out to some place so I figure I need to keep it on my person at all times now just in case.
Besides that, I got a haircut and it's growing on me in a weird way. I like it... and I am currently working on a knitting a light pullover made from baby alpaca <3 baby alpacas are softer than puppys and kittens and their fluff is slightly warmer too ....
Anyway, I will try and post up more of things when I have a chance to between all the stuff that I'm suddenly doing (and playing the new animal crossing on my DS.... <_<)

The fun trip to the ER - Why I haven't updated work
Posted 12 years agoLOL okay, so Asia if you are reading this - you should probably just go about the rest of your day and skip this journal cause it would totally ruin your day XD <3
Anyway, So my hubby was sick with some sort of cold/sinus/allergy thing recently with the coughing and the sneezing and post nasal drip. He's had a ton of stress from work too on top of that so he finally decided to go to the docs office. I thought - I will go with him so I can drive him home and get him into bed and take care of him.
I went with and started to feel a pain in my side, like in my stomach, but totally thought nothing of it and just wanted to take care of him. We leave the docs, get him meds, and I stop to get him some food at a Chinese place that we haven't been to before. My stomach pain is still there, but I figure I'm just super full from lunch or whatever and just carry on. I get him home, put him to bed and lay down with my heating pad over me. I'm never far from my heating pad when I'm at home due to years of constant pain from other medical issues. Usually it makes things melt away, but this pain isn't getting better.
I wake up about an hour later was in the bathroom and puked hardcore and started on a horrible roller coaster of dehydration. The part that made me go to the ER though was intense pain through my left side near my stomach and from between my shoulder blades and down my back. The pain made it impossible to sit, lay down, or even stand .....
They put me on an IV with fluids and meds for everything and I ended up coming home at about 4:30 am. All this after just paying off a huge chunk of other medical bills.... *rolls eyes* And now 2 days after that, I have a huge heda cold mixed with allergies...... WHEN WILL IT STOP?!?!?! guh
So once, I feel a little better and I can stop shoving tissues like they were candy I will get back to drawing and doing some art work. (I'm through 1 box of puffs already and just started using them today....oi!)
I am alive and I will see you all when I can have some control of my body again :3

Pulled Muscles from Laparoscopic Surgery SUCK!
Posted 12 years agoOkay, so I had laparoscopic surgery about a year ago now and this is the 3rd or 4th time I've pulled a muscle in my gut since then.
This time, I made breakfast in the morning - doing well, nothing wrong. Sat down and ate just after my husband left for work - got up a little while after to take care of my plate and PAIN! This one seems to be a transverse abdominous or one of my obliques this time since the pain is from my lower incision site out to the side. I've had pain before in like my rectus abdominal muscles which was closer to my bellybutton incision site.
Pain.... it sucks. I've usually stayed on rest and tylenol for the pain since generally that is what any doctor is going to tell me to do about it. I'm thinking of going in though soon to talk to my PCP to start up a record of it though since apparently there have been some issues with laparoscopic surgery that have recently come up due to use of the DaVinci Robot (they used that on me).
I'm kinda pissed off that a year later I am having more issues than less and I'm worried that this is going to be a permanent thing now to pull or tear a muscle every few months.
So, not much art while I'm on rest since it's hard to bend in anyway that will allow me to draw or ink. :,< I will try and get some things posted after I am off of resting though.
At least I'm catching up on my Pokemans......

Expanding Artistic Bounds - New Characters and Gift Arts?
Posted 12 years agoSo, Over the next while I'm going to be trying out different character types (species) and mixing of my types of styles.
I'm starting off with Goodi who will probably become a new permanent character for me. I have always wanted a Reindeer character and I think she will fit for me.
My hubby is also looking for a new character design so I will more than likely be stepping into the realm of Avian quite soon. I used to be pretty good a drawing wings and feathers..... like.... 11 years ago (good at the time anyway for my age) so we will see how much work this will end up being.
Aside from those two characters, I will be browsing around and POSSIBLY (and this is a big ol' maybe) doing some gift art for others. I will probably do some for close friends and I might find some newbies to the fandom which have interesting different creatures from canines, that I might pick and gift with character art of their characters just to try and challenge myself to expand. I'm going to start out with Goodi and my Hubbies new character to get warmed back up into drawing (it has been almost 4 years....)
If you have suggestions of species I should try - let me know and I will see if I can work some out. I'm also going to be trying to pick both genders. I like boobies (who doesn't?), but I think I need to get into flat chests and smexay hip V's...... :9

I had a fursuit. Purpurn, was actually the third or so suit I made. (much improved)

We live in a crumby apartment behind a deli. The place isn't sealed well by any means and we finally got bugs this year (probably in the fall when everything was looking to stay warm). We got carpet beetles.
Technically, they eat natural fibers such as wool and pet hair (which yes we do have as we have cats...) but they like to cozy up in just about anything and my suit was pretty friggin cozy I guess. I had put my suit away for the past about 4 years and it didn't see much love (it needed to have the jaw fixed actually). I flipped about the bugs - the suit is no more. The bugs have had their numbers significantly dented too.
On the upside my apartment smells sort of like cedar now....
I will miss the way that Purpurn looked, but I will eventually make a new suit - probably one that matches with my husbands (when I make his). I've been super interested in the resin blanks. I might have to give those a look.
Anyway, RIP you son'ofa bitch half suit!

Art and what makes me LOL
Posted 13 years agoSo, I am still working out details of the comic I plan on creating. I have rough character work done on the two main characters in my story, but there are still a few kinks I have to work on.
I was watching tv the other night late after a horrid burrito incident (never eat burritos the night before thanksgiving....) and I found a program on art and art therapies and why art is essential to humans. It made me think how much I really enjoy are and why. I had thought about doing art therapy related work when I was in high school after seeing a book about it in the medical section of barns and noble with my mother. I didn't really talk about it cause it seemed odd to me at the time, but really I've come to learn that one of the things that really holds me together is art and working with the materials that I have.
They showed how just talking about art has helped soldiers returning from war talk about their feelings and thoughts and made them feel a little less alone seeing how soldiers even 100 years ago expressing the same feelings they have upon returning home. They talked about how art makes the brain and body change and work, how the mind and the body are linked and in a way I think that link is the "soul." Art is good for the soul, both body and mind.
Anyway, so, occasionally I comb through e621 to check out comics and find new artists that I haven't seen before and occasionally I just have to LOL.
Now, pretty much everyone can post on there, and I'm not saying that I LOL at people will less artistic skill (that would just be horribly mean). I usually LOL when I find funny fursonas like... a TigerShark... like a literal Tiger with Shark fins..... I mean, don't get me wrong it's not any more weird than say a purple dog *snicker*, but it just makes a LOL a bit :P
Also, e621 is a great place to find the oddest poses. I've seen plenty of really great artwork that there is just.... well,..... how is that arm bending that way, or why would you sit like that? I think some artists get too carried away with placing all the parts into the pictures, but really you have to think that there are certain limits to flesh and bone, even if it is part human and part animal anatomy. Sometimes things just aren't supposed to show up in the picture and that's okay, cause the human mind will generally fill in the blanks. Even if I only see one arm, I will assume that there are 2 until proven otherwise.... I'm talking all this into consideration for when I actually start roughing out my comic pages.

Posted 13 years agoI recently put in a sub for a contest with squishables (if you don't know them then you are lame and need to learn about them : http://www.squishable.com/) They are having an open squish where people can send in ideas for squishables. I entered an armadillo. I'm not sure if I should post it here or not - like if that voids my chances of winning or not, but they will be putting things up on facebook eventually sometime this month. I'll ad a link to my design if I can. I actually have a few other design ideas too and will probably be adding them when I'm finished.
As for other stuff going on - a lot of medical crap. CRAP. I'm getting a second opinion cause my doc has already pretty much washed her hands of me. Not life threatening in anyway so I'm not dying, but it's still a huge PITA.
My brother and his wife are having their first kid and I am knitting up toys for the kid. She's supposed to be born sometime this month so I really have to finish some stuff. I'll probably take pics when I can of some of the things I'll be sending.

I just started a new job, so i am just trying to get settled there and once i do i'm sure there will be some new art up for viewing pleasures :3 You're all so sweet and awesome!! I may be doing something random for some random people
it's the question that haunts me a ton when it comes to the fandom. Well, I'm going to make an experiment I guess. I'm going to place a link here for my livejournal. I know... I know... ew - livejournal. AND it has nothing to do with furriness. It's my REAL life. and.. it's kinda boring on real standards - but i like my life right now! I'm happy about the way things are going. And it's centered around something else that I do - crafts! not drawing, but knitting, sewing, and remodeling things or great finds at the thrift store or things that my cats or other animals do. And I'm curious to find other people who are interested in those things as well. I would love to meet more knitters or crafters or people who just want to comment on blogs and ideas.

I've had hard luck with job lately, but I'm still looking. Though it doesn't help that my brother is getting married in October. I don't have enough money to get a plain ticket to there and back. (altogether it should be about $230)

New things
Posted 16 years agoSo along with suits I have to finish (Asia's and my mates head...) I found that I have another talent in sewing. I have found that I can make teddy bears (or... other woodland critters)! I started with something that I like and that I had fur for - a teddy wolf.
I plan on making a few other critters before I open up to possible commissions for them. I plan to make a fox and possibly a cat as well as try a new pattern out (that I'm currently working on).
The "teddies" I'm working on now are "classic style" with bead eyes and are 5 way jointed (arms/legs and head). The joints are made with bolts and nuts and large washers- all stainless steal to ensure a long life. The nuts are secured in place with hot glue on the end to make sure they don't come off, but this is still under trial (I discovered this already while working on the first one. The nuts came loose and the limb fell off. So far with the glue tipped end - the limbs have stayed secure.)
I post pics as these continue as well as give an update for when I may start taking commissions of characters or creatures for them. But right now, I have the commissions slots listed as below.

They said that since i had taken so much time off that i could take no more time off - not even for follow up doctors visits. They said if i was absent once, late once - i would be fired... I don't think they understood how sick i am. So rather than get caught up in all of this i walked instead, but basically was badgered into leaving.
So I am jobless at the moment and my search is not going well. Apparently most places aren't hiring and all i want is part time. So it is hard to find.

Pneumonia Update D:
Posted 16 years agoWell - okay... i felt better for a little bit there D:
I ended up finishing the antibiotics that they gave me for last week on Friday. Felt okay, but i had a headache - figured it was from not having enough liquid in me. Drank some water took some Tylenol and went to sleep.
Woke up Saturday morning still had a headache - had it all night. it did feel like a hang over headache, so i figured liquid foods for the day (or liquid based foods) cereal, soup, and ramen for dinner.
I took a yogurt pill had my breakfast... still had a headache... took some of the inhaler they gave me and waited a bit.
I started to feel TERRIBLE. The only time I've ever come close to feeling as bad as this is when i had the Norwalk virus a few years back. I just kept on puking, even past the point that i had nothing left to puke up.
My mate finally got worried and took me to the ER. The lady at the front desk told me to sign in and have a seat. I could barely walk i felt so terrible. (to be honest recalling a lot of this is kinda hazy...) I started to hyperventilate. I wasn't trying to, I just didn't feel like i was getting enough air... I felt dizzy and lightheaded and like i said it was hard to walk. They took me in next and the triage nurse was kinda uncaring bitch... too set on her "tasking" rather than caring about the people she was seeing. She told me to stop hyperventilating, I told her i know I was doing it, but that i couldn't.
She gave me an arm band and took me into the back gave me a gown and told me to wait for someone to come back. I got dressed in the gown and sat on the bed. My mate sat across the room from me. I tried to slow down my breathing, but i slower i breathed the more i felt like i was going to puke.
A lady came in the room - not a nurse a registration clerk. she started asking all the questions... i started to answer, but when it started coming to the address information i had my mate answer her and i felt the need to upchuck coming on. He passed me the bucket and I remembered puking into the bucket - it was just bile and spit/snot. Then... The bucket was gone and i was coughing and puking on myself and there were tons of people in the room and a doctor and my mate had his arms around me. The registration clerk was gone. I groggily looked around. Two nurses at the door - doc in front of me - mate next to me holding me - and an odd wet spot on the bed to the left of me. I was mightly confused. My mate handed the bucket back to me and said, "uhhh - here sweety... use this" - I was thinking great - where the hell did my bucket go anyway?? So i kept spitting up and puking in the bucket again. The doc told me to listen and he started talking to my mate. I only really half listened. Finally i stopped puking and they told me to lay down.
They started an IV on me and gave me some medication for nausea. My mate told me i passed out. I was confused and was like really??? I was like that explains my bucket disappearing and the wet spot on the bed. apparently i passed out - made an awful gurgling sound and then fell over on the side of the bed. My mate apparently picked me back up and sat me right side up again and then i started coughing and spitting the stuff up again.
I don't remember anything after puking in the bucket and before seeing the doctor....
it was weird.
So i took a whole bag of IV fluid in about 3 hours and had a MRI and tons blood tests and other tests done and they said that i seemed fine. So they discharged me.
They were very nice to me. I was so tired though and ever time i started to fall asleep i woke up as i stopped breathing. Apparently i have a type of sleep apnea. They suggest that I go to another doctor for that later.
I found that the antibiotic i was on is apparently very harsh and sometimes used for the treatment of respiratory problems in Kemo patients. It's not gentle on the stomach and can also sometimes have permanent damage both mentally and physically. GREAT!
The doc from the ER gave me some new meds for the infection in my lungs that is safer and gentle and also some pills for nausea.
So... to be honest - i have no idea where yesterday went...

Posted 16 years agoso i do have an update, i finally got my stuff from my old neighbor - good! ... head is still kinda being fixed... found a new hobby besides knitting/crocheting. now i do quilting.
anyway - i have been doing art, but lost my camera cable... :(
besides that i screwed myself over badly with money seeing as i came down with Pneumonia. Communally caught seeing as Utah is probably the warmest driest place i've been too. Personally though i blame on a combo of the person in the back of my office hacking up a lung/high stress from work/and shitty air stuck in this lousy dust bowl. (seriously the air here leave a coat of muck on my car when it does rain) it was also a little cool for this time of year last week when i caught it.
so i've been out of work for over a week (doctors orders), but i didn't have vacation to cover it.... not even a full day. this is kinda troubling for me seeing as i don't have a ton of money in the first place (and we moved to a place where it costs over 1200 per month just to live here - i hate it!!)
my mate has been such a sweetheart too. he's taken very good care of me while i pretty much can't breath at all.... not breathing sucks. What also sucks is that i got this after not even smoking after 7months... :( (not that i want to go back to smoking, just saying bastards of fate - curse you!)
btw - large doses of antibiotics.... they hurt! literal pain in the ass booster shots!
i will survive! :(

so i've been out of work for over a week (doctors orders), but i didn't have vacation to cover it.... not even a full day. this is kinda troubling for me seeing as i don't have a ton of money in the first place (and we moved to a place where it costs over 1200 per month just to live here - i hate it!!)
my mate has been such a sweetheart too. he's taken very good care of me while i pretty much can't breath at all.... not breathing sucks. What also sucks is that i got this after not even smoking after 7months... :( (not that i want to go back to smoking, just saying bastards of fate - curse you!)
btw - large doses of antibiotics.... they hurt! literal pain in the ass booster shots!
i will survive! :(

Posted 17 years agoSo I made it to Utah. I've been here a month getting settled. Haven't had much time for art or drawing there's been just too much going on. I sat down last night and made a pic, but it's not my best- may post it up later. I have a new job here that's on day shift so I'll be wacked out for a while getting used to working day shift. I've been doing crafts since i've been here - they keep me calm... sorta...
I've got 6 pets to take care of and i'm getting poorer and poorer since i don't start work right away. so i'll be back once things have settled. And i will be making two new suits in the months to come so - keep an eye out for that.
****side note : I'm extremely pissed off since my suit head currently (Purn) is broken! I lent the head to my ex-nextdoor neighbor since he was curious how it was made and thought he could make one of his own for a cosplay thing he wanted to do... The hair is matted and tangled and the inner working of the jaw were ripped out or place so the head is out of commission and I'm pissed since halloween is right around the corner and I have no costume now. AND what's worse is HE has all my suit crafting materials since he offered to help me move by shipping the box which he HASN'T done YET! so I can't fix her!****

I'm opening two (2) slots for commissions. These will be electronic products (my ex took the scanner/printer with him when he left...) I may open up for physical prints later, but as it stands right now you will receive one electronic document of a .jpg format. You though, may re post where you want so long as you are able to give me credit.
Prices will go by level of commission: [two characters in one image]
$10 [$15] - pencil sketch (cleaned up a bit)

These will be commissions of your character (and maybe someone elses with yours) I would like reference pics of the characters before i begin (i don't do well with written descriptors, sorry...).
so let me know what you would like. I'll do my best to work with you guys. and if this works out well enough i'll open up for more commissions.

I didn't post much up in my journal since i didn't want to say too much, but that's what's with all the mushy cheesy loveydovey pics lately. His fursona is some sort of a grey wolf knock off, but that's fine with me seeing as how i prefer to draw canines.
Though if anyone has noticed a sudden SPIKE in quality - Thank him. I don't know WTF he did to me, but he just brings out the best in my art. Not that i'm not overjoyed to be here, just wanted to keep on the DL for a while about it.
He's sweet as pie and to me and i'm very happy with him. just not sure what we're gonna do. I've got the rest of the week here, but... I have to go back home sometime. But we'll work on it later.

I'm not going, but one of my suits is - Look for Blau and give him a big punt to the nuts (JK)
Blau will be at AC in all of his full suited glory. I'm not sure if he'll do any flips, but maybe (i doubt it) I have yet to actually even have a good pic of the suit - much less it on the person it was originally made for - so if you see him, take a pic for me. It's a big Blue Husky sorta dog with a big nose and big eyes (not descriptive at all...) he has VERY fuzzy ears and they flop a bit...
I'll get pics when the suit is returned, but some from the con would be nice.
Hope all my friends going have a safe and happy trip and I look forward to seeing all your pics and hearing all your tails.

I still am probably not going to AC, but we'll see.
As for right now I'm looking for things to do over the summer here :D
I really do like living up here. All the beaches and places to visit!

Posted 17 years agoWelp - Mah dragony mate is gonna be moving in with me for the summer :D YAY!!
This just means i have tons to do before he gets here (clean... find places for him to work... make the house less gurly i guess.... etc... ) so the art and posts willl stop for a short time. (not all summer - just till he gets here)
I am working on a badge trade for * Sketch_Dalmatian So that will be posted up when I am done. :3
But as it stands i has much to do!
We will probably NOT be going to AC after all... (teh furry drama ended up striking) It's at the point where I don't feel SAFE going. And i won't put myself in a situation like that. I know everyone here will be sad - i am too. But i would rather avoid any confrontations. I will not go into great detail here - but i will talk to a few of my closer friends on here about it if they really want to know why i am not going to be able to see them. I assure you i'm not in bodily harm, but the stakes are enough that I reconsider going.
After the summer though - The mate and I will be moving back to his area in Ohio. We just figure this was I can soak up the last of my job (stay there longer to get better money and what have you...) and then probably around August before his school season starts - move back to Ohio. This will be a very nice new change. I'm looking forward to getting a new start somewhere else. There aren't many furs up here in the north country where I am, and I have heard tons live in Ohio - Including my sista from another mista! Asia! :D
I miss her so much!! granted she'll be on the other end of the state, but we would at least be able to spend weekends together. Pretty shway.... :3
