hi i was born
Posted 7 months agoI'm getting back into drawing... I don't know if it's a joke or not, you decide for yourself.
I had to quit gamedev. It was a good place, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Luckily for me, I was offered a great job that pays more than the gamedev company offered me. Even though it has nothing to do with creativity and I have no experience with this kind of work, it would be stupid to refuse. I still have doubts, but I'm getting ready to leave to work on a rotational basis in 1-2 months.
But for now I'm here and I'm drawing.
Who knows, maybe I'll be able to shake Crizo's hand personally, I hope hehe

Update: Temporarily closing commissions
Posted 8 months agoHello everyone, I think I should warn you about this in advance.
Last week I found myself a job in gamedev. It was not planned. And it was very fast. I was not even sure that they would take me. But I was lucky.
There are two problems with this: the first is that I work in another city, because of which I will lose time on intercity trips and I will have little free time.
For reference, transport between cities runs infrequently, and I have to ask for leave from work early, otherwise I will physically not be able to leave the city and will have to wait a long time for the next transport.
The second is that I also have a second freelance job with tight deadlines.
Given these two facts, I physically have no time to draw art.
For now, I cannot move to another city.
I tried to ask to take me on a freelance job, even at the cost of a salary cut, but I'm not sure it's possible.
(Spoiler, it was possible, but my art lead deprived me of this option, although the management was not against it.)
Therefore, at the moment, my commissions are closed and I am doing old cmm without taking on new ones.
I was given a job in gamedev with such good conditions that I simply cannot lose it. Even without taking into account that it is gamedev, the salary is good by the standards of my country. I won't find something like this twice. This job divides my life into before and after.
When I move to a new house, perhaps I will have more time, and I will return to art.

How my first game jam went
Posted a year agoOne evening I invited my team, with whom I had already done a game jam (but we didn’t have time) to participate in Pixel Game Jam - 2024.
My game https://good-person-vmirrn.itch.io/.....ld-of-the-gods
There are three of us - me as an artist, a guy for 3D backgrounds and a novice programmer.
It was a chaotic trip. At some point I made a scandal that we had zero work planning, which made the guys go into shock.
But the work process has begun.
We constantly had problems with our inability to conduct teamwork. For example, my technical questions were often ignored.
But I also did stupid things, so we're even, I guess.
We had a plan and we just followed it.
There was a funny moment with the programmer: to any of my questions “can we do...” the answer was “no we can’t”
The programmer is a great fellow; he was able to get the most out of himself, taking into account his low level.
The programmer and I didn’t sleep the whole night on the last day of the jam so that we could complete everything. The poor man went to school in this condition.
I was drawing in Aseprite without knowing very important hotkeys and it really slowed down my work so I was very tired at the end.
But now we made a game.
Despite the fact that we cut out some of the ideas because the programmer was already barely breathing from the workload, we did everything we wanted. In the end it was really cool to feel like I had my own game. This is not just a game, but with my character!
And so we began to wait for the results of the game jam and...
It turns out that there was some kind of document that needed to be drawn up for participation. I found out about it by chance by looking at my email.
There is not a word about him on the main page of the game jam, the information was only in the game jam discord. I didn’t really look at what was on discord, but even my programmer who was on the channel missed it.
As a result, we are disqualified because of this.
The moderators told everyone with this problem to shut their mouths and not interfere with their complaints to review the games for voting. With the exception of those who did not register for technical reasons.
Even those who knew about this document had problems with the document and noted that it was a controversial decision for the game jam.
It’s so annoying that everything positive is simply erased.
My huge motivator was the prize that promised promotion of the game at the expense of the company.
For several years I have been looking for projects that are able to reach at least a demo version and that will not tell me that “I am not good enough” to work for free. And it's damn hard.
So I reassure myself that I have finally found my team.
I quit drawing for almost half a year because I hate it.
I became a HOI mod artist, but that only made things worse.
To some extent, creating a game began to bring me back to art.
I have very controversial feelings about all this.

how i wanted to be a visual novel artist
Posted 3 years agoHeadlines can also be like "How to burn out in five days without even drawing".
Yes, these are cool stories.
What can I say, I love talking.
It hurt me that I had to give up creating merch for n.e.e.t. because the organizer was...very strange and inexperienced. I had to drop it because the correspondence consisted of strange statements and inability to answer banal questions. I expect my art to be stolen for merch lol.
I think because of the situation in the country I will no longer have a chance to participate in this.
Somewhat depressed, I decided that by all means I want to participate in any project. And I decided to participate in the creation of a visual novel, for free, with gameplay for 2-3 hours. I thought that since the project is small, then with the team we will definitely bring it to the finish line, and I will not have time to get tired in the process.
I don't know if there is something similar in english forums, but russian visual novel creators are clowns.
I mean, they come to me with the fact that I need to make 7 sprites, each with 5 poses (drawing a new and different character each time while maintaining his appearance is not very easy, it's easier to make one sprite and change emotions). And "no more "10 cg. By the way, could you also make backgrounds and animations? Hope it's fast.
This is for free. For a short story for 2-4 hours, taking into account different routes.
I was told that if there weren’t a hundred arts, it would be boring to make a short story, and a short story would take half an hour. I didn't understand it. Is it boring to prescribe the code and the plot until you feel how they draw 24/7 for you, when it is not even clear what the project is?
The idea of drawing art so that it would be a second on the screen sucks, the art will not be done in a second or even in a day, you know.
It was even better when they came even without a synopsis of the plot but already demanded a lot of drawings.
In the end, I settled on two projects. One is a paid porn visual novel, the other is free.
The porn novel is no longer new, and everything is planned in the process. Seeing an adequate "director" who is fully able to answer all questions is priceless. I want to cry with happiness.
But at the same time, these guys give a test task that is a little suspicious. Feeling that my art will be stolen without taking me into the project.
A free visual novel attracts me because of the constant attention paid to it. Well, this thing is just cute - something about witches and references to imageboards.
But as soon as I tried to find out what was generally needed from the artist, very vague answers began. For me, they were too lazy to throw off references for the work, that's all I got - a simple old draft of the project, a bust of an anime girl generated by AI, and vague wishes. I have no idea what these guys expect from me.
I was told that my style is not suitable for the project, and I have to understand this. But what style should I do?! All that is in the project is 2.5 pieces of art that are all different and all of the same dubious quality and nothing meets the stated requirements.
I don't like that I had to be pushy and argue with the author of the visual novel.
I don't see a problem with making a reference board to show the possible options to the director. Honestly, that's what their concept artist should have been doing. But it seems that any suggestions and criticism are prohibited. I feel like the hero of a typical russian fairy tale: Find something, I don't know what, go there, I don't know where.
In fact, I was wondering - does anyone often perform a test task for a free project?
When I asked how much work awaits me if I do the test, they told me, as much as you want.
*sigh*
then I listen for an interview with a dude where he says that planning is a deterrent to a project
*heavy sigh*
All this led me to the idea that I simply refuse to do anything for free, because some kind of shit is starting.
Just thinking about all the options and what's going on made me tired lol. I feel terrible.

Posted 3 years agoA terrible thing happened yesterday. Now I have one less cat. The whole process was terrible. I feel great guilt that I wasted time in the process and I feel very bad.
It's good that I had people who could morally support me.
As a result, it turns out that there are no normally equipped clinics in the city, and only one is located far outside the city.
What made me think that in fact there is no medicine in the city for either people or animals.

My Boosty
Posted 3 years agoI think lately you often see announcements about Boosty, paying for orders with him and donations through him.
I'm not an exception. I would say I'm a little late XP
https://boosty.to/alex_purring_cat
Since Boosty sometimes behaves strangely and generally takes a long time to transfer money, I will try to insist on card-to-card transfers. But if someone is too lazy then Boosty will do.
Life still made me get a "Patreon"! But why in such an extreme way! ХD
