I have not been able to make a living off of art for quite some time now. To be honest I don't have a lot of money left and everything I do have technically goes to my rent. My partner has been covering me for a while but I hate doing that to him. This situation is not sustainable . Not going to lie to you, I'm very stressed about it.

I would like to get a "real" job and start contributing more but in my area it's very difficult without a drivers license. I'm trying to save up some money to afford driving lessons. I already passed the written test, I just need to be able to afford a driving instructor for a few more lessons so I can pass the driving test.

I know I'm not the best at advertising myself but every little commission is a huge help right now. If you where debating getting something from me in the past, now would be the perfect time to send me over a dm! I will be eternally grateful!!!

I can't sleep so I thought I would ask you all a quick question. In your own words, what is art? I'm leaving the question broad as to do my best not to have an influence on your answer.

I'm curious if I see things differently than others. This discussion is NOT ment to be a about AI. (But I do find that an interesting topic so maybe dm me for a more nuanced discussion on that. I love hearing everyone's opinions )

I don't like making this kind of journals but I thought it's only fair to keep you guys in the loop.
I've been very stressed financially lately, and putting a lot of time into job hunting. Unfortunately that's not going good so far.

Also me and Sly got heat exhaustion two or so days ago. In a day or two I'll be feeling better than I am right now with that as well. Currently tho I feel like someone slashed my iq in half. Been pretty brain foggy.

And my dumb ass keeps forgetting his meds so that doesn't help me either. I am back on track with that tho so in a week or two I should be feeling much much better.

I do still need to put food on the table, so as always commissions are open if you are interested. However I probably won't be able to hit my old deadlines. (~3-5 days). I'll probably take a bit longer. (Not like, months or anything crazy.)

I'm going to be very honest. My current set up as it is isn't sustainable. It never was. I was really hoping by year three I could make about $10 an hour working art full time, but I could just never consistently get that output. I physically can not work any faster without heavily affecting the quality of my work, and I'm not comfortable trying to charge more, especially with the direction the economy is taking.(we arnt even going to bring up the ai thing but that worries me too) But also I'm just out of money...

I need to acquire a more steady income from elsewhere, and that means temporarily there will be less artwork being posted while I job hunt. Quite frankly I just DONT enjoy making art right now. I need a break.

I'm not quitting, just moving to part time work.

I'm not getting rid of the Patreon or my FA but I will be less active for the next week or two.

I had this big plan to set up auto posts the whole time I was gone on my trip... Then I forget about the fact I would of had to have left my PC turned on the whole week I was gone for that to work. Hello! I just wanted to pop in with a quick update. I am very sleepy but wanted to get this out before bed in cause anyone was interested~

This year I will be following a more rigid scheduling to insure everything goes smoothly. AKA I am now taking commission slots in advance! Feel free to send me a DM if you are interested. However, once a week has started I will not be taking new work until the following week. That means if you want something on Monday, it's best to message me at least a few days in advance. The goal is to start projects on Mondays, and finish them the following Friday.

LASTLY, I am now taking lineart commissions! They are 50% off the price of regular commissions. (A fullbody lineart would total $50 for example).

Our internet has been down for over 24 hours due to an outage. We where told it would be back as of 30min ago but the site has been updated to say it won't be fixed till 1:30pm est tomorrow.

I highly apologize for any delays this causes. I will make another post once it's back up and I'll do my best to keep working until it's back. I just can't send work updates or download new references/resources on my PC. I am still working on commissions and I can still text a little bit with my phone. Unfortunately I have limited phone data so I can't chat very much until the internet is back.

I just wanted to pop in to say I have a few updates for you all.

First off I want to start with the biggest change. And that is that I'm scrapping the waiting list system.
This is for a couple reasons. The biggest being that the list has gotten too long. I used to be able to clear it in a week or so, but recently people have been on it for much longer. And often by the time I get to them they've either lost interest, or choose to postpone things until they're ready. It makes it hard for me to schedule work out. And it leaves me in a weird spot where I either wait on them to be ready or move on in the list. Waiting leads to not getting enough work done in a month(These commissions pay my bills). Or if I move on to the next person I often times end up in a rut when when the first person comes back, and I either have to delay things, or work double time.

I want to have a more clear cut, and easy to manage system. So, I've decided to try out slots. The plan is to have Patreon slots at the start of the month, and public slots the 2nd or 3rd week of the month. Hypothetically this means everyone will have a more equal opportunity at getting a slot. There will be way faster turn around times, less confusion. AND I'll be able to schedule myself better so that I can 1) stress less and 2) do more personal projects, ychs, and other fun art related things without having to worry about the long list of people waiting on me. This will also avoid the occasional problem that pops up when people confuse being on the waiting list for having an active slot.

Next up, website changes
I have added 2 new features to the website!
1) A feedback section, in cause you want to send me some anonymous feedback. (Here's a link to the form)
2) A price calculator, that way you can get an accurate idea of how much a commission will cost. Feel free to play around with it! ((Here's a link)

Now for the smaller changes
1) There have been some minor updates to the tos to account for the change to a slot based system. Mostly just scrapping TOS information that was only applicable to the waiting list. As well as some minor wording changes.
2) I will start posting sketches! Patreon will still get 2 weeks early access to all my work, but sketches will now be public alongside finished pieces.
3) I will start taking sketch commissions!
4) I am only taking ONE large background commission a month.
5) While I hate honestly scripts, I do plan on writing out a loose script/form for filling commission slots. That way I can make sure everything that needs to be brought up is mentioned and nothing is left out.

Now I've been debating making some changes to the Patreon for a while now... partly to future proof it and partly to help myself grow as an artist. As many of you might know, a large part of getting your work out there is to post places regularly. I have a history of being very bad at this. Only posting on Furaffinity once in a while, and only posting finished commissions.

I want to get better at this. My first step has been to set up postybirb to start auto posting more regularly. That way I can be more regular even with my more fluid schedule. I've also started posting more places. This might grow further, I haven't decided yet to be honest.... *I've been told tiktok would be a good business decision but I kinda hate the site with a passion so its going to be a hard choice for me...*

However I've been debating posting sketches more places than just Patreon. It would help me get my name out there and be incredibly helpful in terms of posting more regularly. (I could also start doing more sketch commissions potentially? ) The only thing making me hesitate is that it would be taking away a major Patreon perk. I would love to hear your guys opinions on this and if you have any possible solutions of your own you would like to recommend.

One thing I do plan on doing is becoming more formal with my Patreon updates and posts. Everything from now on will be posted exactly 2 weeks in advance.

Also I plan on getting more formal with commission slots. At the start of each month I will post my commissions open page on patreon first, giving them all a week heads start. After that the slots for the rest of the month will go public. I only plan on filling slots 2 weeks at a time for now just to make sure I dont over schedule myself.

Lastly I might look into starting a discord server. If I do, Patreons will have perks there as well. The only thing stopping me is the fact I would want it set up very clean and formally. Plus I would need a moderator if the server eventually got too much for me to handle. I cant always be a social person...

I dropped my tablet pen in a cup of tea last night. ;u;) It wasn't much so I was hoping I would wake up and it would of dried out... but unfortunately the pen is now faulty and will need replaced.

There will be a few days delay on commission work until my replacement arrives, but once its here, work will resume as before. :3
