Wow, This Explains Why I'm Not Artistic
Posted 9 years agohttp://www.bbc.com/future/story/201.....ntil-last-week
While I don't have much desire to draw anything, I have made a few different creative attempts in the past: layout design, very bad photomanipulation, 3D modeling, and writing just to name a few. In all those attempts though, I always felt there was something lacking in my results, and I don't just mean inexperience. The fact that I can't visualize things describes that feeling to the letter, and it explains why I always need so much help designing things.
When I try layouts I have to do trial and error too much, when I did 3D modeling I could never make anything remotely organic, and when I tried to write visual descriptions were always the parts that stumped me. When things can be technical or measured though it makes it a lot easier for me, and I can explain a feeling or experience much easier (which is probably why I default to writing when I do try to create something.)
These are always such interesting situations: when you learn about a long-time limitation you never knew you had.

1000 pageviews?
Posted 10 years agoI'm pretty surprised since I haven't made and submitted anything myself, it's just been commissions.
Still, thanks everyone for looking.

Workplace Gripe I
Posted 10 years agoMe: I need to do A.
Boss: I don't like A, learn to do B instead.

Me: I've learned how to do B.
Boss: Great, now do A.

Year Complete
Posted 10 years agoI need an excuse to do more journals, and a birthday is as good an excuse as any. This has probably been one of the best years I've had in a long time but it wasn't easy and the next one won't be any easier.
I plan to buy a house pretty soon and am currently looking around. It's pretty intimidating but it would be nice to own my own place and I think I can finally pull that off. It stinks that there aren't many good quality smaller properties. I don't need a lot of space, just a space that's mine. The larger properties are better investments though and that is one of the reasons I'm looking to buy.
As for my online life, I want to get more commissions from various artists if there's any money left over from the above venture, and would like to focus more on getting traditional commissions instead of those typically offered in-stream. I'm very happy with the art I've got so far but would like to have my character done in more art styles. Related to that, I also want to finish my Quest for Clothes™ to finalize my character so it will be possible to get a proper reference page done. And it sounds like a good idea to get more pics that don't involve transformation anyways to make my gallery more diverse and less fetishy. But until I find out how much I'm going to need to get my own place I'm going to be pretty cheap with my art buying.
So in short: had a good year, about to have a hard year, and plan to get more art at a slower pace.

International Tabletop Day 2015
Posted 10 years agoWent out and played some board games, which is something I don't get to do very often. Lost on Pandemic (highly recommended), lost on Carcassonne (ditto), won on Labyrinth (actually not that fun). I had a good time overall, I just need to find more opportunities to play these games.
