I know how much we all like helping animal rescue groups. There is going to be a bowling fundraiser June 21st at Bel-Mark lanes in Ann Arbor, MI. It is $20 for a ticket which gets you shoes, 2 games, and an hour of all you can eat pizza and pop. There will also be an auction of various items donated by local businesses. Ok I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make AC until now. Now I can't find a hotel room anywhere near the convention.

Anyone willing to put up 2 furries that are not shy about paying their own way?


If not don't worry. I will just bring the bus and drive in. Not sure how party nights will work that way... uh sleep in the car, wake, go back and shower/change and come back? Doubt it.


now another question: is something else going on that weekend or is AC going to grow that much this year?

Since there was such a great response to the Lego Fur Badges at FCN2011, I think I'm going to open for commissions after I finish a couple of more gift badges.

I am going to charge $20 for a badge. This will get you the digital badge as well as a laminated badge with a clip mailed to you.

I will consider doing more art trades with people.

WOOOOOO!!!! This weekend was FCN! It was awesome. I spent a lot of my time with Seek and the charity. However, I did get some time to hang out with old friends, meet a lot of cool new friends, and I purchased some cool art in the Dealers Room. Shout outs to  kotto and the rest of the Penn State Furs that I met.

The charity was amazing and the con-goers were super generous. The end total that the charity took home was over $5000. That is about double their normal annual donations. They were in tears and as a result, everyone else at closing was too. Seek was so excited since this was the first year that the charity actually attended the con and they loved it. Also, I want a greyhound now... they were super adorable and loving.

My lego badges were pretty popular. I actually went out to OfficeMax and printed out 60 business cards I had designed. Between handing them out and laying some around the con, I think I gave out 50 or so business cards. Along that vein, I entered into my first ever art trade. One of my friend's friends, Reimori, like my lego badges, so I agreed to draw her one in exchange for a sketch in my new sketch book. It was really cool. I have another art trade in the works with Kotto too. I have a couple of more gift badges to do but I believe I will open up commissions for the badges.

I also got to hang out with a lot of the FCN staff and the Dorsai Irregulars (the security team). That was really cool too.

Sadly, I had to come back to reality yesterday and get some work done.

So, my boyfriend Seek Lynx had a badge idea of Lego Furs. So, I ran with it. I decided to draw a bunch of the Toledo Furs first. Eventually I will be moving on to drawing some of my other friends. I don't know if I am going to take commissions for them or just make gift art. The only issue with the gift art idea is printing and sending the badges cost money. I dunno... we'll play it by ear.

So, everything went really well in Chicago. I love hanging out with my friends and some new people that I got to meet this con. I got to see Kyotsu and Oz Tigah's new fursuits. They are really cute and they made me really want to get a partial myself.

Since I'm still relatively new to all of this, anyone have any tips on how to go about this. I am assuming that the first thing I really need to do is to commission a reference sheet since I don't have one of those. Hmmm... I might considering seeing if I can commission Efenrai to do both since I thought he did an amazing job on Oz's partial suit.

My printer is out of ink so I went to Walmart to print out "Pygar Bookmark". The lady at the Photo center almost wouldn't let me buy the print of it because she thought I stole it. I suppose I should be flattered that she thought it was pretty good but it was annoying.

So AC2010 is over... *sad face*

But I had one great time.

I started my journey on Greyhound on Thursday. Thanks to  aobeznez for the ride to and from the Greyhound Station in Toledo. It wasn't a bad trip but not one that I am thinking I will take again.

Highlights:

I figured I'd post a journal here before hunting down a spot with complete strangers XD.

I have pre-reg'd for AC and I am planning on travelling Thursday (getting there maybe around 6p via Greyhound) and staying until midday on Monday. This is only my second furry con and my first time at AC, so I am ridiculously excited.

I am not against sleeping on the floor (I will most likely bring a couple pillows for myself) and I don't really have any preference for sex/drinking/smoking in the room. I don't smoke but am used to the smell; I drink socially; and, sex... well, we'll see . I would like to be able to crash (probably around midnight) until 8 or so because a tired Panda is a not-happy Panda.

If anyone has a spare spot in their room, I have monies (some, at least) and not afraid to spend it. .

Please let me know ASAP so that if noone has room, I can hunt down a place through the forums.

Awesome-sauce! My advisor has agreed to let me have June 24th-28th off. Granted, I didn't tell her it was a furry convention. I did tell her that 1) I would be going to Pittsburgh with friends and 2) it is the only weekend we could go, so I was telling part of the truth. Now to reg, find a room, and figure out my travel plans. Murr!

So, it looks like I will be at Morphicon for the day on Saturday. Hope to see people there.

A couple of my friends (Deca and Alistar) have been slowly trying to get me into the fandom for a couple of years now and I must say I am sad that I did not get into it earlier.

This weekend was my first Furry Convention and I have to say I had a GREAT time!!! I want to send some great complements to the staff, volunteers, and vendors at Furry Convention North and the staff at the Sheraton in Novi, MI.

I never thought that going to a furry convention would be so much fun. I went with some of my friends (Zeboa Zen and Harlequin) and met with Deca, Draco, and Alistar. I was pretty nervous because it was my first time around all of those mysterious furries. I don't think I have ever seen that many of AMAZINGLY nice people all in one place. I don't think I ran into anyone who wasn't kind.

I spent some time in a couple of panels and in the vendor's room. However, I spent a lot of my time in the Game Room at FCN watching and playing Rock Band. I met some awesome band during the Rock Out Knock Out Tournament called "Stupid Drunk Furries". I don't know about the first adjective but they definitely were drunk on "motivation" which contained Gatorade and Vodka . These guys welcomed me into their band as their light guy and one of their groupies. It was really fun singing with the guys when other competing bands were playing "Living on a Prayer".

Some other great highlights were listening to Uncle Kage ranting, watching the failure of trying to blend Glo-Sticks in a Blendtek Blender, watching Draco DJing and dancing at the Saturday Night Dance, going for Bubble Tea in Ann Arbor with Alistar, Zeboa Zen, Harlequin, and Teddy, and getting my first con badge and panda ears.

Before FCN2010, I wasn't sure whether I was a furry. I had decided if I was, I was going to be a Giant Panda. As soon as I felt how welcoming the fandom is and once I picked a name for my fursona, I knew this is where I should be.

Shout out to some of my new friends: Odendo, Kyotsu, Nanaki, Aurora, Mozee, Dingo, BunnyHugger, Wag!, FoxTuba, Odin and Irish Fox (as well as the other two guys of the Stupid Drunk Furries), {edit} and Eenyu (I forgot how to spell her name until today).

And a special thanks to Sandy Schreiber for helping bring my fursona to life by drawing my first con badge.
