OK, my last sort of rant on this subject.
I've been reading some of the journal posts on the whole Prop 8 thing and the responses. I'm glad it's being discussed and I agree with most and disagree with some of what's being said.

To this end, I just want to say one more thing.

Sexuality is a very complex thing. It can't be defined by black and white definitions that society wants us to live by. Since it's a taboo subject for most, there's little discussion or education about it despite the fact that it is a big part of our lives.

I'm tired of being told about who I am by people that know nothing about me. Assumptions, generalizations, misinformation run amok when it comes to people's opinions about homosexuality.

If you really want to know about what it is to be gay, talk to a gay person or a community organization like pflag or egale. Especially, if you think you might be yourself.

If you feel compelled to hate or dislike us, the least you can do is try to understand us.

Think about it, if I really wanted to know what it's like to be a woman would I ask a man? If I really wanted to know what it's like to be Italian would I ask a Brazilian? If I really wanted to know what it's like to be a Christian would I ask an atheist?

The biggest irony of all, is that every one of us has been misunderstood before, for one reason or another. We all know what it's like.

Ignorance is true root of all evil. (..and most of the real problems faced by humanity)

After the events in California and some other states, I can't help but feel it today.

I'm gay. (oh no, here goes the pansy) I've always been gay because I was born that way. I didn't sit down one day and decide "hey, I think I'm going to go through my adolescence doubting myself, being called a faggot, feeling and fearing rejection from my family and friends, being ashamed for who I am because I'm told it's wrong." I did however, experience all of that, not by my choice but because of the ignorance and hatred of others. For too long gay people have been made the posterchild of evil by religion, self righteous moralists and even governments.

We're told "hey, we love you but we hate what you do!" I've even been told to my face that I was being 'tolerated'. Well darlings, I can't tolerate you and your bigotry guised as some self righteous value that I'm supposed to swallow like some fucking Stepford wife.

Well today, to those who judge my being gay as wrong, I say:
FUCK YOU!

If you don't like who I am, don't talk to me, don't look at me cause I don't want know you and your bigoted stupidity. (hey, that was almost a poem!)

Fortunately for me, I live in Canada which for all it's faults, has accepted us and recognized our rights fully. For five years, gay people have been getting married. Our society has not collapsed, the sanctity of straight marriage is still strong as ever and everything's just fine... is anyone really surprised???

You see, gay people have to swim upstream from the very beginning. We begin our lives learning all the hypocrisies and injustices of our disillusioned society. We watch our straight friends openly love each other and wonder why we can't do the same. Some of us don't make it, suicide, drugs, depression all take it's toll. Some live most of their lives denying their feelings and eventually hurt themselves and those around them.

Fortunately, most of us make it. We emerge strong willed and proud of who we are. We take the punches and abuse that society throws at us and laugh at it. We live life to it's fullest and celebrate all that's wonderful about it, never rejecting others but accepting everyone. We prevail and will always do so despite the maligned efforts of others.

We encompass all races, genders, religions, nationalities, organizations. We're your siblings, parents, friends, lovers, coworkers, leaders and followers. Your biggest fans and your worst enemies. In other words we encompass all aspects of humanity and yet, we are still second class citizens in most of the world. It's still ok to hate us, actually, it's encouraged. In some countries, being who we are is punishable by death.

I think what's come out of this rejection of gay marriage is anger and there's nothing worse than an angry queen.

To the leaders of the Mormon Church, you have the audacity to ask for civility after threatening our rights??? How about we move to ban Mormon marriages! I mean you guys are into polygamy aren't you, I'd call that a pretty good threat to the marriage of 'a' man and 'a' woman.

I get asked once in a while "what's with the name?"

Pythor was an evil character on the 80s/90s show Power Rangers. He never actually appeared on the show but was only a concept for a future episode that never happened. They actually made/sold toys of his character which I understand are very collectable because of this.

Years ago...The name Pythor was given to me by a friend (who was a power ranger's fan) when I needed a nick name for my wrestling league (yes I walk the talk). ...and it stuck! When I joined FA it seemed natural that my character would be a cocky python named Pythor.
