Man of Steel? ShYeah right
Posted 12 years agoSo I watched Man of Steel this week and I gotta say, Superman2 was better.
I watched Superman and Superman2 the night before to amp myself up for The Man of Steel. That it did! Then I watched MoS and well I really liked it, but over the course of the passed few days more and more nagging issues keep cropping up. To the point where I genuinely feel like they ought to have asked Terrence Stamp back for Zod. Because believe me, you will NEVER forget that man's performance, and God help me I never want to.
Okay to those who haven't seen Man Of Steel BEWARE MU-FUCKING SPOILERS!!!!!!!
Superman2 has it's fair share of problems I certainly recognise. But by far it is a better film than Man of Steel. That's right I said it!!
Not that I'm dissing Man Of Steel, I'm not but from a story point of view there was a lot of glaring problems.
2 scenes dealing with the exact same exposition. TMNT(2007) had the same problem the
opening scene explained who Zod was, what he did, the fall of Krypton and so on.
Then we get it again from Jor-El when he lectures Clark. Just intercut the intro scene with
Jor-el's lecture and save us the agony!
-Why did Zod want to destroy Earth again? When he pitches up Clark goes with him without a
fight. If he wanted to save Krypton there was a planet called Mars not too far away. Strike a
deal with Supes, colonise Mars and walk away. As far as him being bitter towards the house
of EL..Eh..it didn't really feel like that was the driving force behind his actions. He keeps
talking about how he is the protector of Krypton. Nothing really about getting even with Supes
in the beginning of the film.
-How do Kryptonian's powers work exactly? They said it was mostly to do with the
atmosphere..so why in fuck's name would you Terraform the planet and become weaker
beings? Also how long does it take for a Kryptonian to lose his powers? I certainly don't buy
that one breath of Krypton's air could make you as weak as a human.
-Superman was never fleshed out. Oh sure Clark was fully explored, but Superman, not so
much. See I understand why Clark had to keep his identity secret. I understand the he's
burdened with his powers. Multidimensional that Clark Kent. But Superman? I don't know
who he was. This Superman doesn't feel like a guy who will take time out to rescue a cat out
of a tree. He barely rescued anyone directly while in the suit. Do a body count. Clark saved
more lives as a working hobo than he did in the last half hour as a superhero. He had a
charm to him, but he wasn't charming.
-The killing of Zod. Now this is somewhat connected with the above statement. How can I be
angry with Zod's death when he helped kill the last dozen or so Kryptonians on that
ship(including that one hot looking soldier who escorts Lios to the ship's 'cabin'-no it wasnt
Faora-she had a ponytail)? Simple they were part of the massive disaster movie scale
collateral damage. No, no. This was different. He snaps Zod's neck because he was going to
kill some family. You know what I thought was going to happen? Something like Clark would
put his hands over Zods eyes and take off into the stratosphere. Maybe Zod would keep trying
to burn through his hands and end up blinding himself. Because you know what? Clark lived
his whole life on earth, goddammit, he should be like 10 times stronger than Zod, because his
cells 'drank in the radiation' of earth's sun, so his hands wouldn't be burnt through! That
was just lazy.
-Kiss me Clark, no, move your head to the left, no your other left, wait, have you done
this before? The most awkward in movie history. You could cut the awkwardness with a
..a..bazooka. That thick! At this point in the story Lois and Clark are good friends. They
understand and trust each other. They never even gave each other loving glances. It
was badly written.
-The Justice League movie? Nope. They blew their load with this one. Superman is the most
powerful being in the DCU, that doesn't mean he's an SSJ4!! If Akira Toriyama Start
Dragon Ball with Goku at SSJ3 and then said he's going to team up with 7 characters all of
whom are weaker, would you care? The bar has been raised to the point that when A Justice
League movie comes out the fight scenes will be so intense pregnant women 3 cinemas
away will give birth, children will grow into full adults and comic fans everywhere will cover
the cinema screens with so much jizz that it would end super hero comics forever! And not
because no one would be able to capture the same magic, because the cleaning of that
much jizz will be enough to drive anyone insane...just ask yo momma!!! Boooyah!!!
It felt like the movie wanted to make Kryptonians and their gear so credible that they left out the key ingredients to a Superman movie. Now, I may sound like this movie was the pits, but I like it. I'm sure my second viewing will be better. The fight scenes were amazing, a bit hard to follow, but amazing. My favourite bits were the flash back scenes. Very poignant, engrossing and tear-jerking. Kevin Costner..I want you to be my dad. The movie just concentrated on things that really weren't necessary. Honestly, why try to ground the movie in gritty realism? He's Superman, he should be a little tongue in cheek, cheesy and slightly(slightly, I say) camp. Because he's fighting for things that nowadays most people find fault with and laugh at because they're childish. It's great that he fights for truth, justice and the American way, because no one else is. These are indeed ideals for an ordinary person to strive for, albeit overly patriotic, but when that's said it comes from an innocent frame of mind. Where you make a choice to see nothing but the good in people and then fight for it. And who better to bring back hope and faith in these things than Superman.
ps Sorry for the long journal. It got away from me hehe

Commissions and junk yo!
Posted 12 years agoHey all
I have received quite a few notes and messages concerning commissions.
Thanks for everyone's interest! I really appreciate it.
Right now I have to close commissions otherwise I'll be way too swamped to get any of my regular work done.
Regrettably, I am also going to close the comics section of my commissions until further notice. Again I am way too swamped to do any more commissioned comic pages. So going forward I'll just be doing Pinups, you know until further notice. :P
To those who have commissioned me, fret not the comics you have asked me to do will be done and I'll totally keep in touch with you.
If you have any questions please send me a note.
And again, thanks for all your support guys.
You all rock !!!!

Posted 12 years agoHey all.
I'm back with a slight vengence! I'm working as a freelance comic artist with commissions on the side. So far the most fun I've had drawing, I'm up til 3am most nights completing whatever page or art I have to do. It's awesome.
So far I'm just sending in art to adult pay sites. It's pretty cool! I can finally do the projects I've been putting off on. Yay me!
At any rate I am open for commissions. So if you're interested send me a note. Or just drop a line, what ever is your fancy.

Crap Crap and more Crap
Posted 12 years agoHi all
Most will have noticed that I have been rather absent from Furaffinity.
Not willingly, mind you. A lot has been happening,
First off my Laptop and wacom table have been at odds and ends with each other. I plugged it in and nothing worked.
So I'm getting that fixed. Yay me.
At the same time I've had to reinstall my OS on my laptop because it was as sluggish as molasses uphill in a snow storm. And as with everything not all my work and junk was backed up.
Ontop of all my troubles I am leaving my new job (one months notice given) because it is apparent that my job has become dead end. So my friends and I have started a company which I am going to be very busy with.
This doesnt mean I'm going to disappear from the face of FA. Just readjusting to new things.
So for now commissions will be closed.
Later dudes!

The end of the Challenge
Posted 13 years agoSo I finished my 24 hour challenge. Some may ask, "whatever happened to that?"
Well. I answer...I did it. and only got 18 pages in. 16 of them completed to lettered inks.
I just had to go with a detective story and now it's just getting interesting.
So I have to complete this a cursed project so I too can gain some sort of closure.
Dn't worry I'll post the pages I've got soon :P

The 24 Hour Comic Challenge
Posted 13 years agoAt noon today. I, Rabies T Lagomorph shall partake in this challenge.
24 hours to create a 24 page comic. A fully illustrated book with one tone colouring with lettering all in a single day. So I'm heading out later to buy provisions, energy drinks maybe even drugs so that working all through the day can be a lot more comfortable. At the end of the day what ever I have will be posted on FA and DA.
I have a general plot in mind so at least I won't be diving into the dark.
Have a look at the rules here if you're interested in doing the same
#
I encourage artists to make time in their schedule and try it out.
Anyway I gotta go and prepare my soul :-P

New year and suchness!
Posted 13 years agoHappy 2013 everybody!
It's my day back from a long and awesome holiday and already I've already hit the ground running with office work. Yuck!
At any rate I'm really psyched for this year. This is the year I become a full on freelance comic/illustrator. So commissions will be open to all unless things get too busy. So feel free to hit me up with questions or simply just say hi. Basically I'm planning on producing more comedy and filthy and a comic or two.
And may this year be a fruitful one for all you righteous dudes and dudettes!

Posted 13 years agoCool thing, I have become a mentor of sorts to the intern in my office.
We do corporate comics, a Mickey Mouse operation of sorts. Anyway he's been showing me his work and asking for advice and yadda yadda.
Can't tell you how awesome it is to have an apprentice. Yes, I call him that, whether he wants me to or not. He's grateful I haven't yet called him Padawan.
Anyway I showed him all the things needed to print comic, publishing, self publishing and so on. And it filled me with a certain amount of happiness when he told me that he got his comic into the hands of a publisher already. Then I was filled with a bit of depression as he was able to do something I have wanted to do for ages and never had the time or energy. I guess when you draw all day for a machine that really has no interest in anything other than it's own interest you get caught up in the rat race.
Looking through my old sketches I had some truly awesome ideas. All I needed to do was just make the comic lol.
At any rate, I hope I can finally get passed the design and script stage this time around.
Squealing over!

If only I were rich
Posted 13 years agoDuring a conversation I had with a friend, I realised that were I rich, I'd draw porn. More than any human ever should.
I mean, that's what I'd do all the time.
My rich friends would be like "Rabies, come with us to the Lacrosse game, the Duchess is going to introduce us to her daughters. I hear that they are all quite exquisite, smell of roses and such."
And I'll be like " How dare you!!! I have porn to draw"
I'd have Jeeves kick them out on their asses and return to drawing! With a steady eye on my laptop screen, a swift right hand doodling away and an even swifter left hand under my table, coz...you know. Yeah, you know.
I mean, it's not like I have no ambition. I just happen to have an ambition that involves me drawing an obscene amount of girl on girl on girl on girl on girl on (lucky) guy action. I personally I don't look at the stuff I draw as filth or any such thing. I think it's fun. I find that any well done porn, peppered with humour is easier to swallow (pun intended) that's why I always keep it light and funny. I don't know about you guys, but it's nice when an artist or writer goes the extra distance of not taking his stuff too seriously. I like to make that effort to lighten up my sex scenes. It adds something extra. I'd do it with all my ideas. ALL OF MY IDEAS.
Sadly I must make money first and sexings later. Man, that sucks........and not in the way I want it to.
SCHWING!!!!

Commissions closed----for now
Posted 13 years agoHey Guys
Suddenly I've got an influx of new work.
A comic. Just fell into my lap for a guy I helped out with some art for his little south american book.
So for now I'm gonna be busy with that.
After that I should be opening up booking slots for commissions yet again. Hopefully it will be around November.
Oh the guys who have commisioned me, ya'll will get your work done and dusted :D
Until then I shall continue to pump out as much filth as my little hands can manage.
Keep well senors and senoritas!
(apparently I'm Spanish now)
Thanks for the love!

Rabies here. First real post of what will inevitably turn to truly filthy sexy anthro art.
Most will be funny all will be sexy. Or I'll eat my hat. no i don't own a hat, but rest assured that I'll find a hat and chew on it post haste.
Anyway this is just a quick hi-dy ho of a journal.
G'bye...to the rabbit-mobile!
