The End of The Road [Update]
General | Posted 8 years agoHey guys, I just wanted to let you know that no new commissioned art will appear on this profile. Instead, all of it will go under my 
CobaltFoxie alias from now on. I've grown tired of having to manage two separate aliases. At MFF it got pretty confusing, so I made the choice at FWA to only operate under the CobaltFoxie alias. I think this is the way to go from here on out, so it's the end of the road for commissions as RadicalTanuki. Any work commissioned before FWA will be finished as Cobalt.
This account will become my personal and vent art account, so you'll still see uploads on here. If you like my art but are not interested in following Cobalt because of the content, I'll be posting updates from time to time as to when you can commission me on here.

On the Rocks [Happy New Year + Resolutions]

Wishing you all a happy new year! I already plan on making 2017 way better than 2016. Here's a few artistic resolutions for the new year:
- I want to have commissions organized by month. At the beginning of each month, I'll open up for coms to be completed by the end of that month. That way I'm able to set tangible deadlines and have a fixed schedule.
- The exception to this would be months where conventions are happening, in which I will be open for preorders only.
- commissions taken at cons will ONLY be take-home unless the con is one I only plan to do work at. This way I'm not losing sleep over projects that I take in while at cons.
- all take home work is to be completed within one month of the convention.
- I am going to define a solid, tangible price guide that I will use into the foreseeable future.
- I will be dedicating time every day to art.
I'll update this with more info as I think about more ideas.

When Can I See You Again? [update]

You can keep up to date with me a lot easier on Twitter, but here's a recap of my life since MFF!
- I debuted my fursuit at MFF. I wasn't happy with it, and I plan on remaking the head eventually.
- MFF itself was fun. I had fun when I was venturing out on my own and taking fursuiter photos. There was a lot of complications with a certain person that really put a damper on things, but thankfully I won't have to deal with it anymore when it comes to future cons. Met people, met up with old internet friends, had an over all fun time. AlkaliBismuth and XanderTheBlue are pretty rad. So is JackTheCoonBro (Thank you again for the Amiibos omg <3). Fursuiters are cute as always.
- After MFF I continued to hang out with some local furs. They've become my closest friend group, can't imagine life without them <3
- I fell into another depressive streak after MFF, but I got a job and soon got back into the motions again. It is just hard living from one event to another with so much monotony in between. Hanging out with friends has been a good remedy though.
- Refined my art style a bit more. You can see it more in my most recent submissions.
- Met up a few times with DiezelRaccoon and Co. in Indy, after hanging out a bit at MFF. Got to help him film a few vines, and even co-star in a few! (1 2)
- Got a temp job at a convenience store in January, just in time for me to be able to pay back RadRuler for the MFF hotel (Thank you so much for your patience I'm sorry I'm a dork >///<) I'll be leaving it this week to go to my summer job that's reopening (thank god). I missed it so much.
- I'm going to be attending FWA! right now I have a twitter poll asking what song I should use for the con video. It's between Lemaitre - 1:18, Owl City - Verge, or Owl City - When Can I See You Again?
- Speaking of FWA, my friend Ziggy-Zerda will be DJing Thursday night! Come dance your heart out.
- I started dating someone, but I'll leave that up right now because I think it's too early to come forward with that just yet.
- I have met SEVERAL new friends since MFF that I plan on meeting up with at some point. You guys are super rad!

It depends, but most of the time sure!
Rules of engagement (physical contact):
Follow basic Fursuitting 101 rules if I am in suit. (Don't approach from behind, touch without permission). Out of suit same stuff really.
Can I visit your room?
If you are invited. Don't get creepy!
Con Events:
What/where will you be eating?
Con Suite or whatever random restaurant we plan on eating that night.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Only if invited.
Are you doing anything outside of the con?
I might go and visit a retro game store that's in downtown Chicago, and take pictures of downtown, but since I won't have my car this year it's pretty unlikely.
Will you be at any panels?
Dragget, Kage Story Hour, 3-Headed Monster, Too Much Light, the dance comp finals, etc.

Not dead, I've just been other places!
Here's a recap of the last 6 months:
- Dropped most of my spring courses that I was failing
- Retook one of my older classes over the summer, came out with a B
- Went to IndyFurCon, made SEVERAL new friends

- Got barred from the fall school semester because of misfiled paperwork
- been hanging out with the KyFurs (which mostly involves playing smash bros and being salty)
- still on my summer job at an ice cream place (it's a love/hate relationship this year)
- Been drawing and experimenting with my own style way more (you can see my art on my twitter: https://twitter.com/RadicalTanuki)
- Planning to go to Midwest Furfest (and make a con video of it too! I learned a lot about editing from the ifc video)
I've been slowly learning to love myself again. I'm just happy that I have good friends to keep me company.

An update since the last journal:
I'm feeling way better than I was before. I am way more optimistic about my goals and life in general. I feel way more motivated than I used to.
I got out of my shitty job and am now back at my summer job that I absolutely LOVE. I really wish it wasn't seasonal.
I have started drawing again and am working on minor tweaks again to my style and design philosophy. I'm also taking a LOT of reference photos.
I've made new friends, and I have gotten my shit together with school. Everything is going to be different from here on out. I am now an active member of KyFurs, and I have started hanging out with some of them too.
So yeah, I'm feeling way better. Love you all.

On Melancholy Hill [update]

I was going to start this journal by saying that I've just been busy with the real world and that's why I haven't posted much recently.
But that's not true.
In the fall of last year I started feeling pretty down. A lot. I failed 2 courses last semester because I simply lost motivation and couldn't bring myself to working harder. I simply shrugged it off at the time and kind of sailed through the holidays and midwest furfest and up until recently. My school performance was starting to hurt again this semester and I just didn't have the energy to deal with anything.
If you know me, you know something is wrong when I start feeling like playing video games is a chore.
Again, I kept pushing it off until I started thinking things. I started having visions of suicide. I was thinking about dropping out. I was unsatisfied with how my life was going. And I kept thinking these things more and more frequently.
Every time I had a vision of me holding a gun to my head, I always pushed it away. I knew I wouldn't ever actually do it. But it kept appearing more and more often, until I eventually broke down.
earlier this week I went and saw a psychiatrist and as it turns out I have been suffering from depression. I'm now on a treatment plan for it and I just hope that things move forward from here.
I'll get back to drawing eventually, but obviously new commissions are closed for right now. I'll get back to working on ones I already started.
(PS i'll be titling my journals as songs from now on)

Digital Works are Coming Soon!

I really want to push my digital works since I think they can be way higher quality than what I am able to produce on paper.

Where I've Been
General | Posted 11 years agoLet me preface this by saying I wasn't only inactive on Fur Affinity for these last 11 months. Thanks to school and jobs, I've been busy.
Why am I back?
I initially planned on coming back to FA once I had a large catalog of art to post, but that just couldn't happen due to how little I was producing. That's not to say I wasn't still drawing and experimenting with my style, however. It was just that I didn't feel like the art I was producing had enough time put into them to be seen by others. So instead I lurked the fandom but mostly kept to myself.
And then MWFF happened, and I realized why I fell in love with this community in the first place. (you can expect a con video in the near future) Midwest FurFest was the most fun I have had in a long, long time. I had never been around a group of people where I felt completely safe and could actually being myself before, and I wanted more (I know that sounds really fucking hammy, but stfu).
Where are you going from here?
Art! Yes I'm going to finally be posting again. Don't expect insane turnarounds and production frequency though. I am taking it slow this time. I'm going to really work hard on each piece. And hey, if all goes well, maybe I will open up commissions.
