Still Kickin'

After getting settled with my new job, I was quickly overwhelmed with the amount of hours and physical stress it required. It went from a great 40-50 hours a week to 60+ as soon as the holidays came around. It took more out of me than I care to admit, but I've finally transferred out of there to a much more comfy and consistent job within the same company, so I've been regaining some of my lost energy. I'll admit it was rough, but so far the new place I am working has treated me much better. ^^
Quite literally, that's the only real update I have for y'all in the last 6 months. I've got a few commissions I'll be posting later, but I still have had no progress in my writing. :/ Hoping to get some of that motivation back soon now that I've returned to normal-ish hours!

I figured I should give you guys a big update on some of my personal life since it seems like I've fallen off the face of the earth, aside from a few commissions here and there. Everything has been going rather well for me, thankfully, but it has been stressful, haha.
Earlier this year, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life (so far!) and made the giant trek from living in Ohio with my family to living with some good friends of Verro and I's down in central Florida. I've never lived away from my family before, so it was already a big step for me, and now I'm working on building a life of my own! That being said, it's definitely taken a toll on my creativity and, generally, the time I have to spend online. I'm much more socially active than before, which is good and bad for my introverted self.
I struggled at first to find a job, and then the job I did find was only temporary as they didn't offer me enough hours/wage to support myself, so the last few months have been a struggle in finding something that works for me. Now that I found a full-time job with good benefits and pay, it's a very physically-demanding job with a schedule ill-suited for my "night-owl" standards, but I think it's a good change for me overall!
Just recently, I finally caught the coronavirus, after working retail ever since it began, haha. Having a few health issues of my own could have complicated the virus, but thankfully all I had to deal with was an annoying cold for like a week. The worst part was losing my sense of taste and smell, but as I write this now, I've already gotten most of it back. I've had the last two weeks off of work and I go back to the grindstone tomorrow, so it was a well-needed rest, but I unfortunately wasn't nearly as productive as I wanted to be lol.
I am still struggling to finish the third chapter of "First Date" with Irelia and Michael, and there is another commission that I've been meaning to finish for far too long. I feel awful for not having completed those by now, and I feel like my motivation for writing has taken a huge blow. Heck, I've been struggling with writing since my previous job in Ohio, since that took a lot out of me mentally and physically too. Maybe I'm just not cut out for labor-intensive jobs, haha. While I wish I could promise something in the near future, I am unfortunately incapable of predicting my poor motivation. It used to come and go, but now it seems to have abandoned me fully. :/

Life Update
Posted 7 years agoWell, it's been awhile since I've posted any content, and I figured it was time for an explanation!
I haven't had the proper motivation to write for a while, though I've been trying here and there. The problem is now that I've started a new job where I'm working 60 hours a week! I have a considerably less amount of free-time than what I had before, and I'm beginning to adjust to that. Unfortunately, this job leaves me pretty exhausted at the end of each day, so I'm typically put off at the idea of writing. =P
I'm hoping to continue some of my stories that I haven't finished, and I'd also really like to write more on "Pieces". I keep getting ideas for revising the whole thing, but I'd think it would be best to finish it first before I start over from scratch again. "XD Otherwise, you can expect me to try and finish "Of the Same Blood" and hopefully continue "Clan Wars" and "The Wounded Dragon". Knowing me, I'll probably start a new story anyway. >.> I do have two short-stories in the works that I'd like to finish, too!
On top of work constantly keeping me busy, last weekend, my family and I moved to our more permanent home; we're no longer living in a rental. We haven't entirely finished unpacking, but the house is nice and the neighborhood isn't bad either. ^^ The previous owner also left his aquarium, so I've adopted a fish~ c: And I named him Jerry!

I had an absolute blast spending time with him and getting to see him for the first time! ^-^ We spent the weekend at Megaplex, a furry convention in Florida, where I had the chance to meet a lot of new people and make more friends. Life News + 300 Watcher Special
Posted 8 years agoWell, it's been a few months since our fire, and we've finally got a plan set in motion. ^-^
We've been living at my grandparent's for the last while. Everything's been going well here, and I have no complaints. It's been comfortable!
Today, we partially moved into our new home for a year: a rental in a nearby town. The plan is to wait a year, build up a good credit score, then go shopping for a permanent home. We got the majority of our appliances in, and now we're waiting on a couple beds, desks, and a few other things.
I've recently built a brand-new computer! One that runs all the games I want in the best settings. =3 So, most of my time is being poured into that, and sadly that means less writing. =P I hope to pick back up with that soon. I may put "Pieces" on a little break and work on some other things, namely the result of the survey, whatever it will happen to be!

Angels with Scaly Wings

I've spent most of today playing through it UNSUCCESSFULLY. I've gone through so much heartache trying to find the best ending, but damn, it's been an enjoyable experience for me. I've completely immersed myself in this world and I've completely lost track of time. If you're a fan of dragons (and reading), then I imagine that you would enjoy this too! It has a very interesting plot line as well as complex characters you can create and form relationships with! It really tugs on the heart, and my emotions are all over the place right now, which is probably why I feel inclined to make this journal. XD However, if you do not like blood/gore or death, this probably isn't the visual novel for you.

Some Life News
Posted 9 years agoI typically avoid sharing too much about my personal life and what goes on, but this is something that affects me majorly, and in turn will affect a lot of my activity around here.
So, to get right to the point, my family and I have lost our home due to a tragic fire incident last night. Everyone is okay, though we lost our two cats and nearly all of our possessions. Shit sucks, but I'm really looking optimistically at all of this, as deranged as that may sound. XD I'm a little bummed about losing a lot of my stuff, but they were just possessions anyway. My family is perfectly healthy, and that's all that matters to me. However, I did manage to save my laptop (where I write and keep all of my stories) and my 3DS, so I'm well-off in the current situation. ^-^ We're currently safe and staying with my grandparents, who live only several miles away.
Really, this is a huge step in the right direction for my family. We've never had much money to work with and manage to scrape by for the most part. Our house wasn't in very good condition, and it would have cost a lot of money to fix things up, which would have honestly put us out worse than the entire thing burning to the ground. =P Because, with our insurance we'll be able to afford either moving to or rebuilding a brand new house: a fresh start, if you will. It'll be a rough couple of months--and maybe longer--but it'll be worth it in the end. This journey will be an experience I won't forget.
I'm sure some of you may be curious of the details, so I'll go ahead and say what happened. Only my father and I were home while my sister and mother were out shopping. My father was changing his vaporizer battery when it suddenly exploded and sprayed sparks and hot oil/acid which caught flame almost immediately after. Both of us tried to put the fire out, but it was growing far too rapidly and the smoke was intoxicating. We had to give it up and call 911. I managed to grab a few of my possessions that mattered most; I was mostly worried about my laptop. We made it out okay, but sadly we couldn't do anything about our cats--and neither of us even thought of them at the time. I've never truly felt so panicked before and my thoughts were so muddled: it was very difficult to process anything.
A few more explosions went off after we were outside. My dad is a computer geek, so he kept the pressurized cans of air for dusting in his room. Six of those things exploded, and boy was it loud--like gunshots. XD After that, some electrical sparks went off and spewed off the side of the house; they sounded and looked like fireworks. Meanwhile, the fire blazed higher and higher and quickly ate up the attic/roof since we kept insulation and cardboard boxes up there.
It was a surreal feeling to just stand there, completely helpless, watching as it all went up in flames. I can't recollect how much time really passed, but it felt like centuries before the Fire Department arrived. By then, half of the house was burning. I'd say it was probably burning for about 10 minutes before they got there and were able to spray it down.
We waited for a long time, and I didn't get to see what the inside was like until today. But our neighbors were very supporting. Many of them offered their help and gave us some things. I was only wearing socks at the time as I didn't have time to put on shoes, so my friend's mother brought be some brand-new shoes to keep. Our family and relatives have been very helpful too. Many organizations have already reached out to us; we received a $500 gift card from Red Cross to buy some more clothes, which we did today. The generosity of people has been surprising, but very, very welcome. I can't thank everyone enough--and it's too bad none of them will see this message. =P I'm very grateful.

TL;DR: House caught fire, everyone is safe and healthy, the house is FUBAR, rough couple of months ahead, but looking forward to them!
So, to get right to the point, my family and I have lost our home due to a tragic fire incident last night. Everyone is okay, though we lost our two cats and nearly all of our possessions. Shit sucks, but I'm really looking optimistically at all of this, as deranged as that may sound. XD I'm a little bummed about losing a lot of my stuff, but they were just possessions anyway. My family is perfectly healthy, and that's all that matters to me. However, I did manage to save my laptop (where I write and keep all of my stories) and my 3DS, so I'm well-off in the current situation. ^-^ We're currently safe and staying with my grandparents, who live only several miles away.
Really, this is a huge step in the right direction for my family. We've never had much money to work with and manage to scrape by for the most part. Our house wasn't in very good condition, and it would have cost a lot of money to fix things up, which would have honestly put us out worse than the entire thing burning to the ground. =P Because, with our insurance we'll be able to afford either moving to or rebuilding a brand new house: a fresh start, if you will. It'll be a rough couple of months--and maybe longer--but it'll be worth it in the end. This journey will be an experience I won't forget.

Posted 9 years ago Finally home after spending the entire weekend in Pittsburgh!
I had a lot of fun at Anthrocon, and I look forward to attending again next year! It wasn't as terrifying as I though it would be. =P Everyone was very friendly, and the staff working the convention were very awesome. It was a wonderful experience where I had felt much more comfortable than I had previously thought I would.
If anyone is interested, I took some crappy pictures while I was there. Nothing too fancy, a lot of sights, and not very many fursuits (except for the parade.) I was very shy and didn't ask for pictures. x.x But here's a link to the album: http://imgur.com/a/PS6Cy ^-^ 57 photos organized from my last day to the first. Pretty much everything was taken in Pittsburgh except for a few at the end.

I'll be attending with some friends. We're heading there tonight and will be around until Monday! So, I'll be rather busy for these next several days and won't have an opportunity to really write, but I'll still be posting at least one chapter onto my latest story. ^-^
