Monster Hunter 4 turned out to be far more addicting than I anticipated, so much that I've barely done any crummy scribbles to put up on here. Oops.

looks like im gonna need a Whetstone on scribbling.

ps I'm a bit more willing to hunt online but im still a bit newb. :V Only HR3 online because I'm trying to power through most of Caravan (at 8* quests now), but I see I need to do more online to get certain monster quests. FC is in that profile thing below.

I suppose its high time I dive face first into this series after enjoying the demo of 4, so I went out and bought this and a New 3DS today (my old one's L button is completely non-functional, and blowing doesn't work anymore).

I'll more than likely will be doing single-player for a while to get familiar with how everything works but I'll be joining the hunt online and get sent home in a cart. :D

Sure seems like it. I've been significantly less anal about how my drawings look and accept them for what they are, instead of trying to make them look super perfect. It wasn't easy to break the spell though, it took a few years to even recognize that as the main issue (I blamed poor drawing skills beforehand) and another year or so to get rid of it. Ultimately perseverance is paying off.

I think the amount of things I've posted in the past month is almost equal to everything I posted in the entirety of 2013. Srsly.

It only took several years to see some positive development, but the important thing was not giving up.

2014 was a good year. Let's see what happens in 2015.

hey its that time of year again where i grow a year older. whoopie :V

for once i got a paid day off (plus one regular day off) so i can unwind for a bit. i don't expect much to happen but not having to work is good enough. :P

might be able to finally practice moar drawing for a bit and maybe work more on this one thing ive been tinkering with for the past month or so

With Mario Kart 8 around the corner I figured now was a good time to get a Wii U. I was originally gonna wait until Mario Kart 8 bundle came out at the end of the month, but I figured I could get a better deal through getting the current bundle with NSMBU and SLU, my employee discount, and the $20 bonus points from KMart just for buying the U. Apparently you can get another game for free by registering MK8 on their website so a Wii U + 4 games for about $300 ain't too shabby at all.

Thinking about getting 3D World and MH3U at some point in the near future as well. I liked what I played on 3DS so that'll be something to watch out for. :V

why the hell didnt i play this game before this is my new favorite action RPG ever. it routinely kicks my ass but i say fuck you game and keep charging forward. nothing like shoving an electrified sword into a giant vagina dragon's...yeah im hooked. im on New Game+ at around SL90-ish atm. despite beefed up equipment this time I still get my ass handed to me. i almost feel kinda bad that i only paid $7 bucks for it on Steam a while back, would've gladly paid full price for it.

now im totally hype for Dark Souls II. Maybe I should give Demon's Souls another try too.

so during my usual period of inactivity i picked up Pokeman X and

i love it

i want a fucking Goodra even if its stats arent the best its so damn adorable

...Rockstar wasn't fucking around with this game. There's just so much to do and all kinds of little details in this game its insane. I've been playing for about maybe 10 hours or so and haven't even gotten half of the map (including underwater) explored.

Also, Trevor is the greatest GTA character ever.

I can't wait for the online portion. D:

...into a new apartment that is!

Finally I managed to sort out my living situation and landed a 2br apartment within my price range. It ain't the greatest but its a decent start. At the very least I got more space in my new room. :P

With that sorted out I now just gotta make sure I don't end up late for either of my jobs, and pick up a few other things along the way. It's been a rough ride but things are starting to wind down a bit.

Once everything is settled I could probably take drawing out of the backburner for once. :P

I should've mentioned that I got a second job recently so somehow I might appear even less active than usual. I know I said that I've been trying to get back in to the swing of things as far as artwork is concerned, but real life problems say otherwise. I'm still working on it though.

You can still see me hanging around Steam and occasionally MSN/AIM though, so I'm not completly dead. :V

And I thought it was actually pretty good. I kinda like the somewhat deranged art-style compared to the show personally. The writing was pretty sharp, and I thought Chrysalis was p. cool.

Admittedly I haven't been focused on drawing like that one time i posted a grand total of 2 worthless sketches. Primarily I want to avoid being burned out on it so quickly so I'm looking for other things to fiddle around with in addition to doing that.

Like for example by re-using some parts from my old PC (and shopping Black Friday), I managed to build my first-ever custom PC for under $200. :D The new parts were:

AMD FX-4100 3.6GHz (I realize its not the greatest, but it was $79 so I said why not)
Gigabyte 78LMT-S2 ($39)
Rosewill Challenger Case ($39) The blue fan was pretty :(
G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB 1666MHz [2x4GB] ($36)

I also got a 1TB External Drive and 16GB Flash drive for about $67 total.

I intend to replace my old no-name 400W PSU with a XFX 550w on sale at Newegg for about $55, and eventually a new GFX Card and a USB 3.0 Reader. For now I'm using the integrated card and I'm not overclocking anything yet. Once I get more cash I'll eventually get a better processor or even a whole new motherboard. Still kinda itching for an Intel, but they're too fucking expensive for me right now.

One thing's for sure is that I'm never buying a pre-built PC again. It's waaay cheaper and I get to pick the parts I want. It's also pretty easy to do (though it helps I already knew how to replace most parts in a PC). :V Maybe now I can start running games like Skyrim at something higher than 15FPS.

I also got my eyes on giving 3D another shot since I have a better computer this time around. Maybe...

(Oh and I kinda wanna learn how to make music too instead of just "remastering")

rain and wind has definitely picked up here (Norfolk, VA) and its only gonna get worse. Should probably call out from work since I'm stuck with the unreliable bus system.

well i finally figured out where the hell i went wrong with my drawing i think!

It seemed to have stemmed from when i did a "reboot" waaay back in late 2008. I hit a point of stagnation, which was due to the fact that at the time I kinda didn't practice basic fundamentals and just went at it. I was in that mindset you see on DeviantArt where its all like "omg i dont need anatomee cartoons aren't realistic!!!1". Wouldn't recommend it folks. After that I decided to go all the way back to square one and do all of the things I should've done before. I decided I'd also have a bit more self-criticism so I don't fall back into making those sloppy drawings again.

...except it seems by doing that I created an even bigger problem. Because slowly over time I got more and more critical of what I drew, expecting to be at some standard that I never even reached. It got to the point where I'd even quit a drawing barely even several strokes in just because one line was off. The things I posted in my gallery during that time were more or less "lucky breaks", because I'd fall right back into it immediately afterwards.

It wasn't until a week or so ago I decided to look back at my older works from '05-'07 (back when I crapped out artwork). I started to cringe and make fun of how ugly they were. But despite how ugly they were they had something in common: I still went through with them. I asked myself why the hell can't I seem to do anything right despite drawing better than before?

It was because I wasn't so damn hard on myself back then. The entire time I was thinking the problem was with the way I was drawing, but it was actually how I was seeing it.

So with that in mind, I'm starting to take measures on ridding myself of this overblown self-criticism, allowing myself to inevitably make and fix mistakes and working with the ability I have now (it'll get better overtime with regular study). Couldn't tell ya when I'll be seriously active again but I thought I'd let you know (again) that I'm still trying ok. :V

tl;dr I unwittingly gave myself overblown self-criticism that created a 4-year art block and I'm only just now realizing this a week ago. Great job Rage!

Leon's campaign wasn't too bad. It at least had some frantic moments where I was out of ammo and was swarmed by like a bunch of zombies, unlike RE5. A flashlight would've been nice, because I could barely see what I was shooting. :V

The rest was awful and very un-Resident Evil. It also has the most counter-intuitive cover system I've ever seen in a shooter(HOLD L1 to cover, HOLD Left/Right or Up to pop out, Aim with RS, Shoot with R1.). Doesn't help that the aiming seemed over-sensitive. I actually stopped the demo partway through Jake's campaign.

No thanks, Capcom. This wannabe Call of Duty stuff is exactly what the series doesn't need. Just expand Leon's section up into a full game and I'd be totally OK with that.
