Patreon Poll
General | Posted 11 years agoPosting this because I'm not sure how many people keep an eye on the Patreon. Anyway, if you're a patron, you might remember me writing up about creating a monthly poll that patrons could partake in and help decide on pieces. That is now implemented, and available to patrons who donate $5 and up.
So, I urge patrons who have donated $5+ to go over and vote! And if you want to partake in that poll, or just help out a bit and get some patron exclusive looks at things that are in the works, well, the Patreon is right this way!
http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien
Thank you guys for your patience in the mean time! College has become a royal pain, finding a job has become a royal pain, and the CKC Comic, which I love, is being eclipsed by the previous two. ;w;
Again, thanks and hope you guys are in good spirits! Until next time!

Commissions are not going up for a little
General | Posted 11 years agoPoint blank, school sucks so I don't have time for commissions right now. That's the short story, so if that's all you're worried about, that's what you need to know.
Longer story:
School sucks a lot.
I'm expending loads of money to keep up with school right now. This should be the ideal time for me to take commissions. Except, I don't have the time. School is asking for loads of time from me, so I need to look for a part-time job to help supplement that. I'm still trying to find that nice balance between school and self so that I can still keep up with art.
I got loads I want to do and loads I have to do. But school is being a pain and asking for a lot of that time in return. And a lot of money. It's currently just a struggle to stay calm when I'm being forced to spend more money that I have in a long time.
I was wanting to take a couple of commissions. But I'm not sure I can. For now, I need to focus on my studies and finishing up the comic. Also finding a part time job in the hopes that can supplement some money.
Now, if people want to help, I'm mulling over donations. However, if you know you can help in the long term, I have my Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien It's an easy way to help fund me and helps me with a little income.
I'm still trying to figure it out, I'm certain that putting out sketch requests for everyone that donates is a huge hassle now, so I'm thinking I might instead try something else: A poll that lets patrons decide on the subject for a monthly piece.
So, if you'd like to help out that way, that'd be great! If not, no biggie.
So, yeah, that's what's going on. Hopefully things will improve, I just need to be tighter on cash.
Thanks for reading and hopefully I'll be able to find an equilibrium here soon. ;w;

Birthday. Yay!

That's it. Oh, and I'm working on one decent sized commission. Gonna try to get that one squared away before I start on new ones.
But, yeah.

I'm gonna be a colorist!
General | Posted 11 years agoThis should probably explain why I was hesitant to take a lot of commissions: http://kaijucombat.com/community/in.....ic-book.13673/
I'm going to be a colorist for the Colossal Kaiju Combat comic book! Some of the specifics aren't exact, but to my knowledge, I will be coloring the art of Frankie B Washington and I will be getting paid when it sells!
We are looking for a letterer, someone who writes the wordings and sound blurbs into the comic, so if you know of someone who is well versed in that, we would love to know!
But apart from that, this is my first time collaborating with a team to create a comic! And I'm so excited! I'll be sure to keep you guys updated as things go forward.
In other, unrelated news, I've been hit by a huge Digimon kick. Wish a new Digimon game would come stateside. Actually, I saw a petition to bring a 3DS game over (right here, the group seems focused on bringing Digimon games in general over) so hopefully Namco will take notice. You guys may also see me try to satiate that craving with art.
Anywho, thanks for reading!

Commissions (Limited Slots, Wait-List Priority)
General | Posted 11 years agoLike I said, limited slots (about 3) and Wait lists are a priority. I'm trying to improve my turnaround time. So that, you know, I don't develop bad habits that could hinder my ability to be independent in the future. And stuff.
If you've been put on my wait list, you get priority! But please contact me soon so that we can hammer out the details.

Commissions Update!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, now that school is drawing to a close, Commissions are finally going to see significant progress, along with whatever else I owe.
I've gotten a couple requests for Commissions, so far, and I would really like to take a couple, but I'm going to have to put up the waiting list. In fact, I'll let you guys know where I am in general:
I have about five commissions in my backlog. Actually, six, due to a guy ordering two commissions. One is lined and waiting on flats, the rest are pushed back from school. :T I'm sorry to make you guys wait so long.

General | Posted 11 years agoA reminder to help support me on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien
You're only charged once a month and I've tried to make it easy to not consider going over budget. Even if you're not interested, do help spread the word! uwu
$1+ patrons get access to early concepts for content I'm creating!
$5+ patrons get the above and a free sketch request (Safe for work, of course)!
Also, I've got a couple patrons who need to tell me what their sketch request is. So, please, let me know! ^w^

Patreon
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, I was suggested to Patreon a little while ago. It's a site that works a bit like Kickstarter ... except it's continuous and doesn't have a focus on one huge project. Basically, it would allow me to have a job, while also continuing to create the content that I love. So, I decided to set up a page:
http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien
http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien
http://www.patreon.com/SpottedAlien
I would love to have your support! But, I would like to make something very clear:
This is not charging for my content. I was going to continue drawing whether I get paid $8,000 a month for it or if I go into debt for $100.
But, given the option of getting paid for releasing continuous works and drawings over something, like, flipping burgers ... I mean, I'd take that, wouldn't you?
Please feel free to support me! It would mean a lot! uwu

Happy Easter!
General | Posted 11 years agoCan't believe I forgot to wish that to you guys! ;w;
Well, anywho, happy Easter! Be sure to enjoy it, whether it be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on the 3rd day, or eating chocolate, petting bunnies, and finding eggs. Or both! Or niether.
I don't know. I'll mostly be doing the first one. Maybe some of the chocolate.
But, yeah. Here's the previous journal, so that you can read up on that: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5686009/

Updating the Peoples on my goings on
General | Posted 11 years agoFirstly, commissions.
Still got a couple I got to complete. Sadly, school has not been helping with the workload, so it may be a tad longer. Apologies to those waiting, I really do not mean to have you waiting so long. ;w;
Also got an art trade I'm working on. This is not opening up the flood gates. I did this on a whim.
Still jobless, but, again, school's not helping with the search. Besides, a few commissions on the side will do me for now.
Also, Progenitor votes are up at CKC! If you're a design team member, I would ask a vote for Sizemosaur!
Gonna have to start looking for a new monitor, sadly. The one I have now won't let me do some things (I suspect due to a low resolution), so the search for that is going to have to start.
I watched Frozen and Captain America 2. Frozen was okay, don't get all the hype about it, though. I only found it good, not astounding or revolutionary by any means, but decent. Cap 2 was pretty good, but I was kinda cranky that weekend, so that may have effected me. I wasn't crazy about how it seemed like every fight would have several casualties, ideally. Kinda bothered me, honestly. But it was still really well made and driving (if a bit paranoid, for me).
Got my hands on a game called SolForge. I quite like the game, it's a faster Magic the Gathering, but with levels and what I find to be a play system that definitely mixes things up. I recommend. uwu
Trying to think of ways to allow for donations and such. I don't really want to give out my e-mail. Also trying to figure out how to make something and then post it up so that people can buy copies.
Ugh.
Overall, though, I'm not doing too terrible.
So, yeah, long journal. Thanks for reading!

Everyone Needs Commissions!
General | Posted 11 years agoTime to push commissions! 'Cause me and a friend are in a tight spot.
My friend,
satsumalord, has recently found himself unemployed and could use a few commissions to stay afloat while he looks around for another job.
I, myself, had a job interview and was quite prospective about getting a job! But, they turned me down, so, back to the grinder for me, as well.
So, in total, that's two people who could benefit from commissions.

Commissions Open!
General | Posted 12 years agoFinally!
Now, to get some of the jargon out of the way:
Price list:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12962003/
Things to consider (these will effect price):
Characters
How many characters will there be? How big is the character? How much detail do you want in each character?
Composition
How do you want it set up? Do you want a dynamic composition? Do you want a background? Simple or detailed background?
Canvas Size
How big do you want the picture to be? A larger picture will make the price higher.
What content will I be drawing? Monsters, anthros, humans, mechs, and a few other various things, but those tend to be my strong suits. If you're going to commission something that might need a Mature Content tag, talk with me about it, we'll hash it out. If it's something that without a doubt will need a Mature Content tag, I won't accept it.
Reference
Please provide references, but not an overload of them. Telling me to make up character designs will result in me turning down your commission. This is too much guess work on my part and I cannot read your mind for what you want. However, I don’t want a 300 page document of fiction describing your character in excruciating, vibrant detail. I expect some art and a brief description to help me get a feel for your character.
What I want to know is:
1. Who is the character and what are they like? Are they an egotistical thief? Are they a humble knight? Is she a rich governess?
2. What is the overall theme for the composition? Epic? Calm? Silly?
3. Updated work of your character is preferred.
4. I would like to reiterate to keep it brief. I want to know what you want, but remember that I will still be interpreting your ideas. It will not be perfect, but I will try to get as close to what you want as possible.
Payment
I only take payment via Paypal (points for the commission widget). I will take payment in two installments, half the total before I start and half the total upon completion.
I will not begin on the commission until I have been sent payment.
Expectations
I will deliver to you your commission so that it is to your liking in a fair amount of time. If I am running late, I will notify you to make you aware of the situation. I will keep you updated on the progress of the commission, ensuring that it is coming along to your liking. If you are not able to finish payment due to some circumstances or I cannot finish the commission, you will receive a full refund.
I reserve the right to refuse my services. If I feel your request violates my terms of offer, I will turn you down.
Contact
Please PM me via Note. I will not release my e-mail for Paypal payment until I’m sure I can trust you.

General | Posted 12 years agoSo, I thought I should probably give an update on my health, since I'm probably worrying some people:
The kidney stone is taken care of. I went in for surgery, say, a week or so ago, and I've been recovering well. They still don't know what caused it, but that just means I have to keep an eye on my diet and water levels. Nothing new there.
Now, commissions.
If you want to commission me now, and have DA points and are okay with a preset option, go to my front page and look for the Commissions widget.
Still need to make a price sheet, I've been dragging my feet on that. But I know what prices will look like.
Assuming one orders a single character, simple background, at 300 dpi (I tend to start at 5 in x 6 in digitally):
Sketches will be about $10.
Clean lineart will be just a little bit more, $15-20.
Flat colors will be a little more still, Starting at about $20 (simple colors) prospectively maxing at $40.
Full color will start at $40, and go until $60.
Why the varying price ranges? The amount of time I have to spend on a piece varies. Assuming I spend an hour on a piece, I have to charge $20. The more complex a piece, the longer it will take.
Why do I go by $20 per hour? I kinda hate to share this, but I'm currently unemployed. In fact, I have been for a while. So, I don't have a job to create additional income. On top of that, I don't expect to get constant business from this. I expect to get a small trickle at least. So I can't afford to nickle and dime myself.
What content will I be drawing? I don't have the time to list everything at the moment, but if you're going for monsters, anthros, and other pertaining stuff, I'm your guy. If you're going to commission something that might need a Mature Content tag, talk with me about it, we'll hash it out. If it's something that without a doubt will need a Mature Content tag, I won't accept it.
That's all for now. Talk to you guys next when commissions are ready (hopefully)!

Commissions - Guaging Interest
General | Posted 12 years agoI want to guage the interest in commissions before I begin offering them. Please leave a comment if you're interested!
Working on a price sheet right now, but prices would run from $10-$60 on the high end.
NSFW content would not be accepted. While I'm good at lots of content, some things are more difficult than others and references would be needed. I also hold the right to turn down requests.
Again, please let me hear your interest and I'll begin getting ready to work on those.

Scary Scary
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, today I had a small scare.
At about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, I began to feel a persisting sharp pain in the lower left side of my abdomen. After a visit to the doctor and to the ER I discovered that I had developed 2 kidney stones: One that is just about to pass and one that, I suppose, is about to begin its journey.
This shouldn't really effect activity on here as I've been assigned medication and I myself have a prime suspect for how they developed (I've been having a bit too much salt over the past couple of weeks), so I'm going to drink more fluids and lower my salt intake/have a more balanced diet, period.
Still, that has to have been some of the worst pain I've ever felt. And having lost a couple hours to the ER, I've begun to rethink how I should approach life, especially my projects. Hopefully, this will see me being more diligent in getting out content and creating my stuff.
tl;dr: I was in lots of pain, much better now, gonna keep it monitored, gonna keep trucking along.
