After just getting back from FWA and going through my commissions, I realized I had a ton of traditional art I've gotten that I've never posted anywhere! So after downloading a half-decent scanner app for my phone, I decided I'm going to finally start to upload them! I'm not sure how much art I'm going to get this month, but this'll be a great way to celebrate Mayternity for all of us!

I've been thinking a lot about the stories for my characters and I've decided to change some things around. More accurately, I think I'm going to cut out some of the baggage of their backstories that doesn't feel accurate to how I see them anymore. I wrote a lot of those stories a long time ago and some of them feel like they were written by a different 'me,' so I want to make some clarifications.

Daph:
As my most popular OC, I've done a lot of stuff with Daph and tried out a lot of things. She's a malleable character I can do a lot with. That said, I want to make some changes to her backstory. First off, everything in the book 'For Her' is absolutely 100% canon. It's not the first Daph story, but it's basically where the canon starts. The main thing I'm changing is that the surrogacy depicted in 'For Her' is the only other time Daph will be a surrogate. Her only other pregnancy past that will be with her partner, Holly, and it will be with their daughter. Also, any commissions she's featured in with other characters or crossover stories with friend's OCs are no longer canon. That isn't to say I'll never write those again, just that they aren't canon to Daph's story.

Jessie:
She's my oldest OC and the subject of the first furry story I ever wrote. I decided to lightly re-tool Jessie recently and I want to start fresh. Her older stories, 'Damned Babies', 'The Summoning,' and 'Give The Devil His Due' are no longer canon. In a nutshell: Jessie wants a baby as a single mom, but IVF is expensive and she doesn't want to use one of her friends as a sperm donor. Her solution is to use her occult knowledge to summon a demon to impregnate her, but on her conditions. I'll write more about all that soon.

Marcus:
Since Marcus and his husbands are my newest OCs, everything about them is canon at this point except for the crossover I did with Ritt's characters in the story 'House Call.' I noticed some inconsistencies and decided to just mark that one as non-canon.

Mike/Liz:
Mike is just a self-insert furry version of myself and Liz is the same, but genderbent. There is no canon for them.

Hey guys! Been a while. So lately I've been putting more focus on my non-furry writing and attempts at traditional publishing, along with a couple attempts at a novel. While I am focusing on that, I do still get the bug from time to time to do some self-indulgent belly stories, so don't think they're going away. However, I've noticed they don't really do the numbers they used to, so I'd like to open up a poll to get an idea of what you guys might want to see from me in the future.

Opinion time! Do you guys mind when I split stories into two-parts? I do that because roughly only 16 pages worth of story fit into the text box. I don't like to split a story into two submissions, but I do want something that can be read right away without opening a separate document.

Happy New Year everybody! 2018 was a garbage fire so let's pray this year is a bit easier on us.

First off, I just hit a 500 watcher milestone on here and I want to thank everyone for following along with me! Whether it's for the stories, the art I get, or a little of both, I'm happy that about 500 of you are on the same weirdo brainjuice that I am!

So two things: First, I really need to pick back up on uploading some of the latest stories and commissions I've done. It's something I've been putting off and I really need to get on that. The reason I hesitate is that posting stories the way I do here is such a pain in the ass that I takes like thirty minutes to an hour just to post it and get the formatting right. It sucks.
That leads into my second thing, which is that I'm considering expanding to more galleries on SoFurry and DeviantArt simply because they're so much better for hosting written work. I won't leave FA, but I'd like to branch out into an audience on a website that doesn't run on a stack of graphing calculators from 1991.

Now, last year I had a poll suggesting what I might do in the coming year (I have no idea if I managed to meet those goals), but I want to do that again without the poll. So! Is there anything you want to see from me this year? Maybe something new, or something I should do more often? I don't know! So here's something that's been on my mind lately and I figured you guys might find it interesting.

One of the problems with an implied furry 'world' is that there's a lot of logistical problems, especially the closer you make it to our real world (probably a reason that sci-fi and fantasy are so popular in the furry fandom). It's even more confusing because everyone sort of makes up their own rules for it. This isn't a problem in visual art as much as it is in writing, where you have to have unwritten rules to establish.

In writing furry stuff, I keep a running list in my own head of specific rules that make sense to me in a world of anthro animal people, so I think it might be interesting to go through my own 'headcanon' of what makes sense.

1. Feral Animals Still Exist: This is probably the biggest logical question that needs to be addressed. In the furry writing I do, I assume that the feral versions of animals still exist, which leads to a lot of other considerations

Pets: I feel like furries would still have pets, but very very sparingly, a lot less than we do in real life. Having a pet of the same species as you would come off as very creepy, almost like a fetish thing, but pets like fish and lizards are more common. Basically, think about how many people you know that have a pet monkey. That's about how many people have ANY pet in furry world

Carnivores: Furry people still eat meat from feral animals, but I imagine that vegetarianism and veganism is WAY more common, maybe something like 70 percent of the population. Some species have to mostly eat meat and it works pretty much the same how it does in real life, just with the balance shifted.

Comparisons: Comparing an anthro with their feral counterpart in some way is usually seen as really offensive, even more so in rural parts of the world where feral animals are still used as tools and for farming. Sometimes its not an issue between friends, but it's not a common thing to do.

2. Real World People: In an effort to keep the furry-world relatable to the real one, in my writing, it's assumed that real-world people, famous people, still exist, just as anthros. They do the same things they do IRL, but they're just furries. Movies, tv shows, books, all of these things are the same because the people that make them exist. It also makes a fun game to think of what animal you wanna represent a famous person with.

3. Humans: There are none. No humans. Nowhere. They aren't a thing.

4. Gender and Race: I imagine that gender roles aren't quite as rigid in the real world for a few reasons. First, sexual dimorphism in a lot of animals mean the females are big and beefy and badass, so it stands to reason that the myth of 'Men=Strong, Women=Weak' doesn't really fit. In that same way, with trans people, I imagine it's a lot easier for transgender furries to 'pass' without surgery or HRT, though the discrimination is still there. Now, in regards to racism, it would probably be with better regards to speciesism. i haven't given too much thought on this, but I'm sure it still exists, but with different dynamics than we're used to IRL

I'm sure there are more that I don't have fully formed yet, but these are sort of the 'rules' i follow in my head when I write stories in a furry/anthro universe. Of course, there are exceptions and I'll make sure they're clear in whatever writing I do, but assume that most of these are true for a given story you read from me.

So I just recently finished up a pretty big commission series for  Nikaro based on My Little Pony. It was a lot of fun to write and I think it came out well, but I'm not exactly sure if I should upload it to this account. It's partially that most of what I write here is based on OCs without any straight up fanfiction type work, so the pony stories would kind of stick out. My other worry is that furries and MLP fans don't always cross over super well.

So what do you think? Would you wanna read some stories about small pregnant horses here or should I post them somewhere else more appropriate?

Sorry I've been a little AWOL lately, but I wanted to leave the Daph novel as the last thing I submitted to give it time to sink in. One of my goals for this year is to get it posted as an e-book on the Kindle marketplace with some bonus chapters and some art included, so look forward to that!

I've got some uploading to catch up on in the next couple weeks of some stories and old commissions I did, as well as some original stuff I'm working on! One of my other posting goals of the year is to work more on things for myself, because 2017 was dominated mostly by commissions and work for other people.
Adding to that, I've got two new OCs that I'm going to start writing with! The first is Artie: the chubby ex-navy leopard seal who teaches kindergarten and Nadia: the quiet and thoughtful but passionate cow painter. Expect to see more of them soon!
