The Joke
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, most writers will tell you that writing comedy, and by extension delivering a joke, is both very difficult, and risk taking.
Here - http://www.alexfvance.com/?tag=presentation - Scroll down and check out the Narrative Techniques panel by
Alex Vance. In it, he talks about several tricks you can use in your writing, and eventually comes to...the joke.
I've always been curious about trying to deliver a joke. That's especially because I don't write comedy. I've written things with... say, comedic/amusing undertones such as Carnal Shock, but never actual...comedy. Because, again, it's a hard thing to do. But I figured sooner or later I'd give it a try myself, because I wanted to see if I could actually do it or not. It's a time when every writer is faced with a challenge and asks themselves, 'can I do this?'
So, I tried it. And the result is Push For Silence. I decided to approach it with British humour in mind, because I personally love British humour. Specifically the kind of British humour you'll find in the works of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, namely Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Fun, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
There's certainly other elements of comedy in the story as well. I don't really know how well the "joke" paid off, but I certainly tried, and I'm very glad people like it so far. If you find it funny, amusing, or hilarious, then that tells me that I'm doing something right. I think. :P
But it's one of the few attempts I've ever tried at writing comedy, and I can't see myself doing it too many times in the future, because...it's hard. But who knows; if I get enough response from Push For Silence, and if enough people like it enough and find it funny, I very well may attempt to try it again soon. We'll see. :)
In the meantime, those who haven't read it, take it look. :) If you're a fan of my writing then you might enjoy it and see the irony as well as the joke I tried to deliver. Check it out - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6486147
And the one final thing I wonder is...did anyone get the joke? :) If so, what do you think it was?

Well, it's official now
General | Posted 14 years agoAccording to a lovely article on Wikifur, found here -http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/List_of_most_popular_phenotypes - Foxes are now the most popular species/fursona in the fandom. As if some people didn't already know this, of course.
Buuut it happened! After who-knows-how-many-years of wolves being on top, they have been... knocked down. Knocked down and fucked by the foxes! Such a shame.
I guess you all better head over to
kyell and congratulate him on his secret plan of world wide foxy dominance. I'm sure he'll love it. ;)

Many Dreams Come True
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, it's definitely been a crazy last few weeks for me.
My story, Walking on Clouds received two absolutely beautiful illustrations.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6194779/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6218418/
Both were made by the fantastic
spottyjaguar. Even now, I still look at them, and I can't believe it. They're actually my characters, and they've been brought to life like this. It's just wonderful. It wasn't even done for any publication purposes or anything either; I just loved the story, and Ian and Jamie are two of my most favourite characters. This is honestly my most favourite story that I've written thus far.
I'd also like to get an illustration of Lannon and Kurtis, my otters from Bang to the Beat. Imagine who I'll get to do that illustration. :3 And for those that liked that story, there will be a sequel called Fade to Black.
Also, I got published! My story, Snowfall got accepted into the Rocky Mountain Fur Con conbook. The theme for the con was 'I Need a Hero!' so I came up with a superhero story of my own. So those of you who were at or still are at Rocky Mountain Fur Con, I hope you took a look at the conbook! There's also a surprising amount of other stories in there, too! So my first published story. I'm elated. :)
I've also finally got a story for the Further Confusion 2012 conbook! The theme is called 'The Infurmary', and I have to say, it was quite hard to come up with something good for a theme like that. But I eventually came up with something satisfactory. It will be another story with Ian and Jamie.
Lastly, for those that don't know, I have moved back to the Bay Area after almost a decade. I wasn't born there, but I did live there for twelve years previously. Anyway, that's about it!
Also, I should probably put out a disclaimer that I am NOT turning into an otter. That was a joke and a ploy for my latest ottery story. I'm still a wolf. :)

General | Posted 14 years agoNah, I'm just fucking with ya. :P I just wrote some otter porn - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6158496
It was bound to happen sooner or later. :3 And for anyone obsessed with specifics, they're river otters. :P That said, I do think I probably would have done the same things Lannon did if I was in his situation...

Relationships, Gay Issues, Education
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, right about the time
Alex Vance's was working on my stories for the Bad Dog Book Club, I asked him for his thoughts on my writing. Him being the badass writer behind the Heathen City/Maranatha series, as well as the editor and owner of Bad Dog Books, well... I'm sure he's gonna have valuable input. He had some things to say. One of which, was point blank:
"You're into relationships, gay issues, and education."
He managed to sum up my entire body of work after having only read Carnal Shock and Blinded Troublemaker. I had to think about this for a while, and it was very clear.
He's right--this is the kind of stuff I write about. Most of the time. Which is totally not a bad thing. But the reason I do is because... well, these are the kind of things that are important to me, as a person, and important to me as a writer. They're the kind of stories I want to read, and the the kind of stories I like to tell. My sensibilities, in this regard, are very similar to
kyell's, and one of my editors was also keen to point that out. I love romance--it's what I strive for in my life, and I love to see relationships explored between two people. When you have two wonderful characters, like, say, Wiley and Devlin, and you do a good job of characterizing them in a way that makes the reader care about them, you can't help but WANT to see where their relationship is gonna take them; their highs, lows, pitfalls, and how they make up, etc. I love that kinda thing, and that subsequently shows up in my own writing. I like seeing how interesting people get together and explore their interactions. Relationships, on the whole, are the main focal point of my own writing, and probably every story I write is gonna have that kinda thing, regardless of the setting.
Gay issues are also important to me, and anyone who knows me knows that I'm rather militant in that aspect; as such, it also shows up in my writing from time to time. Education, well, that's more just the setting that I like to come back to every now and again, because a school or place of higher learning makes for all sorts of quirky characters, conflicts, etc. It's really the perfect kind of setting for contemporary dramas, in my opinion, because college kids are usually just like me and you. And most everyone has been to college, so most people can relate to it. It's the slice-of-life kinda thing, for me.
On the whole, it's really about the characters, for me. I remember when I did my Storytelling Panel with Kyell,
rukis, and
meesh back at Further Confusion, and I started it by saying every story, for me, starts with the characters--who they are, what they want, what they're all about. Then Kyell came out and uttered the very same sentiment, which made me feel really... validated, in a way. Character-driven stories--that's what I like to write, and that's what I like to read. They're usually far deeper than plot-driven stories.
A rather ironic example to this is the movie 'Battle: Los Angeles.' Plot-driven, all the way. Absolutely none of the characters are memorable, remarkable, or even unique. Seriously, think for one second: Did you even remember any of the characters NAMES when watching that movie? The only thing that movie had going for itself was the intense, realistic action, which was just awesome. Conversely, look at (and I'm gonna hate this)... 'Twilight'. Yeah, it's melodramatic, outrageously pretentious, and just plain fucking terrible, BUT, you remember the characters, who they are, and they do end up being the slightest bit remarkable, even if they're all dumbasses. Which they are. But still, it's still a story driven by unique (uniquely stupid) characters, as opposed to a story driven by characters who are completely expendable and forgettable. Unfortunately, they're characters who aren't interesting enough that most people would WANT to care about them, but... I've made my point. This is also the only time I will ever defend Twilight. It's still a piece of shit.
But, getting back to the main point; Relationships, gay issues, education. Yeah... I guess that's pretty much me, on the whole. But rest assured, it's not the only thing I write. I'm also writing a sci-fi action story... which is character driven. And a fantasy political intrigue story, which is also character driven. I guess the real defining feature about my writing is that all my stories, regardless of setting or conflict is about characters and relationships. Yeah, that's me. :)

Moving back to the Bay Area!
General | Posted 14 years agoYes, after nearly a decade of living up in the North, I'm finally moving back to the Bay Area, in California. Back to California? Well, yeah. Believe it or not, I actually lived in the Bay Area for twelve years--specifically Alameda County. Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Roman, Hayward, Freemont, yeah, around there. :) I'm sure that'll surprise some people.
Let's refer back to this - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1871724/
Yeah, Seattle. Anyone who knows me knows I love that city. I actually TRIED to move there (like seriously, I really tried to make it work), but my plan kinda fell through. :( So, to me, the Bay Area is pretty much the next best thing. I've always loved the Bay Area (except Oakland--fuck that city), and I never stopped missing it when I moved away back in 2003. Besides, it's not like I'll be able to live HERE comfortably and permanently for another two or so years (that's my ultimate goal), so... I figure I might as well spend my time living in a place that I actually LIKE, in the meantime. Make sense?
So, where am I going this time? San Jose. :) I was there for Further Confusion earlier this very year, and well... in addition to the absolutely splendid time I had at my first furry convention, it really reminded me of just HOW much I freaking miss the Bay Area. Seriously, I couldn't get over how happy I was just to be back there. Every moment was pure joy for me at FC and in San Jose, as a whole. The Bay Area (except Oakland) is actually up there with Seattle as one of the many places in America that I absolutely LOVE. And I never stopped loving it. :)
So, I figure now is a good time to move back there for a while. Besides, living up north is driving me insane. Really. Furthermore, I've been wanting to mingle with a REAL and lively furry community. I know a lot of furs in the Bay Area and the state, as a whole, and California probably has the largest, or at least, the densest furry community in the world, right now. No joke. I would have eventually been part of it if I hadn't moved away in 2003.
So, furs in California and the Bay Area! I'm coming back to your corner of the world, and I'd love to meet and hang out with you guys. Again, I'm really excited to actually jump into a real, lively community (the one up here is a joke). I'm aware of the furmeets, Thursday Night Chicken and Frolic, and... weird thing about me, I'm extremely shy in person. Like, you wouldn't believe. I can do well at a con, because I know plenty of people there, but at a furmeet? That's more like a... party. That'll take me some getting used to, for sure, but I'll definitely make an effort to go! Even beyond furmeets, though, I'd love to hang out and get to know people. :) So if any of you California/Bay Area furs feel like saying hello or anything, please do! I'll be glad to meet you! :)

Writing Question Part 9
General | Posted 14 years agoWhat's your favourite species to read or write about?
So...Lord of the Rings...
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, for the past month, the Lord of the Rings was actually re-released in theatres. The Extended Editions. It was to commemorate the new Blu-Ray release. So, they showed the extended editions of all three movies in theatres, and I NEVER, EVER thought I'd have the opportunity to see them, in my life, after missing out on them back in the early 2000's. I later fell in love with the series and I currently regard Return of the King as the greatest film I've ever seen.
So, naturally, I was jumping for joy to hear they were going to be in theatres, again. I went and saw all three films, each of which had a lovely introduction by Peter Jackson. It was one of the VERY few times the theatre audience actually clapped before the movie started, and again, after the movie was over.
The showings for all three movies were just... mind-blowingly fantastic. Half the time, I really couldn't get over the fact that I was watching LORD OF THE RINGS, extended, remastered, and on the big screen. Seriously, it just blew my mind. Return of the King, in particular (YESTERDAY!) was the greeeeeaaaaatest movie experience of my liiiiiiiife! Four hours of popcorn, Coke Zero, Dibs Ice Cream, and cinematic movie greatness. :D
Sorry, Avatar, I'm gonna let you do your thing, but Return of the King is the best film of all time! Of all time! :P
Beyond that, I've been thinking over it for a while, and with several people actually thinking I sounded like Elijah Wood in Cruelty (that shouldn't have happened) and like Orlando Bloom in Last Men Standing (that shouldn't have happened either), I went and did a little practicing, and found that I could actually pull off the voices for their characters in Lord of the Rings. To that end, I also talked with
foxamoore, who did the soundtrack for Cruelty and Red Lantern, about doing a small radio play for the Lord of the Rings. Soooo, Fox Amoore would be my wonderful Howard Shore composer to my Peter Jackson directing, I'd very likely voice Frodo, Sam, and Legolas, whereas
Alex Vance's would likely voice characters like Elrond, Gandalf, Gimli, and/or Pippin.
It's not like this would be something completely new for me. Remember this - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2159320/ - I've done voice acting for Lord of the Rings, before, but sadly, it wasn't for any real known characters. But this radio play... now that would be something REALLY fun. But, this is kinda far off into the future, in any case. Any Lord of the Rings media directed or produced by me wouldn't really see the light of day until late next year. And I mean, like around August or September, next year.
Hey, maybe I'll even release it right around the time The Hobbit comes out!
(And then maybe Peter Jackson will cast me into the movies!)

Apparently there's a misconception about me
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I guess with all the writing I've been doing, lately, people have definitely taken notice, which I'm very happy about, because, hey, I love writing. I'm very glad people are checking out my stories. But, there seems to be a common misconception that an inordinate amount of people keep making about me, which is... that I'm NEW to writing.
I can sort of see why people think this, because, most of the stuff in my gallery here is just a bunch of commissions and some voice overs. Creatively, I guess kind of established myself as just a voice actor. So, let me get this out in the open, and as clear as I can, right now.
I'm not new to writing.
What most people don't know about me is that I've actually been writing since 2004-2005. Surprising, eh? But, it's true. I didn't always write furry stuff, and I didn't start out writing furry stuff. Don't ask me what I used to write, or if you can find my old stories, though, because they're awful, and don't matter anymore. The point is, though, I've been writing for a lot longer than a lot of people think I have. :)
I believe the very first submission I posted to FA was an older story of mine back from 2008, I think, called Lustful Beach Goers. It was my most popular story on Yiffstar, at the time. Aaaand, it was crap, but people liked it, so I figured I'd post it on here. I've long since taken it down from FA, though, and I recently took it--along with all my older stories--down from SoFurry, too. For those that have paid close enough attention, they will recall that I've mentioned--several times, in fact--that I STOPPED writing in 2008. Stopped. As in, I WAS writing, and then wasn't. Because I was very upset when a flash animation adaptation of my story series at the time fell through (ironically, that wasn't being handled by me). I was distraught, upset, immature, and pretty much lost my love for writing. I didn't know how to carry on. So... I quit. 2008 was also the year that I started actively getting into voice acting, so I pretty much set all my creative efforts on that for a couple years.
Fast forward to the end of 2010, right around when my adaptation of Cruelty was finished. This was the moment that everything came back. I started talking to
kyell about collaborating, and with him just being the amazing and influential writer that he is, I was immediately inspired to start writing again. Talking to him is what really brought me back to the door, so to speak. But the turning point was when I first listened to
Alex Vance's 'The Not Writer'. That was what PUSHED me through the door. I was moved. I felt empowered. I felt more powerful and creative than I'd ever felt prior to that, and in THAT moment, I knew I had to get back into this craft. I couldn't continue sitting and letting myself stagnant. I had to write again.
So, I did.
So, here we are, today. So, you see, I'm not new to this. :) Granted, I don't have as much experience and I'm not nearly as good as my favourite furry writers and the ones who inspire me the most, like
kmhirosaki,
Alex Vance,
kyell, or
whyteyote. I certainly hope to be as good as those guys, eventually! I'm constantly writing, and people keep telling me that I'm progressing really fast; I've gotten all sorts of compliments and great feedback on my writing, and I'm extremely grateful for everyone who takes the time to even read my stories.
I guess what I'm saying here is, please don't assume that this is my first foray into the craft, just because this might be the first time you've ever seen me writing. I understand that it might be a bit jarring to see me doing so much voice acting one minute, and then see me doing a bunch of writing the next. As I said before, I imagine that I might have established myself to a lot of people as a voice actor, especially with Cruelty, but that's really not all I do, and that's not all I want to do. I am a writer, too. :) That's what I did before voice acting. Now, I'm doing both. And that's not to say that voice acting is going to take a major backseat to writing... just a small one. I've still got plenty of voice overs to put out, some of which are more adaptations, but writing is and will remain my first love and priority. :)
I just wanted to get that out there. :)

The furry fandom works like this...
General | Posted 14 years agoEDIT:Sorry, I should have specified before. When it comes to GAY erotica and GAY porn, in the fandom...
Most artists are female.
Most writers are male.
Apparently. :P
Just my own observation after many years I've spent in this lovely fandom. :)

Here's a question for the READERS :)
General | Posted 14 years agoFirst of all, I was wondering... do any of you guys like PDF format at all? I'm considering uploading all my stories in PDF format, from now on. RTF (which I've been using so far) is great, but I think PDF looks a lot better and more presentable. I write all my stories in OpenOffice, anyway.
kmhirosaki, for example, uses PDF, and it looks fucking GREAT!
So, guys, should I use PDF or stick with RTF? You wouldn't be upset if I suddenly switched to PDF format, would you? I'd really like to know. :) I ALWAYS post the text of my stories, too, so even if you don't download the story, you can always read it here, on FA. :D
Next... I haven't actually written any... blowjobs, have I? Well, I have. But I haven't posted any. Since I got back into writing in December of last year (which makes five months, now), I've written... thirteen stories, in total. That's more than two stories a month. Damn. But yes, thirteen stories in total... and only TWO of them have any sort of blowjob in them.
I'm a bad fox. D:
I mean, wolf.
But yeah, that'll change. So all you cock-sucking lovers will get a real treat with my next story.
Laslty... all you guys who liked Ian and Jamie from Leap of Faith or Kees and Silrin from The Heart's Content... well... let's just say you're in for a really, really sweet surprise, with my next story. ;)

Carnal Shock Featured on the Bad Dog Book Club!
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, here's some fantastic news! My story, Carnal Shock is currently being featured on the fucking Bad Dog Book Club podcast! I'm soooo happy!
Also, for those of you who know about the Bad Dog Book Club, you know that a guest reader usually narrates the story, then
skiprudder and
toonces get together and discuss the story. That's awesome, I love that. However... this week, Carnal Shock takes a different turn, and I'm very happy to say that this is the first for the podcast. Instead of just one person narrating the entire story, this time around, instead we have one person narrating while two people come in and provide additional voices for the characters. So one person narrates the story, but the dialogue is regulated to other voice actors.
Well, well, well. Isn't that something.
That's actually what
unsheathed does with some of their Unsheathed Presents Episodes.
For Carnal Shock,
Alex Vance narrated the story (in his lovely, sultry voice) while
toonces did the voice of that clever fox, Sam. And who did the voice of Jerry, the sex crazed Dalmatian?
Me. :D
So! For those of you who've read Carnal Shock (and hopefully enjoyed it!), you can now hear the audiobook verson, narrated by
Alex Vance, with myself and Toonces playing Jerry and Sam! :D Hope you all like it!

Writing Question Part 8
General | Posted 14 years agoAre there any species you'd REALLY like to write about, but don't feel you can do any real justice in your writing?
I've Finally Figured It Out
General | Posted 14 years agoAll of my top favourite furry writers,
kyell,
Alex Vance,
whyteyote, and
kmhirosaki are all in their 30's (or older). All of them are also gay. Also, with the exception of one, which I won't say who, they're all in long-term relationships with their boyfriends/partners.
Conversely, I'm 22. And I'm bisexual. Aaaaand I'm single.
Shit.
I now know what I have to do to become as good of a writer as them. I have to... be completely gay, then travel seven years into the future, bring my future self to this current time (like some kind of Doctor Who thing), then get myself a boyfriend. Not necessarily in that order.
Yeeeeeaaaaaah. That's the formula, baby!
...
Regrettably, anyone who takes this journal seriously should be bitten by a coyote. I mean... by a wolf.

Writing Question Part 7
General | Posted 14 years agoDo you think it's a bad idea to use reoccurring themes and/or species in your stories?
The Canadian Election
General | Posted 14 years agoRight, I should have yelled about this a long time ago, but... fucking get your asses out there and VOTE. I'm serious; today is the Canadian Election, and it's still going on for the rest of the damn day. If you actually give a damn about Canada and the government running it, get your fucking ass out there and VOTE. I'm extremely pissed off that there's such a apathy and lazyness among the younger voters in Canada. Goddamn it. I'm not gonna bother saying stuff like, 'people fought and died for your right to vote, so you better exercise it', no. no. I'm gonna say that I'm fucking sick of seeing some corrupt bastard like Stephen Harper, who honestly has no idea what the fuck he's doing, still being in office. I mean he previously prorogued (suspended) Parliament to AVOID a vote of no-confidence.
Repeat, he suspended parliament, just because he was afraid of being booted out as Prime Minister.
So. Our lovely leader if a fucking coward, who feels that basically "cheating" is the best way to do things. Not to mention his government was found in contempt of Parliament, and this is a FIRST, not only in Canadian history, but also a first in the entire British Commonwealth. That's pretty huge. Add to that, he's a bigoted fuck who tried to take gay marriage away AFTER Paul Martin's government legalized it. Seriously, how can you like this guy?
The polls seem to show that the Conservatives still maintain a slight lead over the other parties, but the NDP has had a surprising surge! They've actually overtaken the Liberals... partially because Michael Ignatieff isn't actually that good of a leader. Let's face it, the Liberal Party hasn't had a STRONG, POWERFUL leader since Jean Chretien, and that was eight years ago. Stephane Dion wasn't bad, but Michael? Ugh. Still, he's better than Stephen Harper. But right now, only Jack Layton and the New Democratic Party have a real chance of overtaking Stephen Harper's Conservatives. I mean, seriously, this is ALREADY a historic moment; the NDP has NEVER been the ruling party, nor the Official Opposition. If they actually WIN this election, this would make history. And I'm seriously done after five years of Conservative rule. Let's get Stephen Harper's ass OUT of there.
So, really, get your lazy asses out there and fucking vote. Otherwise, you have ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to complain afterwards when things don't go your way, if you don't even fucking care enough to make use of the voice you have. Goddamn it. I know some people like to abstain, because they don't like any of the parties involved at all, but the least you could do is vote for the lesser of all evils. Seriously.

The Not Writer
General | Posted 14 years agoAlright, it's time for some serious talk.
How many people love writing?
How many people WANT to write or WISH you could write? What's your reason for not writing? Don't have the time? Too busy? Lack the inspiration? Do you have writer's block? Do you have a fantastic idea that you're afraid you're not a good enough writer to get out?
I know your pain.
So does
Alex Vance. I'd like to present 'The Not Writer', a series of articles (also adapted into a podcast) by my mentor, Alex Vance. Aside from talking to
kyell, listening to 'The Not Writer' is the ultimate push that got ME back into writing. It is literally the most powerful writing tool I've ever had. Ever. The Not Writer is a hilarious, powerful, motivating and in-depth look by The Man, himself about talented or otherwise aspiring, enthusiastic people who want to write... but come up with every excuse NOT to. People who let tons and tons of people prohibit them from writing, whether it be writer's block, not having time to write, a lack of a hut, the fear of not being able to give your idea as much polish as you think it deserves, Alex covers EVERYTHING,
Well, not everything. But Alex covers a GREAT deal of reasons why people let themselves fall victim to such reasons, and thus become 'Not Writers'. As I said before, it is the most powerful, moving, and motivating thing that I, as a writer, have ever listened to. It's also fucking hilarious.
So.
Do you love writing? Do you want or wish you COULD write? Then listen to this podcast or read the articles. I almost guarantee you'll walk away feeling much, much better for it. People, you OWE it to yourselves to listen to something this informative, this insightful, and this in depth about writing, if you are or if you WANT to be a writer. You owe it to yourself. Alex covers so many things and so many reasons in this, and the most AMAZING thing about it? He's fucking right. In every thing he covers... he's just... right. At least, I personally think he is. And even if it doesn't work and doesn't inspire you, you can still get a good laugh at how fucking hilarious it all is. I'd recommend listening to the podcast rather than reading the article, but both are pretty powerful. In fact, if ANY of you enjoy listening to
kyell's and
kmhirosaki's advice on
unsheathed, then you SHOULD listen to the 'The Not Writer' as well. It will change your fucking life.
And now, to quote what I feel are a couple of the most important parts in this entire thing...
"The surest way to realize whether you're being a Not Writer is hearing yourself say 'I don't have time to write.' If you have time to say that, you have time to write.
Doesn't have to be a masterpiece, doesn't have to be part of the Epic Ten-Novel Saga you're 'working on'. A quick domestic scene, a little joke, a tragic monologue... there's always something in your mind that you can write and there's always a moment to do it in."
"The difference between a Not Writer and a Writer is the difference between someone who *could* write and someone who *does*. A Not Writer is someone who experiences blocks and obstacles and timing issues and lets them prevent him or her from actually writing. A Not Writer may certainly be creative, insightful and capable of writing lyrical prose, but most of the time they're too busy Not Writing to get any Writing done. That's such a shame, such a waste, and that's the reason I so often deploy Tough Love upon those who ask for advice."
Fucking. Beautiful.

SHUT UP AND WRITE!

Ursa Majors: Voting!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey, guys! The Ursa Major Awards is finally open for voting! Well, it's actually been open for a few days, but go out there and vote! You'll have to use the key reg that you used to nominate people, and if you don't remember, it's really easy to retrieve it. Just put it in your email address. From then on, just vote by filling in your 1, 2, 3 choices for what you liked best. :)
Remember that big audio adaptation I did back in November that people went crazy about? Namely, Cruelty? Well, if you enjoyed that adaptation or if you enjoyed the comic, you might be happy to know that's been nominated for best Graphic story, along with a few other lovely titles.
rukis is actually planning to do a little mini snippet comic to celebrate if, by some chance, Cruelty does actually win that award. :)
Ironically, three of the graphic novels being nominated actually have audio adaptations. :O I was dragged into another one. :P And another one was done by a friend of mine.
But still, even if you didn't like Cruelty, vote for something you DID like! Kyell Gold's Bridges, Shadow of the Father, and False Dawn are all up for nominations, as well as
rikoshi's The Seventh Chakra and The Peculiar Quandary of Simon Canopus Artyle.
Lastly, in a big surprise to me,
buckhopper's FBA (Furry Basketball Association) Podcast is actually be nominated, too! And I think he freaking deserves that win. It's the only thing being nominated for best anthropomorphic game that was created BY furries, FOR furries. It's literally one of the biggest, most intense, creative things I've seen in our lovely fandom, and you know what? Buck Hopper is the one of the few people at the forefront of voice acting in the furry community. It's a wonderful art and I don't know ANYONE else in the furry fandom putting voice acting out there as much as Buck Hopper is. The FBA is also something
kyell,
kmhirosaki,
rikoshi,

This is beyond things like comments, faves, or watches, guys. Voting in these furry awards is pretty meaningful to the people who work so hard creatively with all their stories, novels, comics, art, and whatever else we love in the community. This is one of the biggest ways you can show them your appreciation for their work! :D
:)Ironically, three of the graphic novels being nominated actually have audio adaptations.

Writing Question Part 3
General | Posted 15 years agoIs it better to edit while writing or is it better get all your editing done after your draft/manuscript is finished?
I'm in Lord of the Rings!
General | Posted 15 years agoDid you ever hear about that video game, Lord of the Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth?
Well, there's several mods going around for that game, and one specific mod called "The Dwarf Holds" is a new one. One of the guys in charge of the mod was prowling around my old voice acting camp, looking for voice actors and he came across my demo reel from last year, and ended up listening to it a few times. I know, because I kept getting notices about it. :P
So they contacted me and asked me if I'd be interested in doing some voices for them and... this is fucking Lord of the Rings, so there's no way I was going to refuse. At first he wanted me to voice this Dwarf King (whose name escapes me at the moment), but I didn't have time to get around to it, so we settled on having me do some voices for the Knights of Dol Amroth, which are men descended from elves.
And I love elves. :3
Now if only I can get into The Hobbit movies, this would come full circle...
