A New Furry Audio Series?
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, everyone, I recently came up with a new idea. I've spent all day pondering over it, and the more I think about it, the more I like it!
Lots of people in the community know who I am, now, thanks to the success of my Cruelty adaptation, as well as my other smaller voice overs. And I'm very thankful for that, of course. I'll be doing plenty of other voice overs, too, and I AM still writing, but I really like this new idea. How would you guys feel about me doing a furry audio series/show? I'll elaborate. Audio dramas tend to run like movies. My Cruelty adaptation was essentially a short film. But this new audio series? It'll run like a TV show. :) It'd be a continuous thing with episodes released regularly, just like a cartoon or live action TV series. I have a couple ideas about what the series will be about, too. :) But again, this series will run just like a TV show or cartoon, but it'll have anthros, and feature voice actors from all over the furry community. :3
Essentially, since it's only audio, and it's internet, you could call it a podcast. But it'd be a podcast with a continuous narrative and story. And yes, there'd be sex. Rarely.
So what do you guys think? Is this something any of you would be interested in? I would LOVE to hear input from you guys about this, because I think it's a great idea and could really take off into something great. Besides... You might end up hearing a couple characters voiced by some of your favourite furry artists or writers. :P But again I REALLY want to hear what you guys think. :)

General | Posted 15 years agoUrsa Major Nominations!
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's that time again, people! Time to nominate and vote for your favourite authors, artists, works, publications, etc, all that wonderful furry stuff we all love so much!
Hopefully, most of you already know what the Ursa Major Awards are by now. :)
The Nominations Page is up now, so go and nominate your favourite artists, authors, etc!
You can also nominate MORE than one thing for each category, and I certainly did!
I don't think I have anything eligible this year, but I hope to have a lot of stories, and some novels out for the next year. I've already nominated a few things, myself...
Short Fiction: Bridges, by Kyell Gold, FurPlanet Books, February
Graphic Story: Heathen City Vol. 3 "Joker to the Thief" by Alex Vance, Bad Dog Books, September
And heeeeeere's a big surprise!
Graphic Story: Cruelty by Rukis, Furplanet Books, June
That's right, Cruelty's up there! That was the biggest surprise of all. And I'm not talking about my audio drama, I'm talking about the original comic that Rukis did. You all remember that, right?
So go and nominate, people!

I'm in a fucking MOVIE!
General | Posted 15 years agoThat's right, I'm in a movie with Drew Barrymore, a feature film, whatever you call those things. It's a live-action film, surprise. It's called Everybody Loves Whales. I auditioned (for some fucking reason), and got the call back. So now, I'm in the film, playing a reporter. There are actually a lot of reporters in the film, specifically in my scene, I think. Drew was actually there the day of filming, but my group of actors didn't meet her.
So, let's talk a bit about the filming process, shall we?
I got the call back to arrive on set the next day. I arrived on set at 6:30 AM, and then proceeded to sit around with my group, for at least 12 hours, just waiting to be called on set to film our scene. Holy fuck. We had good food, though. Breakfast and lunch were awesome. I love how the crew feeds their actors. I believe the group that went before us actually did meet Drew. When my group came on set, she went somewhere else, I think.
I think the producer is a dick.
Anyway, we filmed our scene in the restaurant, responding to a TV report. It wasn't a very long scene.
Also, you won't see me in the film, so don't bother looking. I'm not film worthy. I AM in the film, though. There were so many reporters in that scene, and the camera never actually once panned on me. Thank fucking god.
I will never do a live action film again. Unless, I don't know, maybe my hair looks nice or something.
But yeah, I went back home after almost 13 hours. It's good to be back home.

The Greatest thing a customer has ever said to me at work...
General | Posted 15 years agoYesterday. My first day back at work. I've been switched from morning shift to midshift. I'm not happy.
A customer comes in, buying a shot glass. We get to talking about drinks. I mention I like Baileys. We talk more. I mention I don't like Guiness.
She then says, "Aww, we'll never be lovers."
Haaaaaaah!
That was the best thing, ever. That made my day.

FC Report!
General | Posted 15 years agoAlright! I'm back from FC, and it was one of the best experiences of my life! I had so much fun! It was my first furcon! :3 I met sooo many people that I wanted to meet, hung out with a lot of wonderful people. It was just a blast.
I actually arrived on Tuesday, which I'll never arrive two days before the con starts, again. I wanted to be there extra early, and extra prepared. I'll never do that again. Only one day early, from now on.
Thursday, I actually met up with
rukis,
sidian, and
keet, and spent the evening with them, and we had dinner together, at Johnny Rockets. Fucking AWESOME restaurant! Rukis is sooooo awesome and wonderful to talk to and hang out with. Rukis gave me a print of the
gift art she did for me, for Cruelty! I couldn't beliiiiiieeeeeve that! That was I also went to opening ceremonies, which wasn't too big of a deal. On Friday, the Dealer's Den opened, and holy shiiiiiit! I went in there, talked to ALL of my favourite artists who were there, including pestering rukis, and I FINALLY bought my shirt from sidian, but I wasn't able to afford all the shirts that I wanted to get. I'm sorrry. >.< Believe me, I really wanted the other two shirts, too. I also met up with
tojo-the-thief, and her boyfriend,
sabur fiiiiinally, and hung out with them for a while. They're both awesome. :D Tojo is silly. Remember that. :P evolus and a friend of his actually met up with us in the Creator's Lounge, too, which was cool. I did some hanging out with him later on during the con.
I talked to
ssirrus a few times, and she's lovely. :) I bought a print from her of her AAAWESOME Glowing picture. I looooove that picture. She draws anthros kissing better than any other artist. :D I also talked to FurPlanet and Sofawolf. I bought FIVE of
kyell's books, and he signed aaaaallll of them. I talked to him quite a few times during the con. He's freaking amazing. I must remind people that he's part of the reason I'm writing again. Seriously. And he's awesome in person. I also bought Dog's Days of Summer. I hung out with
whyteyote for HALF the fucking con. He's one of my favourite people, EVER. I love that guy. He keeps the passion in me to write. I met kadath, too, and he's so cool! I met up with
keovi and briefly hung out with her, aaand I met
blotch! Eeeeee! <3 They're so freaking cool! I briefly hung out with
kenket, as well, and I actually talked to her a lot more than I talked to
blackteagan. They're both wonderful, but Kenket is suuuch a sweetheart. :) And of course, they complimented me, again, and again, on my voice over for their "River's Tryst" picture, which kind of made me glee.
By the way, look at me. Now look at Blotch. Now look at Nordguard. Think about that. :D
I talked to about half the artists who worked on Heathen City, met up with shinigamigirl, darknatasha, hbruton, and talked to all of them for a bit. I also get to hang out with shiuk, and he's freaking cool. I talked to and hung out with graveyardgreg for quite a while, too. He's my editor. Read his books! And read mine, too! I still want MORE people to read the new version of my story, and it's actually quite shorter, much tighter, more condensed, and overall... better! Read it and please give some feedback! Comments are appreciated! You can find the story Here! I'll tell you about Greg later. We had dinner together. I also met up with
meesh a couple times, and he's aaaaaawesome! He bought us some Blue Moon, and I love Blue Moon. Then we sat down, had a drink, and just talked for a while. That was very, very pleasant, and I really enjoyed my time with him. I finally met
straydog, and he's fucking adorable! He gave me my badge in person. I spent a lot of time hanging out with aquilus and kandrel. They're both wonderful. And got me drunk. A lot.
I also hung out with narse and the rest of the Bad Dragon guys. They're aaaawesome.
Saturday was definitely one of the best days of the con. I met up with a lot of people again, hung out with friends. I went to
buckhopper's voice acting workshop, which is something I'd really been looking forward to. He brokedown a lot of basics about voice acting, editing, directing, and technical stuff. I think it was pretty much what I expected and more, because Buck seriously knows his stuff. He's a better voice actor than ME. And he's a better editor. It's funny, because he showed everyone some editing, and a lot of people had no fucking idea what he was doing. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there with a stupid grin on my face, because I've done ALL OF THAT myself. :D He's just better at it than I am, and more experienced, but I can still do a damn good job of it myself. It was a great panel, though! He also gave out free mics! I grabbed one and gave it to Rukis. Imagine whyyyyyy.
Apparently one night, rukis, tojo-the-thief, sabur, and kadath got together one night and listened to my adaptation of Cruelty. Holy hell. I didn't hear the end of it the next day. XD I heard Tojo was going to moan at me. And Rukis buried her head in the pillow. XD It's yoooouuuur fault for writing that stuff, you know!
That night was the Storytelling panel with me, rukis, meesh, and kyell (Kyell Gold), and it went really, really well. We had a FULL audience. Seriously, the room was FULL! I think we were all surprised by that. By the way, these three like to joke around. Holy hell, laughs were all over the place. It was a fun panel, though, and I'm very glad I managed to organize it. It was definitely an honour to do a panel with three people who I really like and admire. After the panel was over, Kyell did the Unsheathed live podcast, and after that, I got to meet his mate, Kit, who is just a loooovely, looovely person. I also hung out with both tieran, and fuzzwolf from FurPlanet. I kept Fuzzwolf up late. :P I kept thanking him for all the generous help he gave me when I released Cruelty.
I also met up with jibba, and he was wonderful to hang out with. His boyfriend is also sweet. It's nice to finally meet him in person. :D And I also met fluke! He was so freaking wonderful. He was definitely one of the highlights of the convention. Him and I were all over each other and drunk as fuck. XD
I also attended some of Kyell Gold's other panels. A couple of them had Rikoshi, and Not Tube in them, and they're cool, too.
I also got EVERYONE who was at FC, that contributed to X, to sign my copy, and they were all happy to! :D
I can't very well list every single person I met or hung out with, but you all know who you are! Thank you all so much for making my first fur convention an amazing experience that I've never forget! I look forward to FC next year! For now, though, it's MFF!

I can't fucking decide...
General | Posted 15 years agoOoookay! I can't fucking decide what colour I want my hair to be for Further Confusion. This is my first furcon, and I want to look my best, so... I love having my hair coloured.
I was thinking... blonde, red, or blue. But I don't know which one!
I'd love to have blonde highlights. I CAN'T have a full head of blonde hair. That would look fucking weird on me. Blonde highlights/streaks is as far as I can go with that colour. So, no complete blonde hair, I can only do highlights/streaks if I go with that colour.
I'd also love blue hair. I can do blue highlights/streaks OR a full head of blue hair. That works fine.
And then there's red. I can do red highlights/streaks OR a full head of red hair, too. That also works.
I'm indecisive!

Storytelling Panel at FC!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey, all! Just wanted to let you all know that I'm doing a Storytelling Panel at Further Confusion with
meesh,
kyell (Kyell Gold), and
rukis! I organized the whole thing, and I'm very honoured and thrilled to be doing a panel with these three.
We'll be talking about storytelling from different mediums such as comics, writing, art, and audio dramas/voice overs. It's going to be a pretty broad discussion, but some things we will cover are character creation, consistency, setting, motivation, plot, etc, etc. It's going to be us offering our own unique perspectives (and maybe experiences) in the craft of storytelling.
The panel will be on Saturday, January 15th, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. I'm looking forward to it. :) Hope people can show up!

Finally Returned to Writing
General | Posted 15 years agoI'm very happy to say that I've returned to writing. Fully. Thanks to
kyell and
osfer (Alex Vance), two of my heroes, I was able to finally come back to writing, after two years of not writing at all. :D
Most people don't know that when I first came into the fandom, I was a very passionate writer. I loved writing more than anything. I didn't even think about voice acting, then. So I wrote a lot, gained a lovely following on Yiffstar (now SoFurry). I carried on writing from 2006 to 2008 (Got into voice acting in 2007). I STOPPED writing short stories completely, in 2008, because I became very, very distraught after a failed animation adaptation of my story series, at the time. I had such high hopes for that adaptation and that story series, and after it failed I kind of... lost all faith in "writing", if that makes sense. Especially since that was the very same year I began pursuing voice acting consistently. I still had to come up with "storylines" for different projects, such as these voice overs I do for pictures, but it's obviously not the same as sitting down and writing an actual story up.
I'm really happy to say, though, that thanks to Kyell and Alex, I made my return to my first passion, a couple months ago. And it feels fucking amazing. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything, here. These two are probably my biggest influences when it comes to writing anthropomorphic fiction. It's so wonderful to come up with new ideas, create new, unique, and interesting stories about characters in situations, FLESHING OUT all those ideas to brilliant, coherent narratives, expressing and exercising your creative juices with every single stroke your fingers make to your by-now overly-worn keyboard! Fuuuuuuck, it's amazing!
I've been working on my first story in two years, and I've showed the progress to a few friends who honestly loved it, which is just wonderful. :)
So. I'm going to try and release a new story every month. :) I hope you all enjoy what comes!
And yes, I'll still be voice acting.

Post-Cruelty
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's been a couple weeks, now, since my audio adaptation of
rukis' Cruelty comic was released. And I have to say, I was extremely happy and even surprisingly overwhelmed with the sheer amount of people who enjoyed it and the overall positive reception that my adaptation has gotten. I mean, really. Thank you all SO MUCH for all the compliments, all the comments, the few notes I've received from some people, and just... everyone who liked it. :) I kept hearing about the loads of people who actually listened to Cruelty, while reading along with the actual comic, and to me, that's just awesome. I feel that it kind of comes... full circle if you listen to it while reading it. The complete experience, so to speak. Rukis was so happy with it it and loved it so much, that she drew this for me - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4918335/
So I'm very happy about all that. And of course, a lot of the people that I admire and look up to, had their eyes on this, so I'm happy about that as well.
Timothy Albee proved a few years ago that this sort of thing could really be done. That one person could direct, adapt, produce, edit, and voice act all on his own, and still do a damn good job with the product and the final result. The only difference (besides animation) is I obviously couldn't voice all the characters myself, but my point is the same, though. If you really, REALLY want to do something, something that you honestly feel you have the capability and power to do, but are hesitant or afraid to commit... then just do it. Don't let anything stop you or hold you back. Things like this CAN be done, it's been proven many times, by several people other than myself. I want to see more people doing stuff like that, actually committing to something and finishing it. Believe me, the end result of just having finished something that you are passionate about is wonderful, wonderful feeling. It's an accomplishment that you should be able to appreciate yourself, and respect yourself for. So do it.
Aside from Rukis actually letting me make this adaptation, I think the thing I have to be most thankful for is the fact that all the musicians, along with
savrin,
osfer,
buckhopper, Simbaga, and Subaru-Camui all agreed to participate in this project. And they all deserve to be recognized, I think, because they were all splendid, no matter how big or small their roles were.
Simbaga and Subaru aren't even furries, but they're from my voice acting camp that I came from, so it's a miracle that they even contributed to this. Savrin is one of the hosts of
knotcast, so he's no stranger to the realm of voice over, and it was just wonderful that he could take so much time out of his own life to record the LOADS of lines for Marcus. Plus... he has the perfect voice for Marcus. Seriously, he does. Alex Vance (Osfer) is also a brilliant voice actor, and you can listen to a lot of his stuff on Buck Hopper's FBA podcast. And Buck Hopper is also another brilliant voice actor, but an equally amazing director, who runs the FBA podcast. Personally, I think Buck Hopper is a very special case in the furry fandom, because I haven't seen ANYONE continually push voice acting to the level of authenticity, respect, and recognition in our fandom the way he does. In his podcast recordings, he is always offering new and different people the opportunity to try their hand at voice acting. He's always doing that, and he is so incredibly nice and generous with this. He works so hard at what he does and has created an incredible thing with the Furry Basketball Association. Seriously... how can you not respect that?
Plus,
fann also deserves a special thanks for creating some sound effects for me. At the end of the day, I decided it was best not to use them, but he still made the effort to help me out. I thank him for that.
EDIT: I also have to thank
fuzzwolf once again for offering to even host my adaptation on FurPlanet's website, for promoting it here on FA with me, FurPlanet, Rukis, and Alex Vance, and for constantly fixing it on his website. That was just so sweet. :)
So, this entire experience was just a great. Frustrating at times, especially as an editor, but it was still great, nonetheless. But yes, I'd love to see other people doing stuff like this. It's a whole lot of fun.
Anyway, Rukis has given me the okay to go ahead and narrate her "Aftermath" series of Stories. These are stories that take place after Cruelty and and continue the story of Reis and Marcus, all from Reis' perspective. So I get to narrate those stories, in character, as Reis. Fun. X3 Doing those will be considerably easier than it was to adapt the entire comic.
However, the next huuuuuuuge project I'm going to tackle is... well, I'll let you know soon enough. :)

Cruelty is finished!
General | Posted 15 years agoI am very happy (and relieved) to announce that my audio adaptation of
rukis' Cruelty comic is finally finished. Everything is done. :) I've spent half the year working on this and it's been a bit of a struggle, but it's finally finished.
Now it's just the matter of uploading it onto Fur Affinity. We'll see how that works. But I'll post it either today or tomorrow, hopefully, depending on how this works out.

The Best Thing About America. :3
General | Posted 15 years agoSeattle. Best city in America, by far, I think.
Officially, Los Angeles is the sister-city of Vancouver, British Columbia, but that's crap, I think it should be Seattle. Although Seattle, in some ways, kind of reminds me of Toronto.
Why is Seattle so goooood? I don't know, talk to this person:
sabur :P
No, really, though. Seattle's a wonderful city. It's big, it's bright, it's shiny, it's rainy (I LOVE the rain), great food, great people, great culture, great transportation (I love any place with trains and rail travel), bloody good gay rights, great MUSIC (home of Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Jimi Hendrix), it's got wonderful entertainment. And believe it or not, a lot of voice acting goes on in Seattle. Nintendo and Microsoft are both there. :P So yeah, if there's any one place in America that I really, really love, it's Seattle, hands down.
I believe Pacific Northwest area is also the LEAST religious part of the entire US.
Also, Rainfurrest is there. Rainfurrest is one of the largest furcons in the world. Sixth largest, actually.
I love Seattle. :3

Cruelty's Halfway Finished!
General | Posted 15 years agoYes, that's right, Cruelty is halfway done in it's editing/mixing phase! Guess what part I'm working on. XD I'm very happy with how this is turning out. :) It should be done in a couple weeks!
Also, I'd just like to say there aren't enough female voice actors in the furry community. Seriously.

All Lines Are DONE! - Cruelty's Release!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey, everyone! I'm very happy to say that EVERYONE'S lines for Cruelty are finished. I finished my lines for Reis a couple months ago,
osfer (Alex Vance) recently finished his lines for Tobias and Keith (and other minor characters), and
savrin finished his lines for Marcus. And, of course, the female characters were finished a long time ago.
This is it! Everyone's lines are DONE, and now I just have to mix them all together, along with the music and sound effects, and then this Cruelty audio drama will be complete! It's going to take me a while to mix all this stuff together, but it'll be released very SOON! Thanks for holding out so long, everyone. :3

Sean Pertwee - The New Doctor Who
General | Posted 15 years agoYes, Sean Pertwee.
I know Matt Smith is the new Eleventh Doctor, but I don't care. I've seen a bit of him, and I don't really... like him as much as David Tennant. But still, out of all the actors who could have played the New Doctor, I don't think anyone should do it more than Sean Pertwee.
Why?
Because he's the son of Jon Pertwee, the legendary actor who played the THIRD Doctor. Yup, the Pertwee family is a family FULL of actors and entertainers. Sean Pertwee, in particular, is one of the greatest actors I've ever seen, and definitely one of the most underrated. Have you ever seen Dog Soldiers? I mean fucking hell!
You may have seen Sean in films before. Here's just a few of the popular films he's been in:
Dog Soldiers
Equlibrium
Doomsday
Event Horizon
Formula 51
He's also a damn good voice actor. He was in Killzone 2.
Anyway, I'm just saying, Sean Pertwee, more than ANY other actor on the planet, should be Doctor Who. He certainly has the acting ability and charisma to play the character. And really, out of all the actors in the running to play the Doctor, Sean Pertwee seems to be at the forefront. LOADS of Doctor Who fans want to see him as the Doctor, especially me. There's even an online petition going on to get Sean Pertwee cast as the new Doctor.
Really, if anyone should play the Twelfth Doctor, Sean Pertwee should. No one else. Period. I want to see Sean Pertwee playing the Doctor. I mean, really, he LOOKS just like his father, Jon Pertwee, who again, was the Third Doctor.
Here he is campaigning to be the next Doctor:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag.....icle523563.ece
Here's some awesome videos of Sean:
https://youtu.be/2p2bmyspD4s
Here he is supporting the Labour Party in the United Kingdom before David Cameron won the election. If you're wondering who that Scottish guy is at the end... that's David Tennant. Yeah, the Tenth Doctor.
And here's another one:
https://youtu.be/QuVjndW5MnM
So yes, Sean Pertwee for the new Doctor!
Also, I now have 1000 watchers! ;D

I don't fucking understand people
General | Posted 15 years agoI really don't. Some random person decides to watch me, then leaves dumb shouts on my page, making a few inaccurate comments. I correct them on their inaccuracy. Fine. Then they ask me if they can add me to their MSN, and I politely decline... and THEN they EXPLODE with an outburst and a fucking temper tantrum, telling me how I'm such an asshole, that I'm a sociopathic jerk, an uncaring piece of crap, and... apparently, I'm not even a fur. And to top it off, they unwatch me.
All because I declined when they asked me if they could add me to their MSN. So because I declined the chance to chat with this guy, I'm suddenly an asshole, a sociopathic jerk, an uncaring piece of crap, and I "ain't no fur".
Sometimes, I fucking hate furries. Goddamn it.

And then - http://www.thestar.com/entertainmen.....article/616601
Right, so recently, I've been watching stuff from a little wonderful Canadian show from CBC called Q TV, which is a Canadian show about arts, music, culture, and entertainment, and it's hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. A lot of times, we'll get celebrities on the show that he'll interview and talk to, and it's always a wonderful interview. Personally, I want to say that Jian is by far, the best interviewer I've ever seen. He's polite, he's nice, he's engaging, and he doesn't JUST ask questions, but engages the other person (or people) and it becomes a lovely conversation. That's the kind of interviewer I fucking love.
Jian Ghomeshi has interviewed a WIDE array of different people on his show, including Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee from Rush, Malcolm McDowell, Simon Pegg, Rick Mercer, Michael Moore, Ricky, Bubbles, and Julian from Trailer Park Boys, Alanis Morrisette, Morgan Freeman, Slash from Guns N Roses, Adam Lambert, Hugh Dillon, William Shatner, and a LOAD of other celebrities from different mediums, a majority of them being Canadian.
He also interviewed Billy Bob Thornton and his band, the Boxmasters. It was a fucking disaster, and the worst interview I've ever seen in my life, because Billy Bob Thornton decided he was going to be a fucking prick. On television. Here we have Billy Bob being a stereostypical dumbass American, appearing on this popularly syndicated Canadian show (which broadcast nationwide around Canada AND America) for the first time, and making a complete ass out of himself and embarrassing his own band. It was a goddamn tragedy. I mean, really, how can you be THAT much of an asshole on TV? In another country? Jian is being SUCH a sweetheart and a nice guy, trying to be reasonable, and having to put up with Billy Bob's stupid bullshit. I mean, just LOOK at his other bandmates during this interview! They're fucking ashamed to even be in the same ROOM as him. Fuck, man. And, of course, he goes on to very subtlety criticize Canadian audiences. Nice job there. Criticize and insult the audience that you're touring and PLAYING FOR. Suffice to say, Billy Bob isn't very well liked in Canada right now, and he and his band got fucking BOOED on stage when they tried to perform in Toronto, at the Massey Hall, RIGHT after this interview. Fucking idiot. They subsequently canceled the rest of their Canadian tour due to a "Flu". Yeah. Right.
Check out the actual interview right here and watch this goddamn trainwreck.

You REALLY have to give Jian Ghomeshi credit for not losing control of this interview. And for not reaching over the table and slapping the ever loving SHIT out of Billy Bob for being a fucking idiot.
And to see Billy Bob make even MORE of a fool out of himself concerning this fucking interview, check this out;

Canadians are DICKS!
General | Posted 15 years agoAt least, three Canadians tried to make a show about it! :P Mike Clattenburg, the creator and director of Trailer Park Boys, created this mini pilot for a new TV series. Robb Wells, who plays Ricky on Trailer Park Boys, also helped make this. Jonathan Torrens, who plays J-Roc on Trailer Park Boys, also helped out with this. I don't know who the last guy is. But, hey, DICKS! This is a hilarious. :3

Gift Art And Permission
General | Posted 15 years agoThis issue has come up quite a few times, and it's coming to a point where I'm going to have to say something here and openly.
Do not draw me gift art. Please. Don't. At least not without asking. And even then, I'll probably say no, depending on who you are, and if know and/or trust you.
There is a reason I commission artists to draw Rahne. Every drawing I try to get of Rahne is supposed to be some sort of transaction where an artist is doing something that I'd like them to do, or where I give them the freedom to do something that they know, for sure, that I'll be comfortable with, and I compensate them for it. Rahne is very, very personal to me. I love him, I'm extremely attached to him, and very sensitive when it comes to him. I don't like to see him drawn in certain styles or certain ways, which is why I commission artists, so I can decide what I'd like to see in a picture of Rahne.
Simply put, when it comes to gift art, most artists won't ask you what you'd like for the picture, or what you'd like for your fursona/character. Most artists will try to surprise you. Because it's a "gift". Or maybe they just want to draw your character because it looks good, but either way, most artists still never ask for your input. The outcome of this can sometimes lead to getting some of that character's features wrong, or doing something that ends up offending the owner of the character, or making the owner very uncomfortable.
I don't like surprises. At all. Not when it comes to Rahne, or something I'm so personally attached to, and sensitive about. There are very few exceptions that I'll make, and that's either, if I REALLY love someone's art, or they're my one of favourite artists, or if I know and/or trust them, but even then, those are still major exceptions, because that artist could still do something that makes me extremely uncomfortable. Like I said, very few exceptions, because there are very few artists that I KNOW I can give complete freedom to, and I can trust them not to do anything with Rahne that will make me uncomfortable.
Maybe this comes off as arrogant or whatever, but when it comes to my character that I've personally created, there just are some things that I'm just NOT comfortable seeing him in. Period. If it breaches my comfort level, then I don't want it. Think about this: Artists. Every artist on this website has rules and terms of service that they have every commissioner (or nearly) abide by. Every artist has these. Every artist has a particular comfort level of what they will and will not draw. There are many things that artists will not draw, PERIOD, end of discussion, no disputing this. By the very same same token, there are many people who DON'T want their characters drawn in certain ways or certain situations. Let's take this a step further; There are some things that, I, as a voice actor, will NOT voice act for, at all. Period. I won't do it. I think it's best to respect these kinds of boundaries and limits of artists, people's characters, and so on.
And just as an example that there are other people who feel the same way that I do, let's take
sera, for an example. I'm sure many people know of that light blue dragon character.
sera doesn't take gift art either. She also makes it a point that people must have her permission first.
Overall, what I'm trying to get at is please, ASK my permission first before you consider drawing my character, either as surprise or gift art, or whatever. Unless I'm commissioning you right then. Otherwise, just as with
sera, you MUST have my permission first before drawing me, if I'm not commissioning you at that particular point in time. I feel it is a courtesy.
Let's use another example: EVERYONE who likes Cruelty, listen up: I asked
rukis if I could make an audio adaptation of her comic, Cruelty. That was the very first thing I ever did concerning this audio adaptation I'm working on. I asked her, EVEN THOUGH, she already made a public journal, telling everyone that she's totally okay with people doing whatever the hell they want with her art. She's very open, and very sweet. She didn't HAVE to do that, but she did. However, I still asked her permission to do this, even though she made that journal, because it's a courtesy. It's a matter of principle, politeness, and respect for someone else's character(s), and creativity. Even further, look at these two voice overs I did: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4422816/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4292472/ - I asked BOTH
drayk and
zen if I could do voice overs for those pictures, and the both of them gave me permission to do so. I would not have done those voice overs if either of them told me no.
There are a few people who I'd give total freedom to, who probably don't even need to ask my permission, because I can already trust those artists enough to where I know they won't do anything crazy with Rahne, and they won't do anything with Rahne to make me uncomfortable. Those artists probably know who they are, too. Again, this might come off as arrogant for me to expect people to ask my permission before they draw Rahne (without me commissioning them), especially since, like I said, most gift art is done by surprise, but this is a matter of principle, respect, courtesy, politeness. Like I said earlier, this is no different from artists pointing out that they WILL NOT draw certain things for certain reasons, because sometimes a lot of those things make them uncomfortable to draw. This is the same thing.

Today's My Birthday! And Cruelty Lines ARE FINISHED!
General | Posted 15 years agoToday, September 14th, is my birthday! I'm 22 now. XD Feels kind of weird. >.> What can I do now?
Also, you read the title right, my lines for Reis Northcote in Cruelty ARE FUCKING FINSIHED! No more recording for me! HAHA! I finished the rest of the lines last night 10 minutes before Midnight of September 14th. I'm so freaking happy to be done! Playing Reis and recording all those lines from the comic is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, as a voice actor. Now I just have to wait for
savrin and
osfer (Alex Vance) to finish up their own lines, then I can mix everything together. That'll take a while.
But for now, I'm finished, and it's my birthday. I'M NOT DOING SHIT TODAY! No recording, no nothing, I'm not TOUCHING my microphone! Also, I went to the movies to see Resident Evil 5-I mean, Afterlife in IMAX 3D (HOLY FUCK) the day it came out. It was fucking awesome. By far the best Resident Evil movie so far. And they've confirmed that they're going to make a FIFTH Resident Evil movie! That's fucking aaaaaawesome. I just that out today. What wonderful birthday news. :D Tonight, I'm being taken to my favourite sea food restaurant. Seeeaaaaa food. I love sea food. :3
Also, after some much thinking and consideration, and a wonderful, encouraging push from
satsukii, I'm going to try my hand at drawing furry art again, and STICK with it this time! I'll be doing voice acting, writing furry stories, and drawing furry art. Oh, returning to Rainbow Tiger in Second Life, as a DJ again. I miss DJing. ^^; Bloody hell, what a combination. I'm not doing any of that today, though. I'm not doing shit today. :D
Also, my official birthday song is Closer to the Heart from Rush. From now on. :P

With Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys and Ed Robertson from Bare Naked Ladies. Canadiaaaaaaans!
I'm now going to go back to watching Trailer Park Boys and listening to
knotcast :D
