Happy 2013!
Posted 12 years agoI really really want to start a NEW year better than the last, I want to make it somehow special and more productive, try to improve more and more and faster than in 2012. And that means practise, practise, practise. If my family is lucky, we are moving to new house, and I'll be finally having my own room with an artistic corner, I can finally get back to traditional and spend more time arting around just like back on high school. Wish us luck! >3<

Holiday break.
Posted 13 years agoThe time is running so fast, right? It's almost Christmas and I still think that it was October just a week ago :0
All the busy days make the time flow so fast... and that's the main reason why i'm writting this journal...
I've come to a conclusion that I've been working real hard last month. And thus I need a little break before and after Christmas untill the January at least. I'll have a big stress with exams coming and untill then I just want to relax and get back to work on some of my own stuff, no rush, no hurry, slow down and enjoy the holidays. Tho I'm that type of a person who is worried and nervous about something all the time, I'll really appreciate a little break.
I'm saying this mainly because I know how many commissions I have promised to finish untill the New Year. I won't, and I'm really sorry. They will be delayed and I hope you can understand. This is the first time I'm doing this, I feel terrible, but I want to avoid any health and complications and stay sane during the Christmas holidays.
I know I'm not in a position to dictate when I can have breaks from work, but please bear with me this time ;3; I promise I'll get back to work on commissions in January.

Posted 13 years agoUhh, sry guys, so many ideas but such little time and procrastination ughhnn!
We got first snow here a few days back. It's quite unusual for central Europe. No-one was expecting it. I still can't decide if I should go for Halloween or Christmas mood now.
I envy those who celebrate Halloween - I want to have an excuse for wearing some of my costumes/uniformes.
All Saint's Day march on Nov 3rd with a few fellow napoleonic reenactors. Retreat from Russia style most probably. It's gna be freezing and I'm gna be sick with flu but won't regret anything because I did it for the dead.
Working on bigass painting commission for Middle Guard regiment, it's totally boring for your but for me it's a dream, tho my lazy-ass won't let me work nonstop. Deadline is in one month. I better get my lazy-ass to do some work >8l

Le journal on le end of August

Sorry for my last boring journal, from time to time I have to speak up, because something is bothering me and it makes me feel better to write it down. I thought someone shares my opinion, next time I better use my good ol' LJ :o
Only one week left of August and I can smell the speed of September coming and being gone again very quickly. Since I'm on uni, it's always like this, expecially without any re-enactment events and nothing to look foward to.
You guys have any great plans for September, or you all have school to do? My September is still free, but I got school work that has to be done - one last oral exam and finishing my seminar paper. And learnin latin again, harhar, my syntax is horrible.
Beside this I got some commissions to work on, for my friends and clients. This means I can't offer cheap sketch commissions like I promised, sorry :c I'll see during next month if you'll be still interested! x)
Fun and random things because of reasons:
- on my way to pokémon league in pkmn Black! Got all badges, now training mah super team hohoo~ Actually it surprised me how easy is to train pkmns in the new games :o I love the addition of "stronger pokémon in taller grass" feature. Must draw my team....it¨s classy.. very classy, everyone does it.
- thinking for reviwing my very very old fursona and at least try to draw it after all those years. She had furry form, wolverine form. Maybe I'll redesign it and make it more official chara of mine, not just the forgotten one. Heck I spent so many good years with her!
- i need a haircut, my hair is crawling on my back, touching my butt in a very non-le sexy way.
- Avengers movie, which i finally watched, is great, I guess I know what is the fuss about, but Tony Stark is always best and he knows it.
- I'm fed up with pasta.

Those questions about "the style"
Posted 13 years agoHere I bring you one of my thoughts and questions that float in my otherwise empty head for years... and I want to hear your opinions. Or just ignore this journal if it appears too whine-whine to you (then I'm very sorry, want a cake?)
Surely everyone has their own style of drawing.
Or styles of drawing?
Let me introduce you my opinion on my "style".
I'm working with three media mainly. Pencil+paper+digital, ink/black pen+digital or purely digital. I used to work with more, like watercolor and acryl, but those were my highschool times, times when I actually HAD time and I was silly enough to doodle anything that comes into my head, not caring about the outcome.
The style of the picture is adjusted for the theme of the drawing. There are themes that would look weird or too cliché if I would done them in some other style.
Is that a bad thing?
Is having three or four different styles of drawing a bad thing for an artist?
I guess it is. Because people can never expect the style of next drawing. Or their commission if they don't tell the artist in what style they want it.
Myself I like when people have their own style. One or max. two.
But I just can't force myself to draw in one style, my mood changes, the theme changes, I'm developing so I'm experimenting - and that's why I have so many styles. Cartoony, speedpainty, hatching and semi-realistic, realistic, it all depends on the inspiration.
What defines my style mostly now is the sign of not being a skilled-enough artist. There is always something wrong in my artworks, something that hits your eyes when you see it for the first time. Or something comes up great but suddenly next artwork is like I've done it 3 years ago, full of failures. I want to get rid of this main feature of my style. And that's why I'll continue experimenting and practising.
And when experimenting I need a feedback, because sometimes I don't know what to think.
I thank you who can bear with me and who commissioned me in past and was happy with the result. Thanks for supporting me by your comments, faves, watches and promotions.

Using references is for loooosers!
Posted 13 years agoAren't you tired of people saying this? When they leave a comment with blaming you for not being original? For not being enough creative?
I tell you what, I'm very tired of it.
But I'm also tired of explaing every little jerk out there that using reference is right.
Drawing based on a reference is the most natural thing for an artist. By observing the reality, checking the object you want to draw, it's pose, anatomy, shapes... It doesn't matter if it's a real model or a photo, the basic from this is the same.
Why does people think that using a reference makes you a bad artist?
Were the great masters bad artists because they hired models for their paintings? Don't even make me want to art about Mucha and his photo-referencing and studies.
We all have right to use reference, for anything what we do, personal work or commission. We're still learning.
What's you opinion on this? Or you have any simmilar experiences? Feel free to share and explain your way.

A question about lineart

No I'm not dead, I just have a napoleonic project running which will end as a personal exhibition, so I need to work.
Anyways, I have a question... first some facts.
I'm having real problems with proper lineart. Since I stopped using it some years ago and got into sketchy lineart or no-lineart on my pictures, I forgot how to do it.
I know that perfect lineart is about steady hand. My hand is NOT steady, it's shakey, but I guess I can achieve steady hand by practice.
You probably know the God of Art jennadelle, she is my art-hero since I was 13 years old. As you can see, her art became superior even more than it was before. Look at these http://jennadelle.livejournal.com/9.....53.html#cutid1
That's just for example.
The lines are so pretty and thin. My biggest problem beside the non-steady hand is that my lines are too thick. See my last try: http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l.....effpo1_500.jpg
and earlier here http://rai1.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d47gd67 ... When I'm trying to do the thin lineart, I erase a lot untill I get the right shape of the line and that just ruins the smoothness of whole thing and magicks. Or the line is just too transparent so I can barely see it! (And when I duplicate it, it becomes too thick again..)
I've heard that there is some program that helps begineers to achieve better lineart, it even had "Line" in it's name I think... I work in Photoshop and Open Canvas. Both of these programs can make nice lineart as I saw in other artist's cases.
Do you have any tips for this?

Edit: The cheap sketch commission are over now. Thanks everyone who commissioned me C: I might open the third round in August, but now I have other commission running and I need to focus more on them...and on my studies.

Can be simple, shaded by hatching or tones...or like a lineart (http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/.....ion_finLSM.jpg ).
It can even have a background.
All your choice!

I've been thinking of joining this site since 2008, but never got to it, so now I am here, to offer some more animal art, because I always need to practise more kinds than just lions and horses...
