NSFW art trades/commissions?
Posted 8 years agoMy winter break starts Dec 17.
Once I finish finals I'm gonna have more time to... actually do things that aren't just school related, and I really want to do some nsfw drawings.
I'd also love to get some art for myself of characters over the holiday.
If anyone with art around my level would be interested in doing an art trade with me, let me know! I'd be interested in trading art of each others characters, or even trading pieces that feature both characters (mine and who I'm trading with)
Alternatively I'd be happy to take some nsfw commissions and waive the NSFW fees (charge as a normal commission, unless harder fetishes involved)
also also alternatively, if you have affordable commissions rates, drop your prices!! I might buy a thing or two for myself, possibly :0
Must be able to draw a wide variety of characters, body type, species, poses, etc! :0
I'll keep any offers in mind for later; trades from this journal would be accepted and completed after my existing to-do list is worked through :)

Can Anyone Recommend me Podcasts/Audiobooks?
Posted 8 years agoHey guys!
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some interesting free podcasts or audiobooks?
I really like listening to podcasts while I work since it keeps me more on track; I guess its something about being fixated on listening to something interesting while working keeps me working for longer, because with normal music or with silence I get super easily distracted and start procrastinating/compulsively checking social media.
Currently the only podcast I actively listen to is This American life; I try to pick something off it and listen for a while.
A bit ago I was also listening to Serial, which is really good too, but I lost track of where I was since its been a long while since I last tuned in.
A friend had recommended the podcast "Tanis", but I haven't really gotten into it much.
So what are some of your favorite podcasts or talk shows?
Which ones do you highly recommend, and what are they about?
I listen to just about everything, but I find it harder to get into fictional podcasts or books. I mostly gravitate to things with real life application or stories from real people and things (like in This American Life or Serial).
Or maybe I can get into some spooky podcasts for the halloween mood. c:$10 bust sketch and $15+ PWYW Inktober Comms

Freebies for those affected by the recent natural disasters.
Posted 8 years agoInfo/post on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RainbowFox.....=3&theater
I'm doing some freebies for people affected by the recent natural disasters (hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, floods around the world) to fill in some extra space in my sketchbook in my free time.
I WON'T be able to do them all, but I will try to do as many as I can! Not first come first serve aaa
Liking/following my page/twitter/FA/dA etc is appreciated but not required. Sharing so more people affected can have a chance at a small gift is appreciated, but not required.
Post a reference sheet/image of your character. Can be furry/human/monster/any gender body type age. Additional refs, reply to your comment. If you don't have a drawn image, post photo references of anima/hair/clothing etcl (if a furry, human faces for humans, etc. Can't do mash ups though without art visual ref) and a brief desc (2-3 sentences).
DO NOT LIE ABOUT NATURAL DISASTER AFFECTS TO REQUEST ART. That is absolutely abhorrent, I WILL find out, and you will be blocked and blacklisted. You can request a freebie for a friend who is affected, but tag them/link to their FA/twitter/whatever, and let me know geo location.
AGAIN, if you lie, I have zero tolerance to shameless selfishness like that, and you will be blocked and blacklisted infinitely.
Theres a post on twitter, too: https://twitter.com/Rainbow_Foxy/st.....56711633678336OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS (see journal for details)

ArtFight 2017
Posted 8 years agoHey guys! With ArtFight rolling in, I wanted to toss up that I do have an art fight, my AF is located right here:
http://artfight.net/~RainbowFoxy
I am a bit busy this summer however and I'm not super sure how active I will be on there, but I will be using AF as an outlet to do some art warmups before tackling owed art and bigger projects (don't want to be rusty when I try to work on that stuff!)
For this who don't know what ArtFight is, art fight is an annual competitive game where all participating artists are split into 2 thematic teams. The object of the game is to draw gift art called "attacks" of characters that belong to members on the opposite team; when you do so, you earn points in accordance to the type of art you made. People will usually "attack" you back (called a defense), so its like a big ol' art trade/gift art smorgasborg, but thats not always guaranteed.
"Friendly Fire" (attacking someone on your own team) is allowed, but will not earn you any point. The game starts up in July, so if you want to play, make your account asap so you have ample time to upload your characters at your leisure. uvu
That aside, how is everyone doing? :0

What is art?
Posted 8 years agoHey guys!
I'm writing some papers on critical reasoning and theory of art/artistic intent subjects for class, and part of my assignment is exploring the concept of what art is, including asking around and seeing replies from other people on what art is.
So, in your opinion:
What is art?
How do YOU define what art is?
What makes something art to YOU? What is art?
Does it have anything to do with the creator's intent? Or authority, on how many people see it as art too? Or is what you consider art personal? Does art have to be beautiful, or treated a certain way? Do you need a lot of people to agree that something is art to have it considered art?
Go on as many tangents as you want, I'd love to hear thoughts on this subject; beyond assignment requirements, its simply fascinating on its own!If you made a PayPal before 18, read this
Posted 8 years agoHey!
I know a lot of arists use paypal to accept money transactions, and a lot of young artists make a paypal to start taking commissions before they turn 18.
PayPal is randomly closing accounts and banning users they have found to have made a paypal when underage, so if this is the case for you, read this article and consider closing your account and opening a new one when 18+ :
https://hackernoon.com/paypal-is-st.....e-42f3c13f6cd0
I will still be using PayPal (as it is my only money manager at the moment), but if other money management apps become widespread, I will be considering getting those apps too (or fully switching over if PP dies out, which I'm not sure will be anytime soon.)Character Purge (Trading characters for art)

So I drank that unicorn frap... (review)
Posted 8 years agoLink t my review on dA with tags and pics: http://fav.me/db6qxj9
Some friends from high school dragged me out to go try it since they knew I really wanted to!
Flavor/experience review:
For those of you wondering about the flavor...
I liked it, I drank a whole medium cup and I didn't choke on it like a lot of people have, but its probably not something I would order again? Aside from curiosity to taste it again. I actually heard from a couple people that it was AWFUL, but it made me want to try it even more.
It kinda tasted like peptobismol or stale strawberry starbursts, and then the blue part and the powder on top is just super sour, so if you lick it directly its like straight up citric acid. The "color changing, flavor changing" aspect of the drink I believe is that as the ice crystals in the slush melt, more of the color is visible, and the flavor changing part, the sour blue part smeared on the walls of the cup sink to the bottom and you slurp it up and the flavor changes from powder fruity to sour.
I didn't like that the flavor is like, soft???? Like instead of a sharp fruit flavor it kinda tasted like that powdery soft version, so its kinda gross to some people? Some say it tastes like mango (I'd say more like pink starburst), but if it does, itd be like “marshamllow mango” version like the way those strawberry marshmallows barely taste like strawberry as opposed to a strawberry slushie.
So that's my review on it! It isn't as revoltingly awful as some people claim it is (at least not to me), but it isn't my go-to of flavor experiences and was also rather disappointing since I was expecting a lot more.
But maybe I am just some strange heathen that can eat/drink most things because a couple of my friends had gag responses to the drink ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I personally really liked the sour parts.
Definitely if you are picky about flavors/textures, don't buy it for yourself, but have someone with iron tastebuds order it and just steal some sips/flavor sampling from all parts of the drink.
Overall, I don't know what I would give it?
Maybe like a 4.5/10? It wasn't absolutely awful, but it was rather meh and my expectations were super high.

Posted 8 years agoHey all!
Hope this journal sees you well!
I know my post rate and productivity has slowed down significantly on dA, and this is due to school/life keeping me occupied. All the free moments away from school I can get are really generally spent sleeping. Come summer, I will be posting more to my dA gallery as I churn out owed art!
That being said, I do have an Instagram and try to post daily to it by drawing simple sketches, posting work in progress shots of school assignments, paintings, or reposting previous art from time to time; stuff that doesn't always make it to my dA gallery because it either is too simple/sketchy, doesn't seem complete enough, photographed well enough, or it's something I want to color before putting it up here.
I am really trying to grow my viewer base on instagram since it has become an important tool for artists, and I would appreciate any follows over there, too! ;v;
https://www.instagram.com/rainbowfoxyart/
I'm considering doing an instagram raffle later down the road when I have more time on my hands, so that's something to look forward to, too! ;0;

Anthro Literature Interest Check
Posted 8 years agoHey guys!
I haven't checked in on here in a while, and my activity has grown a little sparse. Sorry about that, I'm recently flooded with school related work.
That being said, I have a fiction workshop course for my creative writing minor, and the story/stories I am writing for it concern my anthro/furry characters. I figured that anthro/furry literature might be interesting and appreciated here on FA, especially if I ever manage to get to illustrating scenes like vignettes for chapters (or split chapters if they get particularly long or have multiple good scenes).
So I wanted to do an interest check for this. If anyone would be interested in my literary pieces, I'll start considering uploading them or thinking more seriously about doing drawings for them (wether small or full in the near future).
As a forewarning, my stories are of mature, graphic adult themes. Not adult oriented in the pornographic sense, necessarily (at least not the parts that I am writing for my course), but in terms of just heavy content and topics. My writing can get pretty dark, but rest assured there are (or at least will be in the future) happier parts.
I am currently working with two distinct protagonists, that I intended for them to later meet down the road and have a story together, but with how things are developing in the writing, I am not super sure when or how that will happen since the characters and their situations are getting minds of their own.
One character is a horse gal named KC. She gets away from an abusive boyfriend and has to fend for herself as a homeless youth for a while. This story arc so far as content warnings for self harm/injury mentions and domestic abuse/abusive behavior, verbal abuse/swearing/slurs. The other character is a silver fox named Ashe. She works as a prostitute. So far this story arc has content warnings for mature, sexual content, some descriptions of gross anthros in the bad parts of town, sexual assault, and murder/graphic+disturbing violence/death.
I know I am not the only one who likes to explore the shitty side of things and explore commentary on them and just generally likes to take away lessons from tragic stories. So i wanted to see if anyone was interested, and if this would be content people would want me to post/share to my FA gallery. I would probably sort it into its own folder so its not seen in the main gallery, due to unpleasant content, and would make sure to upload thumbnails and content warnings.
For some context, if anyone is familiar with Fauxlacine, I really enjoy their work, and take some inspiration from it, though it won't be sure focused on gore/medical gore and whatnot as much as its just troubling real life themes.
So yeah, thats it on what I wanted to ask! Hope everyone is well. ;v;
Please let me know what you think!

I Made an Art Instagram
Posted 8 years agoAfter much thought, I decided to create an art instagram.
I will try to be active on it, and use it as incentive and motivation to be more artistically productive.
I know many people who have reaped the benefits of having an art presence on instagram, both in viewership as well as daily-drawing discipline, and I figured I should try doing the same.
I will be trying to post as frequently as I can, and I feel as though the content that goes on there will probably mostly be sketchbook stuff or general things on-hand until I can find more time to do more finished things.
I would really really appreciate it if people could follow me on there to keep up with me :)
There may be some signal boost and raffle events in the not-sodistant-future!
Without further adieu, my art instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/rainbowfoxyart/What inspires you? What art do you like?
Posted 8 years agoHey all! I've been a little absent from the interwebs art sites since I have gotten quite busy with school and it hasn't left me with much free time at all. I have barely found the time to draw anything that doesn't correspond to school, which has been really draining. This week has been rough and I still have not exactly managed to get back on the ball without feeling some sort of stress over what I have to churn out, so I might be a little withdrawn. If its interesting to you guys though, I can try to post some sketchbook drawings or even class based work that I am making.
I figured a fun journal would be nice and keep up the interaction with my watchers (along with bring together some place to check up on for inspiration or feedback or just chit chat and whatnot).
So. What inspires you? Whether its drawing, working, or having the energy to finish that one big gross work project by your deadline: what (or who) inspires you?
On the theme of art, what kind of art do you like and find most impressive or pleasing to look at? Why?
For me, my inspiration comes from an assortment of artists and just artwork that I run into daily online. Youtube also has some really cool "sketchbook tour" videos that are always really inspiring and get those creative juices flowing. Sometimes even just listening to a song and focusing and paying attention to what I 'see' or imagine when I hear the song is also really inspiring.
In terms of what artwork I really like or find impressive, my artistic tastes of what I find appealing varies very largely! I admire a lot of fine artists with incredible attention for detail, technical skill, and compositional skill in oil paintings, but I also really really admire super creative and technically skilled sci-fi fantasy drawings. I also love sketches, whether colored or uncolored, that are emotive and have lots of energy, beautiful and detailed watercolor pieces. I aLSO really like animation illustration approaches, with simple silhouettes and more exaggerated features. But when it comes to casually browsing online and the content I like to seek out, well drawn monsters and creatures with character are really fun. Lots of stuff!
How about you?I sent a letter to my congresswoman (please read)
Posted 9 years agoHey guys. Seeing as the Trump administration is preparing to make some big changes to how things work around here, I want to express and emphasize the importance of reaching out and contacting your congress men and women who represent your districts. It seems daunting and scary, but it is honestly not very hard. You can find your representative and your +4 zip online through websites, and each congressional representative tends to have a website and a way to easily contact them.
You can find your congress representative here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
And you can find out your +4 zip numbers here: https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookup.....p;refresh=true
They don't often get contacted (people tend to prefer to yell about it online and get mad than contact their representatives), and many of them will be up for reelection soon, so it is in your best interest to contact them and voice your opinions if you feel strongly about something, and it is in their best interest to hear you out and support what you like represented, especially if you are of voting age, because it makes it more likely to be voted in favor of for and get reelected.
The concern I voiced in particular is the planned defunding of arts and humanities, basically cutting the NEH and NEA. Here is an article about it (http://www.artnews.com/2017/01/19/r.....e-the-nea-neh/) but I'm sure you can find more.
If you feel strongly about anything being proposed by the new administration, I implore you to contact your representative. After seeing how easy it was, I will definitely try to do it more often about things I feel strongly about. It is also good practice to put thoughts into words/formal writing, and also will be more likely to make a change than simply venting to friends, family, or social media.
You can see my letter bellow, with my congressional representative and name omitted, of course.
That being said, please don't plagiarize my letter, but definitely feel free to reference its structure or tone if having examples helps you write emails.
"Dear esteemed Congresswoman (my district representative),
It has come to my attention via some news articles that the upcoming Trump administration plans to make very large budget cuts to the arts and humanities programs, virtually eliminating the NEH and NEA funding. Whether or not this becomes a reality lies in the hands of our congress. I feel very strongly about this issue as an art student seeking to major in an Illustration + entertainment emphasis career, and a youth who practices and very passionately loves the arts and humanities. I think that cutting and defunding this very important program will only negatively affect society in America; art and the humanities are a strong, predominant aspect of human culture and offers a richness that can only be acquired through the arts. So much vivid thought and ingenuity stems from the creative artistic minds in our society, defunding such a program would inhibit future ingenuity of the country. The arts and humanities are already underfunded, underrepresented, and under-encouraged important aspects of human society; further removal of these human wonders of thought and creation is a heartbreaking thought. There are so many young artists in California capable of so much greatness and can offer so much to their communities and societies through their gifts, defunding the NEA and NEH will cripple their potential and opportunities.
Contrary to popular belief, the arts and humanities are actually a bustling and successful economic source. Art is everywhere, even things as mundane as the chairs we sit in, the clothes we wear, or the blankets we sleep with have been imagined, invented, and created by artists and creative minds. Our writers, journalists, singers, musicians, dancers, actors, artists, animators, movie makers, directors, website designers, furniture designers, fashion designers, shoe makers, advertisement creators, logo makers, and a multitude of other jobs and professions come from the arts and humanities, all together comprising a trillion dollar industry.
With this in mind, I feel that it would be in the best interest of the creative youth seeking their realization as well as the future economy, ingenuity, and creativity of not only California, but the United States of America to preserve funding for the Arts and Humanities and even further encourage it. Defunding arts and humanities has more negative than positive consequences in my opinion, and I would very strongly appreciate your support in this issue that I feel incredibly strongly about.
I sincerely thank you for your time and consideration on this big issue, and I appreciate your work and representation of our California district.

Should I upload 8 Grem2 drawings?
Posted 9 years agoI did 8 drawings like a week or so ago of various people's grems (and mine) and was wondering if people would want to see that art posted here? If yes I can just go ahead and post them here, too. If not Ill just keep it on dA!

If you were to date one of my OCs...
Posted 9 years agoIf you were to date one of my OCs...
Which one, and why?
http://sta.sh/21d2rkvu20zo
(Some have bios, others do not!)
Saw this float by in submissions and I figured it would be a fun idea! But I wanted it to be more interactive and discussion based and to here people's thoughts and reasoning. :p
Feel free to give any reasoning you want, say what you feel is appropriate.
Alternatively, you could talk about which of your OCs would date one of mine and why (this includes CS if you want). c:
(this honestly isn't for any reason beyond my curiosity and desire to talk with everyone here more! I have been unfortunately busy as of late. But if certain OC matches are interesting.. hmmmmmm ;v; )(Please Read) Winter Break Comm Inquiry
Posted 9 years ago
Between Dec 18 and Jan 23 I will be on winter break, and I want to know who will definitively commission me if I open up for commissions. I'm up to hearing about anyone who is considering, too, but if there is enough interest I will sort out paypal and whatnot to start working again.
I have over a month off for my winter break, and I will have ample time. My mother wants me to get a 'seasonal job' for that one month, but jobs here rarely hire for only a month or less, and if I get a job at this time, it will most likely be a retail job doing the season holiday shifts no one wanted and Christmas and New Years Eve/day shifts instead of being with my family, loved ones, and friends (which is when my bother will be coming home for the holidays, other than that I rarely get to see him anymore. Only time I can regularly see my boyfriend before he goes to school, too, which takes a toll). Not to mention that I can't drive/don't have my own car so my parents would have to drive me to and from work, or I would have to take an Uber, which would render any earnings pointless or to only a couple bucks per hour. My parents and I brought this up and my father shot down the idea saying that it would be pointless and just additional headaches. I tend to make more per hour freelancing if I work without distractions than I would getting a retail job, without having the additional stress that comes with it, so I really want to get more commission work over break or probably open up YCHs, adopts, etc to scrape up some cash.
And since school is super busy, the only time I can really freelance now without taking a while to complete things is on breaks because all other times I am either sleeping or doing schools stuff.
If there is a fair amount of interest for comms, I will sort out paypal/make my own paypal and take work to complete during my winter break to try to get some money which I very surely need for school, saving, and any other needs. If there isn't any interest..? Well, that sucks, but it is what it is I guess, and I know people are saving their money for the holidays right now. But again, my break goes all the way to January 23rd, so after new years I will still be off/hopefully available for commissions if anyone was interested.
If you have ANY questions about commissions/the content I take/a quote, etc, please let me know/note me now/sooner rather than later! I am happy to answer any and all questions and inquiries set to my art page or any of my online art galleries/presences (like dA, FA, twitter, etc), don't be shy.
Yes, I can take NSFW and niche inquiries even though I don't get them often. G - XXX is fine by me as long as it abides by my TOS and what I will and won't draw.STREAMING - Dracostryx/homework
Posted 9 years agoFREE Art Raffle! (TONS of Prizes!!!!)
Posted 9 years agoI have a raffle going on in honor of celebrating 3,000 dA watchers!
Please read the dA journal for details, this is where you can find all information: http://fav.me/dairp34
Currently there are 11 prizes for first place, 9 for second, and 4 for third! There are multiple ways to enter, and you can get multiple ticket entries to win, so don't be discouraged about entries. c:
Granted, you DON'T need a deviantArt to enter! As long as you are following me somewhere, whether its dA, twitter, youtube, Facebook, or weasyl, you still have a chance at winning! People who choose to donate art to the raffle will be entered in another, donators-only raffle for more prize opportunities; you can still enter the general raffle if you donate. :)
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! If you wish to donate art, but you don't have dA, you can comment here with the form filled out, and I'll comment for you on the journal! But if you DO have deviant art, PLEASE comment on the linked donators stash journal, thank you!
Spreading the word and showing your friends would greatly help; the more people join, the better the raffle becomes. Both the general and donator raffle will have increases in prizes he more people join/contribute. Lets work together to make this a HUGE and awesome event!

Free Art Raffle? Updates!
Posted 9 years agoHI guys! Gonna provide you all with some updates.
If you want to go straight to the raffle info, skip down under the line break
Just wanted to toss some update up into the air for ya'll.
School has started up for me (about a few weeks in now), and although I LOVE it and couldn't be happier, school is also busy as hell and I haven't really drawn anything that doesn't pertain to school since my last upload. So I am very sorry for the wait on people I owe art to; theres been a little bit of a slow down but ill be trying to whip my ass in gear the coming weeks.
Granted, this has been because I have been splitting my weekends between school and seeing my partner before he leaves for the school year. Saturday night was the last time I saw him, after the prior day was a huge huge emotional roller coaster that left us both feeling pretty messed up, but I am happy to say everything has leveled off and resolved to a nice sense of closure. I saw him on a real good, positive note. So as much as I miss him already with all my heart, I have no concerns with the strength of our relationship, and I know the months prior to winter break will fly by.
But yeah, now that he's off and away, that leaves my weekends basically entirely for schoolwork and owed art most days (along with general life errands), so I am hoping to bring back the art flow to my social media. I do have another photoshop assignment piece to post soon, that will be uploaded this week, along with a speed paint of the colorization process. I have lots of other crap and homework I've done from school, but it seems like it'd be rather boring and I don't know if anyone wants to see that. If you do want to see my assignment work, please drop me a comment and let me know!
Now for the art raffle!
I am slowly but surely approaching 3,000 followers on dA, and I couldn't be more thankful. I sincerely appreciate each and every watcher, fav, comment, share, etc even though I might not always be able to get to each comment or personally thank everyone.
I wanted to host a big raffle to celebrate the moment I hit 3k watchers. I wanted to make this an expansive and inclusive raffle in which you can gain tickets by watching me on other sites, too, so I am highly considering using rafflecopter for it. (So you don't necessarily need a dA account to enter! If you have twitter, fur affinity, Facebook, picarto, etc, you can still enter!)
One thing I wanted to do differently however, but not sure if it would work with rafflecopter, is to open up for prize donations. Originally I was thinking of granting extra entries to people who were donating prizes, but again, I don't think that would work with rafflecopter, and NOT using raffle copter would be super difficult. So what do you think I should do? Here were some ideas I was thinking of doing to encourage prize donations to expand the raffle and make it huge and awesome:
-Make a separate raffle for donators, so they have better chances of winning (similar prize[s] but a smaller pool of entrants since it'll be donators only)
-OR simply do a traditional lines bust for each person that donates something. Or maybe simple, small colored busts.
-Feature donators and their art work in a big feature journal.
-Feature donators on my profile page (make a new section under idols or something)
Of course, I would definitely encourage people joining the raffle to follow the donators (because, duh, thats common courtesy if you are potentially getting art from them) so it would be a good way to get some exposure (god I hate that word/argument, but its true. Raffles get passed around a lot).
Of course if the option that something is drawn for each donator is selected, I would need to insert some sort of quality control and make sure people aren't just donating stick figures and very poorly drawn doodles just to get a drawing from me. Donators would also be required to complete the art they owe from the raffle before receiving art from me. If its just a donator specific raffle, I'd be more lenient with who can donate, but granted, at least intermediate level artists would be preferred. c:
Currently, I am more leaning towards doing a separate donator raffle! Thinking of maybe doing many prizes/place winners if tons of people enter. First place would get a colored and cell shaded 1 character, full body, second place gets a single character colored sketch, and third gets a colored sketch half body (traditional or digital lines).
If I get a big jump in watchers, First place would get a colored and cell shaded 2character, full body, second place gets a single character colored and cell shaded full body, third gets a colored sketch full body (traditional or digital lines). Fourth and fifth place gets a digital colored sketch bust, and sixth and seventh place get cleaned up traditional busts, no colors.
Donators would get to pick to which place they want to donate their prize, but if it seems uneven/out of place, I'll adjust! The more pieces donated, the more entries. The more donated pieces, the bigger the prize. At the moment I'm thinking a 2-character colored and cell shaded drawing. I could add more in accordance to how many donators pitch in; the more the merrier! The more art offered, the bigger and more fun this raffle can become! If donators want, we could also add even more places, but more than 7 seems a little excessive to me XD
This raffle would be on for some months, probably ending around the beginning or middle of my long winter break so that I have time to comfortably complete raffle prize.
Please let me know what you think, and if you have any feedback and/or suggestions, please let me know! I am sure it would be very helpful!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
