Late Website Updates.
Posted 13 years agoOver the last couple weeks we have made a couple updates to the website, in no particular order: the events page has been updated with a final (or as close to final as we can get) schedule, also, we posted a new set of links to our google calendar based electronic schedule.
The dealers page has been updated with a map, and table locations for all the dealers.
Furthermore, We will have fursuit eartags this year, they will be handed out at-con, with the exception of tags 69 and 366, those will be saved for the charity auction.

Pre-Registration has closed.
Posted 13 years agoPre-Registration has closed with over 1020 paid pre-registrations - this puts us 200 or so over last years pre-registration numbers!. If you missed out, don't worry, you will be able to register at the convention, starting at 11 am, Thursday, September 27th, 2012
Pre-Registration Closes September 1st

Our pre-registration system will close down on September 1st; after that, memberships are only available at the price of $40 at the door, so save yourself $5 and register now! Please note, if you are mailing a cheque, it must be postmarked before September 3rd, 2012.

2nd Annual Rainfurrest BBQ
Posted 13 years agoRainFurrest will be having its Second Annual BBQ this year on July 21st, 2012 from 11:00 AM (or so) to Dusk, at the lower picnic shelter of Richmond Beach Saltwater Park in Shoreline. (Link to Map)
We will start arriving around 11:00am and food should start to be ready around 1:00pm. RainFurrest will be getting all the food and pop, however folks are encouraged to bring more stuff to share. You should also bring your favorite games and activities and perhaps some fireood to burn in the fire pit!
As we will be there from morning to dusk - it is recommended you bring sunscreen and a jacket should the weather cool.
See you all there!

2012 Event Highlights!

Last year at RainFurrest we had an unofficial chalk drawing area at the rear of the hotel near the back parking lot.
As it seemed to be a very popular event, RainFurrest decided to make this an official creative space, however to keep the hotel from washing it away, and to insure we can do it in the future, we had to add some rules:
1. G rated art only - In other words, no adult drawings. Should less than appropriate drawings show up we will lose this creative space.
2. Leave the area as you found it - No modifications to Hotel or Parking signs and no drawing on the walls.
So that's about it. RainFurrest will supply the chalk for folks to use and so long as it doesn.t rain, it will run all day Friday and Saturday.
Tails and Ears Workshop
Back by popular demand, the Tails and Ears Workshop returns for another year. For just a small fee to cover the cost of materials, you can learn it by doing it. Best of all, by the end of the workshop you'll have a set to wear.
Book Launches
RainFurrest is one of the fandom's greatest writing conventions, and this year we're proving it with no less than TWO book launches! We're premiering the release of a new book from Kyell Gold, as well as RainFurrest's newest anthology!
Introducing the Music Track
Looking to refine technique? Want to learn what is out there in music? We have a programming line-up dedicated to just this!
Participatory Events
Bring your instruments with you this year! We are, as always, accepting acts for our variety show, and have also added an open mic night and a number of jam sessions, including a return of our drum circle.
Ceremonies and Awards
RainFurrest is proud to announce the first annual Coyotl Awards ceremony, sponsored by the Furry Writers' Guild! In addition, there will be an induction ceremony for the longstanding Ursa Major Awards! Come and show your support for all those writers and artists who make furry fandom so fun!
Games!
Lots and lots of games, electronic and otherwise! There will be tournaments and demos every day, or you can just stop by for some open play - so you'll always have lots to do, even when you don't have lots to do.
Live Modeling
Also this year, we will have some new live modeling panels. Like last year there will still be two nighttime nude live model panels, but now we will also have two during the day this time with clothing. Several artists asked for this as to get a better idea how clothing fits on the models form as well as the added benefit of how better draw clothing. Just another thing RainFurrest is doing to offer a better experience to the attendee.

Overflow Hotel announed!

Our Warehouse Furteen agents have been hard at work securing us an overflow hotel for us and we are pleased to annouce that the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Seattle Airport will be our official overflow hotel this year.
Rooms are $119 per night and both king bed and two double bed rooms are availible.

Would you like to be a part of one of the top furry conventions in the world? We're still looking for dedicated staff to help us in hosting what our attendees continue to call "the best furry convention in the world!"
No matter if you just want to work a few hours during the convention, or you'd like to get involved in the behind the scenes of the convention year round, or even just want to contribute your ideas!, we have room for you on our ever growing team!
The best way to get involved is to come to one of our meetings, so below is our meeting schedule for the rest of 2011.

Onward and updward!, in the coming weeks we will be putting more information about the Guness World Records attempt, the Digital Schedule for Smartphones, and more events updates, furthermore, keep an eye out for our upcoming newsletter! Less then 60 days 'till RainFurrest! I know we can't wait!

table this year. We were unprepared to handle the speed at which the
dealers den sold out. Please apply for positions on our waiting list in
case we can expand the dealers den or openings come up between now and
the convention.
Given the interest, we will be having an Artist Alley this year. The
exact plans on how it will be implemented are being worked out and we'll
make sure to inform everyone once it has been decided.
Again, we are as surprised as you guys are at the demand for dealers
tables this year; we were expecting a few more months before the room
was full.

DragonDyne Publishing has came out with a game called Neverwhen. What is Neverwhen? Check out there web site http://www.dragondyne.com/default.htm and come to the con and find out. The games Creator Dustin Gross will be coming to Rainfurrest and demoing his game (which btw has antromorphs in it), so how cool is that. So come join Dustin and play his game.

Our fantastic minstrel Alexander James Adams will be back to sooth us with his wonderful voice and song.
The wonderful and worldly scribe Kyell Gold will be back to RainFurrest to help new and upcoming writers hone their craft.

Patron Lounge Activities

For the Sponsors and Patrons that fly in Thursday Night we will have a Wine and cheeses social for you all. Come meet the GOH early and socialize with the staff before the con starts. We will have a list of you all so you will need to have your id’s to check in and to drink. We will have a non-alcoholic punch for the non-drinkers.
Saturday High Tea –
This is the time where we of Rainfurrest are going to honor the woman of furry fandom. The woman in furry fandom do get the recognition they deserve so on Saturday from 4:00pm to 5:30pm we will be closing the patron lounge and throwing a “Furry High Tea” so we can show how much we respect and cherish them. Hosted by Gene Armstrong and Alex James Adams.
Sunday After Con Patron Wine down –
For those Patrons that aren’t flying out until Monday we will be re-opening the lounge in the evening time for a wine down. So come please join us tare down and then come wine down.
Friday Night Artist Reception –
Friday Night at 9:00pm we will be having an artist reception in the Art Show. This will be for the artist in the art show, the dealers in the dealers room and for are patrons members. So artist hurry and get your panel, dealers get your table, and people get those patrons memberships. This will be a semi-formal event.

Get together in Real Life with those folks you’ve been chatting with in Second Life, and meet some new friends. If you have a badge with your character and if you have a picture you would like to send us, we will be running a digital projector and computer on the wall to show the people who we have. Send all pictures (G or PG only, please) to dragonfly.goodnight@gmail.com. If you have any questions, you can use that e-mail or contact Dusk Goodnight or Dragonfly Goodnight on SL.
Plushie Costume Contest –
We are going to take a break from this, this year. We love plushies friends, but we have exhausted our supplies. So we will be taking a year off an try to gather up supplies and try to look for someone to run the contest.

We will be having two live (human) model for our artists. This workshop will be Friday night ( Male Model) and Saturday Night (female model). You must be at least 18 years old as well as have ID and be an attending member of Rainfurrest to register. At the time of the panel, you will need to have your ID with you. There are only 12 slots available, so register quickly! Once the door shuts, there will be no leaving until the hour is up. Please check the grid online and in your pocket program fro the times and location. You may register by e-mailing dragonfly.goodnight[at]rainfurrest.com
Charity Fundraiser -
This year charity is (add name later). We will be having a charity auction on Sunday, but some of us have put our faces on the line for the charity. Yes I said our Faces. You will find at the con store jars with my name on it and also Norths, Trapa's, and Alohas. The person with the most money raise will get hit in the face with a pie. Yes a pie. After closing ceremonies we will tell you who won and the person that volunteers the most hours at the convention will have the honor of the doing the pie in the face.
I bet your thinking, " Hey Gene we can't come this year but we would like to donate, how can we do that?" Well you can send a check or money order to the Rainfurrest address and send a not of who's jar it is for our send it via our paypal.
