Overflow Hotel
Posted 15 years agoYou may have noticed by now that you can't get Thursday night or Sunday night at the Marriott at our convention rate. Rainfurrest was only able to have a limited number of rooms on those days and the Marriott WILL NOT be giving us any more. We have gone to our friends at the Hilton - Seattle Airport, right next door to the Marriott, to be our 2010 overflow hotel.
So if you're coming to Rainfurrest for Friday thru Sunday there are currently still rooms at the Marriott. These may sell out in the future, so finalize your plans as soon as you can! If you're staying Thursday night or Sunday night, or both, you can either pay the normal rate for those nights at the Marriott, or stay at the Hilton instead at the con rate of just $112 per night!
To book your room at the Hilton, just visit their online reservation system or call them at 1-206-248-7168 and reference group code FUR. Please make sure to select the correct dates for the length of your stay.
Please be aware that there will be no fursuit floors at the Hilton. Also, while room socials will be allowed, we ask that you keep them small and quiet. The same standards of conduct that we expect of our attendees at the Marriott also apply at the Hilton.

Reg is up!

Posted 16 years agoHello Rainfurrest Fans!
Outbreak!!
It's my duty to report a dangerous outbreak of cute, furry, anthropomorphic zombies has begun spreading from the Pacific Northwest faster than you can type H1N1. The identity of the original host and the origins of the outbreak remain cloaked in mystery but appear to date back to September, 2008.
We're investigating possible sources and cures at Rainfurrest but we may need your help this September to find out how this horrifically cute zombie attack can be thwarted. We'll keep you posted.
Big Enough?
Rainfurrest is growing. From our first event in 2007 with 370 fans attending, we grew to 599 fans in just one year. Rainfurrest 2009 is still five months away, but early data is showing our growth will continue. In preparation, we've expanded our con space including a larger Theater, Hangar, Fursuit Headless Lounge, and many other rooms. We've added a few more rooms for panels and events as well. Registration this year will include more kiosks to uphold our fandom-wide reputation for getting you registered and out enjoying the con at jet-city speeds.
That’s Entertainment
It’s been four years since 2 the Ranting Gryphon entertained in Seattle, so we’re bringing him back! 2 will do a comedy show, host some panels, and maybe even make an appearance at our Guest of Honor Dinner. 2 is a big part of the furry fandom, and we just thought it was really important we bring him here so all the new- or less-traveled furs have the chance to see and hear him yell and swear in person.
In addition to 2, we're very honored to have beloved musical guest Alexander James Adams return to Rainfurrest for a full concert. DJ's Ear Velvet (Thumper) and Audio Dile (Croc) will be supersizing our dances this year in our bigger, badder, and perhaps zombie-safe main theater.
We've also got a full plate of panels, games, and activities to fill our expanded con space. We'll be announcing those details a little later.
As we get bigger, we’re going to need lots more help in the theatre, monitoring games and events, checking IDs and credentials, setting up rooms, and keeping signs up to date … all those things that need doing. If you have always wanted a chance to be on staff, now’s the time to get involved! We’re hiring. Send an e-mail indicating your interest from the Rainfurrest website: www.rainfurrest.org
Rainfurrest on the Road
The intrepid staff has taken Rainfurrest on the road. (Are they responsible for spreading the anthro-zombie plague?!) Last month Rainfurrest showed the members of the Norwescon science fiction community what furry is all about at a pizza party. The very next day they helped educate the anime fans at Sakuracon.
Our next big event is the Rainfurrest party at All Fur Fun, May 15-17th. We’re going to host another pizza party and the hotel has agreed to set up a cash bar! This one’s going to be a lot of fun. (I mentioned the bar, right?) I’d like to see as many Rainfurs as possible there.
New General Meeting Date
For those that missed the announcement, I’ve added another general staff meeting to the calendar for May 30th. It will be at the Seatac Marriott Hotel at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is your chance to be exposed to the anthro-zombie virus and become “One of Us”!
Cheers,
North
