Becquerel FAQ
General | Posted 9 years agoI get a lot of questions about my Becquerel fursuit. I thought I'd put together a little FAQ.
Q. Which suit is Becquerel?
A. This one:

Q. What character is he?
A. He is based off fan art that is based on a character from the webcomic Homestuck ( http://www.mspaintadventures.com/ ). So in a way he is both a cosplay and a fursuit, and I can wear him at more things.
Q. Aren't you worried about having a suit that is based off some commercial property?
A. Not really. Cosplay is a big part of the Homestuck fandom, and this is a one-of-a-kind, custom made suit. I doubt they'd bother. I've also had artists say that the original design is so simple that they have no problem basing art off it. I have no idea how well that would stand up though.
Q. How do you pronounce it?
A. It's a French name, so you could pronounce it the original accented French way, or the Anglicized way. "Bec" (BECK) is totally fine.
Q. Who made the suit?

Q. Is he like a wolf, or what is he?
A. Dog. The creator has said his breed is "Omnipoterrier" but that may be a joke. There is a fan theory that he is German Shepherd (a white one, like Bolt).
Q. Why so white? Is he like a ghost?
A. No, he's quite physical. I wouldn't want to say too much, so I don't give spoilers. As succinctly as I can put it: Genetically Modified by Alien Science.
Q. So with white eyes, is he blind?
A. He's never referred or hinted at being blind in the comic, so he's either not blind, or he sees what he needs to see.
Q. I think I saw the head lit up from the inside once, but not any of the other times?
A. Yes, it lights up. This is built into the head. If it's light out, it's barely visible so I don't always put batteries in. I'm hoping to have more of the body light up. This is what it looks like:

A. That is his favorite, radioactive steak (a Homestuck reference). And yes, I know "Henri Becquerel" is one of the discoverers of radioactivity.

Vancouver Halloween Fursuit Walk
General | Posted 9 years agoEach year, Furries walk around Downtown Vancouver in their fursuits. We have a hotel room right downtown to serve as change space.

Some life advice
General | Posted 10 years agoI usually shy away from life advice because I know that I can completely miss the emotional complexities of things, and yeah, I've messed up because of it.
This is directed to no one in particular *cough*:
You can't make someone forgive you. Learn from your mistakes, apologize, make tangible amends if appropriate. Then if they don't forgive you, you have to leave it alone.
You can't make someone be your friend. The furry community with its fast friends is the anomaly. Outside furry, if you're not exactly what someone's looking for, you wouldn't make it past the first step of friendship.
If you're worried about rumors, live your life in way that no one will believe it even when they hear it.
I could be totally wrong about any of this. I am not a mental health professional. Most furries aren't. I'm sorry, but if you're indiscriminate about who you unload on, you're burdening them with something when they can barely handle their own. Talk to a real professional. Call 911 if you or someone else is in danger.

Fursuiting at New Westminster Pride
General | Posted 10 years agoTL;DR: Come fursuiting at New Westminster Pride this Saturday the 15th.
The New Westminster Pride society offered the local furries a booth at their street festival August 15th.
How we want to show our Furry Pride is up to us. It could be arts and crafts, ears and tails, talking to people about what it means to you, or yes, fursuiting. I'm planning on getting a tent big enough to change, that will fit in our booth.
We'll have a table where we can give out business cards or pamphlets. The only restriction is that we can't sell anything.

What suit should I try to get in time for BronyCAN
General | Posted 11 years agoEarlier I asked for suggestions on what my next suit should be, hopefully in time for BronyCAN. Here are the suggestions I collected for a My Little Pony-related suit. Cause I want something I can wear to BronyCAN.
You can also write in something not on the list. I don't think I'd be comfortable playing a female character though.
It may not be a full suit, it might be in the format of a hoodie or kigurumi.
