I used to reply to every comment at least once and thank every watcher. But the past few years I was really missing the drive and energy to do that.
As some of you might have noticed, I at least started replying to comments again...
In addition, I have a HUGE backlog of things to post - but I'll try to slowly work on that as well now...

After posting daily since mid January - everything on my immediate TODO list is now posted.
I feel much happier knowing that all the artworks that have accumulated are finally out of the way.
However if you are used to my posting pace of the past few weeks, I will have to disappoint you a little :)
I can finally take care of some things that I've kept postponing...

I will start posting old commissions at a daily rate, so it will take me some time to post everything :)
At the same time, I've been trying to post something every day from my backlog. I'm really happy that I've managed to do that, since I really feel better now. At this pace, I will have caught up with my backlog in 3-4 weeks.

As the title says - I'm sorry for the HUGE delay in uploading things. I have some vacation coming up and I really want to finish up all the things that I've been slacking on during that time... As you probably know, I always try to write a nice description that goes along with the commission. But I'm more than 6 months behind with uploading and feedback now and I will focus now really focus on moving things along. That's why I made a list to really pressure me to tick off every item on the following lists...

Happy New Year 2020!
General | Posted 6 years agoI wish everyone a Happy New Year 2020!
There were quite huge changes in my life last year: I quit academia for good and started a new job in industry. Leaving behind a job that was really fun but not very stable for a new permanent, better paid job was actually harder than I thought. I also moved TWICE for that new job. First I moved back to my parents where I was able to do a LONG daily commute to my new workplace - and then a second time to my new own place, which is much closer. I like my new job and the people there like me, so things seem to have worked out nicely so far.
Like last year, I'm certain that 2020 will be a great year :)
I'm very thankful for the time that I spend with my furry friends - both online and at the conventions and meets that I attended. In particular while I was moving, I had little time for them - but things should improve now, that everything is settling down. I'm also looking forward to the two cons in 2020 that are almost 100% certain: NFC and EF ... and maybe there will be others :)
For 2020, my main new year's resolution is to procrastinate less :P (HEHE - that's the same as last year!) I will *really* try this year tho... *makes lazy wolf noises*
Last year, I hid away an art raffle in my "Happy New Year" journal. However this time, I'm just linking to the art raffle over on twitter, since I recently reached a big milestone there and together with New Year it seemed like a good way to celebrate:

5/5 - If it's permanent, I really expect the character to be happy afterwards. (See my note about the char not being miserable after the change!)

1000 Watcher Raffle Reminder
General | Posted 7 years agoSo - I've been thinking about how to properly do the raffle that I've hidden away in my previous "Happy New Year" journal. Since I want to avoid being unfair, I'm writing this little reminder so everyone can see it.
I will close the raffle in a little bit over one day: http://bit.ly/2S8z0ld
However to reward the early birds who signed up, I will count the names of those people that are already signed up now 3 times in the draw.
I'm also changing the draw of the raffle a bit, so everyone can reproduce the result if they want to and additionally make it impossible for myself to influence the draw in any way. I will use this script: http://tpcg.io/plBjxm
When the countdown is over, I will first fill in those names that will sign up for the raffle in the "late" list. Then I will post this artwork: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30136669/ on my twitter account https://twitter.com/RakanHowls and use the twitter ID of the post as the random seed in that script. That seems like the most tamper proof and fair solution to me :)

The last year was a bit of a mixed bag and most of all much more busy than I expected - but as I wrote in my last submission of 2018: "Let's leave everything bad behind that happened last year and move on...". I'm usually an optimist, so I'm confident that 2019 will be an amazing year :)
About last year: I had some incredibly wonderful experiences in 2018 - but it was also the year when some devastating things happened. And if you followed the posted artwork you probably know what I mean :/ So 2018 can be best described as an emotional roller coaster. Still - I'm very thankful for the time I was fortunate enough to spend with my furry friends - both online and at the conventions and meets I attended .
I also want to apologize to everyone who I promised something but was unable to deliver. That includes in particular the people who just wanted to chat with me. As some of my friends can probably confirm, I'm a rather quiet and introverted person, so it can be quite hard to make small talk with me and get me started.
I also want to thank all the people who were kind to me in any way - especially since I sometimes feel that I'm not expressing my gratitude good enough. I hope I can repay you in some sense in the upcoming year.
For 2019, my main new year's resolution is to procrastinate less :P In particular since there is so much to do this year! So let me close the New Year's wishes with this: I hope everyone who reads this will be blessed with good health, luck, success and happiness in the new year!
In other news: A few weeks ago, I also passed the 1000 watcher mark. While it makes me very happy that this many people think I'm worth following, I'm a bit saddened by the fact that quite a few artists who worked with me have less followers here on FA now than I have.

As the saying goes: Pictures are worth more than a 1000 words. (Although I'm very happy about the stories as well :D)

What day are you getting there?
I'll arrive on June 4th in the afternoon
How are you traveling?
I'll fly from Frankfurt
Where are you staying?
The Westin (main hotel)
Who will you be rooming with?
Nobody at the moment.
How long are you going?
I'll stay in Pittsburgh until Monday

Sure, if you introduce yourself when you come up to me.
Can I touch you?
Depends on the location - you can touch my shoulder to get my attention.
Can I hug or snuggle?
I'm not a big hugger - but I'm working on it... So just ask before and you will probably get my permission. I don't think I've ever snuggled with a stranger - so nope...
Are you nice?
My friends are telling me "Yes" - but i think they are too afraid to tell me otherwise :D

I have a different "Rakan" T-Shirt for every day of the con, so I should be rather easy to recognize in a crowd. Otherwise you can use Twitter or Telegram (@RakanHowls) to get my attention.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
If you suddenly started interpretive dancing, that would most certainly catch my attention... But just saying "Rakan" will probably work as well.
Are there any panels you might be attending?

I've never been to con parties and nothing is planned yet, so most likely no.

If I'm in the mood, I might do some Karaoke...

Probably no.
Can I buy you drinks?
You can buy something after talking with me for a bit.

Hm - I'm not sure why you would want to do that but I don't mind free stuff.

If it's a group picture yeah... It's best to ask if it's just a photo of me.

I'm staying directly at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
Means of transportation?
I will actually fly to Glasgow in a few days and drive from there to Birmingham. I plan to finally see a little bit of the UK outside of London while being there.

If Eurofurence last year was any indication - I will probably continuously run from event to event...

About my gallery
General | Posted 8 years agoPretty much all submissions you can find in my gallery are not by myself but rather by artists / writers that I've commissioned.
2018-09-09: Eurofurence is over - but I still haven't gotten around to write properly about it. I'll try to do that next week, but I have a bit of a writer's block at the moment.
2018-06-05: After almost two months of feeling not in the right mood, I've now restarted with commissions.
2018-04-30: I'm feeling better again. I needed some time to think, and a few good friends helped a lot as well (... you know who you are!).
My mood has improved considerably in the past two weeks - and I'm now going through the things that I neglected...
I will slowly upload the stuff that has accumulated over the past few weeks. There are still some commissions ongoing that I ordered before I knew about my friend - but otherwise I'm still not in the proper proper mood to discuss new ideas again. I will see how to proceed as the queue gets shorter ...
2018-04-07: I'm taking a break from new commissions for the next few weeks....
There are still more than a dozen pictures that I have to upload to my gallery - but it's hard for me right now to think much about art - since that's something that I often talked about with my recently deceased friend Akira7 ...
There are also more than a handful of commissions that aren't even started yet but paid / reserved... I will try to handle them but please forgive me if I'm slow with answering at the moment.
After an artist has finished the commission and uploaded it to their own gallery, I usually wait several days before I upload it to my own gallery in order to direct pretty much all attention to the original submission. I will make exceptions to this rule for sequences so they are are easier to discover. My own submission will always contain a link to the original submission on the site.
I will upload the commission usually to multiple sites - and if the artist is not active on a particular site, I will skip the waiting period and upload it immediately. In addition, I will link in all cases back to the user page of the creator here on FurAffinity - unless the creator of the piece wants a link to a different site.
It's very much appreciated, if you want to favorite or comment on a piece - however I would ask for you to either do it on both submissions or just on the original submission.
