Dungeons and Dragons Sketch Commissions
Posted 7 years agoDespite not being very social on this website I feel compelled to ask whomever cares to read this if they know someone whom would be suitable for basic character sketches. The reason I ask is that I am putting a D&D group together, two actually. One I am playing in and the other I am making my debut as a DM.
I'm after someone who can offer basic to moderate detail, black and white for around $30 a piece. I'd be especially keen to commission them if they can offer simple amendments through the process, can draw in a traditional style, and can create one or two in the space of a month depending on their availability and workload.
I probably sound a bit particular, so if nothing else, seeing a recommended artist's portfolio of sketches would be grand.
Cheers!

Wow.
Posted 9 years agoI finally decided to post a journal!
Can't be bothered writing out much despite the huge amount of time since the last one. I rarely read journals here and so I don't expect others to do the same for me.
So if anyone is burning to know something, just ask here! If I am happy to answer it I shall reply ;).
~Hope that you are all well!

FurDu for my 21st!
Posted 12 years agoCome this April 23rd I shall be 21 trips around the sun of age.
So as a way of spending some hard earned cash, I shall be making the journey to Furry Down under! I'm so stocked for it not just because it will be Steam Punk themed *or* my first time there, but it will also be my first self-initiated interstate journey! (Huzzah for Independence! xp)
So just like for MidFur last year, here's a convention meme! (Stolen from
carnival >:) )
1) Have you been to FurDU before?
I have not attended this convention before. But I've heard great things about it!
2) How long will you be on the Gold Coast?
From Thursday evening to Monday midday.
3) Where are you travelling from?
The future capital of the world. Melbourne ^^.
4) How are you getting there?
By the miracle of airplane! *Wishes it was by Zeppelin*
5) Are you staying at the con hotel?
Indeed I am! Sharing a room to save money to =).
6) Who are you rooming with?
The madman scientist Lachlan and his Bear Grylls friend =p.
7) Who will you be hanging around with?
Hopefully my Melbourne mates and ActFur accomplices! =D
8) What are your major plans for the con?
Make it as memorable as possible!!!
9) Anything you really want to happen during the con?
Epic Steampunk action!
10) Anything you really want to avoid during the con?
Missing anything spectacular and getting a hangover =/.
11) Are you fursuiting/costuming?
I shall be garbing as Steampunkingly as I possibly can ;).
12) Are you an artist or dealer?
Neither. Maybe I'll have a book to sell someday =3.
13) Are you doing anything outside of the con?
Unlikely. Unless if a b-day party counts ;).
14) How can I find you?
Look for a tall gentleman in auburn hair and dapper clothing. Particularly a black trench coat and hat.
15) Do you like hugs?
When it's with consent, most certainly ^v=v^.
16) Can I have a drink with you?
Very likely so (especially if you are buying =p).
17) Can I grab dinner with you?
If it's with a planned or open group then by all means!
18) Can I photograph you?
With consent before and not after! Just remember all of the common courtesies it should be fine.
19) Can I tag along with your group?
Possibly. Just remember courtesies once again and don't get offended if the answer is no, which also means ask if it is anything like a room or table event!
20) Anyone you wish was coming, but isn't?
This amazing person!
knightmere.
21) Got a Convention Badge for the event?
Check it! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10396698/
So there's all of the info bits! If you're going to the event yourself, hope to see you there! ^v=v^

Self Improvement
Posted 12 years agoThroughout my life I have always been slim, healthy eating and at the minimum average of fitness. But I've decided that I can, and want to do better than that.
That's why I've decided to begin an exercise and diet scheme in order to improve my body and become not just lean, but athletically fit. Namely with toned muscles and a six pack.
One might say that I am endeavouring to gain a body that is the actual equivalent of my Fursona rather than just an approximation.
I start first thing tomorrow. With one hour long walks every single morning, then regular workout sessions and finally adjusting to a lean diet (or a calorie currency if you will).
I believe that posting about it will help keep my on track and cement my resolve for self-improvement. Heck it was one of my New-Year resolutions after all; so it's time to make good on it.
All being well I should have a whole new body at the end of four or five months, and have a refreshed confidence in how I carry myself.
I might even commission something to commemorate the occasion =p.

Difficult to Accept.
Posted 12 years agoWell I've seen the latest episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic.
I suppose all we can do is hope for the best and run with it. It's difficult to go against cannon after all. It's just it's a hard pill to swallow.

MidFur 2012 Meme.
Posted 13 years agoWell well well! My first text meme for my first ever convention! This is certainly getting me excited =p.
Where are you staying?
I shall be staying at my personal accommodation at RMIT Village.
What day are you getting there?
I reside right in the city centre, so I ought to be there at the very begging =).
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
I most certainly will be. My job shall occupy my time on Tuesday evening and perhaps another day, but the rest of my time shall be devoted to attendance.
Where will you be most of the time during the nights?
Tuesday night is already occupied (as previously stated), for the rest should I shall mingle wherever my interest takes me.
Who will you be hanging out with?
Hopefully familiar furs such as Dissonant Dragon, Dr. Dubz, Kraden and Carnival etc.
Who are you hoping to meet?
As many people as possible! (And on the highly unlikely chance, a lady-friend ^^;)
What time do you get up/go to bed?
I will attempt a 0800 rise and 2330 retire. But I will likely infringe upon, if not outright break, this rule.
What's the best way to get a hold of you?
To my knowledge, a formal greeting.
Do you do free art?
I am conducting preliminary experiments with my artistic talent. I doubt you would desire anything I have to offer.
Are you selling anything at MiDFur?
Negative.
What do you look like?
Tall, pale skin, blue eyes, redhead and hopefully, sharply dressed.
Do you have a fursuit?
No, but I plan to have one some day...
Hugs?
Either friends, or with notification.
Can I talk to you?
Scintillating conversation is most welcome ^v=v^.
Can I look in your sketchbook?
If you are interested in amateur Pokemon sketches.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
No thank you.
Can I buy you a drink?
Wine, Spirits and Cocktails you certainly may! Beer of any variety I hardly take to. Cider and others perhaps =).
Can I take your picture?
With my proper consent.
Here I come MidFur!

Done!
Posted 13 years agoIt's a week late but my first official short story is up!
I keep feeling that its a bit too short but I do value quality over quantity.
The setting for this was inspired, believe it or not, from my University studies! (Albeit unintentionally =p.) Now the semester break is almost over and I'll have to fit in even more Uni work with writing up my next one... need to brainstorm some ideas; as well as get on to my next book review...
Thoughts and constructive criticisms are highly appreciated ^v=v^.

Short Story Ambitions
Posted 13 years agoI have wanted to contribute to the fandom by the means of writing for the longest time. However, like many Furs would likely understand, real life and procrastination has got in my way something fierce.
My goal is to correct this mild, yet persisting issue, by self-enforcing a deadline for my first original work; a short story inspired by my University studies.
I aim to have it completed by this weekend, so that is a little under 7 days to work with on top of everything else. Hopefully the end result will be something fun and interesting to read ^v=v^.
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves.

I Kissed a Girl
Posted 13 years agoI do not care in the slightest that this is Furaffinity, or that I am live-journaling about this or that it is as corny as all hell that I am posting about it.
It happened. And I am over the goddamn moon about it.
So if it happened to me, you can bet your glorious, almighty stars that it can happen to you.
Hope exists on this rock.
Enjoy your lives, because if you persist despite everything, you most certainly will ^v=v^.

Kickstart a False Start
Posted 13 years agoBefore you get the wrong impression no, I'm not slandering anything; I am merely asking for advice.
I have the ambition to create an Assassins creed fan-comic and thought I'd give Kickstarter a try. The problem is the actual funding tool is for U.S. users only so I can't actually sign-up to receive anything (because I live in Australia).
The creators of the site say they are pressing for international usage, but I keep thinking that I can get around the issue simply by posting about the comic idea myself, and referencing the PayPal account of the artist I wish to commission for the panels.
Is there anybody with knowledge and/or experience that could give me a hand? If the idea for the actual comic interests you leave a comment and I'll post a comprehensive journal page about it =).

Bigotry in the Charitable Ranks
Posted 13 years agoWell I understood that quite a few organisations were very dodgy in terms with accepting or tolerating Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transvestites, but I was never aware that an otherwise charitable organisation in my own country would have such a degenerative view of towards these individuals.
Just a few days ago a head official from the Salvation Army admitted his outrageous position towards LGBT persons. Not only that, when he was challenged about his view which was also doctrine of the group, he did not falter. This was, cut and dry, that gays should not exist and should die.
I feel a loss of faith in an organisation that actually seeks to help people has such an outdated and frankly terrible dogma. I also certainly hope that this is not a commonly shared view of its members.
Now all I or anyone in my country can do is be wary of this fact and make the choice of supporting the Salvos or not. At this point in time, I don't think that I will be making a donation anytime soon.
I recommend reading the article and listening to the podcast to get the full scope. http://www.truthwinsout.org/blog/2012/06/26448/
Stay progressive everyone.

Scammed
Posted 13 years agoI have been scammed for the very first time, and I feel very much like a grade A fool.
The case was simple enough. I had a supposed 'artist' approach me to commission them and I fell for it. What makes me feel especially stupid was that I could sense that something was off in the back of my head, but did not act on it. Perhaps the saving grace was that I only sent half of the payment, five dollars, before I looked back at the account a few days later and discovered the truth.
It isn't an overly dramatic case, $5 isn't that much to me in the end, but I still feel aggravated by the fact that I let it happen. The only thing I can think of to do is to inform Paypal so that the account is closed, but that is it and I don't suspect I will be refunded or the person caught.
At any rate, do not accept any commission terms from this account
simsime. The person seems to have gone under and other users have addressed things on the shouts page, but still, just in case.
All I can do now is get things moving and learn from this mistake.
Good luck to you all.

Identity Clarification
Posted 13 years agoThanks to the influence of a good friend of mine, Obsidian, I have come to realise that my identity as a Raptor in the Furry Fandom is not properly defined in the species sense.
As you watchers likely know, I have presented myself as a "Velociraptor" with all of my current commissions, posts and even my new Podcast on ActFur on Air. After a conversation with Obsidian, I contemplated my identity yet again and have decided that I am not, specifically, a Velociraptor, but in fact, a Troodon.
http://www.dinosaur-world.com/feath.....n_formosus.htm
The reasons for this refinement can be found there, that is to say I find the attributes that Troodons’ have a bit more in common with myself then a Velociraptor. A very knowledgeable dinosaur fan might argue that a Troodon is not technically a Raptor as it is not in the Dromaeosauridae family. However, even though the name Raptor may usually mean a Velocirptor, it is not a strict term (I think it would be getting a bit pedantic anyway), so I still consider myself as one in the broader respect.
Overall it feels more satisfying to be that little more knowledgeable on what I am in this crazy, wonderful fandom ^^.
That is all.

Ramirus Dakota-Cathair Alastar... for President?
Posted 13 years agoSo I have some updates which I believe are above the common tweet (no offense Twitter users).
My first announcement is that on the 23rd of April, I lost the right to call myself a teenager and entered the category of 'youth' as I turned 20. It feels like a benchmark of sorts given its two decades, but I doubt that 21 will fail to dwarf it. I had a nice little Parma 'n' Drink night at a local pub with some mates to celebrate. Family visited me earlier as well, so it was definitely much better than last year when I was in Basic Training =p.
ANZAC Day has come and gone as well. Being a member of the Reserves in St Kilda Melbourne, me and the rest of the 38 Field Battery braved the cold and wet on the morning of the 25th to honour and remember the servicemen and women of WW1 and other conflicts; in particular those who did not return. Our unit along with every other local Regiment marched past the Shrine of Remembrance despite the cold winds from the shore and patchy rain. It was a small price to pay and made the drinks all the better afterward =).
A new thing for me this year was that I volunteered for a reading at the Dawn Service. I recited from the book of Mathew Chapter 5 verses 1-12 and apparently did very well, as I got compliments from everyone all around. A fair thought provoker that was, given that I’m not religious.
So now on to the title related subject ^^. I am in an aspiring RMIT club that seeks to gain membership as the RMIT AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition). As part of the establishment process, head officials must be elected within the minimum 10 founding members. As such, I am seeking the role of Vice President, yet the prospect of President is just as easily attainable. Thoughts from club and/or environment members anyone?
Other than that. Uni is slogging along at an acceptable pace but is in danger of falling under. This weekend will be about catching up as well as working on my Podcast Segment ^^.
Do what you can do out there Furries!

Green Thinking
Posted 13 years agoAttending my classes for just a few weeks has really stimulated my way of thinking. I've been Environmentally conscious from a fairly early age, but it has only been now that I am finally starting to understand just how global society has gotten itself into this situation of unsustainable and climate changing practices and how people just might correct the path past generations have set us on.
I've also joined the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), which is engaged into re-powering areas in Melbourne to carbon neutral energy, one by one. The advantage it has is that it is not a government body (as we can't afford to wait for them to make critical decisions) so it is not bound by policies and red tape.
I'd also like to ask a question for any who would care to reads this. Are you on this list? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1fi.....layer_embedded
Hope Easter is going to be fun for you all.

Moving Along
Posted 13 years agoFinally organising the paperwork catastrophe that is my PC desk and filing cabinet. The satisfaction of completing this and many other things on my agenda is always calmingly blissful =).
Work will ramp up for Uni this week. I'll soon be tackling my first few essays relating to Environmental Sustainability as well as Modern Australian Society. What's both surprising and somewhat daunting is the fact that a critical work criteria that I will need to acquire is the ability to work with the media. No small feat there.
Multiple activities occurring this week as well. Most of the Uni groups. More on those as I attend their sessions.
I've also purchased my ticket for MidFur this year. Really looking forward to that ^^.

University.
Posted 13 years agoWell I'm sliding into Uni bit by bit and all I can say is that the enrollment process is not user-friendly.
Looking forward to O-week for both RMIT and the Village, should have more to say later.

Podcast Ambitions.
Posted 14 years agoOk, so for the few Furs who may or may not be keeping an eye on my activities here, I have reason for you to get excited.
It was through my social endeavours that I sent a little note to a Fur named Flix. In a brief, but very rewarding reply there was a particular link that led me to the outstandingly amazing Radio Show, known as ActFur! http://www.actfuronair.com/main/
This was a local Fur show! Right here in Downunder and I never knew about it! So after my fanboy gleee moment I became more determined than ever to contribute to this comminuity, via this newfound site.
So I sent an e-mail expressing my appriciation and intentions to submit a segment for the Podcast. A book review segment.
The responce I recieved was among the happiest ever! It is under full consideration and the likelyhood of snagging a slot for ActFur On Air Season 4 is high!!!
So in the coming weeks, with a bit of practise, perservearnce, hard work and luck you just might be hearing "Ramirus's Literacy Review" on the fortnightly edition of this spectactular online radio show.
So a major thank you goes out to Flix Wayvern for that URL that changed my life. Go and check out her works, both pictures and fursuits are pretty darn cool. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/flixwyvern/
And go check out ActFur! It's a Furry radio show for everyone! So enjoy it!

Finding my fellow brethren.
Posted 14 years agoWell I have my first story posted with more in the planning stage and I have my first commission proudly displayed. My next thing on the "To do in the Fandom" list is to try and find fellow Furs that are within my state and region.
As such I've signed on to the IFPL (Internet Furry Proximity Locator) which I learned about from an early episode of 2 Sense. A show that I am very fond of and was in fact a large contributing factor to me realising my Furry Identity, which I owe a good friend of mine to introducing me to, and also converting me ^^.
So to any and all Furs in Victoria Australia, I say hello! I'd love to have a chat sometime and maybe even meet up in Melbourne next year when I am attending University :).

Debut
Posted 14 years agoAt last! I have broken out of my shell and submitted my first ever written piece into the wide underground world of the Furry Fandom; and it feels great!*
I plan to begin work on some fully original work soon, and a commission of my Raptor-sona in the creation process under commission :).
Things are happening here, and I don't plan to let up so long as I can help it!
*There is a text fail with my work at the moment. If any helpful writer can aid me in correcting this issue, it would be most appreciated.

Getting Started.
Posted 14 years agoWell here I am, a relatively new furry entering the community that holds all anthro's, ferals, chimeras and the like in esteem and embraces the alternative identities of the more different, or eccentric (or just plain crazy) people of this world.
Hello to everyone! I am Ramirus, a blue feathered raptor living in Downunder, it's wonderful to be here.
I plan to contribute to this site with Role Plays, Erotic Stories and other art of the textual nature.
To jump start things on my end, I shall be submitting a fan-fiction to a well established series called 'Fates of the Unicorns', a series that I have become an avid fan of.
So to any, whom may be interested, feel free to note me for whatever you might like to talk about. Be it a general hello, advice or chat. I love meeting you people.
