Ahhh.. yeah.
I guess if you want to see me, I'll be in scraps.
I'm guessing I 'showcased' something....
I know, it's the collection of book behind me!
D'oh! Sorry I should have noticed.
It can't be the microphone, it's mostly covered up by a big honking windscreen.

HaLLLLLO Nurse!
Posted 16 years agoI just wanted to say how very happy that my good friend Mulefoot passed his state board exams, and is now a Registered Nurse.
Texas here I come!
Posted 16 years agoSlowly but surely I'm moving my stuff (junk) to Texas.
Being over the hill, (55) I have some fear of change.
I know I'm with friends, but still one wonders what the future will hold for this ol' bull.
Will I still be of worth here?
Can I be useful to the small group of friends that have asked me to join them?
Things are going fairly well here, and I'm trying to do much. So this isn't an 'emo rant'.
But still late at night.. I have to wonder what next year will bring.

Forty years ago
Posted 16 years agoWell I guess I am officially old.
Forty years ago today I stood on a beach in Florida and watch Apollo 11 lift off.
Three days later the first man set foot on the lunar surface.
It truly was a world event.
A furby has more computing power then the LEM had on board.

Posted 16 years agoWhat am I doing here???
Posted 17 years agoSo what am I doing here?
As I sit and smoke a cigar I sometimes wonder why?
Am I trying to hang on to 'youth' by being in a fandom that is populated by young people?
That's as likely a reason.
I mean I'm as old as most of your parents.
At least I'm here for the art, and not the artists.
I maybe weird, but not THAT weird.
Sadly there are a few of us graymuzzles that are here for that reason.
Be wary.
I've seen so much...
Men landing on the moon, color TV...
That's history to most of you.
Then I smile and think about what will be 'history' to the ones that will follow you.
"Geeze you stored information on a spinning disk? And you had to TYPE on a keyboard!"
Hell there might even be real furrys by then.
Your running around in your fursuits might be viewed as 'quaint'.
By the way, I love fursuits. I go to cons and sit and watch.
Maybe hoping that some of that youthfulness will waft over me.
Why do I worry?
Well, I'm not an artist.
While many photographers, and myself, protest loudly that what we do IS art.
Many feel it is not a 'true' art.
So I am reduced to status of 'lurker'.
And by your indulgence, I'll 'hang on', a while longer.

Who not to vote for...
Posted 17 years agoI wonder if Tim McVay's fuse had fisseled instead of blowing up the Murrow building, if he would have gotten a professor's job in Chicago?
Which just goes to show that the extreme right has better nut-jobs then the left does.
So who do you want blowing up government buildings after the election?
Some ineffective lefty?
I'm just getting tired of my rights getting picked away.
From both sides.
The framers of the constitution didn't want the religious 'flavor of the month' running the country.
Nor for anyone disagreeing with how things were being run, to be shut up.
And they also wanted the leaders to have to really think about what they were doing to the people of this country; that were armed and knew how to shoot as well as the army did.
I know, the old argument about how they could not have foreseen machineguns and RPGs.
But nor did they foresee the microphone or TV camera, which are more powerful then an H-Bomb.
Both amendments can be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
I saw Michael Moore saying how he was glad that the messages of the left were now able to be heard???
Excuse me.. I have never heard of your movies being censored.
And the same goes for yous guys on the right, saying how their children are being indoctrinated by secular schools...
Again 'Excuse me'!... They are at school for what, 6 hours.. You have them the rest of the day, weekends and all summer long, to be able to pump into their heads full of your brand of religion. Or whatever you want.
Heaven forbid schools should teach them to ask questions...!
Taxes don't help people.
People help people..
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day...
Teach him to fish, and he's gone for the weekend, with his buddys.
I vote for....
NONE OF THE ABOVE!
Ron Paul wasn't too bad...
Please don't write in Micky Mouse...
Rodents have agendas too.
Remember to vote early and often.

Big Cat Tales
Posted 18 years agoI was asked bout my past with big cats.
We'll have to go back a few decades.
I'll skip the long intro and just say that ended up working for a big cat act.
Like the ones in the circus. Only we didn't do all the usual flaming hoops and such.
The guy I worked for...
That I'm sure no one here would know him. He was well known in the biz..
Hell, even Gunther Gables Williams of Ringling fame came to see my boss for advice on several occasions.
Over the winter, we would train cats for other 'trainers'.
Any way.. He's not a 'household' name.
He was from Eastern Europe and spoke about seven different languages.
I worked for him 12 years or so..
During that time I was around a lot of lions and tigers.
And we even had a couple of ligers, bred by us.
The male liger was very special to me.
I would get him out of his cage when he was young and carry him around.
Until he got too big.
But we always remained good buddies.
He'd always lift his head to get his chin scratched when ever I would come by.
And rub against the bars and make soft roary sounds.
Once, the act was booked with a circus that played on a fairgrounds.
One of the building had a stock scale in the floor.
So we weighed the empty travel cage and then with him in it.
He was over 500 pounds.
Most male tiger don't weigh 400.. let alone 500.
(Don't believe the hype about 5 and 600 pound cats.)
This guy was huge.
We never de-cawed or de-fanged any of the cats.
They were all fully equipped. (I have the scars to prove it.)
And anyone just can't walk up to these cats.
No matter how 'tame' they look.
It takes about 2 to 3 weeks of being around them everyday before they stop looking at you as lunch.
Another 6 months for then to begin trust you.
I was around them for years, and there was still cats that would have eaten me if given a chance.
Now that I'm a farmer, would I ever own one?
Hell NO!
I know what it takes to properly take care of one.
Getting good food and proper vet care is a nightmare!
You have to be able to dedicate huge amounts of time to just them.
When I was with 'em, I worked, ate, slept, and watched TV with them.
I loved it.. but I was getting older and need to think ahead.
That's one job that does not pay much, other then memories.
And it's hard to live on those.

7: My house is a mess, I blame my roommates. (Of course it was a mess before they moved in. But that's beside the point.)

So here goes.
Okay, so here's the meme, or whatever:
1 - Post these rules
2 - Each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves
3 - Tags should write a journal of these facts
4 - At the end of the post 8 more peeps tagged and named
5 - Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they’ve been ‘tagged’

3: I know that camera's can show great truths and tell horrible lies.. I'm careful with mine.
4: I'm addicted to food, and it's killing me.

Lack of interest
Posted 18 years agoWell a class I wanted to attend was canceled, due to lack of interest. Not enough folks.
I am loosing some weight, do to the hot weather, and lack of interest in food on my part.
That's really strange for me. I normally can eat any where, any time, any weather.
Maybe being I'm heading for my mid 50's I might be able to finally subdue my belly.
That speech Fat Bastard had in one of the Austen Powers movie, rang pretty true...
For me at least.
I know.. Lack of willpower...
Easy to say.. Hard to overcome.
So other then the normal sexual perversions..
I'm doing ok.
Moo and Peace.

Death of a friend
Posted 19 years agoOn Nov. 7 while I was busy on a different part of the farm. Someone let my two young male pups out. The sons of the female Great Dane I lost back in Sept.
I guess one was looking for me, he loved being with me.
Somehow he ended up out on the busy hiway and was killed.
In a few days he would have been 2.
While I try my best to love them equally...
It was my favorite one that was killed.
I'm doing my best not to lash out at those responsible. It's really hard not to.
But Thunder was such a loving genital dog, I'm sure he wouldn't want me to.

Lost love
Posted 19 years agoWell on Sept. 11th my Great Dane passed away.
We spent 10 great years together.
I had rescued her from a puppy mill. As near as I can tell she was around 12 years old.
Very old for that breed.
I will miss her, greatly.

Posted 19 years agoWell I guess I know the limits here.
I was asked to delete an image of a deer doe standing with her tail raised.

Morphicon '06
Posted 19 years agoWell the local fur-con here in Ohio was last weekend.
I'm on staff as the 'Tech-Bull'. Meaning I do the sound for the performance events.
I really enjoy doing this, I've had a life long love of all things audio.
I get to use all my toys I've bought on e-bay.
Mixers, mics, even some digital effects stuff.
I do love seeing all the fursuits. The work the furs put into them is incredible!
Got to play with a puppet a little bit. That also seamed fun. I might try my hand at it, next year.. LOL!.. get it.. Puppet.. Hand.. I kill myself sometimes.
