Quick Update!!
General | Posted 4 years agoB's tablet has decided to start declining *very* rapidly. It hasn't been great for a couple of months, but it's getting worse and worse by the moment now. It's still moderately functional, though much more frustrating and energy consuming to use. However, we've already bought a replacement -- finally convinced her to get a Cintiq, which will stand up to the amount of work we do -- and it will be here in just a few days. So, while still working, we are slowed a tiny bit while we wait on it. That, plus the tail end of a some sinus infection nonsense. But the delay shouldn't be much. Apologies either way! We hope everyone is well!
Massive Update Post -- PLEASE READ!!!
General | Posted 4 years agoHappy June, everyone!
It is with much excitement and anticipation that we are announcing a new part-time member of the studio. One of the dearest people in our lives, DD, is being brought on officially as a part-time colorist.
She graciously agreed to undergo several rounds of trial projects, and she absolutely blew every single one of them out of the water. All work that she does for the studio will still be required to pass through a rigorous once-over by Megg & Bea, and any necessary changes or corrections will certainly be made before the RAS stamp of approval is given, ensuring that there will be no detectable difference in quality.
She's been practicing and perfecting her ability to match the studio color style to the highest degree, and we've had few to no corrections necessary along the way. She's beyond fantastic at what she does, and we're so elated to have her joining us in an official capacity.
Much like any other facet of the studio, we won't be differentiating who does exactly what on any given piece, and we thoroughly discourage anyone trying to pick out any ear marks that they feel would indicate one person's work over another's. We would never allow anyone's work to pass through with our signature unless it was up to the quality you've all come to know and expect from us.
So, please, take a moment to give DD a big, warm welcome. We love her very much, and we know you all will learn to love her too!
Our profile will be updated to reflect her presence once we have her new icon and stuff ready to post
In other excellent news, by the time most of you are reading this, all backlogged Patreon rewards will either be completed or only awaiting color. Everything through March has been finished and returned, all of April is ready to be colored, and May is just a few short pieces away from being 100% ready for color as I type this (at 4am).
That means we'll be entering June rewards with a totally clean slate, as the color shouldn't take more than a week or two to be entirely completed from here.
Speaking of rewards, per our latest post, reward forms for June will look slightly different than they have in the past, which was addressed a few days ago. Rather than re-hashing everything we've already posted about, you can read more about those changes here.
Please make sure to pay extra close attention when filling out your reward forms this month, because some options have absolutely changed. This effects the actual reward types being offered, as well as the information requested when submitting for a gacha adopt reward.
We also have a new, very limited $300 tier, which is discussed in greater detail in the above linked post as well. In addition to the reward form screencap, it will also feature a 25% discount and two (2) free monthly upgrades. That tier will go live later this afternoon or early evening.
Back in April, we mentioned switching to a system where patrons would only receive access to a single month's bases with a single month's pledge. You can find that information in the post located here, in the second full paragraph. As noted at that time, we realized that this made the pledge all the more beneficial, as $5 for an entire month's content is much less costly than buying each product individually which gives our patrons a much great perk for being pledged each month. We intended to do this for May 1, but we ran out of time and weren't able to get everything prepped for uploading.
With that said, as of today, all previous months' base links have been removed from their posts and been replaced by a link to each base's respective posting on our new Gumroad account.
Rancid Art Studio on Gumroad
We'll be updating our Lineart & Bases folder / posts over the next day or two.
One of the other very few outstanding items left on our to-do list is finishing up the final touches on the Mega Masquerade YCH. That is scheduled to take place over the next day or two, and we'll be sketching up the new one during that timeframe as well. We do apologize for the delay in completing the current Mega, but we felt we had to prioritize getting rewards returned to the amazing people who kept us afloat while we had our commissions closed to dig through our backlog.
The new Mega YCH will be Summer Music Festival themed, and we hope to put it up for Patreon early access auction from June 6-8, then releasing it for public auction from June 9-12. It will be scheduled for an early July start date.
Now that we're going to be functioning without a backlog, we expect to have commissions open much more regularly, as you can see in the calendar uploaded on this post. We plan to fill those 4-day batches each week, close very briefly to finish them, and then re-open for the next week's batch.
One of the things we'd like to implement with this change is opening up "Barter Submissions," which is essentially a formal version of what most would call an "art trade." We've chosen the term "barter submission" because we want to allow offers that fall far outside of the usual "art for art." Offers may include, but are not limited to: digital art, OCs, custom designs, handcrafted goods, physical items, gift cards/e-shop credit, a purchased meal, etc.
We just want to have a functional system where art can be "purchased" without necessarily having to bring money into the equation for those who struggle with banking, PayPal, are trying to scale back their spending, and/or are experiencing any other limiting factors.
If you're interested in learning more or submitting a proposal for bartered art, please feel free to submit this form for consideration.
One last minor change you may notice, which shouldn't affect anyone too greatly, is the addition of a small watermark with the full studio name on all finished artwork we return. We full intend to keep it unobtrusive, out of the way (to the best of our ability), and small enough to avoid distracting from the art itself. We wouldn't do anything that we felt lessened the aesthetic of our finished work.
This decision was made due to our simple RAS signature being effectively useless to anyone who doesn't already know and recognize it. There is no way to trace it back to our studio when seen "out in the wild," for lack of a better term. Many who know us don't even realize it includes an A between the R & S.
The RAS signature will still be appearing on all of our work, there will just be a small RancidArtStudio watermark featured somewhat inconspicuously as well.
I think that bring us to the end of this very long post. We genuinely hope you read everything, but if not, we hope you at least read the bolded portions. We get that life is busy and I'm wordy LOL
One final note, for those who use Discord but haven't gotten word of our server yet, you can join us here.
It's a super relaxed environment, filled with lots of friendly, helpful people. You can also peep all of our WIPs and get to know us better via the various channels. Additionally, it features an "open comm" ping to let you know the moment commission slots become available and has plenty of channels where you can get near immediate answers to any questions you may have. There are channels where you can post your own art, adopts, stream links, and we'll be updated soon to include Art Fight 2021 resources as well -- We finally get to join this year. You can follow us on ArtFight here.
Thanks to everyone again who has stuck beside through all the ups and downs, and a hearty welcome to those only just joining the program already in progress. You're all amazing, and we're the luckiest artists in the world! :heart:Update in preparation for commission re-opening!
General | Posted 5 years agoAs we near the end of our queue, we're looking to start letting everyone know how things will be working when we re-open within the next couple of weeks.
First things first, if you're looking for Pokédopts, here is the post you'll want to check out: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40530672/
Secondly, we think we've settled on a model where we'll open commissions once per week, take 1 week's worth of slots, close when filled, and then do the same thing again each subsequent week. This should allow us to maintain a 1-5 day turnaround time on all orders placed.
A week's worth of slots may change week-to-week, depending on our Patreon workload, real life obligations, and how many days we intend to work that week, but that will all be handled on the backend without much if any client impact.
Third, and potentially one of our most frequently asked questions as of late: How do you claim slots?
1. We plan to put the 'open slots' post on our Patreon first, giving patrons about a 3 hour headstart. This will apply to all patrons, pledge tiers $1+ per month. You can check out Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio
2. The next easiest place to snag slots and place comms will be our Discord server, where there is a self-assignable role that will add you to the list of people we ping every time we open comms. You can join via this link: https://discord.gg/XhG2sCN
3. We will post here on FA and on FB when comm slots open each week, and they will be able to be claimed on posts or via inbox/note.
4. You will also be able to find our commission status (open or closed) and a rough work schedule on our Trello. The comm status message is not yet there, but it will be when it becomes relevant. You can find our Trello here: https://trello.com/b/lnTtDtfE/ranci.....t-studio-queue
Current prices and examples, as well as links to contact info, social media platforms, and Terms of Service, can be found on our Carrd, located here: https://rancidartstudio.carrd.co/
Feel free to drop questions or comments below. Looking forward to working with everyone on the new system very, very soon! <3
Much love!!!

Temporary Commission Closure!
General | Posted 5 years agoCommissions are officially temporarily closed until the queue is clear. We've filled the time we told ourselves we were comfortable filling, and we plan to be able to re-open in December or January.
The current queue is overwhelming for us and also resulting in longer-than-optimal wait times. The new system, once we re-open, will focus on daily commissions that will be completed or nearly completed before accepting more.
In the meantime, art can still be acquired via our Patreon-exclusive commission streams, which are available to any patron pledging $3 or more per month. Or via Patreon art rewards, which start at $20 per month. Rewards can also be upgraded for the difference in cost between the pledge/reward and the desired piece.
There are also discounts, early access for adopts/YCHs, first chances on new product types and specials, and monthly bases that are provided at no extra cost.
For those interested, our Patreon is located here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio

A Happy Update (finally)!!!
General | Posted 5 years agoJust wanted to pop in with an update for everyone. We're pleased to announce that we've managed to stay on track through all of September and the bit of October that's passed so far. No hiccups at all! Our flow is getting back to normal, and we're very much "on task" with the queue.
We're currently aiming for a minimum of 1 batch of undersketches and 1 batch of lines per day, with any additional time being devoted directly to catching up the line queue faster. Color is still coming fairly quickly, though small delays occur when our colorist has to do non-art but still studio-related tasks.
You may see more adopts start going up on our account, as we're trying to do one adopt per day throughout October -- Adoptober, as we've not-really-all-that-cleverly named it. We're making sure this isn't cutting into our ability to get queue work done though. It's more something we work on when we need a break/to relax, as we find character design to be quite rejuvenating. Some of the adopts are getting snapped up during Patreon 3 day early access, so those won't be posted for sale (leaving gaps in the 1 per day public schedule). But they are available for early access to anyone pledging $10 or more per month, which also includes access to our monthly bases (available at $5 or more per month). If you'd like to check out those perks or any others, you can find our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio
If you've noticed that we haven't been posting (aside from the adopts) on here, it's because we're committed to putting our efforts into the queue without making any attempts to advertise for new comms. Our goal is to complete our queue entirely (hopefully before the end of the year) and move to a daily slot system, to avoid any backlog moving forward. We're only scheduling through the end of Nov, and then pausing commission intake until the queue is clear. We will be offering a (no payment, no obligation) waiting list for people who wish to be notified when we open comms again. But that's only if our remaining time fills up before we can wipe out our queue. This *might* never come to pass, depending on how order flow comes in.
If anyone is looking to track their current commission, our public queue is always kept up to date and can be found here: https://trello.com/b/lnTtDtfE/ranci.....t-studio-queue
Thanks for taking the time to read, and we appreciate how patient everyone has been with us through the turbulence that 2020 has thrust upon us. Hoping like heck for a calm and smooth-running end of the year and a very gentle slide into 2021!
Also hoping this journal finds everyone well. We know how scary things are for people right now, and we just hope everyone is staying as safe and secure as possible <3

Regarding Our "F2U Bases"
General | Posted 5 years agoUpdate: We've removed F2U from the tags and the submission title, but it will remain in the past and future watermarks for clarity's sake. We aren't trying to fool anyone, rather trying to be as clear as possible about what they actually are. We've seen artists who have Patreon Exclusive bases in the past where only patrons can purchase them, and that's not the case here. We don't want anyone feeling like they're going to pledge only to find out that they only get access to purchase bases for an additional price per base. The absolute truest intent on our part was to provide them 100% free of charge to those who simply wish to support us at a $5+ level on Patreon. Its not a means of selling them, because we had that Patreon tier with patrons in it long before we started providing the bases. So, as mentioned, we're opting to drop the F2U tag and titles but choosing to keep the F2U on the watermark, just to make sure everyone understands. We're hoping this will help alleviate any confusion moving forward.
We've received questions a couple of times in relation to the use of "F2U" or "Free-to-Use" when discussing our bases, as they're Patreon-exclusive content. We just want to take a moment to clarify and explain why we feel F2U is still a proper description.
1. The bases are not for sale anywhere and do not have a corresponding cost assigned to them.
2. Bases are not removed at the end of a pledge month, so all new patrons gain access to all past bases as well as their current pledge month's bases.
3. The minimum pledge required to receive access to the base files is $5, which comes with the following perks:
Receive early access to:
- New products
- Monthly pinups
- Comic updates
Access to:
- One Monthly Patreon-exclusive request stream
- Promotional discounts
- Weekly Patreon-only Toony AF Icon slots, in additon to the public slots (when available - currently on hiatus)
- Two Monthly Patreon-exclusive commission streams
- Discord server "VIP Lounge"
- Ordering Gacha Adopts for regular queue completion
- Early access to new YCHs (3 days before they go public)
PLUS
- Monthly F2U Patreon-exclusive linearts and/or bases for personal use or profit
All tiers above $5 receive the above listed perks and benefits as well as other additional ones, including monthly art rewards starting at $20 per month.
At this moment, we have 16 bases posted with 2 more coming out before the end of August. Once the other 2 are posted, that will put us at a current library of 18 bases that become downloadable for use with a single $5 pledge. No one is required to stop using the bases if they un-pledge, and as long as no one is selling our bases, giving them away for free, removing our signature, or neglecting to credit us, they are free to use for both personal use and profit. Line editing is allowed and even welcomed. They can be used to make refs, adopts, commissions, etc.
There isn't a single base on our Patreon that wouldn't sell for at least $5 each on a site like Gumroad, and our newest base would easily sell for $70+, given that it boasts 550+ layers/options. Once the 17th and 18th bases are posted later this month, even if you considered the $5 pledge to be a payment for them, that would be just under $0.28 per base, and the "cost" will drop with each new base posted each month (at a rate of 2-3 per month).
But we don't even intend for a $5 pledge to be made for the "purchase" of our bases. In fact, if someone doesn't wish to support us with a $5 pledge for the other advertised perks, then we don't necessarily encourage them to pledge at all. The bases are a way for us to thank those who wish to show us financial support at a level of $5 or more, at least once.
Given this information, it would feel very misleading for us to call them P2U, when we genuinely feel that our $5+ Patreon tiers are well worth the pledge even without the bases, and this is supported by the fact that many people pledged to those tiers prior to us adding bases as a perk in February this year.
So, there you have it! That's why we don't feel it's fair to call our bases P2U and genuinely feel that they are F2U bases. They are a perk of pledging, not a purchase. To say they're P2U bases would be indicating that we believe they should be able to be purchased for less than $0.30 per base, and that's not the case at all. We've poured ~100 hours into them so far, especially given the size of the most recent one, and we would sell them for much more than $5 if we intended for them to be sold. We mean for them to be entirely free to those who choose to support us on Patreon, and part of the perk is that the public can't go buy them at will (or at all).
Given this information, we ask that everyone respect our right to label our bases as we see fit and understand why we choose to label them the way we do.
We're hoping this helps clear up any confusion about the F2U label, and we thank you in advance for your understanding!

Queue & Patreon Updates!
General | Posted 5 years agoOur queue has been completely overhauled one final time. We started to notice a trend of those closest to us expressing serious concern about our sleep (or lack thereof) schedule and our staunch refusal to take any time off/to ourselves. After much consideration, we faced the reality that their concerns were well-founded, and that we have been demanding far too much of ourselves for a long time now.
The queue now has batches that are much more reasonable in size, as well as 1 scheduled day off per week (Sundays -- in addition to holidays, special occasions, etc). It also has YCHs pre-scheduled, all Patreon streams scheduled through November, and Patreon rewards scheduled in daily to avoid a push at the end of the month (2nd try is a charm).
Our biggest concern was whether that would increase our wait times drastically, but it honestly didn't push anyone's start date back by more than 14 days, and most by 7-10. That was a very pleasant surprise. I think everyone will ultimately appreciate how much this may improve our work, as well as helping to avoid burnout which certainly results in much longer delays. So, feel free to check out the new queue set up. There are also a more examples of our work showing on the lists toward the right! You can find it here: https://trello.com/b/lnTtDtfE/ranci.....t-studio-queue (You can find your estimated start dates there as well.)
Pinups and rewards are all being colored and delivered over the next few days. And more info on a new Patreon perk (regarding having canon OCs in the studio's RP universes) will be available in the coming week or two, alongside some new adopts and YCHs, including a new Mega YCH (to be completed in early Oct)!
August's streams are scheduled as follows:
Aug 8 - 1st Patreon-Exlusive Commission Stream
Aug 18 - 2nd Patreon-Exlusive Commission Stream
Aug 22 - Patreon-Exlusive Request Stream
For more information on these perks and many others, check out our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio
Thanks for everyone bearing with us! <3

Update & Questions Within! Input Appreciated!
General | Posted 5 years agoFirst, the update! We're going to begin requesting July reward info from everyone later today, in an effort to try something a bit different in how we process them on our end. We will also be using a Google form for reward information collection this month, as it seems like a much more organized way to gather details. Our hope is to be able to spread rewards out through the month from now on, a few each week, to avoid a big push at the end. The big push is why June's are currently late, and we think this new system will allow us to dodge that outcome in the future.
Second, since our $100 tier is currently at capacity, would there be any interest in us opening up a $50-60 tier again. The art reward options would fall somewhere between those offered to $20-30 patrons and those offered to $100 patrons. Additionally, it would come with a 15% discount, rather than 5%, 10%, or 20%. It would likely also be a limited tier, but not as limited as the $100 tier. More like 10-15 slots maybe? Is anyone interested in seeing that as an option? If so, what sort of art reward options would you want to see?
Third, in reference to the image above, we'd love ideas. What sort of bases would y'all like to see? We have July's planned, but we haven't come up with anything for months beyond July. We're looking for the following types of suggestions:
-YCH Situational Base (SFW or NSFW) - can be a link to an inspiration photograph
-Limited Option Lineart/Bases
-Expansive Species Bases
If suggesting a species, please note if you'd prefer to see it as a limited option or expansive base.
Fourth, what sorts of YCHs do you want to see? We're looking for the following types of suggestions:
-Mega YCH (7-20 charcters)
-Limited Slot YCH (single character, flat sale, 2-3 slots)
-Single Slot Auctionable YCH (1-3 characters)
-One-of-a-Kind Auctionable YCH feat. Our OCs (single purchasable character slot) - You can find our OCs here - Please keep these PG-13 or R at worst, nothing sexually explicit please.
Please note which type of YCH you would most like to see your idea executed as. We may even institute a discount to the person who suggested a YCH idea we end up using if they choose to purchase it.
Fifth, since we passed our final Patreon goal milestone, what sort of things would you potentially want to see us offer for future milestones if we made new stretch goals? Also, can we just say, we never expected to get this far. So, like... we are literally out of ideas. And, as an update on milestone promises, we're trying to schedule in 2 comic pages for July and also still researching merch shops. If we're gonna do it, we wanna do it right. Too many merch horror stories to rush it and get it wrong.
Sixth, one more update! Our Trello now includes projected start dates for batches on each "batch break" card. They are estimates. Things will occasionally be off by a few days in either direction, but these should give you a pretty good idea of when you can expect your slot to come up.
We think that's it for now. We would love as much input as you're willing to give. Everyone's opinion counts the same.

Fuck May -- More (Not Good) Updates!
General | Posted 5 years agoHey, Megg here! I know we never specify who is typing, but this is definitely me. These are my subpar words. Please bear with me.
I'm going to vaguely explain today. I would literally think I was lying if I wasn't the one living my life right now.

We woke up to some disturbing and unsettling information regarding r*pe allegations against a former-friend and client, only to find out a few hours later that she took her own life.
We spent a good portion of our afternoon talking with those processing the morning's events -- some mourning, some worried about their friends in mourning, and some just confused as to what was going on.
After a stress nap, we decided to catch dinner and hit a deer on our way home. We're both without injury. The car is driveable enough that we were able to get home, which is where we are now. Safe.
Photos of the car if anyone wants to see (no blood or organic tissue, but there is crunched car and deer feces): https://gyazo.com/collections/4be87.....6d123889887a4f
We have good insurance, a relatively low deductible, and a reasonable savings balance. I also have amazing parents who I know would help if push came to shove.
This isn't helping our return time though, and we're all so fucking sorry. Like, there really aren't words. I'm so tired of telling you kind, patient people that things are going to be later than we expected. I really hope I don't have to say that a single time in all of June.
Whatever return time we originally told you, please just assume for now that it's actually "3 months or less." We think that's something we can absolutely manage, even with May's events -- some of which included a week's worth of non-stop harassment (which ended in a truce) and losing a $1200 tablet that took almost 2 weeks for the replacement to show up. We literally haven't gotten to work hardly at all this month, and that sucks for people who try to work constantly. Patreon rewards are also going to be a tiny bit late.
We're not looking for pity or anything. Not asking for money. Not really asking for anything but a tiny bit more patience with our turanround times. You're more than welcome to contact us with any concerns you may have, and we'll address them as quickly and concisely as possible.
I think that's all for the moment. Thanks for reading. And, most of all, thanks for the support!

Update time! PLEASE READ!
General | Posted 5 years ago1. All figures (including our 2, which was sort of the hold up) have now been lined on the Mega YCH, and we should be getting color to people for approval over the course of the next couple of weeks. We're going to be adding slots into the color queue between groupings of pieces so that they have a schedule for completion. I know this has taken way longer than we thought it would, but we clearly had no idea how big of a project it would be. So, next time we do a Mega YCH, we're literally planning to schedule in a full week to just run through it start to finish. And, even if we can do 2 or 3 of these a year, that's going to feel like such a massive accomplishment.
2. If you've seen our Patreon-exclusive bases floating around our page and would rather buy a commission on the bases than use the bases yourself, we're TOTALLY open to that. Pricing depends entirely on which base you're interested in and what you want us to make with it.
You can find the gallery of all of our current base previews here: https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery...../Lineart-Bases
Examples of booty shot: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35774853/
Examples of chest/corset shot: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35951727/
We'll also keep adding to the base/lineart folder as we go, so you can always check back there.
3. We've mentioned it a few times in passing, but June 1 is going to bring a pricing and product update. We'll be adding a few products to the official line-up, removing a few, compacting some of the others into fewer choices, etc. Prices will also be updated. It's been 2 years, and even bystanders on some of our platforms have started noting that our prices are no longer in line with the studio's quality. We've been committed to putting in more time than our current prices allow for a while now, which hasn't done our turnaround time any favors. So, we're really just going to start charging the prices that account for the time and energy we've started pouring into each piece, which has objectively increased the quality of our work. This change will also come with a visual price sheet, which we've been in desperate need of for a very long time.
4. Speaking of turnaround, May was... somehow weird even for 2020. It wasn't a great month for us in a lot of ways. Between losing an expensive piece of necessary equipment, having to wait for the replacement to arrive, severely over-extending ourselves on the 2 public/3 patron icon maximums, the good but time consuming process of training a new studio member, and another few incidents... we lost time this month. And, no matter what we did to stem to bleed, we can't really work more hours a day than we currently do to try and get it back. It is our guess that we'll be totally back on track with our schedule by the beginning of July, which is only a little over a month away. And given that we lost at least 2-3 weeks' worth of full-productivity time, that's not a horrid recovery period. Obviously not 100% of the 2-3 weeks, but a surprising amount -- at least 50%, given that the circumstances all resulted in only 1 of us really getting to work at anywhere near full capacity, and sometimes it was even less than that. So, if you've seen the queue moving less than normal, it's because we've been doing things that aren't necessarily just commissions that still have to get done for the business to continue functioning. And we super appreciate everyone's patience and understanding through this time.
5. "Toony AF" icons will remain available for the foreseeable future, though the 1 per slot limit will be remaining in effect until further notice. And, to be completely transparent, it may never change. If it does change, the maximum would shift to 1 per public slot and 2 per Patreon slot, and that's not even guaranteed. When we had sometimes 5 per day, each one taking at least an hour, that was MOST of our workday already. We either didn't think that through enough or we underestimated how long they would take -- maybe both! But, either way, this limitation guarantees that quality will remain high, which we always prefer over mediocrity in higher quantity.
In case this doesn't make much sense to some people, these are our 'Toony AF" icons: https://gyazo.com/collections/ac8e4.....cc9679f817a02d
We release 7 slots on FB and 7 slots on Patreon each Saturday - 7 because there's 1 for each day of the week. All patrons ($1/mo and up) get the same chance at Patreon-exclusive icons slots.
6. We don't mean to talk about our Patreon so much, but we're having a TON of fun there. The first monthly Patreon-exclusive commission stream was a dream, so much so that we want to do another, likely on May 31 -- which is a Sunday. We've been working to make sure the things we're doing are both beneficial to our patrons AND fun for us, which is the best possible scenario we can imagine. The Discord server remains energetic, supportive, and drama free! We're just... happy.

7. We're hoping June or July will bring about our merch shop, though that's still an uphill battle to sort out. Time spent researching different sites is time taken away from commission work, which... ya know... that's a whole give and take there. But we'll keep y'all apprised.
8. We should also have our first 2 comic pages up in June. Not sure what dates yet, but that's the plan! Again, y'all will be the first to know -- after Patreon, of course!
9. This shouldn't come as any real surprise, but
is doing exceptionally well. Still absolutely no regrets! Please continue to give her the same warm, welcoming energy that y'all have thus far, and thanks for being so open to accepting her into our little family! <3
That should be about it for now. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to post them below!

Looking for Quick Turnaround** Cheer-Me-Up Art
General | Posted 5 years agoDrop prices, examples, and estimated turnaround in comments. No specific budget. The serotonin hit is more important than the money right now.
**No shade on slower turnaround, ours is like 2 months right now. Just looking for something quick as a pick-me-up. We don't judge anyone's speed.

May Patreon-Exclusive Commission Stream Update!
General | Posted 5 years agoOkay, y'all! Tomorrow, May 15th, is our first scheduled monthly Patreon-exclusive commission stream. We're planning to start around 2pm CST, which is a little under 2 hours earlier than this post's timestamp.
When the time comes, we'll put up an image similar to this one alongside a link to the stream. There will be approximately 10 slots available, to keep stream length reasonable, and slots will be first come, first serve.
The stream itself will be public, but only patrons ($3+) will be allowed to buy, and patron status will be checked before any money changes hands to keep things fair. As long as you paid your May pledge, even if you've since deleted or cancelled it, you are still considered a patron for the entirety of this month.
There will be a limited menu of items available for purchase in-stream, and you can see the full list below:
- Toony AF Icons - $10-20 (discounted)
- Toony AF Half Bodies - $40-50 (Patreon exclusive - streams & $15+ patrons)
- Floaty Pixel Dolls - $30-40 (discounted)
- Gatcha Adopts - $20-30 (stream exclusive)
- Chibis (New Style) - $35 (stream exclusive until June's product & pricing update)
We'll be posting Toony AF Half Body examples a bit later today. These will also be included in the exclusive products available for normal queue orders for patrons pledging $15 or more each month.
Slots may be claimed (one per patron) prior to payment, though providing details, price quoting, and payment must all be completed before we begin your piece. We will be dual-streaming all stages of the process as a trial run. If this ends up being too taxing on our internet or slows our work to an unmanageable degree, color will begin being completed off-stream. Hopefully it will run smoothly so that we can continue in such a fashion, though.
If anyone has questions about the stream, please don't hesitate to ask beforehand. We simply don't know how hectic things will be when the stream starts, and we would like to get as many answer to people as early as possible.
As artists who used to stream constantly, we're very excited for this. It'll be a nice throwback to old times, and it's great we'll get to share it with y'all! Thanks for being here with us! <3

Tablet Update!
General | Posted 5 years agoBea's new tablet finally came in yesterday, and it's amazing. We bought the XP-Pen Artist 12, because she doesn't like large screens, and it's performing beautifully. It comes in a variety of sizes, all at really affordable price points, and it's working like a dream. Our only hiccup so far was having to switch to SAI 2 for pen pressure to function properly, but that's not the worst thing. We actually like it better so far.
That said, we can finally start making up for lost time today. Yes, we still pushed back estimated start and completion dates on our entire queue to account for the time we've lost, but we're genuinely hoping to make some of it back. We only ask that you bear with us in the meantime.

New Patreon $15 Tier Reward/Perk
General | Posted 5 years agoAs of today, we are opening up Toony AF Icons so that they can be ordered outside of weekly slots and placed in the normal queue for patrons pledging $15 or more each month.
-Standard turnaround times will apply, not the 1-7 days we aim for on weekly slots.
-Pricing will still be $20-30 each, not the discount Patreon-exclusive stream pricing -- though Patreon reward-related discounts will still apply (5-20%).
So, if you pledge to a $15 or higher tier and you're more interested in the product than the quick turnaround times, you won't have to vie for slots anymore.
This is in addition to patrons, who pledge $3 or more per month, having access to a once-monthly Patreon-exclusive commission stream, where these icons will be available in limited quantities at the discounted rate of $10-20.
We hope this might help lessen the Saturday bloodshed on the "new slots" post, even if just a tad. We thought it would be nice open the product up a bit more to y'all. |
For those interested in this perk or any others, you can find more information on our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio

Small Delays in Studio Production
General | Posted 5 years agoHey guys! Unfortunately, the tablet issues mentioned earlier in the week have slowed Studio production down much more than expected. Luckily, the new tablet comes in tomorrow! However, this does mean that we will likely push due dates on orders back by a week or two while we get used to the new setup and play catch up. Apologies for any inconvenience!
Annoucements!
General | Posted 5 years agoHello, all!
We're here to share some fantastic news! It's 2 days later than intended, but exciting as heck nonetheless.
First of all, we're gonna take a second to congratulate Rose aka
on all of her amazing work, because nothing you're about to see would have happened without her. We cannot possibly express the amount of time, effort, love, and dedication she put into these projects to make them exactly what we hoped for and then some. So, please, give her some major love.
Second, that brings us to the actual announcements!
1. The Rancid Art Studio website is officially up and running. It's one concise spot to find the following:
-About us
-Contact info
-Portfolio examples
-Terms of Service
-Public queue link
-Pricing
-Patreon link
-Our comic (soon)
-Merch store (eventually)
You can find us at: https://www.rancidartstudio.com/
2. We also have a shiny, new Discord server ready to go, which we're quite happy about. We've been asked by many people over the years to host one, and the time is finally upon us.
You can join here: https://discord.gg/XhG2sCN
A few things, though. There are rules. It will be heavily moderated. Breaking the rules will either immediately or eventually get you booted. If it's bad enough, there can be blacklisting involved. Luckily, our TOS includes blacklist-able offenses. So, you can quickly find out how not to commit them. Honestly, given what they are, it's good practice to just not do those things. We're not that strict.
We welcome you all to come hang out!
Also, to anyone pledging $3 or more per month on our Patreon, y'all will receive special access to a VIP Lounge in the server. This access comes with some pretty cool perks that we'll be rolling out as the weeks go by. Please just let us know when you join if you fall into one of those Patreon tiers, so we can give you the VIP role.
If you'd like to check out our Patreon for yourselves, you can find it here: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio
3. To celebrate all of this, we'll be hosting a private "Come Watch Us Work" stream a bit later tonight. It won't be for commissions -- just working on queue work and hanging out. But it'll be nice to have the company, and it'll be the start of what we hope to be a staple moving forward. We won't be able to stream our work constantly, of course, but we will start opening private streams for certain groups here and there. So, keep your eye on FB, Patreon, and the Discord server for the link here in just a little while.
Thanks to everyone who has made our growth possible. We love and appreciate y'all more than we can ever truly say. We literally wouldn't be here without you! <3

Quick update:
General | Posted 5 years agoBea's tablet screen has started flickering wildly, affecting her ability to use it. We're currently transferring all files to dropbox and setting up our backup system. We have a new tablet ordered, but it won't arrive until May 4-5. This backup system should work fine in the meantime, but we might be a bit slower until the new tablet arrives. Apologies! We know this isn't the best timing.
